Bu tez, hesapsal yöntemler kullanarak i) boron içeren oligotiyofenlerdeki tiyofenin foto-oksidatif bozunma mekanizmalarını ve ii) hipergolik yakıtların yanma tepkimelerini incelemektedir. Çalışmanın birinci kısmında, boron içeren oligotiyofenlerdeki tiyofen ve reaktif oksijen türleri arasındaki tepkimelerin analizi yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada kullanılan reaktif oksijen türleri hidroksil radikali, hidroperoksil radikali, singlet moleküler oksijen (1O2) ve triplet moleküler oksijen (3O2) olarak listelenebilir. Her tepkime için geçiş durumu yapısı tespit edilmiştir. Her tepkime mekanizması için serbest enerji profili çizilmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci kısmında, hipergolik yakıtların yanma tepkimeleri değerlendirilmiştir. Yakıtlar ve nitrik arasında arasında gerçekleşen tepkimeler modellenmiştir. Başlangıç olarak tuz oluşumu çok egzotermiktir ve yanma tepkimeleri için enerji sağlar: H-koparma, β-ayrılma ve N-N2 bağ fisyonu tepkimeleri bu enerji sayesinde gerçekleşmektedir. Tuz oluşumu tepkimelerinin tepkenleri ve ürünleri kapalı çözümlü olarak 298.15°C'de nitrik asitin içinde incelenmiştir. Diğer tepkimelerin geçiş durumu yapıları vakumda 423K'de tespit edilmiştir. Reaksiyon kinetiği analizleri ateşleme gecikmesi sürelerinin arasındaki farka ışık tutmaktadır. This dissertation, employs computational methods to investigate i) the photo-oxidative degradation mechanisms of thiophene in boron-containing oligothiophenes and ii) the ignition reactions of hypergolic propellants.In the first part of this study, reactions betweeen thiophene group of boron-containing oligothiophenes and reactive oxygen species are analyzed. Reactive oxygen species used in this work can be listed as hydroxyl radical, hydroperoxyl radical, singlet molecular oxygen (1O2) and triplet molecular oxygen (3O2). Transition state structure for each reaction has been located. Free energy profile for every reaction mechanism is analyzed.In the second part of this study, the ignition reactions of hypergolic propellants are assessed. The reactions between the fuels and nitric acid are modeled. The initial salt formation is very exothermic and it supplies the energy for the ignition reactions: H-abstraction, β-scission and N-N2 bond fission reactions. Reactants and products of the salt formation reactions are investigated by using the solvation model implicitly at 298.15°C in nitric acid. The transition state structures of the remaining reactions are located in vacuum at 423K. Analysis of their reaction kinetics has shed light to the ignition delay time difference between different fuels. 76

06.03.2018 tarihli ve 30352 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır. Takrin, Alzheimer hastalığının semptomatik tedavisi için ABD tarafından onaylanmış ilk asetilkolinesteraz inhibitörüdür. Asetilkolinesteraz inhibörüne karşı tersinir hareket etmektedir. Fakat takrin belirgin bir şekilde alanin aminotransferaz seviyesini yükselterek hepotoksite oluşturmaktadır ve bu yüzden sınırlı klinik uygulaması bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, 2-aminbenzonitrilin (50) asetik asit içinde brominasyonu ile 2-amin-5-brombenzonitril (258) ve 2-amin-3,5-dibrombenzonitril (257) elde edilmiştir. Takrin türevlerinin bir serisini elde etmek için ara ürün olarak 2-aminbenzonitril sırasıyla 56, 57, 82, 89, 91, 262 no lu halkalı ketonlarla toluen içerisinde Friedlander kondezasyon reaksiyonları gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hedeflediğimiz bu molekülleri elde etmek için Lewis asitleri olarak InCl3, FeCl3, BiCl3, AlCl3 kullanılmıştır. En etkili sonuç InCl3 ile elde edilmiştir. İlk aşamada 6 tane yeni brom türevli takrin analogları (259, 260, 261, 263, 264, 265) sentezlendi. Daha sonra indenokinolin türevlerini elde etmek için 50, 257, 258 moleküleri ile sırasıyla 4-brominadanon, 5-bromindanon ve 6-bromindanon, toluen içerisinde InCl3 katalizörlüğünde Friedlander kondenzasyonu yapıldı. Bu ikinci aşamada ise 9 tane yeni bromlu indenkinolin türevi (279, 281, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288, 289) elde edildi. Son aşamada 9-amin-5,7-dibrom-1,2,3,4-tetrahidroakridin ve 11-amin-2,4-dibrom-7,8,9,10-tetrahidro-6H-siklohepta[b]kinolin ayrı ayrı DMF içerisinde CuCN ile muamelesiyle 266, 267, 271 elde edildi. Bileşik 91 in DMF içerisinde reaksiyon ortamında NaOMe oluşturarak, Cu destekli nüleofilik yerdeğiştirme reaksiyonlarından 275 ve 276 molekülleri elde edildi. 82 ve 91 moleküllerinin elektrofilik yerdeğiştirme reaksiyonları için –78°C'de n-BuLi ile mono ve dilityum takrin analogları hazırlanmıştır. Ayrı ayrı Si(CH3)3Cl, S2(CH3)2 reaktifleriyle muamele edilerek 268, 269, 270, 272, 273, 274 ürünleri sentezlendi. Bu çalışmada 35 tane yeni heterosiklik bileşik olan takrin analoğu sentezlendi. Sentezlenmiş bileşiklerin bütün yapıları FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 2D NMR ve HRMS spektroskopik yöntemleriyle yapıları belirlendi. Tacrine (THA) was the first acetylcholinesterase inhibitor approved in USA for symptomatic treatment of alzheimer's disease. It is a centrally acting reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. However, it exhibits hepatotoxicity by markedly elevating serum alanine aminotransferase levels, and thus has a limited clinical application. Considerable amount of THA derivatives and its analogues were synthesized in this thesis in order to find compounds with reduced side effects. In this study, intermediate product 2-amino-5-bromobenzonitrile (258) and 2-amino-3,5-dibromobenzonitrile (257) were prepared by the reaction of 2-aminobenzonitrile (50) with bromine in acetic