The Porsche 968 Club Sport automobile is available for less than 30,000 pounds sterling, although equipment quality has been compromised to achieve this low price. The car provides class-leading handling, however, and is superbly engineered. It provides a faultlessly comfortable ride, but noise can be a problem. It is costly to service, with overheating becoming a problem on the test car after 20,500 miles, and also expensive to insure. The Club Sport has poor ventilation, no air conditioning and plastic seats, making it hot and uncomfortable to drive in town in summer.

Savings of 14, 275 pounds sterling can be made by buying the BMW 840Ci, instead of the 850 Ci. The 840 offers a better engine and no performance loss over the 850. Similarly, the Alfa 155 Twin Spark 1.8 is recommended over the V6. The Porsche 96B Club Sport has now completed 7,500 miles and the hot weather in Jun has revealed that its cooling fan was not working efficiently. This means that the interior of the car is uncomfortably hot and not suitable for driving in hot weather. The car has suffered from hot running for a while but replacing the cooling fan relays solved the problem. Some six weeks later the car one again became very hot and was returned to AFN and a new fan motor was fitted.

The Porsche 968 Club Sport cost 27,000 pounds sterling in March 1994, with 15,000 miles on the clock. The car offers great feel for steering, throttle and brakes, although the car tested has been taken in for its 24,000 mile service 2,500 miles early, due to problems.
