Accurate delineation of debris-flow-endangered areas (e.g., the maximum runout distance) is a necessary prerequisite for the debris-flow risk assessment and countermeasures design. Recently, machine-learning models have been proved to be an effective tool in predicting debris-flow parameters. However, existing machine-learning models are generally developed based on a very limited number of observation data, which may result in the predictive model overfitting or underfitting. How to develop a robust model for accurate forecasting of debris-flow-endangered areas still remains a difficult task. This paper proposes a hybrid method for predicting debris-flow hazard zone by integrating machine-learning algorithms and an empirical regression model. The proposed method takes the calculated maximum runout distance obtained from the empirical model as supplementary inputs to increase the amount of training data to construct hybrid machine-learning models. Three commonly used machine-learning models (i.e., multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), random forest (RF), and support vector machine (SVM)) are developed based on the training datasets of a specific debris basin. Then, these three machine-learning models are combined with an empirical relationship developed using the same training datasets to generate corresponding hybrid models. Finally, the performance metrics (i.e., coefficient of determination (R2), root-mean-square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE)) of the proposed hybrid models are comprehensively investigated and compared with the single predictive model (i.e., MARS, RF, SVM, and the empirical model) under fivefold cross-validation. The proposed method is illustrated using 134 channelized debris-flow events in Sichuan province, China. Results show that compared with the three individual machine-learning models, hybridization of machine-learning algorithms and the empirical model results in R2, RMSE, and MAE improved by 70.5%, 32.9%, and 41.1%, respectively. In contrast to the empirical model, the R2, RMSE, and MAE value of the proposed hybrid models are improved by 29.6%, 22.3%, and 32.5%, respectively. The proposed hybrid models generally perform better than the single machine-learning and the empirical model, providing a promising tool for accurate forecasting of a debris-flow-endangered area. Chinese bees can survive in various ecological and geographical environments in China and have strong heat as well as cold resistance. They can survive in the hot environment in the south and withstand the dynamics of severe cold in the north. At the same time, they can make full use of a small number of honey sources and have strong resistance to a variety of diseases and pests. In fact, there will be a variety of insect invasion problems in the beehive culture of Chinese bees, and it is necessary to accurately detect various diseases and pests during the breeding of Chinese bees. However, there are a large amount of insect invasion and various disease sources in the breeding stage of the Chinese bees. Therefore, in this paper, we use a deep learning algorithm to detect the insect invasion of the Chinese beehive culture and analyze the bee colonies in six bee farms in the province of Sichuan. In addition, we measure the common insect and disease indexes of the Chinese bee and analyze the parasitism rate, microsporidia infection rate, virus infection rate, and virus infection titer of bee colonies in overwintering and spring breeding. The experimental results show that the anti-insect invasion situation of bees in the six bee farms is significantly different; however, the antimite ability is basically the same. With the rapid development of the economy, carbon neutral and carbon peak are on the agenda in China, and the reform of intelligent construction and assembly building is in full swing in the Chinese construction industry. In order to further explore and study the relationship between the textural structural issues of the envelope structure and the overall energy consumption situation of the house, and further bridge the gap between the actual energy-saving design scheme and the actual application scheme, therefore, this paper takes a certain place as a research object to study the phenomenon of design assembly energy saving, based on dozens of assembly building enterprises researched, selected samples of envelope components studied, selected BIM technology for premodeling optimization, used neural network algorithm for analysis of influencing factors, and studied the application in the study of energy-saving optimization of assembly building envelope in the western Sichuan plain area, and used OpenStudio was used to build a model to simulate the heating and air conditioning load of the assembled building numerically and to fit the quantitative relationship between the variable factors and the building energy consumption. With the rapidly increasing number of patent applications in China, each applicant tends to accumulate the quantity of patent, but not the improvement of patent quality. Therefore, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) has recently issued a package of notification, which aims to reverse the status quo. However, existing methods of regional patent evaluation still emphasize on quantity rather than quality indices, which leads to biased evaluation results. In this paper, we establish a comprehensive index system for regional patent evaluation. The indicators of the system consist of four dimensions, including quantity, quality, structure, and coordination. This aims to provide a path of high-quality development for regional patent work. Based on the patent data of each city in Sichuan Province in 2020, this paper validated the effectiveness of the comprehensive evaluation system and put forward countermeasures and suggestions. Operating room nurses play a critical role in patient safety. The evaluation of safety attitudes of operating room nurses reflects their awareness and belief of patient safety. Currently, however, the research on the safety attitudes of operating room nurses is hard to track in the existing literature in China. Therefore, this paper was conducted to explore the factors influencing the safety attitudes of operating room nurses and their cognition and attitudes toward adverse event reporting. A total of 711 operating room nurses from 16 tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province