This paper presents an update on partnerships in the information services field as of February 2005. Swets Information Services has partnered with INIST, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of CNRS, the French integrated scientific documentation center. The document delivery services of INIST will be integrated into SwetsWide, the Swets online service for the procurement, access and management of subscriptions and online information. The Special Libraries Association (SLA) and Elsevier has partnered to develop the SLA Online University professional development platform. Elsevier contributed a one-time gift of $60,000 to start up the effort; the gift was matched by SLA funding. SLA Online University is scheduled to appear on the web in late May 2005. It is expected to include more than 200 courses, as well as additional professional development resources. EOS International and WebFeat announced a partnership to supply EOS clients with simplified, simultaneous access to multiple database resources. The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) announced that Blackwell Publishing will handle the production, technical editing and publishing of the association's journals, Ground Water and Ground Water Monitoring and Remediation. NGWA will retain control of the publications.

Deals with the partnership between Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) and BioOne wherein CSA will create a bibliographic database that indexes research papers in the journals available through the full text service of BioOne. Background of the bibliographic database of BioOne.

This article reports that EBSCO Publishing has entered into an agreement with All Academic Inc. that will provide researchers with access to a growing collection of full-text conference papers from top scholarly societies. EBSCO's partnership with All Academic will bring nearly 25,000 full-text conference papers into appropriate EBSCOhost databases including Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, and Communication Mass Media Complete. The companies anticipate that approximately 20,000 records will be added to EBSCOhost databases on an annual basis beginning in 2005. According to Tim Collins, EBSCO's vice president and division general manager, the partnership represents an important step for EBSCOhost researchers as well as authors contributing their works as part of conference proceedings. In a statement by Collins, he said that with content from All Academic, EBSCO is providing an avenue for societies dedicated to virtually any area of study to share their associated papers with a larger audience outside the realm of their individual conferences. In addition, he stated that with many highly regarded associations participating with All Academic, the quality of such a content is outstanding.

The article reports on the partnership between Google and 17 schools for a pilot program to enable searching among DSpace repositories, in July 2004. DSpace is an open-source software designed to assist colleges and universities in creating, managing, and maintaining digital repositories. There are currently about 125 schools using this software, but no tool existed that enabled searching across repositories instead of just within them. The number of documents available for searching has been one point of contention for DSpace. Each of the 17 participants had an average of 1,000 papers in its digital archive. While some universities had considerably more than 1,000 documents, most hovered around 100 and many had considerably fewer.
