The calcination-vitrification process has been used in France for over 30 years for the containment of high level nuclear waste arising from the spent fuel reprocessing. The use of numerical tools has proved to be essential for the process understanding and optimization. In the past ten years,numerical simulation works on the thermal, hydraulic and electromagnetic aspects involved in the vitrification process have been carried out in the context of the cold crucible development, a new type of furnace commissioned in 2010. As a continuation of these studies, the objective of the phd work is to add to the existing simulations, a modeling of the chemical aspects taking place during the nuclear glass synthesis, especially during the feeding with glass frit and calcine. In this perspective, a kinetic modeling of the reaction mechanism has been proposed based on data from thermal analyses. The coupling of this model with the magneto-thermo-hydraulic simulation tools was implemented and validated based on tests carried out at the mock-up scale and data from the industrial scale. Particular attention has been paid to identifying the nature of chemical reactions., Le procédé de calcination-vitrification est la solution utilisée en France depuis plus de 30 ans pour le conditionnement des déchets nucléaires de haute activité issus du retraitement des combustibles usés. L’utilisation des outils numériques s’est rapidement révélée indispensable dans la démarche de compréhension et d’amélioration continue du procédé. Depuis une dizaine d’années, des travaux de simulation numérique des aspects thermiques, hydrauliques et électromagnétiques des fours de vitrification ont été réalisés notamment dans le cadre du développement du creuset froid, un nouveau type de four mis en service en 2010. Dans la continuité de ces travaux, il s’agit dans cette étude d’ajouter aux simulations existantes, les aspects chimiques se déroulant lors de l’élaboration du verre notamment lors de l’alimentation du bain de verre en précurseurs (fritte de verre et déchets calcinés). En ce sens, une modélisation d’un point de vue cinétique et enthalpique du mécanisme réactionnel a été proposée à partir des données d’analyses thermiques. Le couplage de ce modèle avec les outils de simulations magnéto-thermo-hydrauliques a été mis en œuvre et validé à partir des essais réalisés à l’échelle maquette et sur la base des données existantes à l’échelle industrielle. Une attention particulière a été accordée à l’identification de la nature des réactions chimiques.

International audience; Phenolic compounds (anthocyanins, tannins), mainly present in the skin of the grape berry, play a decisive role in the sensory properties of red wine. They are partly extracted during the maceration step of the winemaking process and can undergo different structural changes., Their extraction is mostly related to their initial contents in skins, medium conditions and to their interactions with cell wall material, which modulate their diffusion. The aim of this work was to characterize the impact of grape variety, berry size and density on the extraction of skin polyphenols at maturity harvest, and to identify the main factors involved.Thus, grape heterogeneity was studied at technological maturity, for two contrasted varieties in terms of phenolic compositions (Grenache, Carignan). The berries were sorted according to their size (vol-, vol+) and then density (deg-, deg+). The grape skins were analyzed (polyphenol constituents, alcohol insoluble solids (AISs) polysaccharides and proteins). Wine-like maceration experiments were performed on fresh skins in model systems at constant parameters (22°C, under argon, without yeast), by increasing the percentage of ethanol from 0 to 15%. After the diffusion experiment, precipitates were recovered and skins were then successively washed with new 0 and 15% wine like solvents until total phenolic extraction. The Polyphenol concentration was determined by spectrophotometry and chromatography. Skin AISs differed between the two varieties by their carbohydrate composition and protein content. Fresh skins had similar contents in polymeric tannins, but strongly differed by their anthocyanin contents (higher in Carignan and in the ripest berries) and composition (higher proportions in coumaroylated anthocyanins in Carignan). During maceration, anthocyanin extraction differed between the two varieties and with the berry density, whereas berry size had no impact. The initial quantities of polyphenols in grape skins was not sufficient to predict their concentrations in wine. Both a selective precipitation of coumaroylated anthocyanins and chemical changes strongly modulated anthocyanin concentrations. Neither anthocyanin contents nor the AIS compositions had a decisive impact on tannin extraction. The analysis of residual polyphenols in skins evidenced a deficit in the mass balance due to different evolution mechanisms of anthocyanins and tannins. Further analyses are necessary to evaluate the composition of wines based on the composition of the skin and the pulp, which is a strong demand from the vine-wine sector, especially in the context of varietal selection in response to climate change.

In order to fight this disease, a new coumarin derivative ligand (4-[(pyridin-3-ylmethyl) amino]-2H-chromen-2-one) (LTA) has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, NMR, ATR, UV-Visible and cyclic voltammetry. Chemical reactivity, kinetic and thermodynamic studies were investigated using DFT method. The possible binding mode between LTA and Main protease (Mpro) of SARS-CoV-2 and their reactivity were studied using molecular docking simulation. Single crystal X-ray diffraction showed that LTA crystallizes in a monoclinic system with P21 space group. The reactivity descriptors such as nucleophilic index confirm that LTA is more nucleophile, inducing complexation with binding species like biomolecules. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters showed that the mechanism of crystal formation is moderately exothermic. The binding energy of the SARS-CoV-2/Mpro-LTA complex and the calculated inhibition constant using docking simulation showed that the active LTA molecule has the ability to inhibit SARS-CoV-2., Graphical abstract Image, graphical abstract

International audience; Identifying contact allergens among the myriad of chemicals used in commercial products is an extremely arduous task. This is even more difficult in the case of components of complex mixtures such as natural extracts and essential oils. Today, non-animal alternative methods validated to assess the sensitizing potential of chemicals are, overall, unable to completely predict the skin sensitization potential of these complex mixtures of chemicals. Moreover, toxicological profiles are very difficult to extrapolate from the mere sum of the profiles of the individual constituents as required today. In this context, hazard identification remains still one of the best solutions for risk assessment. This chapter presents a brief overview of methods allowing the identification of allergens in complicated chemical mixtures, going from bioassay-guided fractionation and combination with structure-activity relationships studies to more recent new techniques developed to trap and identify reactive intermediates in natural extracts during air oxidation. Practical applications are exposed such as the case of oak moss AU2 absolute. Also, the assessment of the sensitization potential of tea tree oil is a typical example of the challenges that toxicologists encounter in the safety evaluation of essential oils. Methods based on chemical reactivity and fluorescence trapping, basically studying the oil after aging and air oxidation, are discussed. Hence, a great deal of progress has been accomplished during the last years for the identification of chemicals culprit of the sensitizing potential of very complex chemical mixtures. That being said, the identification of allergens in complex mixtures and products is still a challenging puzzle.

