This article examines the prognostic significance of Crooke cell adenomas (CCA), a rare subtype of corticotroph pituitary neuroendocrine tumor (PitNET)/adenoma. The study compares CCAs to non-CCA corticotroph PitNET/adenomas in terms of time-to-recurrence (TTR). The results show that while CCAs are associated with larger tumors and cavernous sinus invasion, they do not demonstrate a higher likelihood of recurrence when controlling for other known prognostic factors. The study suggests further investigation into whether CCAs have higher recurrence rates due to their aggressive phenotype or their propensity to invade the cavernous sinus.
