The respiratory disease of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has wreaked havoc on the economy of every nation by infecting and killing millions of people. This deadly disease has taken a toll on the life of the entire human race, and an exact cure for it is still not developed. Thus, the control and cure of this disease mainly depend on restricting its transmission rate through early detection. The detection of coronavirus infection facilitates the isolation and exclusive care of infected patients. This research paper proposes a novel data mining system that combines the ensemble feature selection method and machine learning classifier for the effective identification of COVID-19 infection. Different feature selection approaches including chi-square test, recursive feature elimination (RFE), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and random forest are evaluated for their effectiveness in enhancing the classification accuracy of the machine learning classifiers. The classifiers that are considered in this research work are decision tree, naïve Bayes, K -nearest neighbor (KNN), multilayer perceptron (MLP), and support vector machine (SVM). Two COVID-19 datasets were used for testing from which the best features supporting the dataset were extracted by the proposed system. In order to fully exploit the effect of intelligent evaluation of English teaching ability and explore the quality of English teaching, an intelligent evaluation method of English teaching ability based on improved machine learning algorithm is proposed, which can ensure the rational allocation of English teaching resources, analyze the big data of constraint parameters of English teaching ability evaluation, and obtain frequent item sets of English teaching quality based on big data mining technology. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) method was used to improve the parameters of the SVM, and the optimal parameters of the support vector machines (SVM) were obtained, which were input into the sample of English teaching effect evaluation, and a method was constructed to maximize the SVM. The optimal parameters are introduced into the decision function, so as to achieve the purpose of English teaching quality assessment. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a high convergence speed and can achieve rapid convergence with only 30 network trainings. At the same time, the evaluation accuracy of English teaching quality is as high as 95%, the correlation coefficient of the results is as high as 0.95, and the evaluation time is low. This paper employs machine learning algorithms to detect tax evasion and analyzes tax data. With the development of commercial businesses, traditional algorithms are not appropriate for solving the tax evasion detection problem. Hence, other algorithms with acceptable speed, precision, analysis, and data decisions must be used. In the case of assets and tax assessment, the integration of machine learning models with meta-heuristic algorithms increases accuracy due to optimal parameters. In this paper, intelligent machine learning algorithms are used to solve tax evasion detection. This research uses an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm to improve the multilayer perceptron neural network by finding the optimal weight and improving support vector machine (SVM) classifiers with optimal parameters. The IPSO-MLP and IPSO-SVM models using the IPSO algorithm are used as new models for tax evasion detection. Our proposed system applies the dataset collected from the general administration of tax affairs of West Azerbaijan province of Iran with 1500 samples for the tax evasion detection problem. The evaluations show that the IPSO-MLP model has a higher accuracy rate than the IPSO-SVM model and logistic regression. Moreover, the IPSO-MLP model has higher accuracy than SVM, Naive Bayes, k-nearest neighbor, C5.0 decision tree, and AdaBoost. With the rapid increase of the number of Internet users and the amount of online comment data, a large number of referable information samples are provided for data mining technology. As a technical application of data mining, text sentiment classification can be widely used in public opinion management, marketing, and other fields. In this study, a combination approach to SVM (support vector machine) and IPSO (improved particle swarm optimization) is proposed to classify sentiment by using text data. First, the text data of 30,000 goods reviews and corresponding ratings are collected through the web crawler. Then, TFIDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency) and Word2vec are used to vectorize the goods review text data. Next, the proposed classification model is trained by the SVM, and the initial parameters of the SVM are optimized by the IPSO. Finally, we applied the trained SVM-IPSO model to the test set and evaluated the performance by several measures. Our experiment results indicate that the proposed model performed the best for text data sentiment classification. Additionally, the traditional machine learning model SVM becomes very effective after parameter optimization, which demonstrates that the parameters' optimization by IPSO has successfully improved the classification accuracy. Furthermore, our proposed model SVM-IPSO significantly outperforms other benchmark models, indicating that it could be applied to improve the accuracy and efficiency for text data sentiment classification. In this study, a hybrid method combining extreme learning machine (ELM) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed to forecast train arrival delays that can be used for later delay management and timetable optimization. First, nine characteristics (e.g., buffer time, the train number, and station code) associated with train arrival delays are chosen and analyzed using extra trees classifier. Next, an ELM with one hidden layer is developed to predict train arrival delays by considering these characteristics mentioned before as input features. Furthermore, the PSO algorithm is chosen to optimize the hyperparameter of the ELM compared to Bayesian optimization and genetic algorithm solving the arduousness problem of manual regulating. Finally, a case is studied to confirm the advantage of the proposed model. Contrasted to four baseline models (k-nearest neighbor, categorical boosting, Lasso, and gradient boosting decision tree) across different metrics, the proposed model is demonstrated to be proficient and achieve the highest prediction accuracy. Firstly formulated to solve unconstrained optimization problems, the common way to solve constrained ones with the metaheuristic particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) is represented by