from March 1, 2018, to 2019 were selected. The general information of operating room nurses, such as age, gender, and years of service in the operating room, was obtained through the basic information questionnaire. The Chinese version of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (C-SAQ) was used to evaluate the safety attitude of operating room nurses, and the cognition and attitude of the subjects to adverse event reports were assessed through the questionnaire of cognition and attitude toward adverse event reporting. The average score of safety attitudes of operating room nurses was 4.20 ± 0.49. The two dimensions with a lower positive reaction rate of the safety attitudes of operating room nurses were stress recognition and working conditions. The main factors affecting the safety attitude of operating room nurses were night shifts, as well as cognition and attitudes toward adverse event reporting. There was a positive correlation between the total score of C-SAQ and the total score of cognition and attitudes toward adverse event reporting (P < 0.01 , r = 0.445). The safety attitude of operating room nurses is at the upper-middle level, but the stress recognition and working conditions need to be improved. Through the allocation of nursing human resources, the strengthening of hospital logistics support, and the establishment of nonpunitive nursing adverse event reporting system, the operating room safety can be significantly enhanced. The total organic carbon content (TOC) is a core indicator for shale gas reservoir evaluations. Machine learning-based models can quickly and accurately predict TOC, which is of great significance for the production of shale gas. Based on conventional logs, the measured TOC values, and other data of 9 typical wells in the Jiaoshiba area of the Sichuan Basin, this paper performed a Bayesian linear regression and applied a random forest machine learning model to predict TOC values of the shale from the Wufeng Formation and the lower part of the Longmaxi Formation. The results showed that the TOC value prediction accuracy was improved by more than 50% by using the well-trained machine learning models compared with the traditional Δ Log R method in an overmature and tight shale. Using the halving random search cross-validation method to optimize hyperparameters can greatly improve the speed of building the model. Furthermore, excluding the factors that affect the log value other than the TOC and taking the corrected data as input data for training could improve the prediction accuracy of the random forest model by approximately 5%. Sichuan smoked bacon with potassium chloride instead of 40% sodium chloride was coated with chitosan and nisin, and treated at 600 MPa for 10 min after vacuum packaging. The physicochemical parameters, lipid and protein oxidation, and microbial biomass of samples were determined within 180 days of refrigeration. The substitution of 40% KCl for NaCl had some negative effects on a*, texture, microbial biomass, and sensory quality of bacon. High pressure significantly increased lipid oxidation of samples in the early stage of refrigeration, reduced a* during the whole storage, and had negative effects on texture and sensory quality of products in the later stage. Coating combined with high pressure could inhibit lipid and protein oxidation, and microbial growth, reduce nitrite residue, and maintain the color, texture, and sensory characteristics of bacon during refrigeration. These suggested that it was feasible to produce low‐sodium sliced bacon by high pressure combined with coating treatment. Novelty impact statement: Bacon is one of the traditional dry‐cured meat products in China, but there is few sliced and packaged bacon. The novelty of this paper lies in the application of high‐pressure (HP) with coating technology to sodium‐reduced sliced smoke‐cured bacon. Casing deformation is a key issue that restricts the efficient development of shale gas in the Sichuan Basin, southwest China. In this study, we take the Ning209 block as an example to analyze the characteristics of casing deformation distribution and the mitigation effect of using reduced treating parameters on casing deformation. The geological structure and in-situ stress characteristics of this block indicate that the high horizontal stress difference and high pore pressure may be the main cause of casing deformation. Hence, based on the fault likelihood and 3D in-situ stress model, a geomechanical probability model of fault slip is established to identify the areas with high risk of faults to explain the distribution of casing deformation and investigate the impact of reducing pumping rate on fault slip. The results show that the faults in the upper region of the block have a higher slip probability than the faults in the lower region, consistent with field casing deformation observation. The high stress difference and high pore pressure are the main factors causing a high slip probability of faults. After reducing pumping rate, slip probability is found to change from medium risk to low risk for faults in the lower region, which led to a significant reduction of casing deformation in the lower region. Reducing pumping rate can play a significant role in mitigating casing deformation caused by medium-risk faults, which has been proved by the field practices. This paper proposes a comprehensive method for preventing casing deformation by combining the fault slip risk assessment with the treating parameters optimization, which bridges the gap between prediction and control for mitigating casing deformation in the field. Effectively predicting the spatial distribution of oil and gas contributes to delineating promising target areas for further exploration. Determining the location of hydrocarbon is a complex and uncertain decision problem. This paper proposes a method for predicting the spatial distribution of oil and gas resource based on Bayesian network. In this method, qualitative dependency relationship between the hydrocarbon occurrence and key geologic factors is obtained using Bayesian network structure learning by integrating the available geoscience information and the current exploration results and then using Bayesian network topology structure to predict the probability of hydrocarbon occurrence in the undiscovered area; finally, the probability map of hydrocarbon-bearing is formed by interpolation method. The proposed