To compare and investigate the essential oil constituents, total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of Zingiber officinale Roscoe from two different altitudes of Uttarakhand. Essential oil obtained from ginger rhizomes by Clevenger apparatus were characterized by Gas chromatography - Mass spectroscopy. Constituents accounting, of 82.36% from higher altitude and 84.44% of lower altitude, were identified. The oil was subjected to screening for their possible activity by means of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and metal chelating assay. Results from the study indicate that essential oil of ginger from higher altitude possess good antioxidant potential as compared to lower altitude. Both antioxidant assays showed significant negative correlation and total phenolic content showed significant positive correlation with altitude of collection place. Compact antenna-coupled split-ring resonator-based sensors have been designed, fabricated, and tested for sensing glucose concentration in blood plasma. Both circular and square type metallic ring is integrated along with two monopole antennas upon a dielectric substrate, which exhibits a resonance frequency of 1.9 GHz and 8.3 GHz, respectively. The effect of defected ground plane is also investigated which is observed to produce a deep rejection frequency band with sharp cutoff resonant frequency. The SRRs exhibit a shift in resonant frequency with change in reflection coefficient when subjected to blood plasma with different concentration of glucose.

The plant Murraya paniculata L. (locally known as Kamini) collected from two different locations of Uttarakhand were subjected to hydrodistillation for the isolation of essential oils which yielded about 0.6 % oil in both the collections. The essential oils of both the collections were studied for their chemical composition and antifungal activity against two phytopathogenic fungi such as Rhizoctonia solani and Sclerotium rolfsii. The GC-FID analysis revealed the presence of over 10 compounds in each essential oil of which over 11–14 constituents have been identified which contribute 86.99 % and 76.25 % of the total oil respectively. Both the collections were dominated by sesquiterpenoids. This paper describes the effect of ionizing radiation on the interface properties of Al/Ta2O5/Si metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) capacitors using capacitance–voltage (C–V) and current–voltage (I–V) characteristics. The devices were irradiated with X-rays at different doses ranging from 100 rad to 1 Mrad. The leakage behavior, which is an important parameter for memory applications of Al/Ta2O5/Si MOS capacitors, along with interface properties such as effective oxide charges and interface trap density with and without irradiation has been investigated. Lower accumulation capacitance and shift in flat band voltage toward negative value were observed in annealed devices after exposure to radiation. The increase in interfacial oxide layer thickness after irradiation was confirmed by Rutherford Back Scattering measurement.
