An essay is presented on author John Cheever, and the author discusses Cheever's journal in which he confessed to sexual intercourse with men. Cheever's secrecy, his opinions on romantic and erotic love, and his family are discussed, as well as the social aspects of homosexuality in the U.S. in the 1960s. Cheever's relationship with artist Ned Rorem at the Yaddo artists colony in New York is described, as well as his novel "Falconer."