method and workflow are further illustrated using an example from the Carboniferous Huanglong Formation (C2hl) in the eastern part of the Sichuan Basin in China. The prediction results show that the coincidence rate between the results of 248 known exploration wells and the predicted results reaches 89.5%, and it has been found that the gas fields are basically located in the high value area of the hydrocarbon-bearing probability map. The application results show that the Bayesian network method can effectively predict the spatial distribution of oil and gas resources, thereby reducing exploration risks, optimizing exploration targets, and improving exploration benefits. With the rapid development of China's economy, the construction of infrastructure has continuously improved. In the past few years, the construction of water conservancy projects has been constantly developing, and related geological disasters have become increasingly prominent. The stability of water conservancy slopes is related to whether water conservancy projects can be safely constructed and built to function safely and effectively, which has become a topic of increasing concern for geologists and related researchers. This paper selects the Jinping 1 Hydropower Station in Sichuan, China, for analysis. Four categories of evaluation factors (geological, engineering, environmental, and monitoring) and 24 subfactors (17 quantitative indicators and 7 qualitative indicators) are selected to ascertain the risk of the slope more accurately. By investigating the deficiencies of the traditional cloud model, the related concepts and computational models of a finite-area cloud model are proposed. By obtaining the characteristic parameters, the degrees of membership of the measurement samples belonging to different risk levels are further obtained. The weights of the indicators determined by the cloud processor and the weighted distance discriminant method are used to determine the final weights and achieve a final classification of the slope stability level. The research results demonstrate that the weighted distance discriminant algorithm combined with the improved finite-interval cloud model can consider the comprehensive information of each evaluation index and the degrees of mutual influence between the indicators, making the evaluation results more objective. Moreover, the proposed approach can quickly and accurately classify slope stability and deliver a prediction of the safety, thereby providing new ideas for evaluating the stability of slopes. The upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale has always been the main target of marine shale gas exploration in southern China. However, the shale gas content varies greatly across different regions. The organic matter content is one of the most important factors in determining gas content; therefore, determining the enrichment mechanisms of organic matter is an important problem that needs to be solved urgently. In this paper, upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale samples from the X-1 and Y-1 wells that are located in the southern Sichuan area of the upper Yangtze region and the northwestern Jiangxi area of the lower Yangtze region, respectively, are selected for analysis. Based on the core sample description, well logging data analysis, mineral and elemental composition analysis, silicon isotope analysis, and TOC (total organic carbon) content analysis, the upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale is studied to quantitatively calculate its content of excess silicon. Subsequently, the results of elemental analysis and silicon isotope analysis are used to determine the origin of excess silicon. Finally, we used U/Th to determine the characteristics of the redox environment and the relationship between excess barium and TOC content to judge paleoproductivity and further studied the mechanism underlying sedimentary organic matter enrichment in the study area. The results show that the excess silicon from the upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale in the upper Yangtze area is derived from biogenesis. The sedimentary water body is divided into an oxygen-rich upper water layer that has higher paleoproductivity and a strongly reducing lower water that is conducive to the preservation of sedimentary organic matter. Thus, for the upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale in the upper Yangtze region, exploration should be conducted in the center of the blocks with high TOC contents and strongly reducing water body. However, the excess silicon in the upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale of the lower Yangtze area originates from hydrothermal activity that can enhance the reducibility of the bottom water and carry nutrients from the crust to improve paleoproductivity and enrich sedimentary organic matter. Therefore, for the upper Ordovician-lower Silurian shale in the lower Yangtze region, exploration should be conducted in the blocks near the junction of the two plates where hydrothermal activity was active. Tibetan Plateau (TP) mesoscale vortex (TPMV) was regarded as one of the most important rain bearing systems in China. Previous studies focused on the mechanisms of the TPMV in the viewpoint of deterministic forecast; however, few studies investigate the predictability of the TPMV using the Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment (THORPEX) Interactive Grand Global Ensemble (TIGGE) from the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECWMF). This paper investigates the location and the intensity of the larger-scale synoptic systems that influenced the development of the TPMV and its associated heavy rainfall by correlation and composite analysis. The case study on 18 July 2013 shows that stronger Balkhash Lake ridge, weaker Baikal Lake trough, and weaker western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH) are favorable to formation of TPMV over the Sichuan basin (SCB); otherwise, weaker Balkhash Lake ridge, stronger Baikal Lake trough, and stronger WPSH result in formation of TPMV to west of the SCB slightly. After the initial time, forecast for next 48 h of the geopotential height over the SCB can be viewed as a precursor of the subsequent time-averaged 90–108 h forecast of TPMV. To obtain the influence of anisotropy and energy evolution characteristics on wellbore stability, the acoustic and mechanical anisotropy characteristics