Objective: Breast cancer is a type of cancer that originates in breast tissue cells. It is the most common cancer type in the world after lung cancer. The prognosis of the disease mostly depends on the type and stage of cancer. One of the worst prognoses is seen in a specific type called Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), which represents not having any of the three most recognized receptors, namely estrogen, progesterone, and c-erb2 receptors. Our objective was to determine the difference in overall and disease-free survival for breast cancer types categorized by receptor status. Methods: This is a retrospective matched case-control study with breast cancer patients of two types. A total of 102 patients were divided equally into having TNBC of 51 patients in one arm and triple-positive breast cancer (TPBC) of 51 patients in the other arm. Analyses were run for disease prognostic values and patients' demographic values. Results: Disease free survival were 63±10.6 months and 93.2±4.9 months in the fifth year for the TNBC and TPBC groups, respectively. (p=0.004) Overall survival was significantly different as 73.9±7.3 months for TNBC and 97.7±2.3 months for TPBC (p=0.002). Conclusion: TNBC prognosis is worse than that of other breast cancer types. The most important reason is being unable to use hormonal treatment because of the receptor status, and a disease-specific targeted treatment could not have been developed so far. Objective: Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent cancer among women. Many BC patients suffer from sleep problems, which have a negative impact on their quality of life (QoL). Our study aims to investigate sleep problems in BC patients treated with active chemotherapy or in remission in comparison with a healthy control group (HCG), given the importance of sleep disorders and QoL. Materials and Methods: A multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted. Four different surveys including sociodemographic characteristics questionnaire, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), hospital anxiety and depression scale and The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer core quality of life questionnaire (QLQ-C30) were used to collect study parameters. Results: Of 164 participants, the mean age was 42.0±11.7 years. Overall PSQI median score for all participants was 6 points (range, 3-9 points). PSQI median value was higher in cancer patients compared to the control group, which were 6 points (range, 4-9 points), and 4 points (range, 3-7 points), respectively (p=0.004). The mean depression score was 5 points (range, 3-8 points) in BC patients, and 4 points (range, 2-6 points) in HCGs, respectively (p=0.025). Having BC diagnosis was an independent factor increasing the risk of bad sleep quality in compared to healthy controls (odds ratio: 2.568, 95% confidence interval: 1.169-5.645; p=0.019). Conclusion: There was a close association between poor sleep quality, depression and QoL scores in patients with BC. Tc-99m methylene diphosphonate (MDP) is a bone imaging agent used for skeletal staging, but it can also be localized in extraosseous calcifying lesions. We report a case of an 84-year-old woman with breast carcinoma who underwent surgery followed by radiotherapy 10 years ago and now presented with a right axillary mass referred for Tc-99m MDP to exclude bone metastasis. Tc-99m MDP shows intense tracer uptake in the right thoracic region corresponding to the site of calcified soft tissue mass in the right lateral chest wall. Subsequent ultrasonography revealed an ill-defined lesion containing coarse calcifications. Biopsy showed radiation-induced sarcoma. Objective: Autoimmune diseases (ADs) are observed more frequently in patients with breast cancer (BC) compared to healthy population. However, the frequency of ADs in their relatives has not been studied. In the present study, we aimed to compare the frequency of ADs among the first-degree and other relatives of patients with BC with healthy controls. Methods: We included 100 women aged 18 years and older who were followed up with the diagnosis of BC in our oncology clinic, and randomly selected female employees aged 18 and over in our hospital as the control group. The frequencies of ADs among relatives of the two groups were investigated using a detailed questionnaire. Results: Frequency of having at least one relative with AD was 76% in the BC group and 36% in the control group (p<0.001). The frequency of ADs in the relatives of the BC group was 5.5 times higher than in the relatives of the control group. In detailed analyzes, when the degree of kinship was considered, it was found that the risk increased to 11.5 times in the first-degree relatives of BC patients; however, no increased risk was found among more distant relatives. Conclusion: In our study, we found more ADs among the first-degree relatives of patients with BC compared to the control group. Asymmetry and postural changes can be triggered after breast cancer treatment, which is the most common type of cancer among women. The posture disorders, which can often be ignored can cause different pathologies of the musculoskeletal system. Moreover, these may adversely affect psychology and body image. Cancer patients are a most sensitive group though cancer treatments have many side effects such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. One of the most common side effects is postural changes