One of the concerns related to airline services is the long time for transactions such as, the check-in process, due to the time required for each transaction and the number of transactions for each passenger. Also, the conventional check-in process also requires paper which its use is rapidly rising due to the increasing number of passengers. In this study, an NFC based system was applied to accelerate transactions and to reduce the use of paper. This study was theoretical research focusing on the implementation of mobile transaction in airports and NFC-based single identity. Little research discussing the check-in process in airports has focused on the use of SI. Many studies on the use of NFC are mainly about tracking baggage and baggage claim, yet they do not include the check-in process. This study found that the implementation of SI could accommodate the check-in process in airports and decrease the redudancy of passenger data. The result revealed that the application could uitilise SI to retrieve the citizenship data and reservation data, and check-in data. It could be concluded that the use of NFC in aiports could ease data management, shorten the check-in process, and validate citizenship data using with reservation data.

Airline ticket reservations can be completed via ticket counters or online. To reduce passenger data redundancy, Single Identity (SI) may be required to input passenger data. In Indonesia, SI is utilised in identity cards using Near Field Communication (NFC), called electronic Kartu Tanda Penduduk (e-KTP). However, the use of e-KTP is not optimal yet because it is still used in the same way as the conventional one. Data input using SI can be done by tapping the e-KTP on a NFC-enabled machine, and the user is required to select the passengers’ names. The process of data input may be simplified, resulting in a higher transaction speed. This research result demonstrated that there was a slight difference of the time required between the two methods for ticket reservations. The time efficiency using SI through ticket counters was 48%, while the online reservation using SI was 45%. Further research may implement the validation methods, such as using PIN or fingerprint.

The popularity of public transportation has increased as infrastructures have been repaired and other supporting facilities have been added. One of the facilities which can be added in the transportation system is the implementation of Near Field Communication in order to accelerate each transaction in the transportation system. In airports, transaction activities need to be done efficiently, like claiming baggage at the baggage carousel. The speed of transaction to claim the baggage depends on the number of officers, passengers, and the amount of baggage brought by the passengers. In the conventional system, the most effective way of getting the maximum speed of transaction is to have officers as many as the number of passengers, but this is not efficient regarding the use of human resources. The use of Near Field Communication can solve the problem related to the efficiency of resources, safety, and the increasing speed of transaction.

Accidents due to cross the lane (lane departure crash) of achieving 19% of all accidents. These accidents mostly caused because the driver is not concentrating or dozing. A device that can help the driver so that the vehicle does not exit lanes known as Active Lane Keeping Assist (ALKA). ALKA is a subsystem of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and is now used in several brands of cars namely Audi, BMW, and Ford. ALKA useful to help the driver, especially on roads with monotonous situations such as toll roads. This paper presents the development of fuzzy logic-based algorithm for ALKA. A battery toy car is used as a hardware simulation to test the algorithm in real time situation. The test results at three different speeds are slow, medium, and high indicate that the algorithm can work according to design.

Ride comfort on the highway often interrupted because drivers need to adjust the vehicle speed. Safe distance between vehicles should be maintained is the main reason. The situation of monotonous and high speed will increase the risk of accidents on highway. A device is required by the driver to adjust the vehicle speed during the long distance (cruise) driving on highway without neglecting the safety aspects. The device is known as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The ACC is a subsystem of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs) that serves to assist the driver during cruise driving. The working principle of the ACC is the vehicle speed set automatically so that the distance to the vehicle in front remains safe. This paper presents the development of fuzzy logic controller for ACC. The fuzzy inference method used in this study is Mamdani.
