- Abstract
Nusaybin is located on the east-west trade routes and has a deep-rooted historical background. Because of this importance, Nusaybin, which has been used as a residential area since the early ages, has been named differently by the dominant states or communities. In the early times Roman-Parth and then the Byzantine-Sassani conflicts, it was at the center of the struggles between the mentioned civilizations because of its geographical and strategic location. This situation continued until the capture of Nusaybin and its surroundings by Muslims under the leadership of Iyad b. Ghanm in Hz. Omar period. From this period, the migration of Arab tribes to Nusaybin, which is generally under Muslim domination, has begun to increase. Especially the Taghlib tribe, which is connected to the Rebia tribe, constituted the population density in and around Nusaybin. In addition to these, the Kharijites increased their activities in the region as a result of the problems arising from the inner strife in Muslim society. Nusaybin and its surrounding, where the Kaysids were stationed during the Umayyads, became the center of the rebellions against the caliphate after the establishment of Abbasids. Parallel to the weakening of the Abbasids in the tenth century, emirs such as Hamdanids, Marwanids and Oqaylîds dominated the region. Indeed, from the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks, who intensified their activities in al-Djazira, ended the hegemony of the Abbasids on al-Jazirah as a judge after a while. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