which needs to be assessed carefully and detailly in all individuals. There are several studies on postural changes in breast cancer survivors in the literature; thus, various postural evaluations and different treatment methods have been used. However, there is no consensus on the gold standard evaluation method or a comparison study of the reliability of the methods in this patient group. The aim of this narrative review is to contribute to the literature while discussing which method could be preferred by summarizing the methods of postural assessment used for breast cancer. In accordance with this purpose, comprehensive searches were made using different keywords in different electronic databases such as PUBMED, Google Scholar, and EBSCO. As a result of the search, evaluation and treatment studies using different evaluation methods for posture in breast cancer were determined and examined. In our study, the advantages and disadvantages of all these methods are summarized in order to contribute to clinical practice of this subject, owing to the fact that there are limited data in the literature. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the types of distant metastatic spread, histopathological features, and imaging features of primary tumor on positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) for primary staging in newly diagnosed breast invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) patients. Methods: Data from 289 female patients were retrospectively evaluated. Maximum standardized uptake value, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (ADCmin) values of primary tumors were obtained from PET/MRI. The patients were grouped as non-metastatic, oligometastatic (1-5 metastatic lesions) and multimetastatic (>5 metastatic lesions) disease according to the number of distant metastases, and divided into two groups as isolated bone metastasis (IBM) and mixed/soft tissue metastasis (M-SM) groups according to the sites of metastatic spread. Results: Metabolic parameters had higher values and ADCmin had lower values in the multimetastatic and oligometastatic groups than in the non-metastatic group. MTV was the only parameter that showed significant difference between the multimetastatic and oligometastatic groups. MTV and TLG were significantly higher in the M-SM group than in the IBM group. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET parameters had significantly higher values in grade 3, hormone receptor negative, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive, triple negative, and highly proliferative (Ki-67 ≥14%) tumors. The prediction models that included imaging parameters to predict the presence of distant metastasis had higher discriminatory powers than the prediction models that included only histopathological parameters. Conclusion: Primary tumors with higher metabolic-glycolytic activity and higher cellularity were more aggressive and had higher metastatic potential in breast IDC. Compared with histopathological parameters alone, the combination of imaging parameters and histopathological features of primary tumors may help to better understand tumor biology and behavior. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between clinical histopathologic features and micropapillary (MP) ratio with the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) derived from 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) in treatment naïve breast cancer. Methods: Twenty-nine patients diagnosed with breast cancer with a MP component who underwent PET/CT imaging before any local and/or systemic treatment were included in this retrospective study. All clinical histopathological features were recorded. SUVmax values were measured from 18F-FDG PET images for primary tumors and metastatic axillary lymph nodes. Results: MP component percentage did not correlate with any clinical histopathological features except age. At early ages, the MP component ratio was significantly higher. Our results showed that there is no significant correlation between the SUVmax value and MP component percentage. Conclusion: A high SUVmax value is generally expected in aggressive malignancies. However, this assumption may not be valid for the MP subgroup, which has an aggressive course compared to other subgroups in breast cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sleep, which is among the basic human needs necessary for a healthy life, is an indispensable need that affects the quality of life. Individuals face sleep problems when sleep duration, quality and regularity are disrupted. In individuals undergoing breast cancer surgery, sleep patterns are disrupted and sleep quality decreases after surgical intervention. In this direction, nurses have great responsibilities in the management of sleep quality and in ensuring the quality sleep process. Evidence-based practices in the care of patients undergoing breast cancer surgery positively affect sleep quality. As a result of the literature review, it is seen that the number of studies examining the factors affecting the sleep quality of patients undergoing breast cancer surgery and evaluating nursing care is insufficient. The aim of this review is to examine the factors affecting the sleep quality of patients after breast cancer surgery in line with the literature and to include nursing interventions applied in this direction. A 42-year-old female patient diagnosed with invasive ductal breast ca underwent 