Deep learning-based histopathology image classification is a key technique to help physicians in improving the accuracy and promptness of cancer diagnosis. However, the noisy labels are often inevitable in the complex manual annotation process, and thus mislead the training of the classification model. In this work, we introduce a novel hard sample aware noise robust learning method for histopathology image classification. To distinguish the informative hard samples from the harmful noisy ones, we build an easy/hard/noisy (EHN) detection model by using the sample training history. Then we integrate the EHN into a self-training architecture to lower the noise rate through gradually label correction. With the obtained almost clean dataset, we further propose a noise suppressing and hard enhancing (NSHE) scheme to train the noise robust model. Compared with the previous works, our method can save more clean samples and can be directly applied to the real-world noisy dataset scenario without using a clean subset. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the current state-of-the-art methods in both the synthetic and real-world noisy datasets. Although great progress has been made in generic object detection by advanced deep learning techniques, detecting small objects from images is still a difficult and challenging problem in the field of computer vision due to the limited size, less appearance, and geometry cues, and the lack of large-scale datasets of small targets. Improving the performance of small object detection has a wider significance in many real-world applications, such as self-driving cars, unmanned aerial vehicles, and robotics. In this article, the first-ever survey of recent studies in deep learning-based small object detection is presented. Our review begins with a brief introduction of the four pillars for small object detection, including multiscale representation, contextual information, super-resolution, and region-proposal. Then, the collection of state-of-the-art datasets for small object detection is listed. The performance of different methods on these datasets is reported later. Moreover, the state-of-the-art small object detection networks are investigated along with a special focus on the differences and modifications to improve the detection performance comparing to generic object detection architectures. Finally, several promising directions and tasks for future work in small object detection are provided. With the advanced development of image processing technology, visible light positioning (VLP) system based on image sensors has attracted more and more attention. However, as a commonly used light receiver, traditional CMOS camera has limited dynamic range and high latency, which is susceptible to various lighting and environmental factors. Moreover, high computational cost from image processing is unavoidable for most of visible light positioning systems. In our work, a novel VLP system using an event-based neuromorphic vision sensor (event camera) as the light receiver is proposed. Due to the low latency and microsecond-level temporal resolution of the event camera, our VLP system is able to identify multiple high-frequency flickering LEDs in asynchronous events simultaneously leaving out the need for data association and traditional image processing methods. A multi-LED fusion method is applied and a high positioning accuracy of 3cm is achieved when the height between LEDs and the event camera is within 1m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
