Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de estudar o efeito de diferentes quantidades de palha de cana-de-açúcar, colhida sem queima prévia do canavial, na eficácia de alguns herbicidas no controle de Ipomoea grandifolia. O experimento foi desenvolvido em campo no Centro de Ciências Agrárias/UFSCar, em Araras (SP). Os tratamentos consistiram dos herbicidas ametryn + trifloxysulfuron-sodium (1463 + 37 g ha-1), imazapic (84 g ha-1), imazapyr (200 g ha-1), ¹diuron + hexazinone (1170 + 330 g ha-1) e ²diuron + hexazinone (1330 + 160 g ha-1) aplicados em pré-emergência de I. grandifolia e de cinco quantidades de palha de cana-de-açúcar (0, 5, 10, 15 e 20 t ha-1). A eficácia de controle das plantas daninhas foi avaliada aos 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos (DAT). Com a adição de palha (15 e 20 t ha-1) ao solo foi reduzida a população de I. grandifolia. À medida que a quantidade de palha foi aumentada, reduziu-se a eficácia dos herbicidas; com 15 t ha-1 de palha, o controle foi considerado insatisfatório para todos os tratamentos utilizados. Com 20 t ha-1 nenhum herbicida foi eficaz, entretanto, a palha foi eficiente na supressão desta espécie, verificando-se que o número de plantas emergidas foi menor mesmo na testemunha.This work had as objective studies the effect of different amounts of sugarcane straw picked without burns about effectiveness of some herbicides in the I. grandifolia control. The experiment was conduced in field in the Centro de Ciências Agrárias/UFSCar, in Araras, SP. The treatments consisted of herbicides herbicidas ametryn + trifloxysulfuron-sodium (1463 + 37 g ha-1), imazapic (84 g ha-1), imazapyr (200 g ha-1), ¹diuron + hexazinone (1170 + 330 g ha-1) and ²diuron + hexazinone (1330 + 160 g ha-1) applied in pre emergence of Ipomoea grandifolia and on five growing amounts of sugarcane straw ( 0, 5, 10, 15 e 20 t ha-1). The effectiveness of control of weeds was evaluated to the 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after application of treatments (DAT).The straw reduced the population of I. grandifolia even in the treatments without herbicide use. The measure that increased the amount of straw there was reduction in the effectiveness of the herbicides and with 15 t ha-1 of straw the control was considered unsatisfactory for all of the treatments. With 20 t ha-1 the control was null for all the treatments, however, was observed that in this case, the own straw was efficient in the suppression of these weed, since the number of emerged plants was smaller, even in the treatment without herbicides.

O crescimento e a distribuição do sistema radicular afetam as respostas das plantas à ocorrência de deficiência hídrica. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar em mudas de laranjeira 'Valência' enxertada sobre limoeiro 'Cravo' ou Poncirus trifoliata ('Trifoliata') o crescimento de raízes, as trocas gasosas (CO2 e H2O), o potencial da água na folha e a distribuição de carboidratos nos diversos órgãos, em plantas submetidas à deficiência hídrica. As mudas foram transplantadas para 32 rizotrons, que permitiam a visualização das raízes, sendo 16 para cada porta-enxerto e submetidas ou não à irrigação. A deficiência hídrica às plantas foi aplicada pela interrupção do fornecimento de água às plantas. A condutância estomática decaiu após o quarto dia sem irrigação, causando redução da fotossíntese, da transpiração e da eficiência de carboxilação. O teor de carboidrato total (sacarose + açúcares redutores + amido) em plantas sem estresse foi maior em 'Trifoliata', e entre os tratamentos com deficiência hídrica foi sempre inferior. As massas secas das plantas sem deficiência hídrica foram maiores, em ambos os porta-enxertos. Entre os tratamentos irrigados e não irrigados, o comprimento das raízes dentro de um mesmo tipo de porta-enxerto foram semelhantes. Porém, o comprimento das raízes de laranjeira 'Valência' sobre 'Cravo' foi significativamente maior. Mesmo sob deficiência hídrica e grande queda da produção fotossintética, as raízes permaneceram crescendo, possivelmente às expensas de substrato mobilizado de outros órgãos.The growth and distribution of the root system affect the response of the plants to water deficit. This work aim at the to evaluation of 'Valencia' orange budded on 'Rangpur¢ lime and Poncirus trifoliata ('Trifoliata') as to root growth, gas exchange (CO2 and H2O), leaf water potential and distribution of carbohydrates in several organs, in plants submitted to water deficit. Plants were transplanted to 32 rizotrons, which allowed root visualization of the roots. Sixteen plants in each rootstock were submitted to irrigation and the other 16 remained without irrigation. Water deficit was induced withholding the water supply. Stomatal conductance declined after the fourth day without irrigation, causing a reduction of the photosynthesis, the transpiration and the carboxilation efficiency. The total carbohydrate content (sucrose + reducing sugars + starch) in plants without water stress was greater in 'Trifoliata', and among the water deficit treatments it was always less. The dry phytomass of the plants without water deficit was greater in both rootstocks. Among the irrigated and non irrigated treatments, the length of the roots same of rootstocks was similar. However, the root lengths of plants on 'Rangpur' lime were significantly greater than that on 'Trifoliata'. Even under water deficit and great decrease of the photosynthetic production, the roots maintained growth, possibly at the expenses of mobilized substrates of other plant parts.