International audience; Meat processing can affect the chemical reactivity of proteins; for instance, it is well known that meat cooking leads to protein oxidation. The proteins modifications can also develop during digestion because of the physicochemical conditions of the stomach, i.e. oxygen pressure, low pH, and reducing conditions. This issue is of great importance to better assess the nutritional quality of meat, assessed by its amino acids composition and their digestibility properties. These qualities, as well as the organoleptic aspect, make meat an indispensable food, especially for specific population such as elderly. In this context, this study aimed at characterizing the chemical reactivity during meat during digestion, and its modulation by aging digestive physiology. For this, a dynamic in vitro artificial digestive computer-controlled system (DIDGI®) was used to reflect human gastro-intestinal conditions for adult and elderly physiologies. Peptides and proteins from stomach, duodenum and ileum were analysed by high-resolution LC-MS/MS mass spectrometry to identify protein digestion targets and their susceptibility to chemical conditions. The label-free protein quantification was performed using peptide relative intensity summation. The chemical reactivity was assessed by protein oxidation, evaluated by measuring carbonyls formation, and by antioxidant activity, measured using ORAC test. Kinetics of protein hydrolysis and protein oxidation during gastro-intestinal digestion were analyzed using ANOVA (Statistica software). The first results showed an increase in protein oxidation, all along the in vitro meat digestion. Moreover, the chemical reactivity of meat digestion was not modified by the aging, despite the difference in pH decrease between both digestive physiologies. This preliminary results will be completed in regard with the proteins hydrolysis kinetics, studied using the workflow presented in a poster by Sayd et al.

The « charentaise » distillation is a batch distillation method that allows the production of cognac spirits from wine. The distillation is performed in copper alembics through a direct open flame heating that could favor the formation of volatile compounds. The first part of this study consists in identifying the volatile compounds formed during the distillation of cognac spirits. The mass balance performed on volatile compounds revealed that 2 esters, 3 aldehydes, 3 terpenes and 12 norisoprenoids were generated. Thereafter, two distillations using a different heating mode (direct open flame and steam) were conducted on a small-scale alembic. The goal was to assess the impact of the heating mode on the formation of volatile compounds. The study showed that the mode of heating has little effect on volatile compounds’ generation. Moreover, the compounds formed are similar to the ones during the traditional distillation of cognac spirit. Finally, the third part of the study focuses on the characterization of the acid hydrolysis of α-terpenyl-O-β-glucopyranoside which is the suspected precursor to be involved in the formation of α-terpineol, identified as generated during the charentaise distillation and in small-scale distillations. α-terpenyl-O-β- glucopyranoside was placed in two representative model solutions corresponding to the initial wine and the stillage. Both solutions were exposed to 100 °C in a closed reactor system. Results showed that the hydrolysis of the precurseur formed α- terpineol, trans-terpin and its isomere that seems to be 4-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-1- methylcyclohexan-2-ol). Data also revealed that the hydrolysis of the precursor follows a first order reaction model ant that an aqueous media promotes the formation of trans-terpin.; La distillation dite « charentaise » est une méthode de distillation discontinue permettant la production d’eaux-de-vie de cognac à partir de vin. La distillation est effectuée dans des alambics en cuivre avec un chauffage à feu nu qui peut être favorable à la génération de composés volatils. Or, les précurseurs et les mécanismes de réactions formant ces composés, pendant la distillation, restent mal connus. La première partie de l’étude consiste à identifier les composés volatils formés au cours de la distillation charentaise. Le bilan matière effectué sur de nombreux composés lors du procédé de distillation a révélé que 2 esters, 3 aldéhydes, 3 terpènes et 12 norisoprénoïdes étaient générés. Par la suite, deux distillations utilisant un mode de chauffe différent (feu nu et vapeur) ont été menées sur un alambic pilote. Le but était d’évaluer l’impact du mode de chauffe sur la génération en composés volatils. L’étude a montré que le mode de chauffe a peu d’effet sur la génération en composés volatils. De plus, les composés formés sont similaires à ceux formés lors de la distillation en alambic traditionnel. Enfin, le troisième axe de l’étude porte sur la caractérisation de l’hydrolyse acide de l’α- terpenyl-O-β-glucopyranoside, précurseur impliqué dans la formation de l’α-terpineol, identifié comme étant généré lors de la distillation charentaise ainsi qu’en alambic pilote. Le suivi de la dégradation dans un réacteur hermétiquement fermé de l’α-terpenyl-O-β-glucopyranoside et dans des conditions représentatives du vin durant la distillation montre l’hydrolyse pour former l’α- terpineol, le trans-terpin et son isomère. Cette étude a révélé que l’hydrolyse du précurseur est favorisée en milieu aqueux et suit une cinétique d’ordre 1

This thesis focuses on the influence of the convective and cloudy boundary layer on the chemical reactivity in West Africa. To answer this question, high resolution simulations (50m) are performed on the atmospheric model Meso-NH coupled to a detailed chemical scheme representing the gaseous and aqueous phases. This spatial scale allow to explicitly represent the spatial and temporal characteristics of turbulent structures. Thermals in the boundary layer are identified by a conditional sampling based on a radioactive-decay passive scalar. The turbulent transport influence on the redistribution of chemical species depends on the chemical lifetimes of these species. Spatial segregation is created within the convective boundary layer that increases or decreases the mean reaction rates between compounds. AMMA campaign field study, and more recently DACCIWA, are used to define dynamical and chemical forcing of two simulated environments. The first one is representative of a biogenic environment dominated by natural emissions of VOC. The second reproduces a moderately polluted typical urban area of the Guinean Gulf (Cotonou in Benin). For the sake of simplicity, simulations analysis are limited to the chemical reaction between isoprene and OH in the biogenic case, and the reaction between C>2 aldehydes and OH in the anthropogenic case. The convective boundary layer influence is studied at thermal and domain scale. This makes the connection with coarse resolution models for which a hypothesis of perfect and immediate mixing is made, neglecting the spatial variability of chemical species within a grid cell. The first results are based on the gaseous phase only. Cloudy development in the convective boundary layer only affects the vertical transport of chemical species. The simulations show that thermals are preferential reaction zones where the chemical reactivity is the highest. The top of the boundary layer is the region characterized by the highest calculated segregation intensities but of the opposite sign in both environments. In the biogenic environment, the inhomogeneous mixing of isoprene and OH in this zone leads to a maximum decrease of 30% of the mean reaction rate. In the anthropogenic case, the effective rate constant for OH reacting with aldehydes is 16% higher at maximum than the averaged value. The OH reactivity is higher by 15 to 40% inside thermals compared to the surroundings depending on the chemical environment and time of the day. Because thermals occupy a small fraction of the simulated domain, the impact of turbulent motions on the domain-averaged OH total reactivity reaches a maximum 9% decrease for the biogenic case and a maximum of 5% increase for the anthropogenic case. LES simulations including the aqueous reactivity reveal a significant decrease in OH mixing ratios associated to the presence of clouds. Consequently, isoprene and C>2 aldehydes mixing ratios increase at these altitudes.; Cette thèse porte sur l'influence de la couche limite convective et nuageuse sur la réactivité chimique en Afrique de l'Ouest. Les thermiques en couche limite sont identifiés à l'aide d'un échantillonnage conditionnel basé sur l'utilisation d'un traceur passif à décroissance radioactive. L'impact du transport turbulent sur la redistribution d'espèces chimiques dépend du temps de vie chimique de ces espèces. La ségrégation spatiale créée au sein de la couche limite augmente ou réduit les taux de réaction moyens entre composés. La campagne de terrain AMMA, et plus récemment DACCIWA, sont utilisées pour définir des forçages dynamiques et chimiques pour des environnements simulés. Le premier est représentatif d'un environnement biogénique dominé par des émissions naturelles de COV. Le second reproduit un environnement urbain modérément pollué typique du Golfe de Guinée (Cotonou au Bénin). Pour simplifier, l'analyse des simulations est limitée aux réactions chimiques entre OH et l'isoprène dans le cas biogénique, entre les aldéhydes C>2 et OH dans le cas urbain. L'influence de la couche limite convective est étudiée à l'échelle du thermique et du domaine. En environnement biogénique, le mélange non-homogène de l'isoprène et de OH dans cette zone induit une diminution maximale de 30% du taux de réaction moyen. Dans le cas urbain, la constante de réaction effective entre OH et les aldéhydes est supérieure de 16% à la constante moyenne. La réactivité de OH est supérieure de 15 à 40% dans les thermiques comparé au reste du domaine, dépendant de l'environnement chimique et de l'heure. Comme les thermiques occupent une faible portion du domaine, l'impact des structures turbulentes sur la réactivité totale de OH est une diminution de 9% pour le cas biogénique et une augmentation maximale de 5% dans le cas anthropique. Des simulations LES incluant la réactivité aqueuse révèlent une baisse importante des rapports de mélange de OH associée à la présence de nuages.