acid. Then, different cyclohexanedione analogous (56, 57, 82, 89, 91, 262) reacted with (257) intermediate product, in toluen respectively by condensation reaction with Friedlander reaction to afford a series of novel tacrine derivatives. We have utilized different Lewis acids, InCl3, FeCl3, BiCl3, AlCl3 as catalyst in toluene for the synthesis of target compounds. Six new bromine derivative tacrine analogue synthesized in first part (259, 260,261, 263, 264, 265). Bromine-Indenoqunoline derivatives were synthesized that 4-bromoinadanone, 5-bromoindanone ve 6-bromindanone reacted with 50, 258 and 257 respectively by condensation reaction in the presence of InCl3 catalyst, in toluen with Friedlander reaction. Nine new bromo-indenoqunoline (279, 281, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288, 289) synthesized in second part. Then 9-amine-5,7-dibromo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine and 11-amine-2,4-dibromo-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6H-cyclohepta[b]quinolin DMF wastreated with CuCN and converted to 266, 267, 271. Copper-induced nucleofilic substitution reactions of 11-amine-2,4-dibromo-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6H-cyclohepta[b]quinolin with NaOMe in DMF yielded to 275 ve 276. Dilitium tacrine analogues prepared by the treatment of 82 ve 91 with n-BuLi was treated with [Si(CH3)3Cl, S2(CH3)2] seperately and 268, 269, 270, 272, 273, 274 were obtained. Thirty five new heterocyclic tacrine compounds were synthesized in this thesis study, the structures of all the synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 2D NMR, HRMS spectrum.

Bu çalışmada, 3-(2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-2-il)-4-hidroksifeniletil metakrilat sübstitüe ftalonitril bileşiği (3) ve onun periferal çinko(II) (4), kurşun(II) (5) ve metalsiz ftalosiyanin (6) bileşiklerinin sentezi ve karakterizasyonu ilk kez gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu bileşiklerin yapıları UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, elementel analiz ve kütle spektroskopisi yöntemleriyle karakterize edilmiştir. Sentezlenen ftalosiyanin bileşiklerinin N,N-dimetilformamit (DMF) içerisinde fotodinamik terapi gibi fotokatalitik uygulamalar için fotoduyarlaştırıcı özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla fotofiziksel ve fotokimyasal özellikleri incelenmiştir. Kurşun(II) ftalosiyanin bileşiği yapının merkezinde yer alan kurşun(II) iyonunun büyük çapından dolayı floresans özellik göstermemiştir. Çinko(II) ve metalsiz ftalosiyanin bileşiklerinin floresans kuantum verimleri standart olarak kullanılan sübstitüe olmamış çinko(II) ftalosiyanin bileşiğinden daha yüksek değere sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sübstitüe grupların ve çeşitli merkez metal iyonlarının spektroskopik, fotofiziksel ve fotokimyasal özelliklerine etkisi incelenmiş ve karşılaştırılmıştır. In this study, the synthesis and characterization of 3-(2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-2-yl)-4-hydroxyphenethyl methacrylate (3) substituted novel phthalonitrile compound and its peripherally substituted zinc(II) (4), lead(II) (5) and metal-free phthalocyanine (6) derivatives were performed for the first time. This novel compounds were characterized by obtained data from general spectroscopic methods such as UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, elemental analysis and mass spectroscopy. The photophysical and photochemical properties of these phthalocyanines were investigated in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) solutions for determination of their photosensitizing abilities in photocatalytic applications such as photodynamic therapy. The lead(II) phthalocyanine complex did not produce any fluorescent in DMF because of the heavy atom effect of bigger lead(II) ion. The fluorescence quantum yields of studied zinc(II) and metal-free phthalocyanines were found to quite higher than unsubstituted zinc(II) phthalocyanine due to substitution of the phthalocyanine skeleton. The influence of substituent and variety of the central metal ions on spectroscopic, photophysical and photochemical properties were also determined and compared. 87

Tez (Doktora) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2015, Thesis (PhD) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2015, Işıkla başlatılmış tepkimeler akademik, ticari, finansal ve ekolojik bir çok beklentiyi karşıladığı için son dönemde yeniden ilgi odağı olmuştur. Polimer sentezi alanında, bu konu üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar daha çok fotopolimerizasyon üzerinde yoğunlaşmıştır. Fotopolimerizasyon, ışık enerjisi yardımı ile bir monomeri bir polimere dönüştüren sürecin adıdır. Monomerler tek başına uygun frekansa sahip ışığa maruz bırakıldıklarında dahi polimerlere dönüştürülebilir. Bununla birlikte bu süreç genellikle düşük verimle sonuçlanır ve etkinliği arttırmak için neredeyse her zaman bir katkı maddesi gereklidir. Bu katkı maddesi, ışığı absorbe ederek parçalanan ve polimerizasyonun başlaması için gerekli olan reaktif türleri oluşturan fotobaşlatıcılardır. Hem serbest radikal hem de katyonik polimerizasyon türlerinin kendine özgü avantajları vardır. Araştırmacılar her iki polimerizasyon türüne yönelik fotobaşlatıcı sistenmlerin keşfi için çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir. Bu çalışmaların yapılıyor olmasının belki de en büyük sebebi, her endüstriyel uygulamaya uygun tek bir mükemmel fotobaşlatıcının var olmamasıdır. Gelişmiş absorpsiyon karakterli, çözünebilir, kokusuz, film içerisinde göç etmeyen ve sarartma etkisine sahip olmayan