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan for staging, 1.5 cm diameter hypermetabolic lesion was observed in the lower inner quadrant of the right breast that was compatible with primary tumor [maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax): 10.5]. No pathological 18F-FDG uptake was observed in lymph nodes whose fatty hilum was seen in the right axilla. However, in the left axilla and left deep axilla, hypermetabolic lymph nodes with a maksimum diameter of 19 mm and fatty hilum were observed (SUVmax: 8.0). In a detailed CT evaluation, these lymph nodes have thicker walls than the ones in the right axilla. The patient was questioned again and coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccination history (with BNT162b2, COVID-19 mRNA vaccine) was determined that was administrated to the left arm 5 days ago. Tru-cut biopsy was performed from the left aksillary lymph nodes and proved to be reactive lymphoid tissue and there was no primary or metastatic tumor in these axillary lymph node tissues. The patient was given neoadjuvant chemotherapy 4.5 months after the first 18F-FDG PET/CT, and the second was performed for the treatment response evaluation. Significant regression was determined from the findings. The patient underwent right total mastechtomy. She was being followed up with adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In conclusion, hypermetabolic lymph nodes in the axillas should be interrogated for vaccination in patients with breast cancer. Hypermetabolic lymph nodes observed on the same side of the vaccinated arm in the 18F-FDG PET/CT scan may be related to vaccine-induced reactive lymph node enlargement. Lymph node metastasis may be excluded, especially if there are hypermetabolic lymph nodes with preserved fatty hilum in the contralateral axilla on the same side as the vaccinated arm. Objectives: This prospective study was planned to compare the predictive value of dynamic 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in locally advanced breast cancer patients (LABC) receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Methods: Twenty seven patients with LABC [median age: 47, (26-66)] underwent a dynamic 18F-FDG PET study at baseline, and after 2-3 cycles of (NAC) were included (interim). Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) values and SUV ratios for the 2nd, 5th, 10th, and 30th minutes and dynamic curve slope (SL) values and SL ratios were measured using 18F-FDG dynamic data. In addition, the values of SUVmean (2minSUVmean), SULpeak (2minSULpeak), metabolic volume (2minVol), and total lesion glycolysis (2minTLG) were measured for the first 2 min. Percent changes between baseline and interim studies were calculated and compared with the pathological results as the pathological complete response (PCR) or the pathological non-complete response (non-PCR). Receiver operating characteristic curves were obtained to calculate the area under the curve to predict PCR. Optimal threshold values were calculated to discriminate between PCR and non-PCR groups. Results: Baseline study SUV 30 (p=0.044), SUV 30/2 (p=0.041), SUV 30/5 (p=0.049), SUV 30/10 (p=0.021), SL 30/2 (p=0.029) and SL 30/5 (p=0.027) values were statistically significant different between PCR and non-PCR groups. The percentage changes of 2minVol between PCR and non-PCR groups were statistically significant. For the threshold value of -67.6% change in 2minVol, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy were 87.2%, 77.8%, 63.6%, 93.3%, and 80.7%, respectively (area under the curve: 0.826, p=0.009). Conclusion: Semiquantitative parameters for dynamic 18F-FDG PET can predict PCR. % changes in 2minVol can identify non-responding patients better than other parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is an inflammatory breast disease that is often challenging to differentiate from malignancy. This study investigated the role of diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance imaging in differentiating IGM from malignant breast lesions. Methods: This retrospective study included 82 female patients with IGM [with a mean age of 33.48 years, minimum (min): 22 - maximum (max): 58 years] and 85 female patients with breast cancer (with a mean age of 48.14 years, min: 31 - max: 79 years). The diagnoses of all patients were confirmed by biopsy, including 114 IGM lesions and 115 malignant lesions in the analysis. DW sequences were acquired with b-values of 0 and 1000 mm²/sec on a 1.5 T device. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of the lesions were measured manually by placing multiple regions of interest of 50-100 mm² in the target lesions and contralateral normal parenchyma. Results: The ADC values of both IGM (1.119±0.454x10-3 mm²/s) and malignant lesions (1066±0.610x10-3 mm²/s) were lower than those of normal parenchyma. The ADC values of the mastitis group were significantly higher than the ADC values of the carcinoma group (p=0.00). The inter-observer (r=0.627) and intra-observer (r=0.775) agreement of ADC measurements were strong. Objective: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) plays a major role in the treatment of patients with locally advanced breast carcinoma. Although most patients have benefited from NACT, the rate of residual tumors is still high after treatment (AT). An increase in apoptosis is expected in trucut biopsy (TCB) during treatment or AT as the mechanism of NACT is inducing