of shales are studied through various experiments, including scanning electron microscopy, ultrasonic pulse transmission, and uniaxial compression experiments, with the Longmaxi Formation shale in the southern area of the Sichuan Basin as the research object. The energy evolution characteristics of the Longmaxi Formation shale under different bedding angles are analyzed. The influence of anisotropy on the wellbore stability of shale formation is discussed on this basis. The results show that the acoustic and mechanical parameters, failure mode, and energy evolution characteristics of shale have significant anisotropy. Furthermore, the P-wave and S-wave time differences decrease with an increase in bedding angle. The compressive strength and Poisson's ratio decrease first and then increase with an increase in bedding angle. Meanwhile, the elastic modulus gradually increases with an increase in bedding angle. Rock samples with different bedding angles show diverse failure modes in mechanical tests, including splitting, shear, and shear-splitting failure. The total energy and elastic energy decrease first and then increase with an increase in bedding angle. Finally, the formation anisotropy affects the wellbore stability: the higher the formation anisotropy, the more vulnerable is the wellbore to instability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sichuan is a high-incidence area of thunderstorm activity in China. Based on the data of the total lightning location system from 2018 to 2022, the total lightning, cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning, and intracloud (IC) lightning activity regularity for the Sichuan province (SC) and its three climate subregions: Sichuan Basin (SB), Panxi district (PD), and West Sichuan Plateau (WSP) are analyzed, and the influences of different climate and topography conditions on lightning activities are also discussed. The results show that (1) for the whole province, the annual mean value of total lightning is about 850 thousand. The SB has the most lightning occurrences, and the WSP has the largest IC and +CG proportion. The southwest of PD, the north-center of PD, and the southeast of SB are the three high-value centers of lightning density. (2) For SB, the better thermodynamic and moisture conditions account for the most lightning occurrences. For PD, the lightning distribution is attributed to the joint effect of specific meteorological conditions and mountainous topography. For WSP, the convections are weak and shallow, which lead to high IC and +CG proportion. (3) The IC lightning mainly occurs below 12 km, and the IC height is much lower on WSP. The spatial and seasonal variation of IC height corresponds well to the cloud base height (CBH) and cloud top height (CTH). (4) The seasonal lightning frequency distribution in the three regions is similar, but the diurnal variation is quite different. The lightning activity mainly occurs between 1400 and 2200 LT on WSP but shows obvious nocturnal in SB. An appropriate well spacing plan is critical for the economic development of shale gas reservoirs. The biggest challenge for well spacing optimization is interpreting the subsurface uncertainties associated with hydraulic and natural fractures. Another challenge is the existence of complex natural fractures. This work applied an integrated well spacing optimization workflow in shale gas reservoirs of the Sichuan Basin in China with both hydraulic and natural fractures. The workflow consists of five components: data preparation, reservoir simulation, estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) analysis, economic calculation, and well spacing optimization. Firstly, the multiple realizations of thirteen uncertain parameters of matrix and fractures, including matrix permeability and porosity, three relative permeability parameters, hydraulic fracture height, half-length, width, conductivity, water saturation, and natural fracture number, length, and conductivity, were captured by the assisted history matching (AHM). The fractures were modeled by the embedded discrete fracture model (EDFM) accurately and efficiently. Then, 84 AHM solutions combining with five well spacing scenarios from 517 ft to 1550 ft would generate 420 simulation cases. After reservoir simulation of these 420 cases, we forecasted the long-term gas production for each well spacing scenario. Gas EUR degradation and well interference would imply the critical well spacing. The net present value (NPV) for all scenarios would be calculated and trained by K -nearest neighbors (KNN) proxy to better understand the relationship between well spacing and NPV. In this study, the optimum well spacing was determined as 793 ft, corresponding with a maximum NPV of 18 million USD, with the contribution of hydraulic fractures and natural fractures. This study investigated drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) in the Yi ethnic group. The study was designed to identify risk factors for DR-TB and its relationship with HIV/AIDS. To establish the resistance to antituberculosis drugs, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was performed using culture-positive Mycobacterium tuberculosis samples collected from people of the Yi ethnic group from March 2019 to March 2021. Baseline characteristics were obtained from China's tuberculosis surveillance system. A total of 116 M. tuberculosis strains were included in the final analysis. Lineage 2.2 (75.86%) was the dominant sublineage, followed by lineage 4.5 (18.97%) and lineage 4.4 (5.17%). The rates of rifampicin-resistant (RR-TB), multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB), and preextensively drug-resistant TB (pre-XDR-TB) were 18.97%, 10.34%, and 6.03%, respectively. Drug-resistant strains were not found in the elderly (age ≥ 65 years). The proportions of RR/MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB cases among re-treatment patients were higher than those among new patients ( χ 2 = 12.155 , P = 0.003 ; χ 2 = 22.495 , P = 0.001 , respectively). The pre-XDR-TB case proportions were higher among female patients than among males and higher among referred patients ( χ 2 = 5.456 , P = 0.032 ; χ 2 = 15.134 , P = 0.002 , respectively). The rates of RR/MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB did not differ appreciably among groups with different HIV infection statuses nor lineage populations. DR-TB poses a serious challenge to the Yi ethnic