The Krapperup drill core from Scania (Skane), southern Sweden, includes one of the most important graptolitic Darriwilian (upper Middle Ordovician) successions of Baltica. Only some intervals have been documented previously and especially the uppermost part of the succession has been completely unknown. A fairly complete succession of mid- to late Darriwilian age provides insight into the early evolution of the axonophoran (biserial) graptolites and demonstrates a distinct biogeographical faunal differentiation during this time. Graptolites from the mid-Darriwilian Holmograptus lentus and Nicholsonograptus fasciculatus biozones are discussed and important specimens and species from the Krapperup drill core are illustrated. Ekstroemograptus inexpectatus n. gen., n. sp. from the Holmograptus lentus Biozone is described as new.

In this study, dimensional, physical, visual and thermal comfort properties of fabrics knitted with elastic core cotton slub yarns were analyzed. The yarn production methods (core slub yarn and conventional slub yarn) were also compared according to the fabric properties. Additionally, the influence of slub yarn production parameters (slub thickness ratio and slub length) on the previously mentioned properties were investigated. The results indicated that elastic core fabrics produced with slub length 10 mm exhibited lower spirality property than the other fabrics. Electrospun liquid crystal fibres are promising media for gas sensing. However, accurately quantifying their response has been a challenge and until now limited to optical changes which utilise lasers and bulky detectors hindering the use for wear-able sensors. Herein, we make use of the resistive changes of the liquid crystal core polymer fibre mats (LCC-PFM) when exposed to volatile organic compounds (VOC). We found that these LCC-PFMs show reversible sensing of acetone at room temperature with response (recovery) times of ~14 (21) seconds and sensitivity as low as 10 ppm. This is comparable to the currently used metal-oxide-based sensors which typically operate at temperatures above 200 ��C. These fibre mats are flexible, lightweight and in principle, can be easily miniaturised for use as resistive sensors to as small as 10 ��m linear dimensions.