özelliklere sahip fotobaşlatıcıların geliştirilmesine yönelik ciddi araştırmalar yapılmaktadır. Özellikle elektromanyetik spektrumun yakın UV-görünür bölgesinde absorbansa sahip fotobaşlatıcıların keşfi, çevre dostu beklentilerin karşılanabilmesi açısından büyük önem teşkil etmektedir. Fotokimyanın polimer sentez bilimine olan uygulaması sadece yeni fotobaşlatıcıların keşfi ile sınırlı değildir. Özellikle ışık ile etkinleşen bazı tepkimelerin polimer bilimine olan uyarlamaları da oldukça hatırı sayılır bir önem arz etmektedir. Bu tepkime süreçleri, ısı ile gerçekleştirilen süreçlere göre üç boyutlu kontol sağlaması ve ılımlı koşullarda gerçekleşebilmesi açısından avantaja sahiptir. Yakın zamanda yapılan çalışmalar, birinci yükseltgenme basamağındaki bakır tuzlarını (CuCl ya da CuBr) katalizör olarak kullanan "atom transfer radikal polimerizasyon" ve "çıt çıt" (click) kimyası tepkimelerinin, Cu(II) tuzu ve fotobaşlatıcılar yardımıyla gerçekleştirilebileceğini göstermiştir. Böylelikle hava varlığında kolaylıkla yükseltgenebilen Cu(I) tuzları yerine yüksek kararlılığa sahip Cu(II) tuzları kullanılabilmekte, ve Cu(I) tuzlarının etkilenmemesi için kullanılan ağır denetsel zorunlulukarın önüne geçilerek deneylerin çok daha pratik koşullarda gerçekleştirilebildiği gösterilmiştir. Bu tezde ışıkla başlatılmış süreçlerin makromoleküler sentezine olan uyarlmalarını konu alan üç farklı çalışma sunulmuştur. İlk kısımda, poli(etilen oksit) dietilamonyum tiyoksanton karboksilat (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) isimli II. Tip polimöerik fotobaşlatıcının sentezi, karakerizasyonu ve başlatıcı etkinliği gösterilmiştir. Ticari olarak kullanılan fotobaşlatıcılardan farklı olarak, (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) karşıt iyonun uyarılması ile ve herhangi bir ek yardımcı başlatıcıya ihtiyaç olmaksızın polimerizasyonu başlatabilmektedir. Başlatıcı hem suda hem de organik solventlerde çözünebilen bir çok monomere uygulanabilmektedir. Dolayısı ile hem su-seven hem de sudan-korkan polimerlerin sentezine imkan vermektedir. İkinci kısımda siklohekzan oksit gibi oksiran monomerleri, izobutil vinil eter gibi vinil eter monomerlerini ve N-vinil karbazol gibi diğer vinil monomerlerini görünür bölgede katyonik yolla polimerlerştiren fulleren bazlı bir fotobaşlatıcı sisteminin kullanımı anlatılmıştır. Polimerizasyonlar oda sıcaklığında, görünür bölge ışığında (λinc > 400 nm) solventsiz ortamda ya da klorobenzen solventi içerisinde ve polistiren-C60 (PS-C60) ya da yalın C60 ile gümüş hekzaflorofosfat ya da difeniliyodonyum hekzaflorofosfat kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Optik absorpsiyon ölçümleri, serbest enerji değişimi hesapları ve proton tutucu ortamında gerçekleştirilen deneylerin sonucu göstermektedir ki başlama mekanizması bir eksipleks oluşumu üzerinden gerçekleşmektedir. İkinci aşamada C60 ya da PS-C60'dan yükseltgeyici tuzlara bir elektron transferi gerçekleşmektedir ve sonuçta fulleren karbokatyonları oluşmaktadır. Hem radikal katyon türlerinin hem de hidrojen koparma mekanizları sonucu oluşan protonların farklı türdeki monomerlerin polimerizasyonunu katyonik polimerizasyonu başlatabildiği gösterilmiştir. Son bölümde, Cu(II) ile antrasen, piren fenotiyazin gibi aromatik bileşikler arasındaki elektron transferi mekanizmasına dayalı yüksek dalga boylu ışık ile başlatılmış "bakır katalizli azit-alkin halka katılması" (CuAAC) tepkimelerinin gerçekleştirilmesine ait çalışma sunulmuştur. Farklı hızlarla meydana geliyor olmmalarına karşın, bahsi geçen üç aromatik bileşiğin de ışığa maruz bırakıldığı ortamlarda Cu(II) tuzlarını Cu(I) tuzlarına indirgeyerek "çıt çıt" tepkimelerini düşük molekül ağırlıklı organik bileşikler arasında başarıyla gerçekleştirebildiği gösterilmiştir. Kullanılan yöntemin yüksek molekül ağırlıklı polimerlerin sentezinde de kullanbilir olduğunu göstermek için telekelik ve blok kopolimerler yine bu metotla sentezlenmiştir. Spektroskopik ve kromotografik incelemeler makromoleküler yapıların bu yöntemle başarı ile sentezlenebildiğini ortaya koymuştur., Photo-induced reactions have been receiving a revitalized interest as it congregates a wide range of academical, commercial, economical and ecological anticipations. In the area of synthetic polymer chemistry, most of the research intensively focused on photopolymerizations, which is typically the process that transforms a monomer into a polymer by the help of the incident photon energy. Even when monomers are exposed to light of appropriate frequencies, polymers can be obtained. However such reactions are generally low-yielded reactions and almost always an additive is required to increase the efficiency. This additive is known as a photoinitiator which absorbs the light and decomposes to give the reactive species which are responsible for initiation of polymerization. Both free radical and cationic polymerizations are known and their mechanisms were investigated in detail. Both polymerization mechanisms have its own advantages and the researchers are generally interested in the development of new photoinitiating systems for both polymerizations. The reason behind the research for such developments lies on the fact that no photoinitiating system can be perfectly applied to all industrial applications. There has been tremendous effort to develop photoinitiators with enhanced absorption characteristics, solubility, low odor, low migration, and non-yellowing properties. Specifically, the development of photoinitiators absorbing light in the near UV-visible light range of the electromagnetic spectra is a key challenge in the last decade due to the fulfillment of green