group. Re-treatment patients, women, and referred patients were at high risk of MDR/RR-TB or pre-XDR-TB while HIV and lineage 2 had negligible association with drug resistance. In the oil and gas industry, traditional logging mostly deems that oil and gas reservoirs are characterized by high resistivity, whereas the water layer is often by low resistivity. However, a lot of exploration and development practices on shale gas reservoirs in Sichuan Basin, China, prove that it is hard to characterize a functional relation between resistivity and water saturation using the Archie equation. Therefore, to make clear the mechanism to form low resistivity in shale gas reservoirs, the matrix resistivity was calculated through the percolation network simulation based on pore structure characteristics and mineral compositional parameters. Moreover, the resistivity in low-resistivity laminations of shale was measured through the finite element simulation. In addition, the reasons for such low resistivity in shale were analyzed according to the resistivity-forming mechanism, and the effects of penetration degree, width, quantity, and spatial distribution of the laminations on the resistivity were worked out. Using the entropy method, the coupling coordination model, and the Tobit model, the coupling coordination degree of the high-quality development of science and technology finance and the logistics industry in the Yangtze River Economic Belt in China from 2009 to 2020 is measured, and its influencing factors are found. The study found that the overall coupling coordination degree of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has shown a rapid upward trend; the development gap of the interprovincial coupling coordination degree has a narrowing trend. Except for Sichuan Province, the average coupling coordination degree decreases from the downstream to the upstream; the mechanism analysis shows that the coupling effect of the two. There are scale effect, innovation effect, talent effect, and structure effect; the analysis of influencing factors shows that innovation effect and talent effect have the most obvious promoting effect on the coupled and coordinated development of the two. In addition, the upgrading of the industrial structure, the effective driving of science and technology, the improvement of the logistics foundation, and the further development of finance also have a positive effect on it. Although significant progress has been made in tight gas exploration and development, there is still a limited understanding of the gas accumulation mechanism in tight formation. The description of heterogeneity in the tight reservoir is still an obstacle during tight gas exploration. In this work, we will develop a 3D gas accumulation facility that can reflect the high temperature and pressure under the geological condition to simulate the gas accumulation process in the tight formation of the Jurassic Formation, Sichuan Basin. Both the physical experiment simulation and numerical simulation methods will be combined to reveal the mechanism of gas accumulation. The results show that (1) the permeability ratio can characterize the heterogeneity of tight reservoirs. Based on this parameter, petroleum geologists can understand the interlayer heterogeneity during fluvial deposition and predict the sweet spots of tight gas; (2) the permeability ratio relationship between hydrocarbon accumulation of the tight sandstone reservoir mainly manifests as long as there is the existence of the differential permeability and there will be differences in natural gas migration dynamics, so that the natural gas accumulates in pores and depends on the extent of source rock; and (3) although the difference between capillary force curves is at the core of the influence of the permeability ratio on the gas-bearing capacity of the "sweet spot" sand body, the permeability ratio is a parameter of practical engineering significance. To give an insight into the path attenuation and source characteristics of the 2019 Sichuan Changning earthquake sequence, 99 strong-motion recordings at 33 stations were studied. The S-wave Fourier amplitude spectra were used to determine the path-attenuation function and key parameters of the seismic source characteristics of this sequence. The results show the following: (1) The geometric spreading effect presents hinged-trilinear characteristics, and the corresponding geometric spreading rates were −0.97, 0.29, and −0.73 with the crossover distances 90 km and 183 km. (2) The quality factor Q is correlated with frequency and expressed as 217 × f0.82 for the range from 0.1 to 10.0 Hz. (3) The seismic moment was inversely proportional to the cube of the corner frequency, and their product was 2.37 × 1016 N. m/s3. (4) The stress drop varied from 1.18 to 12.44 MPa. Both the attenuation effect and source parameters of this sequence are significantly different from those of the Lushan and the Wenchuan aftershock sequences in the Sichuan region of China. The Cambrian Longwangmiao gas reservoirs in the Moxi area of the Sichuan Basin have a complex associated gas accumulation history. Based on core and thin section examination, fluid inclusion analyses and 1-D burial-thermal modelling, the diagenetic evolution and hydrocarbon accumulation processes in the Longwangmiao Formation have been reconstructed. Various diagenetic events were identified, making up a complete pore fill sequence as follows: solid bitumen/dolomite→ nonfluorescent solid bitumen → dolomite → quartz/yellow fluorescent oily bitumen → residual hole. Analyses of oil inclusions and bitumen-bearing inclusions are key to the understanding of the hydrocarbon accumulation processes. The Th values of the aqueous inclusions that are contemporaneous with hydrocarbon inclusions range from 74.3 to 214.3°C. In conjunction with burial-thermal history modelling results, the results indicate that there were two stages of oil charge and three stages of natural gas accumulation in the Longwangmiao carbonate reservoirs. The two stages of oil charge occurred in the Late Silurian and Middle Triassic, respectively. The viscoelastic behavior of minerals in shales is important in predicting the macroscale creep behavior of heterogeneous bulk shale. In this study, in situ indentation measurements of two major constitutive minerals (i.e., quartz and clay) in Longmaxi Formation shale from the Sichuan Basin, South China, were conducted using a