Discontinuous conduction mode is often used in boost power factor correction converter. This article proposes a unified control method to achieve both pulsewidth modulation control and pulse frequency modulation control, which is based on the virtual impedance principle. The control modes can easily be changed by only adjusting one control parameter. Consequently, by comprehensively considering current ripple, switching frequency, and efficiency, the converter can operate flexibly in the situation of variable loads. This article first introduces the operation principle of the proposed unified control method. Then, the operation condition for each control mode is discussed. Besides, the current ripple, the switching frequency, and the power loss are analyzed. Finally, the experimental results of steady-state test and load switching test are presented. And the efficiency of the converter is more than 95% in the range from half load to full load. These experimental results fully verify the effectiveness of the proposed control. Aircraft attitude has always been an important technical parameter during flights, especially for stages such as aircraft take-off and landing. This article presents a monocular off-board vision system for relative attitude measurement of fixed-wing aircraft. In this system, a zoom imaging subsystem is set up to track and shoot the aircraft over a large distance range. Image sequences and corresponding servo data are transmitted to the processing computer for vision algorithms. A model-based attitude tracking algorithm, which requires the computer-aided design model of the aircraft, is performed to measure the relative attitude of the aircraft with respect to the reference platform. A 2-D visual tracking algorithm and a target detection algorithm are also employed to control the vision system. The proposed attitude tracking algorithm achieves competitive results on a publicly available dataset. The full system is validated in a real-flight experiment. The results revealed that the proposed system can run in real time on 1920×1080@40 Hz videos with an accuracy better than 0.5 $^\circ$. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Automatic battery equalizers require no sensing circuits, which reduces their cost, size, and complexity. However, among existing methods, additional resistors or diodes are used in the balancing paths to ensure safe operation, which degrades the conversion efficiency and balancing speed. To overcome this problem, this article proposes an equalizer architecture based on the half-bridge LLC converter. The inherent current limitation characteristic of the proposed equalizer improves the balancing speed. High conversion efficiency is achieved due to the soft-switching operations of the switches. The circuit topology and working modes are presented first, then the features of voltage equalization, inherent current limitation, and soft-switching conditions are analyzed in detail. Sheppard–Taylor power factor correction (ST-PFC) rectifier could obtain a high power factor due to its capability of overcoming the control detuning issue. However, it needs a bulky electrolytic capacitor at the load side to buffer the double-frequency ripple power (DFRP), which reduces the reliability and power density significantly. This paper proposes a control method to divert the DFRP to the small energy transfer capacitor. Consequently, the bulky electrolytic capacitor is replaced with a small film capacitor. The proposed method is carried out by introducing the freewheel state (one switch is turned on and the other is turned off) into the control. So no extra hardware is added, which makes the proposed method cost-effective. A low electromagnetic interference emission is also achieved due to the continuous input–output currents. In addition, the proposed method can be extended to other topologies easily. This paper first gives the detailed analysis of the proposed control method, and then introduces the controller design.
