There is an increasing demand for the transparency and traceability in food supply chain. From the raw material to the sale of goods, more and more information needs to be gathered and made available. Supplementary information may also be collected at any step, in order to provide data for analysis and optimization of production practices. Intelligent Information Technology such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology and Electronic Ordering System (EOS) has had tremendous impact on manufacturing, transportation, retailing, customer services and so on. This paper will begin with a presentation of the status of China's food logistics, thereby, providing a general overview on the applications and development prospects of intelligent information technology in food logistics.

On the basis of the analysis to the problems existing in the present Web application development, it is put forward that Web application and service can be framed with active service component. Both the system architecture and the work flow are described, and the component used to realize active service is designed. The active service and the component are applied to the investigation system of specialty provision, and the results of system testing show that it is featured in more extendibility, flexible use and convenient maintenance to frame Web application programs with active service component, and in this way, it can perceive user’s service demands actively. By using this investigation system, it is easy to realize individualization and special services.