nanoindentation technique and high-resolution optical microscope. Firstly, quartz and clay minerals were identified under an optical microscope based on their morphology, surface features, reflection characteristics, particle shapes, and indentation responses. Three viscoelastic models (i.e., three-element Voigt, Burger's, and two-dashpot Kelvin models) were then used to fit the creep data for both minerals. Finally, the effects of peak load on the viscoelastic behavior of quartz and clay minerals were investigated. Our results show that the sizes of the residual imprints on clay minerals were larger than that of quartz for a specific peak load. Moreover, the initial creep rates and depths in clay minerals were higher than those in quartz. However, the creep rates of quartz and clay minerals displayed similar trends, which were independent of peak load. In addition, all three viscoelastic models produced good fits to the experimental data. However, due to the poor fit in the initial holding stage of the three-element Voigt model and instability of the two-dashpot Kelvin model, Burger's model is best in obtaining the regression parameters. The regression results indicate that the viscoelastic parameters obtained by these models are associated with peak load, and that a relatively small peak load is more reliable for the determination of viscoelastic parameters. Furthermore, the regression values for the viscoelastic parameters of clay minerals were lower than those of quartz and the bulk shale, suggesting the former facilitates the viscoelastic deformation of shale. Due to the specificity of the geological background, terrestrial strata are widely distributed in the major hydrocarbon-bearing basins in China. In addition, terrestrial shales are generally featured with high thickness, multiple layers, high TOC content, ideal organic matter types, and moderate thermal evolution, laying a solid material foundation for hydrocarbon generation. However, the quantitative characterization study on their pore structure remains inadequate. In this study, core samples were selected from the Middle Jurassic Lianggaoshan Formation in the southeastern Sichuan Basin of the Upper Yangtze Region for analyses on its TOC content and mineral composition. Besides, experiments including oil washing, the adsorption/desorption of CO2 and nitrogen, and high-pressure mercury pressure experiments were carried out. The pore structure of different petrographic types of terrestrial shales can be accurately and quantitatively characterized with these works. The following conclusions were drawn: for organic-rich mixed shales and organic-rich clay shales, the TOC content is the highest; the pore volume, which is primarily provided by macropores and specific surface area, which is provided by mesopores, was the largest, thus providing more space for shale oil and gas reservation. The pores take on a shape either close to a parallel plate slit or close to or of an ink bottle. For organic-matter-bearing shales, both the pore volume and specific surface area are the second-largest and are provided by the same sized pores with organic-rich mixed shales. Its pores take on a shape approximating either a parallel plate slit or an ink bottle. Organic-matter-bearing mixed shales have the lowest pore volume and specific surface area; its pore volume is primarily provided by macropores, and the specific surface area by mesopores and the shape of the pores are close to an ink bottle. In addition to marine and marine-continental transitional strata, the continental ones are also widely distributed in various oil and gas-bearing basins in China. The continental shale generally provides favorable material bases for hydrocarbon generation, such as wide distribution, large thickness, multiple series of strata, high TOC content, nice organic matter type, and moderate thermal evolution. Part of such shale contains shale oil, but the pore space characteristics for the occurrence of this oil are not thoroughly studied. In order to accurately and quantitatively characterize the pore space where the continental shale oil in different types of lithofacies occurs, we sampled the rock cores from the Middle Jurassic Lianggaoshan Formation in the southeastern Sichuan Basin of the Upper Yangtze Area. The TOC content and mineral composition were analyzed, and we also carried out experiments on CO2 and N2 adsorptions, high-pressure mercury injection, and wash oil. Results show significant differences in pore space characteristics for the occurrence of shale oil in different types of lithofacies. In organic-rich mixed and clayey mudstones with the highest TOC content, the free shale oil, occupying the largest reservoir space, mainly occurs in macropores and mesopores, and the adsorbed shale oil, occupying the largest reservoir space, mainly occurs in mesopores. In the organic-bearing clayey mudstone, which has a higher TOC content, the free shale oil takes a larger reservoir space and mainly occurs in macropores, followed by mesopores, and the absorbed one, occupying a larger reservoir space, mostly occurs in micropores and then the mesopores. The organic-bearing mixed mudstone has a moderate TOC content, in which the free shale oil occupies a smaller reservoir space and primarily occurs in mesopores, followed by macropores, and the absorbed one, which takes a larger reservoir space, all occurs in mesopores. Deep shale gas reservoirs are a significant alternative type of shale gas reservoir in China. The productivity of deep shale gas wells is lower than that of shallow shale, and the imbibition characteristics of deep shale have a significant effect on the retention and backflow of fracturing fluid and the productivity of shale gas wells. In this study, the pore structure characteristics of organic-rich deep shale in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation of Weiyuan-Luzhou play were analyzed by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption experiments, and then the imbibition characteristics and factors influencing deep shale were extensively investigated by spontaneous imbibition and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments. The results show that mainly micropores and mesopores are growing in the deep organic-rich shale of the Longmaxi Formation. The spontaneous imbibition curve of deep shale can be divided into an initial spontaneous imbibition stage, an intermediate transition stage, and a