Nuclear waste glasses are produced by chemical reactions between a solid waste (calcine) and a glassy precursor (glass frit) through a high-temperature vitrification process. The waste is first dried and calcined (to lose water and nitrogen respectively), then mixed with the glass frit. A succession of physicochemical processes of impregnation, diffusion, crystallization and dissolution is involved in order to incorporate the radioactive elements within the glassy network. These reactions, which are dependent on the precursor composition and the synthesis conditions, must be complete to ensure the homogeneity of the glass and to guarantee its long-term behavior. The aim of this work is to determine the chemical reactions between the precursors and to quantify the reaction kinetics in order to identify the processes responsible for their limitation. A simplified system consisting of a sodium-aluminum borosilicate glass frit and a calcine containing sodium nitrate and aluminum oxide (the principal oxides present in complex calcines) is progressively complexified to determine the influence of low solubility elements initially present in the fission product solutions to be vitrified. The cases of molybdenum and neodymium oxides are the focus of attention. The formation conditions (time, temperature) of crystalline molybdates (sodium, calcium) and aluminates (sodium, neodymium) and their range of stability in the calcines are determined. The dissolution kinetics of these phases in the glass frit is modeled. It is shown that the dissolution of molybdenum, as Na2MoO4, is controlled by the thermodynamic solubility of MoO3 in the glass. It is independent of the sodium aluminate dissolution. For both, Na2MoO4 and sodium aluminates, dissolution reactions present an Arrhenian behaviour and the activation energies are close to that of the viscous flow. This work also describes the formation mechanisms of intermediate phases which can lead to the crystallization of the "yellow phase" (enriched in molybdenum, alkali and alkaline-earth oxides) that can form in more complex glasses.; Les verres nucléaires sont synthétisés par réactions chimiques à haute température entre un précurseur vitreux (fritte de verre) et un déchet calciné (calcinat) dans un procédé de calcination-vitrification. Le déchet est d'abord séché et dénitré (calcination) avant d'être mélangé à la fritte de verre (vitrification). Une succession de processus physico-chimiques d'imprégnation, diffusion, cristallisation et dissolution, est mise en jeu afin d'intégrer les éléments présents dans le calcinat au sein du réseau vitreux. Ces réactions, dépendantes de la composition des précurseurs et des conditions d'élaboration, doivent être complètes afin d'assurer l'homogénéité du verre et garantir son comportement à long terme. Ce travail a pour objectif de déterminer les réactions chimiques entre les précurseurs et de quantifier les cinétiques réactionnelles afin d'identifier in fine les processus responsables de leur limitation. Un système simplifié constitué d'une fritte de verre de type alumino-borosilicate de sodium et d'un calcinat contenant du nitrate de sodium et de l'oxyde d'aluminium (composés majeurs présents dans les calcinats complexes) est complexifié progressivement afin de déterminer l'influence des éléments de faible solubilité, présents initialement dans les solutions de produits de fission à vitrifier. Les cas des oxydes de molybdène et de néodyme sont en particulier étudiés. Les conditions de formation (temps, température) des phases cristallines de type molybdates (sodium, calcium) et aluminates (sodium, néodyme) ainsi que leur domaine de stabilité dans les calcinats sont déterminés. Les cinétiques de dissolution de ces phases dans la fritte de verre sont modélisées. Il est montré que la dissolution du molybdène, mis en évidence sous forme Na2MoO4, est contrôlée d'une part par la solubilité thermodynamique du MoO3 dans le verre, indépendamment de la dissolution des aluminates de sodium. D'autre part, les cinétiques de dissolution de Na2MoO4 et des aluminates présentent un comportement arrhénien avec la température dont les valeurs des énergies d'activation sont proches de celles de la viscosité du verre. Ces travaux décrivent également les mécanismes de formation d'intermédiaires réactionnels à l'origine de la cristallisation de la " yellow phase " (riche en oxydes de molybdène, d'alcalins et d'alcalinoterreux) pouvant se former dans des verres plus complexes.

Nuclear waste glasses are produced by chemical reactions between a solid waste (calcine) and a glassy precursor (glass frit) through a high-temperature vitrification process. The waste is first dried and calcined (to lose water and nitrogen respectively), then mixed with the glass frit. A succession of physicochemical processes of impregnation, diffusion, crystallization and dissolution is involved in order to incorporate the radioactive elements within the glassy network. These reactions, which are dependent on the precursor composition and the synthesis conditions, must be complete to ensure the homogeneity of the glass and to guarantee its long-term behavior. The aim of this work is to determine the chemical reactions between the precursors and to quantify the reaction kinetics in order to identify the processes responsible for their limitation. A simplified system consisting of a sodium-aluminum borosilicate glass frit and a calcine containing sodium nitrate and aluminum oxide (the principal oxides present in complex calcines) is progressively complexified to determine the influence of low solubility elements initially present in the fission product solutions to be vitrified. The cases of molybdenum and neodymium oxides are the focus of attention. The formation conditions (time, temperature) of crystalline molybdates (sodium, calcium) and aluminates (sodium, neodymium) and their range of stability in the calcines are determined. The dissolution kinetics of these phases in the glass frit is modeled. It is shown that the dissolution of molybdenum, as Na2MoO4, is controlled by the thermodynamic solubility of MoO3 in the glass. It is independent of the sodium aluminate dissolution. For both, Na2MoO4 and sodium aluminates, dissolution reactions present an Arrhenian behaviour and the activation energies are close to that of the viscous flow. This work also describes the formation mechanisms of intermediate phases which can lead to the crystallization of the "yellow phase" (enriched in molybdenum, alkali and alkaline-earth oxides) that can form in more complex glasses.; Les verres nucléaires sont synthétisés par réactions chimiques à haute température entre un précurseur vitreux (fritte de verre) et un déchet calciné (calcinat) dans un procédé de calcination-vitrification. Le déchet est d’abord séché et dénitré (calcination) avant d’être mélangé à la fritte de verre (vitrification). Une succession de processus physico-chimiques d’imprégnation, diffusion, cristallisation et dissolution, est mise en jeu afin d’intégrer les éléments présents dans le calcinat au sein du réseau vitreux. Ces réactions, dépendantes de la composition des précurseurs et des conditions d’élaboration, doivent être complètes afin d’assurer l’homogénéité du verre et garantir son comportement à long terme. Ce travail a pour objectif de déterminer les réactions chimiques entre les précurseurs et de quantifier les cinétiques réactionnelles afin d’identifier in fine les processus responsables de leur limitation. Un système simplifié constitué d’une fritte de verre de type alumino-borosilicate de sodium et d’un calcinat contenant du nitrate de sodium et de l’oxyde d’aluminium (composés majeurs présents dans les calcinats complexes) est complexifié progressivement afin de déterminer l’influence des éléments de faible solubilité, présents initialement dans les solutions de produits de fission à vitrifier. Les cas des oxydes de molybdène et de néodyme sont en particulier étudiés. Les conditions de formation (temps, température) des phases cristallines de type molybdates (sodium, calcium) et aluminates (sodium, néodyme) ainsi que leur domaine de stabilité dans les calcinats sont déterminés. International audience; Cognac wine spirit has a complex composition in volatile compounds which contributes to its organoleptic profile. This work focused on the batch distillation process and, in particular, on volatile compounds specifically produced by chemical reactions during the distillation of Cognac wine spirit, traditionally conducted in two steps with charentais pot stills. The aim of this study was to characterize these volatile compounds formed during distillation. Sampling has been performed on the distillates and inside the boiler during a typical Cognac distillation. The analysis of these samples allowed us to perform a mass balance and to point out several types of volatile compounds whose quantities strongly increased during the distillation process. These compounds were distinguished by their chemical family. It has been found that the first distillation step was decisive for the formation of volatile compounds. Moreover, 2 esters, 3 aldehydes, 12 norisoprenoids, and 3 terpenes were shown to be generated during the process. These results suggest that some volatile compounds found in Cognac spirit are formed during distillation due to chemical reactions induced by high temperature. These findings give important indications to professional distillers in order to enhance the product's quality.

