An efficient algorithm for wave scattering from two-dimensional lossy rough surfaces is proposed. It entails the use of a single magnetic field integral equation (SMFIE) in conjunction with a multilevel sparse-matrix canonical-grid (MSMCG) method. The Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) triangular discretization is adopted to better model the rough surface than the pulse basis functions used in the well-established SMCG method. Using the SMFIE formulation, only one unknown per interior edge of the triangular mesh approximating the rough surface is required, and the iterative solution to the moment equation converges more rapidly than that of the conventional coupled equations for dielectric rough surfaces. The MSMCG method extends the applicability of the SMCG method to rougher surfaces. Parallel implementation of the proposed method enables us to model dielectric surfaces up to a few thousand square wavelengths. A novel double-sided parallel-strip line (DSPSL) push-pull oscillator using two identical sub-oscillators on the opposite sides of a dielectric substrate is proposed. The two sub-oscillators, sharing a common DSPSL resonator and common ground in the middle of the substrate, generate out-of-phase fundamental signals and in-phase second harmonics. At the common DSPSL output, the second harmonics are cancelled out while the fundamental signals are well combined. By this design, an additional combiner at the output, as required by the conventional push-pull circuits, is not needed, which greatly reduces the circuit size and simplifies the design procedures of the proposed push-pull oscillator. A Wilkinson power divider with a differential output implemented in parallel-strip-line (PSL) is proposed. Taking full advantages of the PSL technology and a three-stage cascaded design, more than 170% impedance and isolation bandwidths are obtained. Inherent to the PSL structure, the 180deg differential output is frequency-independent. A class-B push-pull power amplifier employing the devised concept is designed, showing a peak efficiency of 44% over a 4-GHz bandwidth. A hybrid evaluation method using both the spectral- and the spatial-domain techniques is proposed for the evaluation of the Sommerreid-type integrals resulting from the full-wave analysis of microstrip structures. This method combines the advantages of the spectral-domain for the evaluation of near fields and the spatial-domain method for the evaluation of far-fields. This method is simple and needs no additional formulations. It also provides an easy alternative method to handle the inefficiency of calculation with the singularity of the Green's function.