later diffusion stage, and the imbibition capacity coefficient of deep shale is lower than that of shallow shale. The transverse relaxation time (T2) spectrum distributions suggest that clay hydration and swelling produce new pores and microcracks, but then some pores and microfractures close. Deep shale reservoirs have an optimal hydration time when their physical properties are optimal. The increasing pore volume and the decreasing TOC content can enhance the imbibition capacity of shale. An inorganic salt solution, especially a KCl solution, has an inhibitory effect on the imbibition of shale. Higher salinity will result in a stronger inhibitory effect. It is crucial to determine the optimal amount of fracturing fluid and soaking time, and fracturing fluid with a high K+ content can be injected into the Longmaxi Formation deep shale to suppress hydration. These results provide theoretical guiding significance for comprehending the spontaneous imbibition and pore structure evolution characteristics of deep shale and enhancing methane production in deep shale gas reservoirs. Shale gas reservoir evaluation and production optimization both require geological models. However, currently, shale gas modeling remains relatively conventional and does not reflect the unique characteristics of shale gas reservoirs. Based on a case study of the Fuling shale gas reservoir in China, an integrated geological modeling workflow for shale gas reservoirs is proposed to facilitate its popularization and application and well improved quality and comparability. This workflow involves four types of models: a structure-stratigraphic model, reservoir (matrix) parameter model, natural fracture (NF) model, and hydraulic fracture (HF) model. The modeling strategies used for the four types of models vary due to the uniqueness of shale gas reservoirs. A horizontal-well lithofacies sublayer calibration-based method is employed to build the structure-stratigraphic model. The key to building the reservoir parameter model lies in the joint characterization of shale gas "sweet spots." The NF models are built at various scales using various methods. Based on the NF models, the HF models are built by extended simulation and microseismic inversion. In the entire workflow, various types of models are built in a certain sequence and mutually constrain one another. In addition, the workflow contains and effectively integrates multisource data. Moreover, the workflow involves multiple model integration processes, which is the key to model quality. The selection and optimization of modeling methods, the innovation and development of modeling algorithms, and the evaluation techniques for model uncertainty are areas where breakthroughs may be possible in the geological modeling of shale gas reservoirs. The workflow allows the complex process of geological modeling of shale gas reservoirs to be more systematic. It is of great significance for a dynamic analysis of reservoir development, from individual wells to the entire gas field, and for optimizing both development schemes and production systems. Under the background of China getting old before getting rich, the elderly service, as a public project, should be coordinated with the degree of aging and economic level to avoid the improper allocation of public resources. This article aims to investigate whether an insufficient or overthreshold phenomenon exists in China. Firstly, based on the "active aging theory," the elderly service index is constructed, and then matching and coordination models are proposed to obtain coordination degrees among aging, the elderly service, and the economy. In terms of coordination, elderly service-aging is at a low level and elderly service-economic level shows an agglomeration of high in the east and low in the west, while the elderly service-aging-economic level is quite different among provinces. In provinces with high coordination (e.g., Beijing and Guangdong), the elderly services are appropriate. In comparison, in provinces with low coordination, the elderly services may either lag behind the aging degree (e.g., Sichuan) or exceed the local economic level (e.g., Shannxi). Therefore, the development of aging services should focus on coordination rather than quantification and scale. The rock physics experiments and fracture toughness tests of shales from the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Sichuan Basin in China were carried out. Based on this, the calculation model of the fracture toughness was constructed, thus, the single well evaluation of the fracture toughness in shale formation would be obtained based on the well logging data, which can be used to summarize the spatial distribution characteristics of the fracture toughness in the shale formation. However, it is difficult to obtain transverse distribution characteristics of fracture toughness in shale formation based solely on the well logging data. Therefore, in order to investigate the spatial distribution of the fracture toughness, jointing well logging and seismic method could be adopted to quantitatively predict the fracture toughness in shale formation. The results show that fracture toughness of shales is sensitive to acoustic interval transit time and wave impedance. The prediction model of the fracture toughness of shales was constructed, which had a good prediction effect. The fracture toughness values of shales from the Upper Silurian Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation were larger, whereas those of shales from the Lower Silurian Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation were lower. The fracture toughness is mainly distributed in strips along the vertical direction while the distribution area is continuous in the lateral direction, indicating that it has obvious stratification characteristics. Ranaviruses are globally emerging pathogens causing mass mortality in both farmed and wild populations. In this study, we confirmed that a novel ranavirus was related to mass die‐offs of black‐spotted pond frogs (Rana nigromaculata) in Sichuan Province, China. Histological examination revealed marked degeneration or necrosis in parenchymatous organs, and intracytoplasmic inclusions can be observed in the liver and intestine cells. The virus was isolated from diseased tadpoles (tentatively named the virus as RNRV), and the ranavirus‐like particles could be observed in infected EPC cells by the electron microscope. The