Abstract—Managing a project is a complex task. Traditional project management tools and models such as Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique (GERT), and Venture Evaluation and Review Technique (VERT) have not adequately incorporated a number of factors which can influence the resource assignment of projects. Consequently, it is essential to use powerful tools such as Petri nets in order to provide models which are closer to real-time ones. In this paper we use Resource Assignment Petri Net to model a ship repair project. This approach enables project managers to represent and evaluate different resource assignment strategies and interactions among activities and resources. Index Terms—Coloured petri nets, project control, RAPN.