International audience; Cognac spirit have a complex composition in aroma compounds which contributes to the product’s typical features perceived by the consumer. These compounds have different origins: they could come from grape musts, can be formed during fermentation, or be produced during distillation.The formation of compounds during distillation remains little understood, making this process hard to control regarding the specific aroma generated by heating during distillation. However, the “Charentaise distillation” of Cognac spirit is a traditional process well described in terms of equipment and operation by professionals.All the aroma compounds found in Cognac spirit freshly distilled results from the combination of several factors occurring before or during distillation. Indeed, the wine’s characteristics (acidity, alcohol content, aroma arising from yeast fermentation…), the method and the period of distillation strongly affect the final aroma composition of freshly distilled spirit. This work focus on the distillation process and in particular on aroma specifically produced by reaction during heating, besides aroma enrichment in final product through volatility principle.The “Charentaise distillation” method to obtain Cognac spirit is performed in two phases: the first step consists in heating the wine introduced in the boiler in order to obtain a distillate called “brouillis”. This brouillis is brought back to the boiler for a second distillation (second step) to obtain the spirit that will undergo a slow maturation in an oak barrel. The double distillation takes place under thermal conditions that could promote the generation of aroma compounds. The aim of this study is to identify these aroma compounds formed during distillation and formulate hypothesis regarding the reactions at the origin of their formation.To study the formation of these compounds at large-scale, a pot-still (alembic) with a capacity of 25 hectoliters have been made available, on which temperature sensors and a density meter have been installed. These devices allow a continuous follow-up on the evolution of these parameters. Sampling during distillation have been performed on the distillate and inside the boiler. The analysis on those samples allowed to perform a mass balance and point out several types of aroma compounds whose quantities have strongly increased during the distillation process. These compounds can be distinguished by their chemical family. Thus, two aldehydes: isobutanal (having a flowery odour) and 2-methylbutanal (having a chocolate odour) are mainly formed during distillation, coming certainly from a Strecker degradation. Moreover, two aromatic compounds, from norisoprenoids family: 1,1,6-trimethyldihydronaphtalene and 1-(2,3,6-trimethylphenyl)-3-buten-2-one commonly called TDN and TMPBE respectively are formed as well. TDN possesses notes of hydrocarbons whereas TMPBE has violet notes. Both are certainly present in the wine in their glycosidic form, and this issue will be studied in detail. The whole results suggest that part of aroma compounds found in Cognac spirit is formed during distillation due to chemical reactivity phenomena to be further studied in depth in our work.

Perfluorinated coatings used as anti-adhesive coatings in bread pans are subjected questions relating to their aging. In this context, the objective of this work was to focus on the consequences of aging of perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) coatings on their anti-adhesive performance. The consequences of loss of anti-adhesive properties were studied in terms of chemical risks and neoformed compounds in bread crust during baking in contact with a pan were investigated. To do so, pans were aged under industrial conditions, then a method was specifically developed for this study to measure forces during depanning step. Moreover, several bread formulas were tested. The aim was to determine the impact of physical state of lipids (rapeseed oil versus concrete fat) and of other components as proteins and fibers (by adding whole-wheat flour) on depanning step.Aging in industrial conditions seems to only affect physical properties (roughness) of PFA coatings. These modifications of the pan surface did not led to depanning problem at the end of the baking step. Moreover, the chosen reactivity markers evolve slightly with aging, whatever the bread formula used, even if a slightly increase of CML quantity with aged pan was highlighted.Furthermore, in order to characterize the adhesion of wheat dough depending on the temperature, a new methodology was developed. It consisted in measuring the adherence forces under experimental simulations on rheometer. We selected model glass surfaces which had chemical properties close to the properties of PFA coatings. We showed that adhesion and viscoelastic properties evolve in the same way with temperature, and interfacial properties also contribute to evolution of dough adhesion. Wheat dough tend to adhere more easily on hydrophilic surfaces. Anyway, on these surfaces, failure may become cohesive from a specific temperature, showing a decrease of the dough surface hydrophobicity.; Les revêtements perfluorés sont utilisés comme anti-adhésifs dans des moules de cuisson pour pains de mie. Bi films deposited on InAs(111) A and B sides have been studied by photoemission electron microscopy. A series of snapshots acquired during sequential annealing of the interfaces at temperatures below and above the melting temperature of Bi allowed obtaining a comprehensive image of the topographic and chemical evolutions of the Bi films that are found to be InAs side dependent. On the A side, a morphology of circular patterns controlled by Bi atoms mobility is observed. The patterns are formed on the pristine In-terminated InAs(111) surface covered by a weakly bonded Bi bilayer. On the B side, no particular morphology is observed due to a stronger chemical interaction between Bi and As atoms as evidenced by the spatially-resolved core-level photoelectron spectra. This research work focuses on the pure and doped bioactive glasses for use as bone biomaterial. They are synthesized by the melting method in the system SiO₂-CaO-Na₂O-P₂O₅. Four metallic elements, presenting interesting chemical and physiological properties, have been introduced in the amorphous matrix. Their chemical reactivity and their cytotoxicity have been evaluated during in vitro assays in simulated body fluid and cell culture media. The introduction of these metallic elements influences their thermal characteristics, the glass matrix dissolution, the kinetic and the crystallization of the hydroxyapatite layer. A good cells proliferation have been showed. In parallel, a method of synthesis of a glass-ceramic, having a microporosity, have been developed by reaction between TiN and ZnO. In vitro assays have showed a bioactive character after 60 days of immersion and a non-cytotoxicity. This biomaterial was implanted in the femoral dyaphisis of rabbits. Different structural studies have showed the gradual resorption of the biomaterial up to 6 months of implantation. Finally, scaffolds chitosan/bioactive glass, obtained by freeze-drying, have also been studied during in vitro assays. They were used as support for the vectorization of gentamicin. The obtained results show that the content of chitosan and bioactive glass have an impact on the crystallization of hydroxyapatite et the release of drug. Mathematic models show that the relaxation time depend on the starting concentration of gentamicin., Ce travail de thèse concerne les verres bioactifs purs et dopés pour des applications en tant que biomatériaux en site osseux. Ils sont synthétisés par fusion dans le système SiO₂-CaO-Na₂O-P₂O₅. Quatre éléments métalliques (Zn, Ti, Cu et Ag), présentant des caractéristiques chimiques et physiologiques intéressantes, ont été introduits dans la matrice vitreuse. Leur réactivité chimique et leur cytotoxicité ont été évalués lors de tests in vitro. L'introduction de ces éléments métalliques influe sur les caractéristiques thermiques des verres ainsi que sur la dissolution de la matrice vitreuse, la cinétique et la cristallisation de la couche d'hydroxyapatite. Une bonne prolifération cellulaire a été mise en évidence. En parallèle, une méthode de synthèse d'une vitrocéramique, présentant une microporosité, a été développée par réaction entre TiN et ZnO. Des essais in vitro ont montré un caractère bioactif après 60 jours d'immersion et une absence de cytotoxicité. Ce biomatériau a ensuite été implanté au niveau de la diaphyse fémorale de lapins. Différentes études structurales ont montré la résorption progressive du biomatériau jusqu'à 6 mois d'implantation. Des scaffolds chitosan / verre bioactif ont également été synthétisés et obtenus par lyophilisation. Ils ont été étudiés lors d'essais in vitro. Ils ont servi de support pour la vectorisation de gentamicine. Les résultats obtenus montrent que les teneurs en chitosan et en verre bioactif ont une influence sur la cristallisation de l'hydroxyapatite et le relargage du médicament. Les modèles mathématiques établis montrent que le temps de relaxation des scaffolds dépend de la concentration de départ en gentamicine.