Em variedades de cana-de-açúcar podem ser observadas respostas diversas aos herbicidas, tendo como consequências problemas de fitotoxicidade, que podem ocasionar redução na produtividade. Com o objetivo de estudar a seletividade de herbicidas sobre as variedades de cana-de-açúcar RB925345, RB925211, RB935744 e RB855036, foram desenvolvidos quatro experimentos em campo, um para cada variedade, no delineamento de blocos casualizados, em Araras (SP). Os herbicidas utilizados foram: trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (351 + 99 g i.a ha-1) + diuron + hexazinone (1097 + 27,77 g i.a ha-1), trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (1463 + 37 g i.a ha-1), diuron + hexazinone (1170 + 330 g i.a ha-1), metribuzin (4000 g i.a ha-1), imazapic (122,5 g i.a ha-1) e imazapyr (0,5 L i.a ha-1). Foram realizadas avaliações visuais de intoxicação aos 15, 30, 45, 60 e 90 dias após aplicação (DAA), altura das plantas aos 30, 90 e 180 DAA, perfilhamento e análise tecnológica constituída pelos teores de sólidos solúveis (ºBrix), Pol (%) caldo, Pol (%) cana, Fibra (%) e Pureza (%), aos 380 DAA. Inicialmente, todas as variedades tiveram sintomas de intoxicação aos herbicidas. Os inibidores da ALS (imazapyr e imazapic) tiveram sintomas mais acentuados aos 30 DAA, com paralisação do crescimento das plantas, presença de folhas retorcidas e coloração arroxeada. Aos 90 DAA, nas variedades não havia sintomas de fitotoxicidade significativos, sendo tolerantes aos herbicidas aplicados. Não foram observadas diferenças significativas entre os tratamentos com relação ao perfilhamento, altura das plantas e na qualidade tecnológica final das variedades estudadas. Sugarcane varieties can present different responses to the herbicides and have as results phytotoxicity problems that could cause reduction in the sugarcane yield. With the objective of studying the selectivity of herbicides on the sugarcane varieties RB925345, RB925211, RB935744 and RB855036, four experiments were carried out in the random block design, one for each variety. The treatments consisted of herbicides trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (351 + 99 g a.i ha-1) + diuron + hexazinone (1097 + 27.77 g a.i ha-1), trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (1463 + 37 g a.i ha-1), diuron + hexazinone (1170 + 330 g a.i ha-1), metribuzin (4000 g a.i ha-1), imazapic (122.5 g a.i ha-1) and imazapyr (0.5 L a.i ha-1). Visual evaluations of selectivity were taken at 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 days after application (DAA), heights of the plants at 30, 90, 180 DAA, tiller height and technological analysis of soluble solids (ºBrix), Pol (%) broth, Pol (%) cane, Fiber (%) and Purity (%) were made at 380 DAA. Initially all varieties presented intoxication symptoms due to herbicides. The inhibitors of ALS (imazapyr and imazapic) induced inhibition of growth, twisted leaves and purple coloration at 30 DAA. At 90 DAA the varieties did not present symptoms of phytotoxicity, being considered tolerant to the applied herbicides. Significant differences in tiller height, height of the plants, and technological quality were not observed due to treatments.
