Self-neglect in old age has severe effects on a person's health and quality of life and poses diverse challenges for primary caregivers and the community. The authors provide a narrative overview of the literature on self-neglect and summarize what is known to date about the main approaches for describing self-neglect, the factors that contribute to self-neglect, and the interventions that have been attempted. We found that answering the question about what factors led people into a state of self-neglect was extremely complex since many studies described a variety of interlinked factors, some of which are sociocultural and others medical. Our analysis suggested a need for a consolidated approach that focuses instead on the vulnerabilities affecting an older person and the factors that can improve resilience to adversity. Tackling vulnerability and resilience may hold the keys to successful multidisciplinary and person-centered management of self-neglect in older age.

Rugby Sevens is a high intensity, intermittent team sport set to debut at the 2016 Olympic games. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between individual and team match actions and points scored and conceded. Individual and team match actions were analysed from 16 teams from 37 matches during an International Rugby Board Sevens World Series tournament as well as 50 matches from a single team across a season. Attacking and defensive performance indicators were modelled for their relationship with points scored and conceded, respectively, through general linear mixed-effects models. All attacking and defensive indicators had clear within and between-team effects on points scored and conceded. Rugby sevens is a sport that requires a multitude of well-developed physical fitness qualities. Understanding the degree to which different physical characteristics relate to match performance provides practitioners with useful information for training programme design. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the relationship between physical characteristics and activities related to success in rugby sevens matches. Fitness test and match activity data were collected from 40 international and provincial rugby sevens players. Sprint speed over 10 m and 40 m had moderate to large (0.32-0.51) negative correlations (r) with line breaks, defenders beaten and tackle effectiveness. Repeated sprint ability and maximal aerobic capacity were moderately related to a measure of work rate (~0.38). Mixed-model analysis revealed a decrease of two between-player standard deviations in 10 m sprint time to be associated with an increase of 74% more line breaks per match. The results of this study suggest multiple physical characteristics are related to match performance in rugby sevens.

During the past few years the prevailing methodology in the art history departments of many universities has shifted. The connoisseurship, formalist studies, and other object-centered approaches taught by older scholars have in many cases been replaced, or at least leavened, by the interest among younger facuty members in interdisciplinary studies and so-called contextualist art history, in which the social, political, or economic backgrounds or implications of art objects are regarded with as much interest as the works themselves. Because of this methodological change, much of the art history research now being done requires a familiarity with resources that have, until quite recently, been outside the purview of most art historians.
