Libya suffers from a lack of organized climate information and data, which is the cornerstone for building and simulating renewable energy systems. In this work the Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) data for Tripoli city was generated and analyzed using practical measured weather data of 16 years, such data includes wind speed, ambient temperature and global solar radiation measured every 10 minutes interval. Finkelstein Schafer method have been used to analyze these data and to perform the TMY for Tripoli. Typical meteorological months (TMMs) were carefully chosen by selecting months with the lowest deviation from the long-term cumulative distribution function. it was been found that the generated TMY and long-term averages was in close agreement. The generated TMY will be an active tool for the optimal design and performance assessment of many types of renewable energy systems like solar power system, heating, wind energy systems, and any other application to be located in Tripoli district.

Current work presents an Optimal design of a hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) for the purpose of powering mobile base stations in Libya using renewable energy sources. HRES including wind turbine, PV panels, batteries, diesel generator, and grid were modeled in order to get the Optimal configuration of the designed HRES. Homer software were used for such analysis. One of the economic measures used for the evaluation of such HRES is the cost of energy (COE), it was found that, such cost varies from 0.106 to 0.154 $/kWh for grid connected HRES. And it varies from 0.184 to 0.263 $/kWh for standalone HRES located in remote and low populated areas. On the other hand, each single Base Station (BS) would save the environment from about 14,924 kg of CO 2 and 63 kg of SO 2 in Sabha-Libya.It is being found that a HRES is one of the excellent solutions for mobile base stations as it will overcome the power cut problems which leads to an interruptible power supply for mobile base stations and avoids communication interruptions for the mobile users.

Renewable energy systems are placed to become the best power solution for many applications. Recently, a multi-sources systems were used widely as a reliable and flexible power system construction, these systems used the multi-input converter (MIC) as a replacement of several single-input converters which leads to a simpler and lower cost circuit. In this paper, a multi-input converter (MIC) to process multi-source power is proposed and compared in different topology, a three common structure of these converters based on interleaving technique and using Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM) loop as a controller was presented. While each of these converters operate at interleaving mode, better performance can be achieved and the size also is reduced. Analysis of the converters are carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve the dynamic performance. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the advantages and performance comparison of the proposed converters. The ADM control loop provides a number of features like very fast response and high stability with input voltage or output load variation which also maintained.

In this paper a parallel multi-input converter (PMIC) to process multi-source electrical power is proposed, designed and simulated. This converter is based on interleaving technique and use Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM) loop as a controller, As the converter operates in interleaving mode, better performance can be achieved and the physical size is also reduced. Analysis of the converter is carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve its dynamic performance. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the advantages of the proposed converter. The performance of the PMIC with ADM control loop provides a number of features such as very fast response, a very good reference signal tracking and high stability with input voltage or output load variations.

The conventional structure of the renewable street lighting systems required two converters. A buck converter used for battery charging during the day, and a boost converter used to supply power to the lighting system from the battery during night. Combining the two converters is desirable as both cost and size are reduced. In this paper, a novel structure of a modular interleaved DC/DC converter with PWM/PID control technique for renewable street lighting system is presented. During the day, the proposed converter works in a buck mode and is used to charge the battery. at night, the converter works in a boost mode to provide power to the lighting system. Analysis of the converter is carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve its dynamic performance. The operating principle and boundary conditions are discussed too. All the advantages of interleaving technique, such as higher efficiency and reduced ripple for voltage/current, are also maintained. The simulation results are presented to show the performance of the proposed converter.

In this paper, a novel adaptive delta modulation (ADM) control scheme is proposed as a driver for an interleaved DC/DC power converter, analysis of the converter is carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve the dynamic performance. The output response characteristics obtained by this method is very much improved compared to the conventional methods. The proposed adaptive control scheme is verified on a 42V/14V interleaved DC/DC synchronous buck converter system. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method. The performance of the DC/DC converter system with ADM control loop provides a number of features that do not exist in today's electrical systems like very vast response. the simulation results are presented to fully demonstrate the theoretical analysis and the performance comparison of response between PWM with PID controller, simplified sigma delta modulation (SDM) control loop and the proposed ADM control loop.

A thorough and effective analysis of the converter is carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve the dynamic performance. The output response characteristics obtained by this method is very much improved compared to the conventional PWM and simplified sigma delta modulation control schemes. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the advantages of the proposed scheme. The performance of the DC/DC converter system with Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM) control loop provides a number of features that do not exist in today's electrical systems such as very vast response. All the advantages of interleaving, including higher efficiency and reduced ripple for voltage and current are all maintained in the proposed converter.

It is generally accepted that interleaving techniques are efficient at reducing the input/output ripples and increasing the power output of boost converters operating in critical conduction mode. This paper gives performance comparison between two famous techniques used to drive power switches; pulse width modulation (PWM) and simplified sigma delta modulation (SSDM). The control strategy of the first converter is based on a voltage mode-controlled Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) with a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller. Pulse width modulation (PWM) is used to produce the switching pattern. But this technique causes large switching noise peaks at a multiple number of the carrier frequency. The second converter is use SSDM control loop, the output response obtained by this method is very much improved compared to the conventional PWM method of control. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the advantages of the SSDM method and controller scheme. All the advantages of interleaving, such as higher efficiency and reduced ripple for voltage/current, are also achieved.