apoptosis. This study aimed to investigate whether evaluating the apoptotic index (AI) from TCB can predict the response before treatment (TC-BT) and whether there is a correlation between AI and clinicopathologic parameters. Methods: Seventy cases of breast carcinomas were included. The AI was evaluated BT and AT by quantifying the apoptosis. The receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed with overall survival (OS) data, and low and high AI cut-offs were obtained. The relationship between AI and response and clinicopathological parameters was evaluated. Results: A significant relationship was found between low AI in TC-BT and at least partial response (p=0.025), longer OS (p=0.01) and disease-free survival (p=0.01), and progesterone receptor-positive tumors (p=0.03). Her2-negative tumors were more prone to low AI. A significant decline in AI (p=0.001) and Ki67 proliferation index (p<0.001) was observed in resections AT. Conclusions: These data suggested that the AI is a simple and costeffective tool that may play an important role in determining response, and a low AI in TC-BT may have some value as a predictive marker in breast carcinomas. Objective: Breast cancer (BC) remains to be one of the most diagnosed cancer types among women around the world. Drug repurposing is suggested to be a convenient alternative for drug development in cancer treatment. Ivermectin, the antiparasitic agent produced by the bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis, is currently being examined thoroughly in oncology and has begun to be seen as a potential drug candidate for BC therapy. However, studies are limited, and the exact anti-tumorigenic mechanism is not yet clarified in breast cancer. Methods: For elucidating the molecular mechanisms of Ivermectin's potential anticancer effects, we have examined its in vitro effects on BC cells in terms of cell viability, intracellular ROS levels, glutathione levels, mitochondrial membrane potential, apoptosis, and DNA damage. Results: Ivermectin induces apoptosis via oxidative stress and DNA damage in BC cells. Conclusion: The in vitro mechanistic studies of promising anticancer agents for repurposing are essential guides for drug developers. The succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) enzyme complex localises to the inner side of the mitochondrial membrane and participate both in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. SDHB is one of the four subunits of SDH and germline mutations in the gene encoding the SDHB have an important role in the development of familial pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PCC/PGL). In this report, we describe a novel germline SDHB c.676_677del mutation in a family responsible for breast cancer, thyroid cancer and bladder cancer without the presence of the main feature, PCC/PGL. The use of whole exome sequencing helped us clarify the genetic cause of this family presenting with non-classic manifestations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Since breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common cancer types among women, it is very important for nurses to assess symptom-management and self-efficacy of patients during chemotherapy treatment. This study was carried out to examine the validity and reliability of the symptom-management self-efficacy scale for BC related to chemotherapy. Methods: The study sample of this methodological research consisted of 248 women receiving chemotherapy treatment due to breast cancer in a public hospital in İstanbul between November 2017 ans March 2018. Translation-back translation method was used to assess the language validity of the scale. Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin and Bartlett's tests were applied to evaluate the sampling adequacy and the suitability of the data for factor analysis. Results: The content validity of the Turkish form was 0.912; Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.905. The factor loads of all the items belonging to the scale were above 0.40, and explained variance for the scale was as follows; 16,284 for the problem-solving sub-dimension; 13,517 for the sub-dimension of managing problems in emotional and interpersonal relationships, and total explained variance of the scale was found to be 46,944. For this reason, no items were removed from the scale and the scale was accepted as having 3 sub-dimensions as it was in the original. Conclusion: Findings obtained from this study showed that the Turkish version of the scale was valid and reliable and could be used in research and clinical practice in Turkey. Objective: Since first-degree female relatives (FDFRs) of women with breast cancer (BC) also have a high risk of developing BC, providing them information and support is important and this should not be overlooked. The purpose of the study is to determine the needs of primary relatives of women with BC in Turkey for information and support. Methods: This article is a descriptive research. A total of 199 volunteer relatives of patients with BC were reached and interviewed by nurses in a university hospital's oncology clinic. They completed the Information and Support Needs Questionnaire. Parametric, non parametric, and multiple regression tests were used in statistical analysis. Results: In the study, a statistically significant difference was observed between the information and support needs and demographics of FDFRs (p<0.05). The rate of information