Phase Change Materials (PCMs) are the best thermal energy storage materials. The waste warm liquid from power plants is directly sent to seas or rivers, which causes heat wastage and results in the death of aquatic life. To avoid this problem, the waste warm water from the power plants can be used for industries by using PCMs. The present research proposed to use this water for fish farms. The design to store the latent heat of PCMs was done in AUTOCAD, and the experiment result showed the successful use of waste warm water from the origin to destination.

This paper introduces a new approach to forecast daily stock trends by merging structured and unstructured datasets. This study intends to reveal the effectiveness of using supplemental datasets for accurate prediction of stock prices. A set of features, which is seemingly highly correlated with daily stock price variations, are selected using random forest optimization technique. Stock-relevant keywords that are extracted from news articles are converted into a time-series dataset in terms of temporal frequency. Convolution neural network (CNN) based deep learning models are generated separately for stock trading data and keyword frequencies from news articles, and two CNN models are merged together for training input datasets. The analysis results show that merging two different datasets may generate the better forecasting results than using stock trading datasets only. Additional issues for future analysis and implementations are discussed.

This paper introduces a new approach to forecast daily stock trends using the random forest technique. This study intends to include as many features as possible to hopefully describe various aspects of stock market trends. A number of features are selected for forecasting the trends of stock prices. The new algorithm adjusts optimal learning parameters during the data training process. The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by processing two stock datasets while analyzing its forecasting accuracy. Additional several technical issues for future implementations and analysis are suggested.

C-Rank {contribution-based ranking) is a state-of-the-art algorithm for ranking web pages. It combines content and link information by introducing the concept of contribution, which implies how much a page contributes to improving the content quality of other pages. However, C-Rank suffers from taking infeasible time to reflect changes in World Wide Web to every page's C-Rank score. In this paper, we propose an effective and efficient method to incrementally maintain C-Rank scores of terms in web pages. Our proposed method is carefully designed to selectively update C-Rank scores of specific pages without any accuracy loss, rather than re-computing all the C-Rank scores of all the terms in all the pages from the scratch. Our experimental results on real-world dataset confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed method.

We propose a method to train image representation to improve the performance of image Caption Generation. We use transfer learning CNN on sentences, and extract image representation with deep Fisher kernel. With this representation, we generate sentence with gLSTM and show the improvements in performance. In the experiment, we validate each steps of our method by comparing with previous state-of-the-art models.

There can be many types of heterogeneous computing systems, and the most useful one is the CPU and GPU computing system. In this system, we try to run QR decomposition, which expresses a standard real matrix as a production of two matrices. For a tiled QR decomposition algorithm, which is a parallelized version of QR decomposition, because of the heterogeneity of computing devices and communication cost, the way that each tile is distributed into which device is the main issue of tiled QR decomposition. The goal of this study is to optimize the tile distribution and the tiled QR decomposition operation mathematically, depending on the given system. We select the main computing device for the main steps of the algorithm, optimize the number of devices, and optimize the tile distribution among the devices using a distribution guide array. Our evaluation confirms that our method has good scalability and the optimization process maximizes the tiled QR decomposition performance.

Nowadays, due to the increase of the digital product which can be operated in dc voltage, the use of dc power has increased inside the electric appliances. As the appliances has been equipped with ac/dc converter to supply the driving voltage of dc voltage by ac/dc converter, there could occur the problems such as poor power factor, harmonic increase of the input current and the conversion loss. The hybrid distribution (HBD) system proposed in this study indicates the total system which is supplied to the all AC and DC loads at home by the renewable energy of PV system together with AC commercial source from the utility. In this paper is verified the operation principle and the feasibility of the designed HBD system. The twin systems are set up for the comparison of the conventional AC system and the proposed HBD system linked under the same conditions. Particularly the distribution efficiency, power factor and harmonic characteristics are investigated.

In this paper, a broadband left-handed (LH) rectangular waveguide is presented. The unit cell of the metamaterial structure consists of two double L-shaped short stubs and two E-plane posts in a rectangular waveguide. The E-plane posts are crossly connected to two stubs which are embodied in the top and bottom plane of a rectangular waveguide. The metamaterial waveguide is modeled as a 2-port network crossly connected equivalent circuit. It has a broad double negative (DNG) band and good transmission characteristic. The simulated and measured results of the LH waveguide constructed with 5 unit cells prove a broad LH band of 12.7%.

