A high voltage gain inverter is a prime requirement for high voltage power application. Z-source inverter has attracted the attention widely. A lot of efforts has been made to improve the voltage gain with better design. However, still, there is a gap to achieve higher voltage gain with the optimum number of components. In this brief, a quasi Z-source inverter is proposed to achieve higher voltage gain. The proposed inverter utilizes the active switched network along with switched inductor cell. The proposed inverter offers continuous input current and higher voltage gain. The operation and steady-state analysis are presented to derive the voltage gain. A comparative analysis is presented to describe the features of the proposed inverter. Finally, an experimental analysis is conducted to validate the feasibility of the proposed inverter. High step-up voltage gain dc–dc converters are widely applied in fuel cell stacks, photovoltaic arrays, battery sources, and high intensity discharge lamps power systems. Active-network converters with coupled inductors (CL-ANC) are derived from switched inductor active-network converters (SL-ANC). The proposed converter contains two coupled inductors which can be integrated into one magnetic core and two power switches. The converter can provide a relatively high voltage conversion ratio with a small duty cycle; the voltage and current stress of power switches are low which is helpful to reduce the losses. This paper shows the key waveforms of the CL-ANC and detailed derivation of the steady-state operation principle. The voltage conversion ratio and the effect of the leakage inductance on voltage gain are discussed. The voltage stress and current stress on the power devices are illustrated and the comparison between the proposed converter and SL-ANC are given. Finally, the prototype has been established in the lab with 200 V and 400 V output under different turn ratios. Experimental results are given to verify the correctness of the analysis. High step-up voltage gain dc/dc converters are widely used in renewable energy power generation, uninterruptible power system, etc. In order to avoid the influence of leakage inductor in coupled inductors based converters, switched-inductor boost converter (SL-boost), switched-capacitor boost converter (SC-boost) and active-network converter (ANC) have been developed. With the transition in series and parallel connection of the inductors and capacitors, high step-up voltage conversion ratio can be achieved. This paper discusses the characteristics of the switched inductor and switched-capacitor cell; makes some comparisons between the ANC and boost converter. Based on the aforementioned analysis, this paper proposed the multicell switched-inductor/ switched-capacitor combined active network converters (MSL/SC-ANC). The proposed converters combine the advantages of SL/SC unit and active-network structure. Compared with previous high step-up converters, the novel converter provides a higher voltage conversion ratio with a lower voltage/current stress on the power devices, moreover, the structure of proposed SL/SC-ANC is very flexible, which means the quantity of SL and SC cells can be adjusted according to required voltage gain. A 20 times gain prototype is designed as an example to show the design procedure. Theoretical analysis and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feature of the proposed converter. The power industry is in the early stages of a fundamental change, driving the integration of energy, communications, and information technologies into one intelligent utility network, known as the smart grid. This paper investigates data traffic management in smart grid networks, in which huge volumes of data produced by advanced meters cannot be fully delivered to utility data centers due to limited bandwidth. To develop a solution for optimizing traffic flow, we exploit a particular characteristic of this network—power-related applications can benefit from different levels of data quality along the path to the final destination. We thus handle congestion by performing intelligent quality-aware volume reduction of the flows within the network. Our optimization problem is that of computing for each flow the amount of volume reductions in different locations, so as to maximize overall revenue. We address both an off-line scenario, in which all flows are known beforehand, and an online framework, in which new flows can be generated during system operation. For the off-line case, we propose an efficient, near-optimal solution, while for the online case, we derive almost tight polylogarithmic upper and lower bounds on the competitive ratio. We also consider a more restricted dynamic setting, for which we demonstrate how to compute an optimal solution. In this paper, an active network simulating mutually coupled inductors employing four second-generation current controlled conveyors, five resistors, and only two grounded capacitors is presented. The primary, secondary, and mutual simulated inductances of the circuit are independent and can be electronically tuned. The proposed circuit represents a synthetic transformer and has a positive mutual inductance. As an application, the proposed transformer is used to construct a stagger-tuned filter.