International audience; In spite of the usefulness of concepts related to reactivity, finding of a universally applicable recipe is hampered by the very nature of the problem, reactants behave differently under the influence of different reactants. Key elements in producing this diversity are degeneracy, and the irrelevance of asymptotic behavior for understanding equilibrium points on the potential energy surface. Simple examples are given to illustrate it.

This PhD thesis contributed to better understand the mechanisms involved at the bitumen emulsion/mineral substrate interface with the aim of controlling the manufacture of bitumen emulsion cold mixtures. The first step of this work was to propose and to implement the pavement design of bitumen emulsion cold-mix wearing courses. After a parametric study involving the emulsion, the mineral components (aggregates and/or Reclaimed Asphalt Pavements) and the mix (residual binder content, total water content), cold mixtures were manufactured in laboratory and in worksite in order to stress the impact of scaling on the mixture properties. The mechanical characteristics of the mixtures were quite satisfactory. Meanwhile, the results pointed out the importance of adopting a more rigorous method to identify the bitumen emulsion/mineral substrate interface. The second step of this work was to study this interface at three levels. The first level concerns the analysis of the mineral substrate in contact with the acid from the emulsion using rise in pH tests and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). These trials allowed showing discrepancies in chemical reactivity due to the petrographic nature of the mineral substrate and quantifying the ion release in aqueous solution. The second level is focused on the characterisation of the interactions between emulsifier and aggregates usingelectrophoretic mobility studies. The results showed the emulsifier coverage onto the substrate and differences in substrate coverage as a function of the emulsifier type. The third level is dedicated to the characterisation of the bitumen emulsion wetting and adhesion onto the substrate using sessile drop tests. The experiments performed underlined the influence of the surface state of the substrate on wetting, but do not show clearly the effect of the nature of the emulsion on wetting. Finally, empirical tests used to characterise emulsion breaking, coating and adhesivity have been compared to rise in pH tests, electrophoretic mobility tests, and sessile drop tests.; Cette thèse a contribué à mieux cerner les mécanismes à l'interface émulsion de bitume/substrat en vue de maîtriser la fabrication d'enrobés à l'émulsion. La première étape de ce travail a consisté à proposer et à mettre en oeuvre une méthode de formulation de Bétons Bitumineux à l'Emulsion, utilisés en couche de roulement. Après une étude paramétrique sur l'émulsion, les constituants minéraux (granulats et/ou agrégats d'enrobés) et le mélange (teneurs en liant résiduel et eau totale), des matériaux à l'émulsion ont été fabriqués en laboratoire et sur site réel, notamment afin de rendre compte de l'influence du changement d'échelle. Les propriétés mécaniques des matériaux fabriqués ont été très satisfaisantes. Néanmoins, les résultats ont souligné l'intérêt d'adopter une démarche plus scientifique dans la caractérisation de l'interface émulsion de bitume/substrat. La seconde étape du travail a donc été l'étude de cette interface selon trois axes. Le premier axe concerne l'analyse du contact acide de l'émulsion/substrat via des essais de remontée de pH et de spectroscopie d'émission atomique. Ces tests ont permis de montrer des différences de réactivité chimique selon la nature pétrographique du granulat et de quantifier le relargage d'ions en milieu aqueux. Le second axe est focalisé sur la caractérisation de l'interaction émulsifiant/granulats par mesure de mobilité électrophorétique. Les résultats ont démontré lerecouvrement d'émulsifiant sur le substrat minéral et une différence du recouvrement en surface selon la nature de l'émulsifiant. Le troisième axe est concentré sur la caractérisation du mouillage et de l'adhésion de l'émulsion sur le substrat au moyen d'essais d'angles de contact. Les essais réalisés ont mis en évidence l'influence de l'état de surface du substrat sur le mouillage, mais ne montrent pas clairement l'effet de la nature de l'émulsion sur ce mouillage. Enfin des essais empiriques de rupture, d'enrobage et d'adhésivité d'émulsion ont pu être comparés aux essais de remontée de pH, de mobilité électrophorétique et d'angles de contact.

