Abstract

The Bi(NO3)3.5H2O mediated synthesis of α-hydroxyphosphonates via phosphonylation of aldehydes is reported herein. Both conventional and microwave technology was efficiently applied to range of aromatic, heteroaromatic, α,β-unsaturated aldehydes under solvent-free conditions. The solvent free conditions, avoidance of toxic reagents and excellent yield are some of the remarkable features of this protocol to access the medicinally privileged structure, α-hydroxyphosphonates.

Abstract

An efficient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of 2-ethoxycarbonyl indoles from commercially available materials has been developed. The one-step procedure involves in situ formation of the hydrazones from phenylhydrazine hydrochloride and ethyl pyruvate in the presence of bismuth nitrate followed by Fischer cyclization in polyphosphoric acid and ethanol. This method is efficient and simple.

Abstract

Ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 thin films were prepared by metalorganic decomposition (MOD) using titanium butoxide and bismuth nitrate. Multi-layer thin films were spin coated and pre-fired at 350 and 450[ddot]C for 30 min, respectively. The influence of pre-firing process on the structural and electric properties were characterized by differential thermal analyses (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD). dielectric and ferroelectric analyses. In comparison with the two pre-fired samples for the same film thickness (0.86 μm) and same annealing temperature (600[ddot]C for 30 min) we got non-crystalline and crystalline thin films for pre-fired at 350[ddot]C and 450[ddot]C respectively. The grain size and mode value of internal strain (pressed), calculated by Hall method from the shift and broadening of the XRD peaks, in Bi4Ti3O12 thin films pre-fired at 350[ddot]C were smaller than that pre-fired at 450[ddot]C The dielectric constants of the films pre-fired at 350[ddot]C were smaller than that pre-fired at 450[dd...