chemistry demands. Utilization of photochemistry to the synthetic polymer chemistry is not only based upon the photopolymerization methodologies, but also the use of photon energy for the triggering of various reactions. In such processes, the photo-inductions provide spatial and thermal control over the processes under mild conditions compare to the thermal modes. Recently, numbers of papers reported the use of photochemistry to induce the very well-known atom transfer radical polymerization and click chemistry reactions. Both processes require first oxidation state copper salts (CuCl or CuBr) and by photochemical reductions, it was demonstrated that one can generate Cu(I) starting from Cu(II) salts by using various photoinitiators. Thus, the necessity of preserving easily oxidizable Cu(I) species by cumbersome reaction conditions (i.e. inert atmosphere requirements, freeze-thaw pump cycles etc.) can be eliminated as a result of the stability of Cu(II) salts. In this thesis, three different publications are presented, which are mainly based on the photo-induced processes for macromolecular syntheses. In the first part, the synthesis, characterization and initiation efficiency of a novel polymeric Type II photoinitiator, namely poly(ethylene oxide) dimethylammonium thioxanthonemethyl-carboxylate (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) possessing both photochromophoric and hydrogen donating groups in the structure is demonstrated. In contrast to existing Type II photoinitiators, the present photoinitiator initiates free radical polymerization by counter anion excitation even in the absence of added hydrogen donors. The photoinitiator can be applied to the polymerization of monomers soluble in organic solvents or water. Thus both hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymers can be easily obtained using this photoinitiator developed. In the second part of the thesis, a novel visible light sensitive photoinitiating system for the cationic polymerization of typical monomers, e.g. of oxiranes such as cyclohexene oxide, vinyl ethers such as iso-butyl vinyl ether, and other vinyl monomers such as N-vinylcarbazole, using fullerene derivatives is described. The cationic polymerization of these monomers was initiated at room temperature upon irradiation in the visible region (λinc > 400 nm) in bulk or chlorobenzene solutions with polystyrene-C60 (PS-C60) adduct or bare C60, respectively in the presence of oxidizing salts such as silver hexafluorophosphate (AgPF6) and diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (Ph2I+PF6-). A feasible mechanism, as correlated with optical absorption measurements, free energy changes (ΔG), and proton scavenging studies, involves formation of exciplex by the absorption of light in the first step. Subsequent electron transfer from excited C60 or PS-C60 to oxidizing salt yields radical cations of the fullerene derivatives. Both radical cations and strong Bronsted acid derived by hydrogen abstraction initiate the cationic polymerization of variety of monomers. Finally, development of a long wavelength photoinduced "Copper (I) Catalyzed Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition (CuAAC)" click reaction based on the electron transfer reactions of excited states of polynuclear aromatic compounds such as anthracene, pyrene and phenothiazine and Cu(II), is presented. Although at different rates, all the sensitizers were shown to efficiently reduce Cu(II) to Cu(I) that catalyzes click reaction between model organic compounds. The applicability of the method for the construction of various macromolecular architectures including telechelic polymers and block copolymers was demonstrated. Böylelikle hava varlığında kolaylıkla yükseltgenebilen Cu(I) tuzları yerine yüksek kararlılığa sahip Cu(II) tuzları kullanılabilmekte, ve Cu(I) tuzlarının etkilenmemesi için kullanılan ağır denetsel zorunlulukarın önüne geçilerek deneylerin çok daha pratik koşullarda gerçekleştirilebildiği gösterilmiştir. Bu tezde ışıkla başlatılmış süreçlerin makromoleküler sentezine olan uyarlmalarını konu alan üç farklı çalışma sunulmuştur. İlk kısımda, poli(etilen oksit) dietilamonyum tiyoksanton karboksilat (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) isimli II. Tip polimöerik fotobaşlatıcının sentezi, karakerizasyonu ve başlatıcı etkinliği gösterilmiştir. Ticari olarak kullanılan fotobaşlatıcılardan farklı olarak, (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) karşıt iyonun uyarılması ile ve herhangi bir ek yardımcı başlatıcıya ihtiyaç olmaksızın polimerizasyonu başlatabilmektedir. Başlatıcı hem suda hem de organik solventlerde çözünebilen bir çok monomere uygulanabilmektedir. Dolayısı ile hem su-seven hem de sudan-korkan polimerlerin sentezine imkan vermektedir. İkinci kısımda siklohekzan oksit gibi oksiran monomerleri, izobutil vinil eter gibi vinil eter monomerlerini ve N-vinil karbazol gibi diğer vinil monomerlerini görünür bölgede katyonik yolla polimerlerştiren fulleren bazlı bir fotobaşlatıcı sisteminin kullanımı anlatılmıştır. Polimerizasyonlar oda sıcaklığında, görünür bölge ışığında (λinc > 400 nm) solventsiz ortamda ya da klorobenzen solventi içerisinde ve polistiren-C60 (PS-C60) ya da yalın C60 ile gümüş hekzaflorofosfat ya da difeniliyodonyum hekzaflorofosfat kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Optik absorpsiyon ölçümleri, serbest enerji değişimi hesapları ve proton tutucu ortamında gerçekleştirilen deneylerin sonucu göstermektedir ki başlama mekanizması bir eksipleks oluşumu üzerinden gerçekleşmektedir. İkinci aşamada C60 ya da PS-C60'dan yükseltgeyici tuzlara bir elektron transferi