The sub-assembly strategy and tools for the complete 40° sector assembly have been developed to meet technical and functional requirements. Based on the concept of sub-assembly procedure and tools provided from ITER organization (IO), detailed procedure and relevant tools are developed by Korea domestic agency (KODA). Tools described in this paper contain upending tool, lifting tool, sector sub-assembly tool, radial beam with align units and mid-plane bracing tools. To verify the 6 degrees of freedom system for fine alignment of components, scaled-down mock -up has been manufactured and tested. This paper presents the overall 40° sector sub-assembly procedure, fundamental specifications of the relevant assembly tools and the current status of the mock-up developments.

It has been very interested pulsed bias etching system because of it's low electron temperature and good plasma uniformity. Low electron temperature can enhance etch selectivity and it is very crucial for oxide etching. In the pulse operation system, we must increase bias power to apply same power with respect to CW operation.

In case of maritime distress incidents, identifying the location of a victim is the foremost action in search and rescue activities. The existing search and rescue activities have been executed in the possible location identified by mayday of a victim or report from a witness of incidents. However, there are technical difficulties in precisely placing the location of a victim when a quite amount of time has passed before moving to the incident location. This study developed a system that provides the information on the victim's location using GPS in case of maritime distress incidents and passes an emergency call to a remote rescuer using wireless sensor networking technology. Furthermore, this study presents an embedded system for mayday reception based on a satellite map.

In this paper, a resonant slot array antenna of partial H-plane waveguide using inclined sidewall slots is proposed. The sidewall slots without edged sections in broad wall can be spaced by half a guided wavelength because the slots are embodied alternately in two sidewalls separated by a metal vane of partial H-plane waveguide having a phase difference of 180°. To design the array antenna, the dielectric filled sidewall slots with reduced resonant length are employed. Moreover, the cross section of the designed slot array antenna is reduced by 26% compared with that of conventional waveguide slot antenna. The simulated result shows that a partial H-plane slot antenna satisfies the desired return loss and radiation pattern at the operation frequency.

In this paper, the compact slot array antenna using partial H-plane is presented. The design antenna has one quarter cross section compared with that of conventional waveguide slot antenna. To design the antenna, the numerical design method is described and the slot array antenna is designed in S-band. The design results confirm that proposed antenna satisfy the array antenna performance in spite of its compactness. To verify, the proposed antenna is fabricated and the measured data are in good agreement with the simulated data.

In this paper, we propose a novel interactive integral imaging system using vision-based 3D fingertip interface. This system consists of the real 3D image generation system based on integral imaging technique and the interaction device using a real-time finger detection interface. The proposed system can be used in effective human computer interaction method for real 3D image. To show the usefulness of the proposed system, we carry out the preliminary experiment and the results are presented.

The high order CRLH bandpass filter is proposed using the first negative resonant mode. The design equation is derived to design the high order CRLH filter. The resonators of proposed filter are implemented by two unit-cells of mushroom structure supporting the first negative resonant mode of CRLH TL. The size of CRLH filter is reduced by 41% compared with that of conventional RH filter. The measured results show good agreements with simulated results.

A MIMO antenna system is a well-known technique to enhance the performance of wireless communication systems. In order to create a MIMO antenna system on wireless handy device, two or more antenna elements could be placed in very small space. Thus, in case of a MIMO antenna in mobile handy terminal, the mutual coupling including radiation pattern coupling between closely arrayed antenna elements causes the decrease of a MIMO antenna performance. It means that we must consider not only the antenna size but also the suitable antenna array method to design the MIMO antenna system for mobile handy terminal. In this research, a 2-channel MIMO WiBro antenna and 1-channel PCS band antenna are designed with consideration of the mutual coupling.

