Abstract

We report preliminary wafer level measurement results of air coupled mathrm S mathrm c 0 15 mathrm A mathrm l 0 85 mathrm N pMUTs recently fabricated in our Lab in Fab 8 inch line In this work we show that the mathrm K mathrm t 2 and mechanical performance of the devices are correlated to the resonant frequency in connection to film stress At lower film stresses the electromechanical coupling mathrm K mathrm t 2 can reach typical values of 3 While ScAlN based pMUTs of similar levels of doping concentration have been reported previously mathrm K mathrm t 2 has been limited to approximately 2 1 In this work the effects of varying tensile film stress have been recorded to show drastic changes to Kt2 causing variations on the wafer level from 0 5 to 3 in relation to the induced local stress The effect on the resonant frequency of the device was also recorded ranging from 157kHz to 215kHz These effects were also validated mechanically under an LDV that show displacement transfer variations of 224 to 557nm V whereby the transfer is inversely proportional to the amount of tensile stress

Abstract

We report preliminary wafer level measurement results of air coupled phase vapor deposition PVD PZT pMUTs for ranging applications recently fabricated in our Lab in Fab 8 inch line Dual port PVD PZT pMUTs designed to resonate in the 100kHz range were fabricated based on a boldsymbol 2 mu mathbf m thick PZT film on a boldsymbol 4 mu mathbf m thick silicon diaphragm The standard deviation of the PZT stack capacitance was 2 across the wafer Despite the sensitivity of compliant diaphragms to film residual stress the standard deviation of frequency was 5 Out of 16 sites across wafer probed all devices were verified to be in good working condition Given the strong piezoelectric constant of the PZT film mathbf e boldsymbol 31 mathbf f boldsymbol sim 16 mathbf C mathbf m boldsymbol 2 and compliance of the diaphragm designed for ranging applications we demonstrate large tunability in frequency 120 210kHz mathbf K mathbf t boldsymbol 2 1 7 3 and quality factor 50 100 for a bias voltage range of0 40V Results have been obtained without poling of the PVD PZT film No unresponsive devices were found

Abstract

This manuscript proposes the design of a 28 GHz antenna system that is capable of generating at the same time five orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes with aligned far-field antenna patterns. The antenna system includes a radial line slot antenna (RLSA), based on radial waveguide technology, which is fed by two Butler networks: one is $8 \times 8$ and the other is $16 \times 16$ . The Butler matrix networks are able to generate various progressive phase states for the RLSA to enable simultaneous generation of five concentric OAM beams with right hand circular polarization (RHCP). The proposed design could be utilized for increasing spectral efficiency by multiplexing a separate data stream onto each transmitted OAM beam and performing partial-aperture OAM reception in line-of-sight (LOS) communications in 6G. The experimental results performed on the antenna prototype reveal the effective performance of the proposed antenna system.

Abstract

In this paper we document for the first time some of the effects of self-healing, a property of orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) or vortex beams, as observed on a millimeter-wave experimental communications link in an outdoors line-of-sight (LOS) scenario. The OAM beams have a helical phase and polarization structure, and have conical amplitude shape in the far field. The Poynting vectors of the OAM beams also possess helical structures, orthogonal to the corresponding helical phase-fronts. Due to such non-planar structure in the direction orthogonal to the beam axis, OAM beams are a subset of “structured light” beams. Such structured beams are known to possess self-healing properties when partially obstructed along their propagation axis, especially in their near fields, resulting in partial reconstruction of their structures at larger distances along their beam axis. This has practical implications in siting antennas where obstructions due to people or vegetation may occur. Various theoretical rationales have been proposed to explain, model and experimentally verify the self-healing physical effects in structured optical beams, using various types of obstructions and experimental techniques. Based on these models, we hypothesize that any self-healing observed will be greater as the OAM order increases. Here we observe the self-healing effects for the first time in structured OAM radio beams, in terms of communication signals and channel parameters rather than beam structures. We capture the effects of partial near-field obstructions of OAM beams of different orders on the communications signals, and provide a physical rationale to substantiate that the self-healing effect was observed to increase with the order of OAM, agreeing with our hypothesis.

