Objective: Although patient decision aids (PtDAs) have been shown to improve shared decision‐making, integration into clinical care pathways remains limited. This study investigated, among other outcomes, the uptake of the PtDA by professionals and the uptake as perceived by patients. Methods: We performed a process evaluation among four breast cancer care teams that had been exposed to a multifaceted implementation strategy. Data were gathered by auditing patient files using a standardised data extraction sheet and conducting telephone interviews with patients using a structured interview guide. We analysed the data by using descriptive statistics. Results: We found that the implementation strategies, including advice on how and when to present the PtDA to the patient, were followed for 14% of the included patients (N = 84); 92% of the patients reported to have received a login code for the web‐based PtDA, while 67% logged in and used the PtDA at home. An important factor influencing the use was the clinician promoting it when delivering the PtDA (OR 9.95 95% CI 3.03–37.72). Discussion: The implementation strategies were followed in 14% of the patients, and a high delivery of the PtDA was achieved. Nondisclosure of traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM) use may cause individual to be at risk of undue harm. This study aimed to explore patient’s experience and views on their decision to disclose the use of T&CM to the doctor. An exploratory qualitative study using in-depth interview involving 10 primary care clinics attendees in Kuching was conducted. The results indicated that disclosure of T&CM use will motivate them to get information, increase doctor’s awareness, and get support from family and friends for disclosure. Fear of negative relationship and negative response from doctors was a barrier for disclosure. Doctor’s interpersonal and communication skills of being involved, treating patients respectfully, listening attentively, respecting privacy, and taking time for the patient were a critical component for disclosure. Intrapersonal trust regarding doctor influences their satisfaction on healthcare. Women are more open and receptive to a health concern and expressing negative emotions and tend to share problems, whereas men always described themselves as healthy, tended to keep their own personal feeling to themselves, and tended to not share. The doctor should consider gender differences in disclosure, their attitude towards T&CM use, and gained patient’s trust in the delivery of healthcare services. Somatic mutations in key oncogenes in non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) and melanoma are important determinants of tumour sensitivity to targeted therapies. Molecular screening for these predictive biomarkers is routinely used to inform treatment decisions; however, little is known about how best to communicate testing and results to patients. This qualitative study aimed to explore advanced cancer patients' attitudes and experiences regarding somatic tumour screening to identify their information and support needs. Sixteen NSCLC and eight melanoma patients who had undergone screening participated in a semi-structured face-to-face or telephone interview exploring their understanding, views, preferences and needs regarding screening. Interviews were audiotaped, transcribed and analysed for thematic patterns. Participants expressed positive views and unequivocal acceptance of screening, and understood its role in guiding treatment selection. They preferred to receive information verbally through simple, non-technical language from their oncologist with additional take-home materials. Patients were interested in learning about their test results, but wanted discussion to be focused on practical matters relevant to treatment. While receiving their screening results was not considered burdensome, information overload and cancer-related distress were identified as barriers to test comprehension. Patients may benefit from information and decision-related tools to better understand genomic information and adequately support psychosocial outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
