Abstract: The absolute muon flux between 20 GeV and 300 GeV is measured with the L3 magnetic muon spectrometer for zenith angles ranging from 0 degree to 58 degrees. Due to the large exposure of about 150 m2 sr d, and the excellent momentum resolution of the L3 muon chambers, a precision of 2.3% at 150 GeV in the vertical direction is achieved. The ratio of positive to negative muons is studied between 20 GeV and 500 GeV, and the average vertical muon charge ratio is found to be 1.285 +- 0.003 (stat.)+- 0.019 (syst.).

Abstract: A search for the lightest neutral CP-even and neutral CP-odd Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model is performed using 216.6 pb-1 of data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 203 and 209 GeV. No indication of a signal is found. Including our results from lower centre-of-mass energies, lower limits on the Higgs boson masses are set as a function of tan(beta) for several scenarios. For tan(beta) greater than 0.7 they are mh 84.5 GeV and mA 86.3 GeV at 95% confidence level.

Abstract: Inclusive D^{*+-} production in two-photon collisions is studied with the L3 detector at LEP, using 683 pb^{-1} of data collected at centre-of-mass energies from 183 to 208 GeV. Differential cross sections are determined as functions of the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of the D^{*+-} mesons in the kinematic region 1 GeV P_T 12 GeV and |eta| 1.4. The cross sections sigma(e^+e^- ---> e^+e^-D^{*+-}X)$ in this kinematical region is measured and the sigma(e^+e^- ---> e^+e^- cc{bar}X) cross section is derived. The measurements are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Abstract: A search for chargino, neutralino and scalar lepton pair-production in e+e- collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV is performed under the assumptions that R-parity is not conserved in decays and only one of the coupling constants lambda_ijk, lambda'_ijk or lambda''_ijk is non-negligible. No signal is found in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 176.4 pb-1. Limits on the production cross sections, on the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model parameters and on the masses of the supersymmetric particles are derived.

Abstract: We present a combined measurement of $\Rb = \Gamma(\mathrm{Z \rightarrow b\overline{b}}) / \Gamma(\mathrm{Z} \rightarrow\mbox{hadro ns})$ and the semileptonic branching ratio of b quarks in Z decays, $\Brbl$, using double-tag methods. Two analyses are performed on one million hadronic Z decays collected in 1994 and 1995. The first analysis exploits the capabilities of the silicon microvertex detector. The tagging of b-events is based on the large impact parameter of tracks from weak b-decays with respect to the $\mathrm{e^+e^-}$ collision point. In the second analysis, a high-$p_t$ lepton tag is used to enhance the b-component in the sample and its momentum spectrum is used to constrain the model dependent uncertainties in the semileptonic b-decay. The analyses are combined in order to provide precise determinations of $\Rb$ and $\Brbl$: Rb = 0.2174 \pm 0.0015\mbox{(stat.)} \pm 0.0028\mbox{(sys.)}; $\Brbl = (10.16 \pm 0.13\mbox{(stat.)} \pm 0.30\mbox{(sys.)})\%.

Abstract: We report the result of a search for charginos and neutralinos, in $\rm e^+e^-$ collisions at 189 GeV centre-of-mass energy at LEP. No evidence for such particles is found in a data sample of 176 pb$^{-1}$. Improved upper limits for these particles are set on the production cross sections. New exclusion contours in the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model are derived, as well as new lower limits on the masses of these supersymmetric particles. Under the assumptions of common gaugino and scalar masses at the GUT scale, we set an absolute lower limit on the mass of the lightest neutralino of 32.5 GeV and on the mass of the lightest chargino of 67.7 GeV.

Abstract: Measurements of the two-photon interaction e+e- --> e+e- hadrons at sqrt(s) = 91 GeV and sqrt(s) = 183 GeV are presented. The double-tag events, collected with the L3 detector, correspond to integrated luminosities of 140 pb-1 at 91 GeV and 52 pb-1 at 183 GeV. The cross-section of gamma*gamma* collisions has been measured at Q^2 = 3.5 GeV^2 and Q^2 = 14 GeV^2. The data agree well with predictions based on perturbative QCD, while the Quark Parton Model alone is insufficient to describe the data.

Abstract: We report the result of a search for scalar leptons in $\rm e^+e^-$, collisions at 189 GeV centre-of-mass energy at LEP. No evidence for such particles is found in a data sample of 176 pb$^{-1}$. Improved upper limits are set on the production cross sections for these new particles. New exclusion contours in the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model are derived, as well as new lower limits on the masses of these supersymmetric particles. Under the assumptions of common gaugino and scalar masses at the GUT scale, we set an absolute lower limit on the mass of the lightest scalar electron of 65.5 GeV. Abstract: The pair production of Z bosons is studied using the data collected by the L3 detector at LEP in 1998 in $\rm e^+e^-$ collisions at a centre--of--mass energy of 189\,GeV. All the visible final states are considered and the cross section of this process is measured to be $0.74^{+0.15}_{-0.14}\,{(\rm stat.)}\,{\pm 0.04}\,{(\rm syst.)}\, \mathrm{pb}$. Final states containing b quarks are enhanced by a dedicated selection and their production cross section is found to be $0.18^{+0.09}_{-0.07}\,{(\rm stat.)}\,\pm 0.02\,{\rm (syst.)}\, \mathrm{pb}$. Both results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Limits on anomalous couplings between neutral gauge bosons are derived from these measurements

Abstract: The time-integrated $\mathrm{B}^{0}\bar{\mathrm{B}}^{0}$ mixing parameter and the forward-backward charge asymmetry in the process $\mathrm{e}^{+}\mathrm{e}^{-} \rightarrow \mathrm{b}\bar{\mathrm{b}}$ are measured in hadronic \Z events containing prompt muons or electrons, collected by the L3 experiment in the years 1990 to 1995. The total sample of 3.3 million hadronic $\mathrm{Z}$ events with a mean centre-of-mass energy of 91.26 GeV yields: \begin{eqnarray*} \mbox{$A_{\mathrm{FB}}^{\mathrm{b} }$} & = & 0.0960 \pm 0.0066(stat.) \pm 0.0033(sys.) \,, \\ %corel-6 \mbox{$\chi_{\mathrm{b}}$} & = & 0.1192 \pm 0.0068(stat.) \pm 0.0051(sys.) \,. % \end{eqnarray*} %%% %%% %%% %%% This asymmetry measurement together with measurements at energies away from the $\mathrm{Z}$ pole energy yield a pole asymmetry and corresponding effective electroweak mixing angle of: \begin{eqnarray*} \mbox{$A_{\mathrm{FB}}^{0,\mathrm{b}}$} & = & 0.1015 \pm 0.0064(stat.) \pm 0.0035(sys.) \,, \\ %corel-6.nb \mbox{$\sin^{2}\bar{\theta}_{\mathrm{W}}$} & = & 0.2318 \pm 0.0013 \, .\\ %sin2tw-3.nb \end{eqnarray*}
