During the construction of concrete ship locks, prolonged interruptions between the casting of the floor and lock wall are inevitable. In terms of mass concrete, long placement delays are one of the major reasons for the presence of cracks in newly placed concrete. Therefore, this study examines both the placement and structural characteristics of ship locks after long casting interruptions based on the mass concrete thermal stress theory to determine the major causal factors for cracks in newly poured concrete. Specifically, a block placement method is proposed to reduce thermal stress in newly placed concrete, and the temperature control and crack prevention capacities of the proposed method are verified using the finite element method. The development of the structure's thermal stress under different temperature control measures is analyzed, finding that thermal stress in the lock walls can be effectively reduced by 50% through low-temperature block casting. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly reduce the internal thermal stress of newly placed concrete after prolonged casting interruptions, thereby highlighting its applicability for achieving effective temperature control and crack prevention in concrete ship locks. With the application of electrical equipment, magnetically coupled resonant (MCR) wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has become an effective means to improve equipment intelligence. The MCR‐WPT system is a loosely coupled system, and the resonant frequency may be split or detuned due to the changes of load or transferring distance, resulting in the system transfer efficiency (TE) greatly reduced. To solve the problems of limited speed and accuracy in the existing frequency tracking methods, this paper analyzes the relation between the detuning rate and the system TE, proposing an adaptive frequency tracking control method based on fuzzy radial basis function neural network control. The neural network outputs proportion–integration–differentiation parameters to adjust the inverter drive circuit, and the frequency of inverter drive circuit is adjusted nonlinearly in real time to ensure the accurate frequency tracking of the MCR‐WPT system. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method can enhance the tracking ability of the resonant frequency, and effectively improve the system TE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Exosomes, a group of vesicles originating from the multivesicular bodies (MVBs), are released into the extracellular space when MVBs fuse with the plasma membrane. Numerous studies indicate that exosomes play important roles in cell-to-cell communication, and exosomes from specific cell types and conditions display multiple functions such as exerting positive effects on regeneration in many tissues. It is widely accepted that the therapeutic potential of stem cells may be mediated largely by the paracrine factors, so harnessing the paracrine effects of stem and progenitor cells without affecting these living, replicating, and potentially pluripotent cell populations is an advantage in terms of safety and complexity. Ascending evidence indicated that exosomes might be the main components of paracrine factors; thus, understanding the role of exosomes in each subtype of stem cells is far-reaching. In this review, we discuss the functions of exosomes from different types of stem cells and emphasize the therapeutic potentials of exosomes, providing an alternative way of developing strategies to cure diseases. Background. Some studies have shown the possible involvement of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in chronic urticaria, but the relationship remains controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to quantitatively assess the association between H. pylori infection and chronic urticaria. Methods. Observational studies comparing the prevalence of H. pylori infection in patients with chronic urticaria and control subjects were identified through a systematic search in MEDLINE and EMBASE up to July 2014. H. pylori infection was confirmed by serological or nonserological tests. For subgroup analyses, studies were separated by region, publication year, and H. pylori detection method to screen the potential factors resulting in heterogeneity. Results. 16 studies involving 965 CU cases and 1235 controls were included. Overall, the prevalence of H. pylori infection was higher in urticarial patients than in controls (OR = 1.66; 95% CI: 1.12–2.45; P=0.01). This result persisted in subanalysis of nine high-quality studies (OR = 1.36; 95% CI: 1.03–1.80; P=0.03). Subgroup analysis showed that detection method of H. pylori is also a potential influential factor for the overall results. Conclusions. Our present meta-analysis suggests that H. pylori infection is significantly, though weakly, associated with an increased risk of chronic urticaria. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. Several studies have shown a possible involvement of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in individuals with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), but the relationship remains controversial. This meta-analysis was performed to validate and strengthen the association between HG and H. pylori infection. Methods. PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases up to March 20, 2014, were searched to select studies on the prevalence of H. pylori infection between pregnant women with HG and the normal pregnant control subjects. Results. Of the HG cases, 1289 (69.6%) were H. pylori-positive; however, 1045 (46.2%) were H. pylori-positive in control group. Compared to the non-HG normal pregnant controls, infection rate of H. pylori was significantly higher in pregnant women with HG (OR = 3.34, 95% CI: 2.32–4.81, P<0.001). Subgroup analysis indicated that H. pylori infection was a risk factor of HG in Asia, Africa, and Oceania, especially in Africa (OR = 12.38, 95% CI: 7.12–21.54, P<0.001). Conclusions. H. pylori should be considered one of the risk factors of HG, especially in the developing countries.
