Abstract

A multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) problem is studied in this paper, for which the evaluation results obey a particular distribution. First, when solving a multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) problem, a grey target decision analysis framework is proposed to determine uncertain parameters and criteria weights. A measurement for comprehensive off-target distance is defined, which includes the undetermined parameters. Second, to satisfy the requirements of a specific distribution (such as a normal distribution) in the assessment results, an optimization model that incorporates the off-target distance constraints is proposed by considering the skewness and kurtosis test method. Third, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is extended to solve the proposed model by seeking the appropriate parameters and weights. Fourth, a numerical example is applied to demonstrate the feasibility and application of the proposed method. In the end, the proposed model is extended to other distribution requirements.

24. Effects of microwave on microscopic, hydration, and gelatinization properties of oat and its application on noodle processing.

Abstract

Oats are becoming increasingly popular due to their nutritional, but they were difficult to process, and unique characteristics. Therefore, this study established a model of microwave pregelatinization conditions between gelatinization degree (DG) of oat and investigated the characteristics of oat flour with different DG. Here, the results showed that the hydration (WSI and WAI increased to 5.43 g/100 g and 4.33 g/g, respectively) and thermodynamic properties of oat flour were improved, and the SEM and XRD results showed that the high‐frequency electromagnetic field and thermal effect of the microwave destroyed the crystal structure of the starch and formed an aggregate with lower gelatinization temperature and enthalpy. Compared with the natural oat flour that cannot be extruded into strips, the oat flour with a DG of 88.5 g/100 g was prepared into strips of noodles with improved qualities. The mentioned results proved the potential of microwaves in the development of oat products. Practical applications: Oats which are rich in nutritional and β‐glucan ranked fifth in total output among the eight major food crops in the world. However, oats are of limited suitability for processing due to the characteristics of oat starch. Therefore, this study established a model of microwave pregelatinization conditions and gelatinization degree and described the characteristics of microwave‐pregelatinized oat flour with different gelatinization degrees, so that the oat flour with different gelatinization characteristics can be processed into different products. For example, the oat flour with a gelatinization degree of 88.5% mentioned in the study was applied to extruded whole oat noodles, and the noodles with good qualities were obtained. 46. Comparison of Real‐Time PM2.5 Between Rural and Urban Homes in Southwest China Based on Field Measurement: Insight Into the Cooking Activity Contribution.

Abstract

People generally spend most of their time indoors; thus, household air pollution (HAP), especially indoor air pollution, is of paramount importance. In this study, real‐time particulate matter (PM2.5) monitors were used to collect high temporal resolution concentrations of fine PM2.5 in different microenvironments from 104 urban and rural households in Guizhou Province to investigate the urban–rural difference in HAP and the contribution of cooking activity to HAP. Results showed that PM2.5 concentrations among different rural microenvironments varied largely, ranging from 26.10 ± 33.27 (mean ± standard deviation) in the bedroom to 69.20 ± 72.50 μg/m3 in the kitchen while varying slightly across various urban microenvironments, ranging from 32.30 ± 17.5 in the living room to 34.65 ± 16.37 μg/m3 in the kitchen. Cooking activity can rapidly increase PM2.5 concentrations in the kitchen, whose peaks were at least five times higher than baseline levels. The contribution of cooking to the kitchen PM2.5 was 18.43 ± 12.17% and 5.39 ± 4.15% in rural and urban homes, respectively. Biomass burning affected indoor PM2.5 concentrations significantly, where rural households using biomass had the highest PM2.5 levels than households burning other fuels. This study identified the urban–rural disparities in household PM2.5 pollution and the contributions of cooking activities to HAP, illustrating the importance of cooking activities to indoor air pollution, which can assist in controlling indoor air pollution. Abstract