gerçekleşmektedir ve sonuçta fulleren karbokatyonları oluşmaktadır. Hem radikal katyon türlerinin hem de hidrojen koparma mekanizları sonucu oluşan protonların farklı türdeki monomerlerin polimerizasyonunu katyonik polimerizasyonu başlatabildiği gösterilmiştir. Son bölümde, Cu(II) ile antrasen, piren fenotiyazin gibi aromatik bileşikler arasındaki elektron transferi mekanizmasına dayalı yüksek dalga boylu ışık ile başlatılmış `bakır katalizli azit-alkin halka katılması` (CuAAC) tepkimelerinin gerçekleştirilmesine ait çalışma sunulmuştur. Farklı hızlarla meydana geliyor olmmalarına karşın, bahsi geçen üç aromatik bileşiğin de ışığa maruz bırakıldığı ortamlarda Cu(II) tuzlarını Cu(I) tuzlarına indirgeyerek `çıt çıt` tepkimelerini düşük molekül ağırlıklı organik bileşikler arasında başarıyla gerçekleştirebildiği gösterilmiştir. Kullanılan yöntemin yüksek molekül ağırlıklı polimerlerin sentezinde de kullanbilir olduğunu göstermek için telekelik ve blok kopolimerler yine bu metotla sentezlenmiştir. Spektroskopik ve kromotografik incelemeler makromoleküler yapıların bu yöntemle başarı ile sentezlenebildiğini ortaya koymuştur. Photo-induced reactions have been receiving a revitalized interest as it congregates a wide range of academical, commercial, economical and ecological anticipations. In the area of synthetic polymer chemistry, most of the research intensively focused on photopolymerizations, which is typically the process that transforms a monomer into a polymer by the help of the incident photon energy. Even when monomers are exposed to light of appropriate frequencies, polymers can be obtained. However such reactions are generally low-yielded reactions and almost always an additive is required to increase the efficiency. This additive is known as a photoinitiator which absorbs the light and decomposes to give the reactive species which are responsible for initiation of polymerization. Both free radical and cationic polymerizations are known and their mechanisms were investigated in detail. Both polymerization mechanisms have its own advantages and the researchers are generally interested in the development of new photoinitiating systems for both polymerizations. The reason behind the research for such developments lies on the fact that no photoinitiating system can be perfectly applied to all industrial applications.There has been tremendous effort to develop photoinitiators with enhanced absorption characteristics, solubility, low odor, low migration, and non-yellowing properties. Specifically, the development of photoinitiators absorbing light in the near UV-visible light range of the electromagnetic spectra is a key challenge in the last decade due to the fulfillment of green chemistry demands. Utilization of photochemistry to the synthetic polymer chemistry is not only based upon the photopolymerization methodologies, but also the use of photon energy for the triggering of various reactions. In such processes, the photo-inductions provide spatial and thermal control over the processes under mild conditions compare to the thermal modes. Recently, numbers of papers reported the use of photochemistry to induce the very well-known atom transfer radical polymerization and click chemistry reactions. Both processes require first oxidation state copper salts (CuCl or CuBr) and by photochemical reductions, it was demonstrated that one can generate Cu(I) starting from Cu(II) salts by using various photoinitiators. Thus, the necessity of preserving easily oxidizable Cu(I) species by cumbersome reaction conditions (i.e. inert atmosphere requirements, freeze-thaw pump cycles etc.) can be eliminated as a result of the stability of Cu(II) salts. In this thesis, three different publications are presented, which are mainly based on the photo-induced processes for macromolecular syntheses. In the first part, the synthesis, characterization and initiation efficiency of a novel polymeric Type II photoinitiator, namely poly(ethylene oxide) dimethylammonium thioxanthonemethyl-carboxylate (PEO-NH+(CH3)2 TX-CH2COO-) possessing both photochromophoric and hydrogen donating groups in the structure is demonstrated. In contrast to existing Type II photoinitiators, the present photoinitiator initiates free radical polymerization by counter anion excitation even in the absence of added hydrogen donors. The photoinitiator can be applied to the polymerization of monomers soluble in organic solvents or water. Thus both hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymers can be easily obtained using this photoinitiator developed. In the second part of the thesis, a novel visible light sensitive photoinitiating system for the cationic polymerization of typical monomers, e.g. of oxiranes such as cyclohexene oxide, vinyl ethers such as iso-butyl vinyl ether, and other vinyl monomers such as N-vinylcarbazole, using fullerene derivatives is described. The cationic polymerization of these monomers was initiated at room temperature upon irradiation in the visible region (λinc > 400 nm) in bulk or chlorobenzene solutions with polystyrene-C60 (PS-C60) adduct or bare C60, respectively in the presence of oxidizing salts such as silver hexafluorophosphate (AgPF6) and diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (Ph2I+PF6-). A feasible mechanism, as correlated with optical absorption measurements, free energy changes (ΔG), and proton scavenging studies, involves formation of exciplex by the absorption of light in the first step. Subsequent electron transfer from excited C60 or PS-C60 to oxidizing salt yields radical cations of the fullerene derivatives. Both radical cations and strong Bronsted