The article offers information on the nature and essence of (online) content producing, with particular focus given to the legal contours of this rapidly-growing profession, as well as impact on library and archive professions. Information is also given on the 2006 French copyright act DADVSI, and topics include intellectual property rights on the internet, and the relationship between internet and privacy.

The article reveals that in 2011, the French government introduced a legal reform which aim was to modify and simplify legislation concerning private copying (of intellectual material) in France, with particular focus given to the issue of intellectual property rights in the country, within the premises of libraries and similar knowledge institutions. Also included is information on a symposium dedicated to this very topic titled "copy party," to be held on March 7, 2012 at the Bibliothèque universitaire de La Roche-sur-Yon.