Background. Potassium and sodium are inextricably linked to the maintenance of cell potential and electrolyte homeostasis. Few studies have examined their joint relationship with outcomes after stroke. The objective of this study is to ascertain whether combined low nadir serum sodium and potassium levels are correlated with an unfavorable outcome in ischemic stroke. Methods. Retrospective cohort study of 2,920 consecutive patients with first-ever ischemic stroke. Serum sodium and potassium levels were measured at 10 consecutive time points over 10 days poststroke. The Youden Index was performed to identify patients with low nadir sodium (<140 mmol/L) and potassium (<3.65 mmol/L) levels, defined as a NaK score of 2. Multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard analysis were used to evaluate the independent relationship of sodium and potassium levels with clinical outcomes at three months. Results. A total of 2,920 patients with ischemic stroke were analyzed (mean age 62.14 ± 14.13 years; 60.19% male), of whom 740 (25.3%) with both low nadir sodium and potassium levels had a quintuple 3-month case fatality compared to other patients (10.6% vs. 2.1%). Multivariable analyses identified NaK = 2 as an independent predictor of 3-month death (adjusted odds ratio (OR) 2.23; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.17-4.53; p = 0.019) and an unfavorable shift in the distribution of scores on the modified Rankin scale (adjusted OR 1.51, 95% CI 1.12-2.04; p = 0.007). 48. Interleukin-18 Gene Polymorphisms and Rheumatoid Arthritis Susceptibility: An Umbrella Review of Meta-Analyses.

Abstract

This study systematically analyzes the association between interleukin-18 (IL-18) gene polymorphisms and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility. The electronic databases Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid Excerpta Medica Database, and Cochrane Library were searched to identify meta-analyses that included case–control studies reporting IL-18 gene polymorphisms and RA susceptibility. Data were reanalyzed using Review Manager Software 5.1, and Mantel–Haenszel random effects were applied for the five genetic models: allelic, recessive, dominant, homozygote, and heterozygote. The effect size of odds ratios (ORs) and their corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated. A total of seven meta-analyses with poor quality were included. The IL-18 polymorphisms -607 A/C, -137 C/G, -920 T/C, and -105 C/A have been reported. With weak evidence, IL-18 -607 A/C polymorphisms were associated with a reduced risk of RA susceptibility using the allele model (OR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.61 − 0.93, p = 0.01), dominant model (OR = 0.67, 95% CI: 0.50 − 0.90, p = 0.008), homozygote model (OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.35 − 0.91, p = 0.02), and heterozygote model (OR = 0.71, 95% CI: 0.54 − 0.93, p = 0.01) in the overall population. IL-18 gene polymorphisms and RA susceptibility are affected by ethnicity: With weak evidence, IL-18 -137 C/G polymorphisms were related to reduce RA susceptibility in the Asian population (allele model: OR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.40 − 0.88, p = 0.01 ; dominant model: OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.37 − 0.89, p = 0.01 ; heterozygote model: OR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38 − 0.94, p = 0.03). IL-18 -607 A/C gene polymorphisms are a protective factor for RA susceptibility in the overall population, and IL-18 −137 C/G gene polymorphisms are a protective factor for RA susceptibility in the Asian population. Abstract

Ursolic acid (UA) is a natural triterpene carboxylic acid with an underlying anti-hyperlipidemia effect. This study examined the mechanism of interactions of UA with cholesterol esterase (CEase), pancreatic lipase (PL), and micellar cholesterol solubility in vitro. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of CEase, PL, and micellar cholesterol solubility was determined to be 0.07 ± 0.01 mg/mL, 1.81 ± 0.13 mg/mL, and 1.73 ± 0.08 mg/mL, respectively. Multispectral combination revealed that UA changed the secondary structure and quenched the intrinsic fluorescence by static quenching of the two enzymes. The interactions were exothermic reaction as determined by enthalpy. Furthermore, molecular docking confirmed that UA was bound to amino acids of two enzymes at active site through hydrophobic interaction and van der Waals forces. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation found that CEase and PL rearranged with UA to form stable complexes. The strong inhibition effect of CEase and PL mediated by UA might provide additional insight into understanding the role of UA in the hypolipidemic effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