acid derived by hydrogen abstraction initiate the cationic polymerization of variety of monomers. Finally, development of a long wavelength photoinduced `Copper (I) Catalyzed Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition (CuAAC)` click reaction based on the electron transfer reactions of excited states of polynuclear aromatic compounds such as anthracene, pyrene and phenothiazine and Cu(II), is presented. Although at different rates, all the sensitizers were shown to efficiently reduce Cu(II) to Cu(I) that catalyzes click reaction between model organic compounds. The applicability of the method for the construction of various macromolecular architectures including telechelic polymers and block copolymers was demonstrated. Spectroscopic and chromatographic investigations revealed that successful macromolecular syntheses were achieved. 85

Konjuge polimerlere olan mevcut ilgi, bilgi depolama ve optik sinyal üretimi, batarya yerine kullanım ve güneş enerjisi dönüşüm malzemeleri gibi birçok farklı uygulamalara öncülük eden ilginç optik ve elektriksel iletkenlik özelliklerine bağlıdır. Ayrıca, konjuge polimerlerden elektrolüminesans, poli(p-fenilen vinilen) (PPV) esaslı ilk polimerik ışık-yayan diodların (PLEDs) bildirilmesinden bu yana hızla gelişen bir alandır. Çeşitli konjuge polimerler arasında özellikle, PPV ve türevleri iyi film oluşturma özellikleri ile yüksek fotolüminesans (PL) ve elektrolüminesans (EL) kuantum verimlerinin yanı sıra, moleküler yapı tasarımları ile ayarlanabilir renk özelliği göstermelerinden dolayı ileri teknoloji performanslı polimerlerinin gelecek vaad ettiği için çok fazla ilgi uyandırmaktadır. Ayrıca iyi mekanik özellik ve üstün kimyasal ve ısısal dayanıklılık göstermeleri de esnek LED'ler gibi elektronik cihazların üretimine kolaylık sağlar.PPV'in kendisi sert bir yapıya sahiptir ve bu nedenle çözünmez özellik gösterir. Bu da malzemelerin birçok uygulama alanı için gerekli olan ince filmlere işlenebilirliğini imkânsız kılar. Sonuç olarak, iyileştirilmiş, çözünebilirlik, işlenebilirlik ve dayanıklılık özelliklerine sahip iyi tanımlanmış konjuge polimerlerin hazırlanmasına önemli bir çaba yönlendirilmiştir.Polimer ana zincirine hareketli, uzun ve esnek yan zincirlerin eklenmesi eriyebilir ve çözünebilir sert yapılı konjuge polimerlerin sentezinde önem kazanmıştır. Sadece yeni polimerlerin sentezlenmesi değil, aynı zamanda var olan ve bilinen polimerlerin modifikasyonları da dikkate alınarak, polistiren (PSt) ve poli(ε-kaprolakton) (PCL), ana zincirlerine oligo(fenilen vinilen) segmanların yan zincir olarak bağlanması ile kullanılmıştır.PSt veya PCL yapıya katılmasıyla tamamen farklı ve ilginç özelliklere sahip yeni bir polimer oluşturulması mümkündür. Onyum tuzlarının uyarlaştırılması için kullanılan çeşitli konjuge aromatic bileşikler, benzer amaçla katyonik polimerizasyon için PPV nin kullanılabileceğini ortaya koymuştur. Sert ve çözünmeyen PPV nin çözünürlük problemini ortadan kaldırmak için yan zincir olarak PSt veya PCL gibi yumuşak yapıların birleştirilmesiyle böylece bu sorunun üstesinden gelindi.İlk olarak istenilen PPV nin sentezlenmesi için öncü makromonomerlerin elde edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu makaromonemerlerin hazırlanmasında, kontrollü polimerizasyon yöntemleri ve Suzuki kenetlenme reaksiyonu için uygun fonksiyonel gruplara sahip etkin başlatıcılar hazırlanarak zincir-ortası veya zincir-sonu dibromobenzen grupları içeren iyi-tanımlı, PSt veya PCL esaslı polimerler ATRP (Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization) veya halka açılma polimerizasyonu (ROP) gibi kontrollü polimerizasyon yöntemleri ile sentezlenmiştir. 1,4-Dibromo-2-(bromometil) benzen, 1,3-dibromo-5- (bromometil) benzen, ve 1,4-dibromo-2,5-di(bromometil)benzen CuBr /2,2'-bipridin katalizör sistemi ile stirenin (St) ATRP reaksiyonunda başlatıcı olarak kullanılmıştır. 2,5-Dibromo-1,4-(dihidroksimetil)benzen katalizör kalay oktoat (Sn(Oct)2) varlığında ε-kaprolaktonun (CL) ROP reaksiyonunu başlatmıştır. Bu polimerler sonraki aşamalarda da kullanılacağından, uygun verimlerle düşük molekül ağırlıklı ve düşük polidispersiteli polimerlerin sentez edilmesine çalışılmıştır. Öncü polimerler Suzuki kenetlenme reaksiyonu için gerekli fonksiyonel gruplar korunmuştur. Son olarak, potasyum tert-butoksit varlığında Wittig reaksiyonu ile elde edilen polimerler, p-ksililenebis (trifenilfosfonyum bromür) ile etkileştirilerek istenilen konjugue polimerler sentezlendi. Böylece, ana zincire aşılanarak elden edilen PPV türevleri çözülebilir özelliğe sahiptir ve mavi yada yeşil floresans özelliği göstermektedir. Son zamanlarda, fotobaşlatılmış polimerizasyon, pek çok ekonomik ve ekolojik beklentileri karşıladığı için gerek endüstri gerekse akademik çalışmalarda gittikçe artan bir öneme sahip olmaktadır. Fotobaşlatılmış polimerizasyon, sahip olduğu mükemmel avantajları dolayısı ile kaplama, yapıştırıcı, kontakt lens, mürekkep, baskı levhaları, diş dolgu malzemeleri optik frekans yönlendiricileri ve mikroelektronik gibi sayısız uygulamaların temelini oluşturmaktadır. Fotopolimerizasyon, ısısal polimerizasyona göre bir çok üstün özellik gösterir. Oda sıcaklığında yüksek polimerizasyon hızı, düşük enerji tüketimi, çözücüsüz ortamada polimerizasyon, uygulanacak yüzey alanı ve uygulama süresinin kontrol edilebilmesi gibi avantajlar sağlamaktadır. Fotopolimerizasyon radikalik, katyonik ve anyonik olarak başlatılabilse de çok sayıda fotobaşlatıcının ve yüksek reaktivitedeki monomerlerin bulunulabilirliği açısından serbest radikal ve katyonik sistemlere daha fazla ilgi duyulmaktadır. Genellikle endüstriyel uygulamalarda serbest radikal