need was higher among those who had a risk of BC and who practiced protective behaviors regularly. And also the rate of unmet support need was higher among those who had a risk of BC and who did not practice protective behaviors (p<0.05). The need for information and support is increasing in the FDFRs of women with BC whose diagnosis time prolonged. Conclusion: This study showed that FDFRs of patients with BC needed information and psychosocial support. Nurses should have an important role in communicating with relatives of patients with BC. Meningiomas constitute 37% of primary central nervous system tumors and are more common in women. Also may occur with other primary malignancies, which can cause confusion with the metastasis in whole body bone scan (WBBS) imaging. A 58-year-old woman diagnosed with breast cancer was referred to the WBBS for the investigation of possible bone metastases. In the planar images, radiotracer uptake at multiple sites was detected on the anterior side of the skull base and the posterior side of the vertex of the cranium. Single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography was performed for anatomical localization of possible metastatic lesions, and it revealed that detected accumulations of radiotracer did not belong to the bone metastases; uptakes were located at the cerebral parenchyma and the lesions in the falx cerebri. Patient history explained that she had been diagnosed with meningioma five years ago, which mimicked bone metastases in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To predict breast cancer molecular subtypes with neural networks based on magnetic resonance imaging apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) radiomics and to detect the relation of lesion size with the stability of radiomics features. Methods: This retrospective study included 221 consecutive patients (224 lesions) with breast cancer imaged between January 2015 and January 2020. Three sample size configurations were identified based on tumor size (experiment 1: all cases, experiment 2: >1 cm³, and experiment 3: >2 cm³). The tumors were segmented by three observers based on diffusion-weighted imaging-registered ADC maps, and the volumetric agreement of these segmentations was evaluated using the Dice coefficient. Stability of radiomics features (n=851) was evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC, >0.75) and coefficient of variation (CoV, <0.15). Feature selection was made with variance inflation factor (VIF, <10) and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression. Outcomes were identified as molecular subtypes (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-enriched, triple-negative). Neural network performance was presented as an area under the curve and accuracies. Results: Of the 851 radiomics features, 611 had ICC >0.75, and 37 remained stable in the first experiment, 49 in the second, and 59 in the third based on CoV and VIF analysis. High accuracy was demonstrated by the Luminal B, HER2-enriched, and triple-negative models in the first experiment (>80%), all models in the second experiment, and HER2-enriched and triple-negative models in the third experiment. Conclusions: A positive stability is indicated by an increased lesion size related to radiomics features. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between pre-treatment nutritional status and pathological complete response (pCR) rates in patients with breast cancer. Methods: The study group consisted of 109 female patients. Clinicopathologic factors, pathological response status, and pre-treatment laboratory values of the patients were recorded retrospectively. CONUT score, consisting of total cholesterol, serum albumin, and total lymphocyte, was calculated to assess the nutritional status. Factors affecting pCR were evaluated, and the relationship between pCR and CONUT was analyzed. Results: The mean age was 49.78±10.92. Thirty-two (29.4%) patients had pCR. The rate of pCR in the hormone-negative group was significantly higher than that in the hormone-positive group (p<0.001). Additionally, the pCR rate in the HER2+ group was significantly higher than that in the HER2- group (p<0.001). Patients with pCR had a significantly higher Ki67 index (p<0.001). There was no significant difference when the pCR rates of patients with high and low CONUT scores were compared. Conclusion: This is the first study evaluating the association between pre-treatment CONUT score and pCR in breast cancer patients. Objectives: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is the frequently used treatment option for locally advanced breast cancer (LABC). This study investigated the potential value of 18fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to estimate the pathological complete response (pCR) using maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and change (SUVmax) after 3-4 cycles of NAC. Additionally, it was established the relationship between PET/CT imaging findings and histopathological features in LABC patients whose treatment response was evaluated with interim PET/CT. Methods: Patients were evaluated with pretreatment and interim PET/CT scans and operated after on NAC. Data on the age of patients, menopausal status, tumor placement, histopathological and molecular subgroups were noted. SUVmax and SUVmax of the primary tumor and axillary lymph node (ALN) were calculated from PET/CT review. Results: Pretherapy mean SUVmax of the