Abstract

The article discusses the services vision of what the author deems computer science 2.0. Any service should be able to invoke any other service on the Web, regardless of location, language, or hardware. Reusability of services will be crucial to this task, as will the use of semantic technologies. Vendors such as Oracle, BEA, and SAP have indicated initial support for semantic technologies, which hold the promise of coping with the explosive growth of information being published on the Internet.