Finally, empirical tests used to characterise emulsion breaking, coating and adhesivity have been compared to rise in pH tests, electrophoretic mobility tests, and sessile drop tests., Cette thèse a contribué à mieux cerner les mécanismes à l'interface émulsion de bitume/substrat en vue de maîtriser la fabrication d'enrobés à l'émulsion. La première étape de ce travail a consisté à proposer et à mettre en oeuvre une méthode de formulation de Bétons Bitumineux à l'Emulsion, utilisés en couche de roulement. Après une étude paramétrique sur l'émulsion, les constituants minéraux (granulats et/ou agrégats d'enrobés) et le mélange (teneurs en liant résiduel et eau totale), des matériaux à l'émulsion ont été fabriqués en laboratoire et sur site réel, notamment afin de rendre compte de l'influence du changement d'échelle. Les propriétés mécaniques des matériaux fabriqués ont été très satisfaisantes. Néanmoins, les résultats ont souligné l'intérêt d'adopter une démarche plus scientifique dans la caractérisation de l'interface émulsion de bitume/substrat. La seconde étape du travail a donc été l'étude de cette interface selon trois axes. Le premier axe concerne l'analyse du contact acide de l'émulsion/substrat via des essais de remontée de pH et de spectroscopie d'émission atomique. Ces tests ont permis de montrer des différences de réactivité chimique selon la nature pétrographique du granulat et de quantifier le relargage d'ions en milieu aqueux. Le second axe est focalisé sur la caractérisation de l'interaction émulsifiant/granulats par mesure de mobilité électrophorétique. Les résultats ont démontré lerecouvrement d'émulsifiant sur le substrat minéral et une différence du recouvrement en surface selon la nature de l'émulsifiant. Le troisième axe est concentré sur la caractérisation du mouillage et de l'adhésion de l'émulsion sur le substrat au moyen d'essais d'angles de contact. Les essais réalisés ont mis en évidence l'influence de l'état de surface du substrat sur le mouillage, mais ne montrent pas clairement l'effet de la nature de l'émulsion sur ce mouillage. Enfin des essais empiriques de rupture, d'enrobage et d'adhésivité d'émulsion ont pu être comparés aux essais de remontée de pH, de mobilité électrophorétique et d'angles de contact.

Methods to monitor and quantify the chemical reactivity of surfaces at micrometer scale are developed in an optical label-free detector owing to changes in refractive index. The principle is based on the coupling between imaging techniques, optical microscopies, and micro-electrochemical techniques to study and map in real time and in situ interfacial (electro-) chemical processes. The potential of these techniques is evidenced on the mechanistic inspection of a model system: the electrochemical grafting of thin organic films on surfaces by reduction of diazonium salts. The local (bio) chemical reactivity is examined ex situ and in situ on different gold surfaces: microelectrodes or macroelectrodes patterned either by micro contact printing or by lithography. It provides an interesting route to the inspection of the chemical reactivity of various immobilized molecules towards electrogenerated radicals. Such opto-electrochemical microscopies show that microlithography alters the reactivity of surfaces and should be handled with care when surface chemistry reaction is sought. Finally, an analytical method based on electrochemical microscopy (SECM) allows detecting mechanical movements of a cantilever platform due to change in surface tension., L'objectif est de développer des méthodes permettant de suivre et de quantifier la réactivité chimique de surface à l'échelle micrométrique. Nous proposons une approche optique qui utilise une détection sans marquage basée sur un changement d'indice de réfraction. Le principe repose sur le couplage entre techniques d'imagerie, de microscopie optique et de micro-électrochimie pour étudier et cartographier en temps réel et in situ des processus (électro)chimiques interfaciaux. Les potentialités de ces techniques sont mises en évidence sur un système modèle : l'électrogreffage de films minces organiques sur des surfaces par réduction de sels de diazonium. La réactivité (bio)chimique est étudiée ex situ et in situ sur différentes surfaces d'or : des microélectrodes ou des macroélectrodes décorées par impression par microcontact ou par lithographie. La méthode est intéressante pour examiner la réactivité chimique de diverses molécules immobilisées vis-à-vis de radicaux électrogénérés. Ces microscopies opto-électrochimiques montrent que la microlithographie modifie la réactivité de surface et qu'elle doit donc être réalisée soigneusement quand on cherche à déterminer la réactivité de la surface. Finalement, ces travaux sont appliqués au développement d'une méthode analytique par microscopie électrochimique (SECM) pour détecter des mouvements mécaniques de microleviers suite à un changement de tension de surface.

The unique properties of supercritical fluids (SCFs) have been widely used since the 1980’sin a wide range of applications including separation, chemistry and materials synthesis.Currently, the research activities are focused toward a better understanding and tailoring ofthermodynamical, physical and chemical phenomena involved in SCFs processes. In thiscontext, this is why we have chosen to develop supercritical microfluidics in the frame of thisPhD work, which aims at developing and using microfluidic tools in order to study the chemicalreactivity and the nucleation-growth in supercritical fluids.First of all, our strategy aimed at fabricating microsystems which could handle to the SCFsoperating conditions (high pressure and high temperature). Then, we have studied somephysical characteristics of these devices and in particular we determined the expectedadvantages associated with the combination of microfluidic tools and supercritical fluids.Afterwards, we have demonstrated the benefits of the supercritical microfluidics to materialssynthesis and chemical reactivity through the hydrothermal oxidation of methanol and thesynthesis of ZnO nanocrystals. This last point was also the subject of a photoluminescencestudy, demonstrating that supercritical microfluidics tools can be used as “precision synthesis”reactors.; Les propriétés spécifiques des milieux fluides supercritiques sont exploitées depuis denombreuses années dans les domaines de la séparation, de la chimie et des matériaux.Aujourd’hui, les activités de recherche se focalisent vers une meilleure compréhension et unmeilleur contrôle des processus thermodynamiques, physiques et chimiques mis en jeu, ce quinous a naturellement amené à développer la microfluidique supercritique. Les propriétés de photoluminescence de cesnanocristaux de ZnO ont été caractérisées; nous avons montré que l’outil microfluidiquesupercritique permet de synthétiser des nanocristaux de ZnO avec une luminescenceexcitonique.

International audience; The phase transformation kinetics on cooling and resulting microstructures of steel-based matrix composites (MMC) reinforced with TiC particles by powder metallurgy were studied. In addition, the phase transformation kinetics of the MMC were compared to those of the same steel without TiC and consolidated in the same conditions. The presence of TiC particles strongly favors the diffusive transformations in the steel matrix of the MMC. Different complementary techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM/EDX, atom probe tomography, in situ synchrotron XRD) were performed to analyze the chemical reactivity between TiC particles and the steel powders occurring during consolidation process and further heat treatments. Composition changes in the TiC as well as in the matrix were characterized. The chemical composition after treatment in the TiC particles tends toward the thermodynamic calculations with ThermoCalc. The effect of changes in chemical composition and the role of TiC particles acting as new favorable nucleation sites are discussed in regards to the obtained results.

