Many networks including assembly process networks are found to divide naturally into modules. Therefore, modular process design is frequently applied in many domains. This study proposes a new method for identification of optimal modularity level of assembly process structures, which can be used in case of early stage design when there is explicit requirement to design process structure with optimal modularity level. In order to verify applicability of the proposed indicator, it will be tested and compared with anther optimal modularity measure. For this purpose, selected types of assembly process structures will be used. Moreover, the intention of this paper is also to outline mutual relation between relative modularity measures and optimal modularity measures.