In this paper, a partial H-plane filter with attenuation pole is proposed. Basically, the proposed filter is compact waveguide filter because it is implemented by partial H-plane waveguide and designed by quarter wavelength resonators. The transmission zeros out of bandpass are obtained by admittance inverters with attenuation resonance without any extra space. The filter is designed in H-band and measured results are in good agreement with simulated results.

A novel internal antenna of compact 2-channel MIMO for handy terminal is presented for WiBro(Wireless Broadband Internet) which operating at 2.35 GHz band. The proposed antenna is designed for minimum space occupation on PCB board of a mobile device so that the circuit design of a mobile device is convenient. We investigated for the reduction of mutual coupling between antenna elements. To decrease the mutual coupling, a particular shape of ground structure is considered. By the adoption of the projected ground plane, the proposed antenna shows very low mutual coupling and also very low radiation coupling. The proposed antenna is well tuned in the 2.3 – 2.45 GHz WiBro band and have over 150 MHz (6%) bandwidth. The mutual coupling is under ‒17 dB at 2.35 GHz. Additionally, it is examined the Sparameters and radiation patterns with case of practical mobile device.

In this paper, we propose techniques converting odor information into digital data to provide representation, digital coding, and clustering of various odors for olfactory information communication. About forty emotional adjectives describing various kinds of odors are selected as expressional receptors. Each of the odors is expressed by a definite adjective. The odors expressed using emotional receptors are coded using a predetermined method for transmission. After being transmitted, the odor data is decoded using a fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering algorithm. Since the odor data are expressed in 40 dimensions, a longer computing times and a larger size of memory are required for FCM algorithm. To solve these problems, the dimensions of the data are reduced by principal component analysis (PCA) before using the FCM algorithm.

A small monopole antenna with novel impedance matching structure is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is designed for W-LAN (IEEE 802.11b). The antenna design concept is based on lambda/8 folded monopole antenna with self-impedance matching structure. The size if the proposed antenna is smaller than the resonant length, thus the impedance at the terminal of the antenna becomes very capacitive. To compensate the impedance miss-matching, the proposed antenna employed a novel self-impedance matching structure. The self-impedance matching structure is located on the top of antenna; it improves the impedance matching and ultimately the efficiency of antenna

A compact partial H-plane filter consisting of quarter wavelength resonators is proposed. The previously proposed partial H-plane filter [1] has the same pass-band responses as those of conventional E-plane filter, while its cross section is one quarter. The proposed filter in this paper is designed by utilizing quarter wavelength resonator, so its total length is further reduced and its spurious responses are improved. The filter is fabricated with coax to partial H-plane waveguide transition in H-band. Measured results are in good agreement with computed results.

This paper describes a novel method for suppressing mutual coupling between antenna elements for application in MIMO antenna design. To suppress mutual coupling, several parasitic elements were employed in the proposed MIMO array antennas. Due to the effect of these parasitic elements, mutual coupling is markedly reduced. The proposed method shows that the improvement of mutual coupling is at least 10dB compared with conventional MIMO antenna arrays

We prepared TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ thin films by sol-gel process and examined their optical, structural and photocatalytic properties as a function of film composition. The XRD results show that pure TiO/sub 2/ thin films are amorphous at 400/spl deg/C, transform into anatase at 500/spl deg/C, and further transform into rutile at 1000/spl deg/C. The grain size of TiO/sub 2/ thin films increases with increasing calcination temperature. Refractive indices of the pure TiO/sub 2/ and SiO/sub 2/ thin films are 2.10 and 1.40, respectively at 550 nm, and they decrease with increasing SiO/sub 2/ content in composite TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ films. Photocatalytic activity of TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ composite thin films decreases with increasing SiO/sub 2/ content.

We deposited composite Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5/-MgF/sub 2/ thin films by coevaporation, and explored their optical and mechanical properties. The refractive indices of pure Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5/ and MgF/sub 2/ films were 1.94/spl sim/2.15 and 1.38 at 550 nm wavelength, respectively. In the composite film system, the measured refractive index agreed well with the Lorentz-Lorenz formula and all films had tensile stress, in the range (0.7/spl sim/3.1)/spl times/10/sup 9/ dyne/cm/sup 2/, depending upon the film composition. The film stress did not vary linearly with the film composition.