fotopolimerizasyon sistemleri kullanılmaktadır. Ancak, bu tip polimerizasyonların oksijenin yavaşlatma etkisi ve son ürünün özelliklerini etkileyebilen kürleşme sonrasındaki kısıtlamalar gibi bazı olumsuzlukları bulunmaktadır. Bu nedenle, fotobaşlatılmış katyonik polimerizasyon özellikle bu dezavantajların giderilmesi açısından gelecekte daha fazla yer alacağı düşünülmektedir. Bilinen pek çok katyonik fotobaşlatıcı mevcuttur. İyodunyum ve sülfonyum tuzları en çok bilinen ve kullanılan örnekleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu onyum tipi fotobaşlatıcılar, ısısal kararlılıkları, katyonik olarak polimerleşebilen pek çok monomer içindeki çözünürlükleri ve fotoliz sonucunda reaktif türler oluşturma kabiliyetleri bakımından önemli bir role sahiptirler. Brønsted asitlerinin yanı sıra radikal türlerinin de meydana getiriliyor olmasından dolayı bu tuzlar serbest radikal fotobaşlatıcısı olarak ve eşzamanlı serbest radikal ve katyonik polimerizasyonlarında da kullanılabilmektedir. Ancak, onyum tuzları ışığı sadece 220-300 nm arasında absorpladığı için istenilen uzun dalga boylarında kullanımı sınırlıdır. Bu olumsuzluk, aktivatorler yardımıyla ortadan kaldırılabilir ve fotobaşlatılmış katyonik polimerizasyonların spektral hassasiyetini UV ve görünür bölgeye taşınabilir. Bu aktivatorler fotouyarıcı olarak bilinir.Bu çalışmada, onyum tuzlarının elektron transfer fotouyarılmasında PPV türevlerinin kullanımını ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele alınmıştır. Bu amaçla, iki farklı PPV türevi olan PPV-g-PSt ve/veya PPV-g-PCL fotouyarlaştırıcı olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu bileşiklerin uyarılmış hal yayınım özellikleri floresans ve fosforesans spektroskopik ölçümleri aracılığıyla incelenmiştir. Siklohekzen oksit (CHO), isobütil vinil eter (IBVE), ve N-vinilkarbazol (NVC) monomerlerinin katyonik polimerizasyonu oda sıcaklığında uygun dalgaboylarında çeşitli onyum tuzları örneğin; difeniliyodonyum hekzaflorofosfat (Ph2I+PF6-) ve N-etoksi-2-metilpiridinyum varlığında başlatılmıştır.Optik absorpsiyon ve floresans spektroskopik ölçümleri, serbest enerji değişimleri (ΔG) ve proton yakalama çalışmaları ile ilişkendirilerek öngörülen mekanizma, ilk aşamada ışığın absorplanmasıyla eksipleks oluşumunu içermektedir. Sonraki adımda, uyarılmış moleküllerden iyodonyum iyonuna elektron transfer edilmesiyle PPV türevlerinin radikal katyonları oluşmaktadır. Bu yüzden bu proses sonucunda meydana gelen güçlü Brønsted asidi çeşitli monomerlerin katyonik polimerizasyonunu başlatmaktadır. Trifenilsülfonyum tuzlarının elverişsiz termodinamik koşullarından dolayı elektron transfer prosesini başlatmada etkisiz olduğu belirlenmiştir. Conjugated polymers have been widely studied as materials due to their interesting optical and nonlinear optical properties and electronic conductivity that lead to a wide range of practical applications such as information storage, optical signal processing, substitutes for batteries, solar energy conversion, and optical signal processing. Moreover, electroluminescence from conjugated polymers is a rapidly increasing a great deal of research has gone into research interest since the first report of polymeric lightemitting diodes (PLEDs) based on poly(phenylene vinylene) (PPVs). Current interest in among a variety of conjugated polymers, In particular, PPV and its derivatives have attracted much attention for the most promising class of high performance polymers due to their relatively high photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) quantum efficiencies as well as good colour tunability through molecular structure designs. They also show high chemical and excellent mechanical properties, thermal stability that allows the fabrication of electronic devices such as flexible LEDs. PPV itself has a rigid structure and is inherently insoluble, thus making it impossible to process these materials into thin films required for the most applications. As a result, considerable effort has been directed toward the preparation of well-defined conjugated polymers with improved solubility, processability and stability. Incorporation of conformationally mobile, relatively long and flexible side chains onto the polymer backbone has been important for synthesizing fusible and soluble rigid-rod conjugated polymers. Taking into consideration the substantial interest not only in the synthesis of new types of polymers, but also in the modification of commodity polymers to improve their properties to meet the requirements for high-tech applications, with a soft coil polystyrene (PSt) or poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) has been used in which nanostructured photoactive conjugated oligo(phenylene vinylene) segments are attached as side chains to the backbone. It is possible to form a new polymer with novel and interesting properties. Utilization of several conjugated aromatic compounds for the sensitization of onium salts has prompted us to apply PPVs as photosensitizers for cationic polymerization. Therefore, in order to overcome solubility problems of bare PPVs associated with the rigid structure, PPVs with polystyrene and poly(ε-caprolactone) grafts (PPV-g-PSt and PPV-g-PCL, respectively) were synthesized. The first step in the synthesis of the desired PPVs was to obtain precursor macromonomers. In the preparation of macromonomers, controlled polymerization methods were delibaretly employed so as to obtain polymers with desired functionalities at the chain ends, and combine with proper molecular weights and polydispersities Dibromo-benzene functional polystyrene (DBB-PSt) was synthesized