International audience; Methyl substituted seven-membered ring carbonates (7CCs), namely, 4-methyl- and 5-methyl-1,3-dioxepan-2-one (α-Me7CC and β-Me7CC), have been synthesized in high yields (up to 70%) upon cyclization of the corresponding α,ω-diols issued from green renewable acids. ("Immortal") ring-opening polymerization of these monomers has been carried out using various catalysts combined with an alcohol acting as a co-initiator and a chain transfer agent. The Lewis acid Al(OTf)3, the organometallic complexes [(BDIiPr)Zn(N(SiMe3)2)] ((BDIiPr) = 2-((2,6-diisopropylphenyl)amido)-4-((2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-imino)-2-pentene] and [(ONOOrBu)Y(N(SiHMe2)2)(THF)] (ONOOtBu = amino-alkoxy-bis(phenolate)) or the organic 4-N,N-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP), 1.5.7-triazabicyclo-[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (TBD) or 2-tert-butylimino-2-diethylamino-1,3-dimethylperhydro-1,3,2-diazaphosphorine (BEMP) successfully afforded the corresponding poly(α- and β-Me7CC)s with quite good control and activities. The dissymmetry of the monomers raises the question ofcatalyst selectivity in the ring-opening of the 7CCs. Detailed microstructural analyses of the poly(7CC)s using 1H and 13C NMR and MALDI-ToF-MS techniques revealed (1) the higher regioselectivity with preferential ring-opening at the most hindered oxygen-acyl O-C(O)O bond, that is, closest to the α-Me substituent-- of the zinc-based system followed by the yttrium, as compared to the lack ofselectivity of the aluminum one, in the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of α-Me7CC; (2) the absence of regioselectivity in the ROP of β-Me7CC, whichever the catalyst system used, most likely as a result of the OC(O)O further remote substitution site; (3) the expected α-hydroxy, ω-alkoxyester chain ends. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses of these polymers underlined the influence of the position of the methyl substituent on the glass transition temperature. Noteworthy, this study represents the first synthesis of the β-Me7CC monomer and of the resulting polycarbonates.

In this work, three kinds of nucleobase damages were studied from a theoretical point of view with quantum chemistry methods based on the density-functional theory: the spontaneous deamination of cytosine and its derivatives, the formation of tandem lesion induced by hydroxyle radicals in anaerobic medium and the formation of pyrimidic dimers under exposition to an UV radiation. The complementary use of quantitative static methods allowing the exploration of the potential energy surface of a chemical reaction, and of “conceptual DFT” principles, leads to information concerning the mechanisms involved and to the rationalisation of the differences in the nucleobases reactivity towards the formation of a same kind of damage.At the same time, a reflexion was undertaken on the asynchronous concerted mechanism concept, in terms of physical meaning of the transition state, respect of the Maximum Hardness Principle, and determination of the number of primitive processes involved. Finally, a new local reactivity index was developed, relevant to understand the reactivity of a molecular system in an excited state.; Dans ce travail, trois types de lésions des bases de l'ADN ont été étudiés d'un point de vue théorique à l'aide de méthodes de chimie quantique basées sur la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité : la désamination spontanée de la cytosine et de ses dérivés, la formation de lésions tandem induites par des radicaux hydroxyles en milieu anaérobie et la formation de dimères de bases pyrimidiques suite à une exposition à un rayonnement ultraviolet. L'utilisation complémentaire de méthodes quantitatives statiques permettant d'explorer en partie les surfaces d'énergie potentielle associées à une réaction chimique et de la « DFT conceptuelle » ont permis d'obtenir des renseignements quant aux mécanismes réactionnels mis en jeu et de rationaliser des différences de réactivité entre bases nucléiques vis-à-vis de la formation d'un même type de lésion. Parallèlement à ces études, une réflexion a été menée concernant le concept de mécanisme concerté asynchrone, en particulier en termes de sens physique de l'état de transition, de respect du principe de dureté maximum, et de détermination du nombre de processus primitifs impliqués. Enfin, un nouvel indice de réactivité locale a été développé, pertinent pour décrire la réactivité de systèmes moléculaires dans un état excité.

International audience; The control of the in vitro and in vivo bioactivity, as well as the chemical reactivity of melt-derived glasses is an important state in the biomaterials field. The present work explores the local structure of bioactive glasses before and after in vitro assays in simulated body fluid. This study by solid-state MAS-NMR constitutes an original approach to the understanding of the bioactivity process.

International audience; Glycerol is a renewable resource, obtained as a co-product of the transesterification of vegetables oils to produce biodiesel. Its conversion to 1,2-propanediol (1,2-PDO) and 1,3- propanediol (1,3- PDO) in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts has been particularly investigated.[1-4] The selective production of 1,3-PDO has appeared to be much more challenging than the one of 1,2-PDO. Indeed, it hasn’t been achieved yet.To the best of our knowledge, no theoretical study on this topic has ever been published. More- over, the mechanisms which take place at the surface are still relatively misunderstood. However, coupling DFT calculations with experimental results could be very powerful to explain the metal influence on the selectivity.Considering previous DFT investigations done in our laboratory, some interesting pieces of infor- mation have been pointed out for the dehydration of glycerol on Ni (111), Rh (111) and Pd(111)[5]. cited By 48; International audience; We have investigated the possible effect of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in the SEI film formation at the surface of a graphite composite electrode of LiCoO2/graphite cells. The electrode/electrolyte interface was analyzed by XPS at different potentials of the first electrochemical cycle, and after simple contact of the electrode with the electrolyte. We could evidence a specific reactivity of CMC towards the electrolyte (LiPF6 in a mixture of carbonate solvents), resulting in the formation of new species that contribute to the surface film composition. This result shows that the chemical reactivity of CMC towards the electrolyte takes part in the formation of the surface film, and contributes to the good properties of CMC as binder. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. This work focuses on synthesis, physico-chemical studies and biological response of pure and doped, and dense or porous, bioactive glasses. Three doping elements (Mg, Zn and Sr) have been introduced separately then together in the glass matrix. The different SiO2-CaO-Na2O-P2O5 glasses, synthesised by melt-derived method, present an amorphous and homogenous structure. Their chemical reactivity has been studied during in vitro assays in simulated body fluid and cell culture media. Bioactivity is demonstrated by the formation of an hydroxyapatite layer on the glass surface. Introduction of doping elements strongly influences the glass matrix dissolution as well as the kinetic of formation and the crystallization of the apatite layer. These results have been obtained thanks to a set of physico-chemical techniques, as XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX or ICP-OES. Non-toxicity and good proliferation of cells have been showed at the glass surface. Moreover, an original structural study by solid-state NMR on the glass bioactivity has demonstrated the formation of two new species of SiO4 tetrahedrons and the emergence of a new component PO43-(HA), characteristic of hydroxyapatite, during in vitro assays. Besides, two phosphosilicates, with a micro and a macroporosity, have been synthesized by reaction between a nitride, like TiN, and the glass oxides. This porosity has been created after the determination of the different thermal parameters required for this phenomenon.; Ce travail concerne l'élaboration, l'étude physico-chimique et l'évaluation biologique de verres bioactifs purs et dopés, sous forme massive ou poreuse. Trois éléments dopants (Mg, Zn et Sr) ont été introduits, séparément puis simultanément, dans la matrice vitreuse. Les différents verres du système SiO2-CaO-Na2O-P2O5, synthétisés par fusion à haute température, présentent une structure amorphe et homogène. Leur réactivité chimique a été évaluée lors de tests in vitro en l'absence puis en présence de cellules. La bioactivité des verres est avérée par la formation d'une couche d'hydroxyapatite à leur surface. L'introduction d'éléments dopants influe fortement sur la dissolution de la matrice vitreuse, ainsi que sur la cinétique de formation et la cristallisation de la couche d'hydroxyapatite. Ces résultats ont été obtenus par un ensemble de techniques de caractérisations, telles que la DRX, l'IR, le MEB-EDX ou l'ICP-OES. La non-cytotoxicité des verres et une bonne prolifération cellulaire à leur surface a également été mise en évidence. En outre, une étude structurale originale sur la bioactivité des verres par RMN du Solide a mis en évidence la formation de deux nouvelles espèces de tétraèdres SiO4 dans le réseau vitreux et l'apparition d'une nouvelle composante PO43-(HA), caractéristique de l'hydroxyapatite, lors des tests in vitro. Par ailleurs, deux phosphosilicates présentant une porosité macro et micrométrique ont été synthétisés par réaction entre un nitrure, tel que TiN, et les oxydes du verre. Cette porosité a été créée après une mise au point des différents paramètres thermiques nécessaires à ce phénomène.

