Abstract

This paper introduces a flexible and extendable easy-to-use energy system integration development kit: the Illuminator. The Illuminator illustrates challenges arising from the energy transition. Hence, it is suitable in education and for demonstration. It also acts as a sandbox for testing new research concepts, and particularly, distributed energy coordination algorithms in real and non-real time. The Illuminator technology is primarely a modular software platform developed to run on a Raspberry Pi (RasPi) cluster. It is open-source, available at GitHub and developed in Python. The Illuminator comprises models of common energy technologies, such as photovoltaic (PV) panels, wind turbines, batteries, and hydrogen systems. The uniqueness of the Illuminator is in its modularity and flexibility to reconfigure scenarios and cases on the fly, even by non-experts in a plug-and-play fashion. Abstract

Systems of Systems (SoS) and the challenges they present are very complex. The National Health Service (NHS) is one such complex system within the UK that is facing a number of challenges. These range from an ageing and growing population with evolving healthcare needs, to increasing costs and reliance on private services. As such, a number of programmes and models have been introduced to transform care. Digital-first Primary Care (DfPC) is one such example. DfPC allows for faster and improved patient access to primary care by providing the choice of telephone and online consultations via the patient's GP practice or digital GP providers. The DfPC model has been at the forefront of primary care during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, hence the need for current research to evaluate its impact, suitability, and value in a post-pandemic world. Whilst this area is of high interest in the research community, there exists a gap in the method of analysis used. In this paper, the case for a soft systems methodology approach to DfPC is put forward. It aims to highlight the complexity of the NHS, and the benefits and challenges with online consultations, with initial findings by way of pilot interviews with GPs also being put forth.

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to use MATLAB Simulink to monitor the maximum power available in the wind energy conversion system modelling for de microgrid applications. MPPT based pitch angle controller in this paper to monitor the maximum power generated by wind energy conversion system. WECS data which is liberated of the wind turbine and system specifications. In this paper used 3-phase diode bridge rectifiers and DC-DC buck converters as power electronics converters. In this paper also simplify the wind energy conversion system by monitoring and varying the pitch angle with the assistance of MPPT controller in order to keep track of the systems full capacity. As a result, WECS able to provide the full amount of power for DC microgrid applications
