There are about 100 million m3 underground thermal water resource storage in Chongqing, and 13 thermal water samples were collected from the Chongqing metropolitan area and analyzed. The results shows that HCO3-, SO42-, Ca2+, Mg2+ are the main ions in all the thermal waters and the hydrochemical types of these thermal springs are all SO42--Ca and SO42--Ca-Mg, which suppose that all the thermal waters have the same recharge. What's more, a good positive correlation between SO42- and Ca2+, Mg24--reveals that SO42-, Ca2+, Mg2+ in these thermal waters have the same origin. But a little difference of hydrochemical characters between nature springs and drilling wells shows that thermal water in nature springs is a mixture of water in sandstone and water in thermal aquifer.
