Abstract

Mean-field games (MFG) were introduced to efficiently analyze approximate Nash equilibria in large population settings. In this work, we consider entropy-regularized mean-field games with a finite state-action space in a discrete time setting. We show that entropy regularization provides the necessary regularity conditions, that are lacking in the standard finite mean field games. Such regularity conditions enable us to design fixed-point iteration algorithms to find the unique mean-field equilibrium (MFE). Furthermore, the reference policy used in the regularization provides an extra parameter, through which one can control the behavior of the population. We first consider a stochastic game with a large population of $N$ homogeneous agents. We establish conditions for the existence of a Nash equilibrium in the limiting case as $N$ tends to infinity, and we demonstrate that the Nash equilibrium for the infinite population case is also an $\epsilon$-Nash equilibrium for the $N$-agent system, where the sub-optimality $\epsilon$ is of order $\mathcal{O}\big(1/\sqrt{N}\big)$. Finally, we verify the theoretical guarantees through a resource allocation example and demonstrate the efficacy of using a reference policy to control the behavior of a large population.

Abstract

A novel Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) control strategy added feedforward link used for wide input voltage range inverter is proposed. The input voltage is sampled in real time and the sampled values are taken into account, and thus a quick response to the change of input voltage can be achieved. Different form previous researches, the modified SVPWM control strategy presented in this paper is simple and easy to implement without any extra complexity of inverter topology and without switching between different control modes. This method has been applied in the five-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter with high frequency link, and the simulation model with 80∼780VDC input, 320VAC output, and the THD of output voltage less than 2% is established using the software Power Simulation (PSIM). The THD of output voltage are all less than 2% no matter the input voltage varies or stays at anywhere among this range. The feasibility and effectiveness of the modified SVPWM control strategies proposed are well verified by the simulation results.

Abstract

One of the important goals of a smart city is to increase the quality of urban mobility. This paper will explore the use of dynamic tariffs for this purpose. Transactive control, the concept of feedback through economic transactions, is a promising concept for accomplishing such dynamic tariffs, and is the focus of this paper. Two specific examples of transactive control are considered in this paper, the first of which is the synthesis of dynamic toll prices with the goal of reducing traffic congestion in highways. We examine how a model-based approach can result in optimal toll pricing schemes. Sociotechnical models that combine behavioral models of drivers and traffic flow models, together with real-time traffic information obtained from on-road sensors are used to determine the transactive control strategies. The overall pricing strategy is evaluated using real traffic data from an existing dynamic toll-pricing framework. The second example of transactive control is in the context of Mobility on Demand (MoD), where new modes of transportation other than private and public are being proposed, providing a smorgasbord of options for passengers. We investigate a dynamic routing concept for multipassenger transport, and propose a transactive control strategy to regulate the achievable performance around desired values. 39. Two New Families of Two-Weight Codes.

Abstract

We construct two new infinite families of trace codes of dimension 2m , over the ring \mathbb {F}_{p}+u\mathbb {F}_{p} , with u^{2}=u , when p is an odd prime. They have the algebraic structure of abelian codes. Their Lee weight distribution is computed by using Gauss sums. By Gray mapping, we obtain two infinite families of linear p -ary codes of respective lengths and 2(p^m-1)^2 . When m is singly even, the first family gives five-weight codes. When m is odd and p\equiv 3 \pmod {4} , the first family yields p$ -ary two-weight codes, which are shown to be optimal by application of the Griesmer bound. The second family consists of two-weight codes that are shown to be optimal, by the Griesmer bound, whenever $p=3$ and $m \ge 3$ , or $p\ge 5$ and $m\ge 4$ . Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel graph-based semisupervised learning framework, called joint sparse representation and embedding propagation learning (JSREPL). The idea of JSREPL is to join EPL with sparse representation to perform label propagation. Like most of graph-based semisupervised propagation learning algorithms, JSREPL also constructs weights graph matrix from given data. Different from classical approaches which build weights graph matrix and estimate the labels of unlabeled data in sequence, JSREPL simultaneously builds weights graph matrix and estimates the labels of unlabeled data. We also propose an efficient algorithm to solve the proposed problem. The proposed method is applied to the problem of semisupervised image clustering using the ORL, Yale, PIE, and YaleB data sets. Abstract

On a GaN smart power integrated circuit (IC) platform, a highly linear (i.e., proportional to absolute temperature) temperature sensor IC is demonstrated for building voltage references as well as temperature compensation functional blocks. The circuit is designed based on the temperature-dependent characteristics of GaN-based peripheral devices (e.g., heterojunction Schottky barrier diode, enhancement-/depletion-mode high electron mobility transistors, and lateral field-effect rectifiers) that are monolithically integrated with high-voltage power devices. This monolithic integration scheme facilitates the design efforts in taking full advantages of GaN’s superior capability to operate at high temperatures.