tadpoles challenged with the isolated virus displayed similar clinical symptoms and pathogenicity as those naturally infected. Physicochemical characteristics showed that it was sensitive to chloroform treatment, trypsin treatment, heating treatment, acidity and alkalinity. Biological characteristics showed that RNRV can induce cytopathic effect (CPE) in various fish cell lines and the optimum growth temperature is 25~28°C. In addition, the complete genome sequence of RNRV was determined (GenBank accession number MG791866) and analysed. The results showed that the genome of RNRV consists of 104,286 bp containing 55.2% GC content and 104 predicted ORFs were identified in the genome. Phylogenetic analysis of the complete genome revealed that RNRV should belong to the FV3‐like group in genus Ranavirus, and is more closely related to RGV and STIV. These studies confirmed that the RNRV was the causative agent of this natural epizootic event and genome analysis indicated that it belongs to the FV3‐like group. Shale gas is the most important new energy source in the field of energy, and its exploitation is very important. The research on the dynamic mechanical properties of shale is the premise of exploitation. To study the dynamic mechanical properties of shale from the Changning-Weiyuan area of Sichuan Province, China, under confining pressure, we used a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test system with an active containment device to carry out dynamic compression tests on shale with different bedding angles. (1) With active confining pressure, the shale experiences a high strain rate, and its stress-strain curve exhibits obvious plastic deformation. (2) For the same impact pressure, the peak stress of shale describes a U-shaped curve with an increasing bedding angle; besides, the peak stress of shale with different bedding angles increases linearly with rising confining pressure. The strain rate shows a significant confining pressure enhancement effect. With active confining pressure, the peak strain gradually decreases as the bedding angle increases. (3) As a result of the influence of different bedding angles, the dynamic elastic modulus of shale has obvious anisotropic characteristics. Shale with different bedding angles exhibits different rates of increase in the dynamic elastic modulus with rising confining pressure, which may be related to differences in the development of planes of weakness in the shale. Depleted gas reservoirs are important potential sites for CO2 geological sequestration due to their proven integrity and safety, well-known geological characteristics, and existing infrastructures and wells built for natural gas production. The Sichuan Basin has a large number of gas fields in which approximately 5.89×109 tons of CO2 can be stored. The Huangcaoxia gas field has the best opportunity in the eastern Sichuan Basin for a pilot project of CO2 sequestration due to its relatively large storage capacity and the nearly depleted state. A coupled thermal-hydrodynamic model including faults is built based on the geological and hydrogeological conditions in the Huangcaoxia gas field. The results of the numerical simulations show that the downhole temperature is above 80°C at a downhole pressure of 14 MPa under the constraint of temperature drop in the reservoir due to the strong Joule-Thomson effect. The corresponding injection pressure and temperature at the wellhead are 10.5 MPa and 60°C, respectively. The sizes of the pressure and CO2 plumes after an injection of 10 years are 18 km and 5 km, respectively. The zone affected by temperature change is very small, being about 1-2 km away from the injection well. The injection rate in the injection well Cao 31 averages 6.89 kg/s (21.73×104 tons/a). For a commercial-scale injection, another four wells (Cao 9, Cao 30, Cao 6, and Cao 22) can be combined with the Cao 31 well for injection, approaching an injection rate of 35 kg/s (1.10×106 tons/a). Both the pressure and temperature of CO2 injection decrease with the increasing depleted pressure in the gas reservoir when the latter is below 6 MPa. With the technique of CO2-enhanced gas recovery (CO2-EGR), the CO2 injection rate is improved and approximately 1.58×107 kg of gas can be produced during a studied time period of 10 years. The prediction of oil cracked gas resources is necessary and urgent in the gas exploration of these basins at high to over stage in China. A marine crude oil sample was pyrolyzed using sealed gold tubes systemin our study. The pyrolysates including gas, liquid, and solid were quantitatively analyzed. Based on the pyrolysis data and kinetic calculation, the yield correlativity among gas, liquid, and solid products was regressed with high correlative coefficients to establish a prediction model suitable for the resource estimation of oil cracked gas. The verification formula for this model was also established on the principle of mass conservation. The affecting factors and the application preconditions of this model were discussed. Finally the model was extrapolated to the prediction of oil cracked gas resources of Feixianguan formation in NE Sichuan basin, SW China. The prediction value of oil cracked resources is about 6.84×1012 m3, and generation intensity of oil cracked gas is about 97.5×108 m3/km2, and the paleo-oil reserves is about 97 × 108 t. Three-dimensional P wave velocity models under the Zipingpu reservoir in Longmenshan fault zone are obtained with a resolution of 2 km in the horizontal direction and 1 km in depth. We used a total of 8589 P wave arrival times from 1014 local earthquakes recorded by both the Zipingpu reservoir network and temporary stations deployed in the area. The 3-D velocity images at shallow depth show the low-velocity regions have strong correlation with the surface trace of the Zipingpu reservoir. According to the extension of those low-velocity regions, the infiltration depth directly from the Zipingpu reservoir itself is limited to 3.5 km depth, while the infiltration depth downwards along the Beichuan-Yingxiu fault in the study area is about 5.5km depth. Results show the low-velocity region in the east part of the study area is related to the Proterozoic sedimentary rocks. The Guanxian-Anxian fault is well delineated by obvious velocity contrast and may mark the border between the Tibetan Plateau in the west and the Sichuan basin in the east. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