International audience; The grafting of polyamide 6 (PA6) onto polystyrene (PS) can rely on the use of a copolymer of styrene (St) and 3-isopropenyl-α,α-dimethylbenzene isocyanate (TMI), PS-co-TMI, to activate the polymerization of ε-caprolactam (CL) in the presence of sodium ε-caprolactam (NaCL) as an anionic catalyst. This article is aimed at answering the following key questions. First, do all the isocyanate moieties of the PS-co-TMI participate in the activation of the polymerization of CL? Second, what are the composition of the resulting polymer product and the structure of the resulting graft copolymer? The results show that the isocyanate moieties had all participated in the activation of the polymerization, implying that each isocyanate moiety has led to the formation of a PA6 graft. The as-polymerized product was composed of a pure PS-g-PA6 graft copolymer, homo-PA6, and unreacted CL. Moreover, when the composition of a PS-co-TMI/CL/NaCL system was fixed, the mass ratio between the PA6 grafts and PS backbone of the pure PS-g-PA6 graft copolymer was almost a constant and was almost independent of its molar mass.

This thesis concerns the dynamics of molecules where the nuclei and electrons are treated by classical and quantum mechanics, respectively. Both Born-Oppenheimer and Car-Parrinello approaches are discussed, a novel algorithm is presented and validated by considering the good conservation of the total energy. This algorithm is then extended to simulate the canonic ensemble and employed for the determination of spectroscopic characteristics of molecular systems. By means of "blue-moon" ensemble, the free energyu estimation is considered. This approach is used for two chemical reactions and shows the failure of the usual approach which is based on the harmonic approximation. Finally the estimation of zero point energy beyond this approximation is treated.; Ce mémoire traite de la dynamique des molécules envisageant une description classique pour les noyaux et quantique pour la structure électronique. Les approches "Born-Oppenheimer" et "Car-Parrinello" sont discutées et un nouvel algorithme est présenté puis validé de par la bonne conservation de l'énergie totale au cours du temps. Il est ensuiote étendu pour simuler l'ensemble canonique et appliqué à la détermination de caractéristiques spectroscopiques de systèmes moléculaires. L'estimation de quantités, telle l'énergie libre, est considérée à l'aide de la théorie de l'ensemble "blue-moon". Cette méthode est appliquée à deux réactions chimiques, mettant en évidence la mise en défaut de l'approche traditionnelle basée sur l'approximation harmonique. Enfin, l'estimation de l'énergie de point zéro au delà de cette approximation est abordée.

International audience; The modelling of the chemical transformation of powder systems is known to involve nucleation and growth processes, which occur in different zones of the solid particles. When these two processes are in competition, the overall rate depends both of the geometry of the particles, and of the intrinsic reactivity of the powder that can be characterised due to the determination of the surfacic nucleation frequency and reactivity of growth. Several examples are used to illustrate it from the comparison between the experimental kinetic curves and those deduced from models of nucleation and anisotropic or isotropic growth.

Dans cette étude nous proposons une nouvelle méthode d'analyse complète d'un réacteur chimique à plasma hors d'équilibre. Elle est basée sur l'association de l'observation expérimentale de la réactivité chimique, de l'analyse spectroscopique du plasma, les résultats des travaux en physique moléculaire et de la théorie des réactions en milieu hors d'équilibre.

Les plasmas à pression réduite sont des milieux hors d'équilibre complexes, au sein desquels coexistent plusieurs modes d'excitation. La réaction chimique globale a également lieu en plusieurs étapes élémentaires dont les réactifs et les produits sont en général excités. Nous avons établi un modèle du réacteur en trois étapes (excitation, recombinaison à chaud, trempe) qui, appliqué à la décomposition de NH3, permet de dégager le processus (NH3, X) → (NH3, A, B)* → (NH, a 1Δ) comme principale réaction de la décomposition. Nous utilisons également la théorie de la réactivité chimique en milieu hors d'équilibre pour interpréter l'évolution de la réactivité du plasma en fonction de la répartition énergétique sur les différentes espèces. Nous concluons que la décomposition est contrôlée par la température de vibration du plasma. Lorsque le système s'approche de l'équilibre le taux de décomposition diminue.

2014 Advanced technologies, like for instance aerospace or nuclear engineering require the most exhaustive information on the behaviour of materials used at very high temperature such as ceramics, refractory alloys or molten metals. Among high temperature techniques, X-rays and more recently neutron scattering have appeared as powerful tools to get information, mainly structural, on these materials in their working conditions. High temperature devices (above 2 000 K) developed for that purpose, based on various heating techniques (induction, imaging furnaces, lasers, gas-flame heaters and principally Joule heated devices) are reviewed. Some crucial points are particularly emphasized such as : 2014 the determination of the real temperature (thermocouples and optical pyrometry) in the scattering zone hardly accessible partly due to the unavoidable thermal gradients, 2014 the chemical reactivity of the sample with its surrounding, i.e. atmosphere and sample holder. Neutrons, mainly because of their low absorption by matter, allow the work on real bulky materials and give a greater freedom in the conception of high temperature scattering devices compared to X-rays. At the present time thermal neutron high flux reactors offering a wide range of neutron wavelengths are available, and a new generation of more and more efficient multidetectors has emerged in the last decade; the data acquisition and consequently the high temperature exposure time have been notably reduced, opening a way for precise and reliable experiments in the 3 000 K range. This very high temperature domain already studied by a few other techniques can also be investigated by neutron scattering. Revue Phys. NH 3 decomposition has been studied in a tubular reactor under low pressure plasma conditions. The key parameters for this transformation are, besides the electron density and kinetic energy, the vibrational excitation and the residence time. The catalytic effect of titanium on the NH 3 decomposition has been correlated to the formation of a boundary layer characterized by a strong vibrational excitation. This gives evidence for particular energetic transfers between the gaseous phase and the substrate, responsible for an increase of the chemical reactivity in that zone La decomposition de l'ammoniac a ete etudiee dans un reacteur tubulaire sous plasma basse pression. Les parametres cles de la transformation sont, outre la densite electronique et l'energie cinetique des electrons, l'excitation vibrationnelle du plasma et le temps de sejour des especes. L'effet catalytique du titane sur la decomposition de NH 3 a pu etre correle a la formation d'une couche limite a l'interface plasma-substrat, caracterisee par une forte excitation vibrationnelle
