Production is quality seedlings, for any crop, is critical to the success of production. In this sense, the objective of this study was to evaluate the development of tomato seedlings, Santa Cruz variety, in different types of substrates. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, FAFRAM campus, in the municipality of Ituverava, SP, from December 2017 to January 2018. The design was completely randomized (DIC), with five treatments, with TN Gold commercial substratum, being therefore the following treatments: Substrate + bovine manure; substrate + sand; substrate + washed sand + bovine manure;soil of ravine and control (substrate only) and 40 replicates per treatment. The evaluated characteristics were number of leaves, shoot length, root length, stem diameter and emergence of seedlings. The averages were compared by the TUKEY test, 5% probability by the ESTAT software. The substrate treatment + washed sand + bovine manure presented the best results in all the characteristics.