adopting some penalty functions. In this paper, a new nonpenalty-based constraint handling approach for PSO is implemented, adopting a supervised classification machine learning method, the support vector machine (SVM). Because of its generality, constraint handling with SVM appears more adaptive both to nonlinear and discontinuous boundary. To preserve the feasibility of the population, a simple bisection algorithm is also implemented. To improve the search performances of the algorithm, a relaxation function of the constraints is also adopted. In the end part of this paper, two numerical literature benchmark examples and two structural examples are discussed. The first structural example refers to a homogeneous constant cross-section simply supported beam. The second one refers to the optimization of a plane simply supported Warren truss beam. The obtained results in terms of objective function demonstrate that this new approach represents a valid alternative to solve constrained optimization problems even in structural optimization field. Furthermore, as demonstrated by the Warren truss beam problem, this new algorithm provides an optimal structural design which represents also a good solution from the technical point of view with a trivial rounding-off that does not jeopardize significantly the optimization design process. Incipient fault detection and identification (IFDI) of cutting arms is a crucial guarantee for the smooth operation of a roadheader. However, the shortage of fault samples restricts the application of the fault diagnosis technique, and the data analysis tools should be optimized efficiently. In this study, four machine learning tools (the back-propagation neural network based on genetic algorithm optimization, the naive Bayes based on genetic algorithm optimization, the support vector machines based on particle swarm optimization, and the support vector machines based on dynamic cuckoo) are applied to address the challenge in the IFDI of cutting arms. The commonly measured current and vibration data cutting arms are used in the IFDI. The experimental results show that the support vector machines based on dynamic cuckoo outperform the other methods. Besides, the performance of the four methods under different operating conditions is compared. The fault cause of cutting arms of the roadheader is analyzed and the design improvement scheme for cutting arms is provided. The main purpose of this study aims to apply and compare the rationality of landslide susceptibility maps using support vector machine (SVM) and particle swarm optimization coupled with support vector machine (PSO-SVM) models in Lueyang County, China, enhance the connection with the natural terrain, and analyze the application of grid units and slope units. A total of 186 landslide locations were identified by earlier reports and field surveys. The landslide inventory was randomly divided into two parts: 70% for training dataset and 30% for validation dataset. Based on the multisource data and geological environment, 16 landslide conditioning factors were selected, including control factors and triggering factors (i.e., altitude, slope angle, slope aspect, plan curvature, profile curvature, SPI, TPI, TRI, lithology, distance to faults, TWI, distance to rivers, NDVI, distance to roads, land use, and rainfall). The susceptibility between each conditioning factor and landslide was deduced using a certainty factor model. Subsequently, combined with grid units and slope units, the landslide susceptibility models were carried out by using SVM and PSO-SVM methods. The precision capability of the landslide susceptibility mapping produced by different models and units was verified through a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The results showed that the PSO-SVM model based on slope units had the best performance in landslide susceptibility mapping, and the area under the curve (AUC) values of training and validation datasets are 0.945 and 0.9245, respectively. The traction performance of heavy-haul locomotive is subject to the wheel/rail adhesion states. However, it is difficult to obtain these states due to complex adhesion mechanism and changeable operation environment. According to the influence of wheel/rail adhesion utilization on locomotive control action, the wheel/rail adhesion states are divided into four types, namely normal adhesion, fault indication, minor fault, and serious fault in this work. A wheel/rail adhesion state identification method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) and kernel extreme learning machine (KELM) is proposed. To this end, a wheel/rail state identification model is constructed using KELM, and then the regularization coefficient and kernel parameter of KELM are optimized by using PSO to improve its accuracy. Finally, based on the actual data, the proposed method is compared with PSO support vector machines (PSO-SVM) and basic KELM, respectively, and the results are given to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. In order to improve the strip surface defect recognition and classification accuracy and efficiency, Rough Set (RS) attribute reduction algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was used on the optimal selection of strip surface defect image decision features, which removed redundant attributes, provided reduction data for the follow-up Support Vector Machine (SVM) model, reduced vector machine learning time, and constructed the SVM classifier, which uses Second-Order Cone Programming (SOCP) and multikernel Support Vector Machine classification model. Six kinds of typical defects such as rust, scratch, orange peel, bubble, surface crack, and rolled-in scale are recognized and classification is made using this classifier. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 99.5%, which is higher than that of SVM algorithm and Relevance Vector Machine (RVM) algorithm. And because of using the Rough Set attribute reduction algorithm based on PSO algorithm, the learning time of SVM is reduced, and the average time of the classification and recognition model is 58.3 ms. Disease diagnosis is conducted with a machine learning method. We have proposed a novel machine learning method that hybridizes support vector machine (SVM), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and cuckoo search (CS).The new method consists of two stages: firstly, a CS based approach for parameter optimization of SVM is developed to find the better initial parameters of kernel function, and then PSO is applied to continue SVM training and find the best parameters of SVM. Experimental results indicate that the proposed CS-PSO-SVM model achieves better classification accuracy and F-measure than PSO-SVM and GASVM.
