12. Multiwavelength Laser Module Based on Distribute Feedback Laser Diode for Broadcast and Communication Systems.

Abstract

In this paper, we proposed a cost-effective broadcast signal transmission scheme using a distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD) for wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) systems. The DFB-LD is directly modulated with a single-tone radio frequency signal to generate multiple optical carriers. An optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) is enhanced using a delay interferometer as a double-pass interferometer. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and on-off keying (OOK) signals are experimentally demonstrated to test the broadcasting scheme. We measured the bit-error-rate (BER) and the power penalty after the broadcasting OFDM and OOK signals are transmitted through a 25-km single-mode fiber. An excellent performance of BER is achieved for both OOK and OFDM signals. The proposed scheme is a practical and cost-effective solution for broadcast signal transmissions in WDM-PON systems. Abstract

In this paper, we attempt the theoretical modeling of the magnetic tunnel junctions with embedded magnetic and nonmagnetic nanoparticles (NPs). A few abnormal tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) effects, observed in related experiments, can be easily simulated within our model: we found, that the suppressed TMR magnitudes and the TMR sign-reversing effect at small voltages are related to the electron momentum states of the NP located inside the insulating layer. All these TMR behaviors can be explained within the tunneling model, where NP is simulated as a quantum well (QW). The coherent double barrier tunneling is dominating over the single barrier one. The origin of the TMR suppression is the quantized angle transparency for spin polarized electrons being in one of the lowest QW states. The phenomenon was classified as the quantized conductance regime due to restricted geometry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A very high density of 23 fF/μm² has been measured in RF metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors which use high-κ TaTiO as the dielectric. In addition, the devices show a small reduction of 1.8% in the capacitance, from 100 kHz to 10 GHz. Together with these characteristics the MIM capacitors show low leakage currents and a small voltage-dependence of capacitance at l GHz.
