Biodegradability of 5 kinds of industry wastewater (food-processing wastewater, coking plant wastewater, paper mill wastewater, kier wastewater and black liquor in paper industry) was studied using Warburg respirometer and simulated oxidation pond. Results showed a positive correlation exists between the oxygen consumption rate R% and the ratio of BOD5/COD. Treating industrial wastewater by oxidation pond, the COD removal efficiency eta% of each wastewater was calculated. Among the three parameters, interrelated coefficient of R% and eta% is 0.9593, while the value of BOD5/COD and % is only 0.7881 which indicating R% could be used to evaluate the biodegradability of industrial wastewater.