primary tumor and ALNs were 8.13±4.25 and 7.22±3.58, respectively. The highest mean primary tumor SUVmax and ALN SUVmax values were observed to be human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positivity (p<0.001). SUVmax-T, SUVmax-N, SUVmax-T, and SUVmax-N values were significantly correlated with the ki-67 index (p<0.001). SUVmax-T and SUVmax-N values of pCR (+) patients were statistically higher than the SUVmax-T and SUVmax-N values of pCR (-) patients (p<0.001). Conclusion: An earlier and more accurate response to NAC can be performed using interim 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the role of preoperative 18fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) radiomics features and metabolic parameters of primary breast tumors in predicting hormone receptor (HR) positivity. Methods: A total of 153 patients with breast carcinoma who underwent preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT were included. All PET/CT images were retrospectively reevaluated. Radiomics features of primary breast lesions reflecting tumor heterogeneity as well as standardized uptake value (SUV) metrics (SUVmin, SUVmean, SUVmax, and SUVpeak) and volumetric parameters such as metabolic tumor volume and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were extracted by commercial texture analysis software package (LIFEx; https://www.lifexsoft.org/index.php). WEKA and SPSS were used for statistical analysis. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine texture features predicting HR positivity. Accuracy, F-measure, precision, recall, and precision-recall curve area were used as data-mining performance criteria of texture features to predict HR positivity. Results: None of the radiomics parameters were significant in predicting HR status. Only SUV metrics and TLG were statistically important. Mean ± standard deviations for SUVmean, SUVmax, and SUVpeak for the HR-negative group were significantly higher than those in the HR-positive group (6.73±4.36 vs. 5.20±3.32, p=0.027; 11.55±7.42 vs. 8.63±5.23, p=0.006; and 8.37±6.81 vs. 5.72±4.86; p=0.012). Cut-off values of SUVmean, SUVmax, and SUVpeak for the prediction of HR positivity were 4.93, 8.35, and 6.02, respectively. Among data-mining methods, logistic regression showed the best performance with accuracy of 0.762. Conclusion: In addition to the relatively limited number of patients in this study, radiomics parameters cannot predict the HR status of primary breast cancer. SUV levels of the HR-negative group were significantly higher than those of the HR-positive group. Objectives: To investigate whether additional imaging in a prone position has any value to the supine whole-body 18fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) images by comparing the visual and quantitative data about a local disease in the breast and axilla for the initial staging of breast cancer (BC). Methods: In this study, a total of 91 female patients with the BC were studied. Both the supine and prone images were examined based on the axial diameter, number and location of the primary tumor, local invasion signs of the tumor, the number of axillary lymph nodes with a suspected metastasis, metabolic parameters of the primary tumor and axillary lymph nodes, and registration artifacts of the PET and CT images were evaluated individually. These findings were compared with the histopathological data obtained after a surgery. Results: In the evaluation of a supine and prone imaging, tumor diameter and metabolic tumor volume (MTV) values of the breast lesions were greater in the supine position than in the prone position. However, there was no significant difference found between the other metabolic parameters of a primary tumor and axilla in both positions. In the supine and prone images, accuracy for skin involvement was 84% and 91.3%, respectively. Conclusion: In our study, we observed that, obtaining additional images in the prone position does not significantly benefit the evaluation of a local disease. The average values of the primary tumor diameter and MTV in the prone position appear to be smaller than the one in the supine position. However, the prone imaging in the patients with a newly diagnosed BC may be beneficial in selected patients and may contribute to preventing the false-positive results especially in patients with a suspected skin involvement. Introduction: We aimed at evaluating the results of radiological [ultrasonography (US), mammography and magnetic resonance (MR)] exams in the follow-up of patients undergoing reduction mammaplasty. Methods: We evaluated the postoperative bilateral breast US and mammography of 21 patients who underwent breast reduction surgery. Breast MR results of 9 patients with suspicious lesions were included in the examination. Results: Postoperative radiological findings from all three imaging modalities were parenchymal distortion, rough calcification, fat cyst, focal fibrosis, fat necrosis, nipple retraction, malignant-like peripheral contrast, nodular lesion, malignant-like distortion and fluid collection with skin thickening. One patient eventually underwent a cyst excision and a tru-cut biopsy presented no malignant lesion was found. Conclusion: Few studies demonstrate the radiological findings in the follow-up of patients following a mammaplasty, thereby prompting this study. After surgery, changes can occur in the breast of the patients that radiologically mimic malignancy. This can lead to unnecessary invasive procedures to rule out malignant changes. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine postoperative pain and anxiety condition of patients undergoing elective breast cancer surgery who recieved preoperative combination of Tramadol and Alprazolam. Methods: One hundred and twenty American Society of Anesthesiologists I-III patients undergoing elective breast surgery were enrolled clinically, randomized, prospectively in the study. Patients separated into Group 1 (Alprazolam 1 mg PO + Tramadol 100 mg PO), Group 2 (Alprazolam 1 mg PO + Tramadol 50 mg PO) and Group 3 (conventional premedication-control group). Alprazolam was given to the patients before the night of the operation. Tramadol was given to the patients before 60 min before the operation. All patients received standard general anesthesia. After extubation, st minute visual analogue scale (VAS) and richmond agitation sedation scale (RASS) values were recorded. In the recovery room, VAS and RASS values were recorded in 20th and 40th minutes and again in 24st hour. For statistical analysis of data, one-way Anova Test, Tukey HSD Test, Tamhane's T2 test were used. Results: In the postoperative period, levels of agitation caused by anxiety were lower in the patients who received preoperative Alprazolam (Group 1-2) than the patients who did not receive Alprazolam (Group 3) (p=0.007). RASS levels were significantly lower in the patients who received preoperative 100 mg Tramadol and 1 mg Alprazolam than the other groups. VAS levels were decreased in time in each group, but there was no difference in VAS levels between groups. Conclusion: We found that the preoperative combination of oral administered 100 mg Tramadol and 1 mg Alprazolam resulted in decreased anxiety in the postoperative period in patients undergoing elective breast cancer surgery. A female patient diagnosed of infiltrative breast carcinoma using tru-cut biopsy underwent 18flourine-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for staging. The tumor was located in the superior external quadrant of the right breast, and did not exhibit pathological uptake in 18F-FDG PET/CT. Later, gallium-68 (68Ga) fibroblast activation protein-specific inhibitor (FAPI)-04 PET/CT imaging was performed and the primary tumor showed intense radiotracer accumulation. This presumes that 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT imaging is superior to 18F-FDG imaging in detecting the primary tumor in breast cancer, thereby suggesting the replacement of FAPI by 18F-FDG in breastcancer staging in the future. Objectives: This study investigates the relationship between 18fluoride-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) parameters and histopathological features in patients with early-stage invasive ductal breast carcinoma (IDBC). Methods: Patients with early-stage IDBC who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT scan for staging were included in this retrospective study. The status of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2, Ki-67 proliferative index, and grades of tumors were recorded. The conventional metabolic parameters [maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) and average standard uptake value] and volume-based parameters [metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis] of the primary tumor were obtained from the 18F-FDG PET/CT images. The associations and correlations between the 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters and histopathological features were assessed. Results: One hundred forty-three patients were included. 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters, other than MTV, were significantly associated with the ER and PR status and Ki-67 index, while T-staging was significantly associated with all 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters. In the axillary lymph node (ALN) involvement, no significant difference was found in the 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters. In terms of the pathological stage, a significant difference was found in all 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters. 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters, other than MTV, were significantly higher in non-luminal breast tumors than luminal tumors and in high-grade tumors than low-grade ones. Triple-negative tumors had the highest 18F-FDG PET/CT parameter, but the difference was insignificant for MTV. The SUVmax had the strongest correlation with Ki-67 proliferative index. Conclusion: Tumors with aggressive histopathological features had higher 18F-FDG PET/CT parameter values. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the prognostic prediction of germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations by comparing the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) obtained from 18fluoride-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT), which is considered a prognostic factor in breast cancer (BC). Methods: Retrospective interdisciplinary laboratory results of 92 patients with BC who had germline BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation profiles and underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT were compared. Genotyping was made by next-generation sequencing, and PET/CT scans were re-evaluated. The histopathological data, genetic results, and clinical demographics of all patients were recorded. Patients were divided into two groups in accordance with the presence of germline BRCA1 and/or BRCA2 mutations. Between-group statistical comparison was performed. Results: In PET/CT performed for primary staging, patients with BRCA-positive BC had significantly higher SUVmax (p=0.039), larger tumor size (p=0.025), and presence of axillary nodal metastases (p=0.023) than patients with BRCA-negative BC. Although the Ki-67 index was higher in the BRCA-positive group than BRCA-negative group, this difference was not significant (p=0.157). Moreover, in the BRCA-positive and negative groups, SUVmax, Ki-67 index, and tumor size, grade, and stage were significantly correlated with each other. Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze the association between soluble endothelial protein C receptor (sEPCR) levels and pathology results in patients with breast mass. Methods: Seventy three patients with breast mass were enrolled. The epidemiologic features and pathology results were recorded. Serum sEPCR levels were analyzed by ELISA. Results: Thirty five patients had breast cancer with sEPCR level of 130.31±89.51 ng/ml and 38 had benign breast lesions with sEPCR level of 116.58±88.68 ng/ml (p>0.05). Upon the patients with breast cancer sEPCR levels were not statistically significant between the early and late stages (134.83±91.89ng/ml and 119.01±86.9 ng/ml, respectively). Also there were no difference in patients with positive and negative Estrogen or progesterone receptors (p>0.05). But sEPCR level was obviously higher in patients with negative HER-2 receptor (149.68±102.43 ng/ml, p=0.029). Conclusions: Although there was no statistically significant difference, the patients with malign breast masses had higher levels of sEPCR. The receptor status was found to influence the serum EPCR levels but broader series of cases are required to understand the clinical importance and to determine its potential effect on targeted treatment plan. Peripheral smear, in which blood cells are evaluated morphologically, is used as a routine in the daily hematology outpatient clinic. This procedure can sometimes play an important role and even save the patient time in the diagnosis. The patient who came to the hematology outpatient clinic with fatigue and underwent bone marrow biopsy because of dacrocyte in his peripheral smear was diagnosed with breast cancer with bone marrow metastasis. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the cytopathological findings of patients who presented to our hospital with spontaneous nipple discharge. A cytological smear examination was performed to evaluate the correlation between cytology and biopsy in patients whose complementary biopsy or excision sampling was performed. Methods: The nipple discharge smears of 121 patients sent to us over six years were retrospectively reviewed. Acellular smears without any cells were considered "insufficient", and smears that contained ductal cells, inflammatory cells, and foamy histiocytes were considered "sufficient". Smears considered sufficient for microscopic evaluation were classified and reported as "benign cytology", "compatible with papillary lesion", "suspicious for malignancy", and "malignant cytology". Results: When the first smear samples of 121 patients were examined, "malignant cytology" was observed in one patient, "suspicious for malignancy" in two patients, "ductal ectasia" in one hundred and two patients, and "papillary lesion" in fourteen patients. The material was "acellular" in two patients. Nineteen patients were histopathologically diagnosed with malignancy (n=7), ductal ectasia (n=6), intraductal papilloma accompanied by florid-type intraductal hyperplasia without atypia (n=2), intraductal papilloma (n=2), complex sclerosing lesion (n=1), and sclerosing papilloma (n=1). Conclusion: In cases where nipple discharge is persistent, repeated smear samples may contribute to the diagnosis if they contain epithelial components. In cases with histopathologically confirmed breast carcinoma, it should be kept in mind that the tumor may often show neuroendocrine features. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. The Ki-67 antigen is a factor used for subgrouping of luminal breast cancer into A and B subtypes. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) is an effective imaging method in the evaluation of patients with locally advanced breast cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and Ki-67 expression levels in primary breast cancer. Methods: Fifty-one female patients (43-83 years, mean: 64.7±9.7 years) diagnosed and operated for breast cancer were included in this retrospective study. 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed for each patient with the purpose of staging. Ki-67 expression levels obtained from pathology data were divided into three groups as <15%, 15-29%, and >30%, and SUVmax values obtained from 18F-FDG PET/CT were compared between the groups. Results: A analysis of Ki-67 expression levels and SUVmax of the primary tumor revealed a moderate and significant correlation between SUVmax and Ki-67 expression levels. Also, a statistically significant relationship was found between SUVmax of the primary tumor in the breast and estrogen receptor positivity and progesterone receptor positivity. Although not statistically significant, the mean SUVmax in triple-positive patients was high. Conclusion: The correlation between SUVmax and Ki-67 expression levels was found to be moderate and statistically significant.