Abstract

There are many organizations interested in sharing data with others, and they can do this only if a secure platform is available. Such platforms, often referred to as Digital Data Marketplaces (DDMs), require that all of the transactions follow the agreements which are established by the participating organizations. However, translating high-level sharing policies and setting up such an infrastructure is still a big challenge.Our work shows that containers and overlay networks can be deployed to construct a sharing platform considering security and performance aspects. We introduce an architecture for handling sharing requests in a container-based platform with focusing on improving security. We define three container connectivity: Overlay per DDM, Overlay per request, and Overlay per group. Our security analysis shows that the method "Overlay per request"is more secure against cross-container attacks. In terms of the time taken to complete the sharing requests, the difference between methods is small.

Abstract

This paper presents a comparative study of different approaches to minimize the torque ripples of an industrial brushless surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. First, the torque ripple reduction is tackled at the motor component level during the design phase by minimizing the cogging torque and designing a sinusoidal back emf motor through a multi-objective optimization process. Second, the torque ripples minimization is approached directly through a single objective optimization with constraints to yield minimum torque ripples while satisfying the rated torque requirement. And lastly, the method of producing a smooth motor running rated torque through the adjustment of the drive current is considered. The benefits and inconveniences of each approach are discussed with the perspective of the balance between optimum designs and production costs.

Abstract

This paper presents a parametrized optimization with constraints associated to a current searching method. The goal of the optimization is to minimize the torque ripples of an interior permanent magnet powertrain electric motor over the maximum torque-speed curve by injecting current harmonics into the power supply. The resulting current harmonics table can be used as a look-up table for the motor drive controller to reduce motor torque ripples at given torque-speed operating points. This paper also evaluates the impact of the current harmonic injection on the iron losses in the motor stator and rotor, and on the eddy current losses in the magnet.

Abstract

Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM) is a computational imaging technique that combines a large field of view and high-resolution. It stitches low-resolution images captured under varying illumination corresponding to different angles in the frequency domain to realize quantitative phase imaging with high spatial bandwidth product. Our previous algorithm (AA algorithm) effectively solves the problem of noise interference and the algorithm is difficult to converge. In FPM experiments, the fluctuation of LED intensity is inevitable, which significantly affects the quality of reconstructed images. The usual solution is to perform intensity correction in the reconstruction algorithm. However, in this study, it is found that the AA algorithm is incompatible with the intensity correction method, which will decrease the convergence performance. To solve this problem, we develop a more general reconstruction algorithm based on the AA algorithm in this study. The simulation and experimental results show that the improved algorithm framework is compatible with the intensity correction method, resulting in an increase in intensity correction reliability and effectiveness. Compared with the GS and AS methods with intensity correction, the error in reconstruction results can be reduced by 52.03% and 29.35%, respectively, without increasing the amount of calculation.

Abstract

Tree mining has many useful applications in areas such as Bioinformatics, XML mining, Web mining, etc. In general, most of the formally represented information in these domains is a tree structured form. In this paper we focus on mining frequent embedded subtrees from databases of rooted labeled ordered subtrees. We propose a novel and unique embedding list representation that is suitable for describing embedded subtrees. This representation is completely different from the string-like or conventional adjacency list representation previously utilized for trees. We present the mathematical model of a breadth-first-search Tree Model Guided (TMG) candidate generation approach previously introduced in [8]. The key characteristic of the TMG approach is that it enumerates fewer candidates by ensuring that only valid candidates that conform to the structural aspects of the data are generated as opposed to the join approach. Our experiments with both synthetic and real-life datasets provide comparisons against one of the state-of-the-art algorithms, TreeMiner [15], and they demonstrate the effectiveness and the efficiency of the technique.

This paper presents the survey of these new algorithms that have been proposed, studies how the most well-known algorithm â proportional fair â has been propositionally modified, and discusses the new challenges for scheduling task in downlink of LTE-Advanced system.