by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) of styrene by using 1,4-dibromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzene as initiator in the presence of CuBr/bpy as catalytic system. The corresponding poly(ε-caprolactone) derivative (DBB-PCL) was prepared by Ring Opening Polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone by using [2,5-dibromo-(4-hydroxymethyl) phenyl)]methanol as bifunctional initiator, in the presence of stannous octoate. In the next step, these polymers were coupled with (4-formylphenyl)boronic acid by Suzuki coupling to give aldehyde functional macromonomers. Finally, the obtained polymers were coupled with p-xylylenebis(triphenylphosphonium bromide) by the Wittig reaction in the presence of potassium tert-botoxide to yield the desired conjugated polymers. The resulting main chain conjugated graft copolymers were soluble as were the starting macromonomers and PPVs showed blue or green fluorescence in solution. Even tough photopolymerization can be initiated radically, cationically and anionically, much effort has been devoted to free radical and cationic systems mainly due to the availability of a wide range of photoinitiators and the great reactivity of monomers. The majority of industrial applications of photoinitiated polymerizations for various techniques deal with free-radical systems. However, there are some drawbacks associated with this type polymerization such as the inhibition effect of oxygen and post-cure limitations which may affect the properties of the final product. Therefore, photinitiated cationic polymerization holds considerable promises in the future, particularly as a means of overcoming these limitations. Some important examples of these initiators are iodonium and sulfonium salts. These onium salts give an irreversible photochemical reaction in response to UV excitation due to their thermal stability, solubility in monomers and efficiency in generating reactive species. However, these onium salts only absorb in the region of 220–300 nm. This means, in visible region, they are either poorly responsive or completely insufficent. Thus, their use in applications requiring long wavelength light emitting sources is limited. This drawback can be evaded by using an activator that broadens the spectral sensitivity of the onium salt photoinitiators. These activators are photosensitizers and they can initiate polymerization in the near-UV or visible wavelengths of light. In this work, we report the use of PPVs derivatives for electron transfer photosensitization of onium salts. For this purpose, PPV-g-PSt and/or PPV-g-PCL were used as photosensitizers. The excited state emission characteristics of the compounds were investigated by means of fluorescence and phosphorescence spectroscopic measurements. The cationic polymerization of typical monomers, such as cyclohexene oxide (CHO), isobutyl vinyl ether (IBVE) and N-vinylcarbazole (NVC) with the described initiating system was also tested at room temperature at appropriate wavelengths in the presence of oxidizing salts such as diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (DPI), and N-ethoxy-2-methylpyridinium (EMP). The initiation mechanism, as correlated with optical absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic measurements, free energy changes (ΔG) and proton scavenging studies, involves formation of exciplex by the absorption of light in the first step. Subsequently, an electron transfer from the excited PPV-g-PSt or PPV-g-PCL to oxidizing salt occurs to yield radical cations of the PPV backbone. Thus, formed radical cations abstract hydrogen from the surrounding monomer or the solvent to release a Bronsted acid, which initiates the polymerization. Triphenylsulphonium hexafluoroarsenate (TPS) was found to be inefficient in the photoinduced electron transfer process due to the unfavorable thermodynamic conditions. 120

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2012, Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2012, Doğal porfirin halkası ile yapısal olarak benzer olan ftalosiyaninler, 18-π elektron sistemlerine sahip olmalarından dolayı organik fonksiyonel materyallerin en yoğun çalışılan sınıflarından biri olmuştur. Ftalosiyaninlerin kimyası üzerine yapılan önemli araştırmalardan biri de onların çeşitli solventlerde çözünürlüğünü artırmaktır. Bu yüzden agregasyona uğramayan ve suda çözünebilen ftalosiyaninler önemlidir ve birçok uygulama için kullanılabilme potansiyeline sahip maddelerdir. Ftalosiyaninler geleneksel olarak boya ve pigment olarak kullanılagelmiştir. Son zamanlarda yoğun olarak araştırılan ftalosiyaninler, fotokopi cihazlarında fotoiletken, kimyasal sensör, elektrokataliz, elektrokromizm ajanı olarak birçok bilimsel alanda kullanım alanı bulmuştur. Endüstrideki yaygın uygulama alanlarının yanında ftalosiyaninler; fotodinamik terapi (PDT), patolojik bakterilerin ve mantarların fotoinaktivasyonu amacıyla da kullanılırlar. Ftalosiyaninler porfirinlere göre çok daha şiddetli, yaklaşık 680 nm civarında gösterdikleri absorbsiyon ile ve singlet oksijen üretimi ile PDT için umut verici fotoalgılayıcılardır. Ancak ftalosiyaninler sulu çözeltide agrage olabilirler. Bu durum 680 nm civarındaki absorbsiyonlarını söndürdüğü için ftalosiyaninlerin fotoalgılayıcı yeteneklerini de önemli ölçüde azaltır. Son zamanlarda hücre kültürü kullanılarak yapılan kanser araştırmalarının çoğunda, DNA’ya bağlandığı tespit edilen katyonik ftalosiyaninler kullanılmaktadır. Bağlanan ftalosiyaninlerin uyarılmasıyla singlet oksijen oluşumu sağlandığı ve tümör hücresinin parçalandığı görülmektedir. Tıbbi uygulamalar için suda çözünürlük önemli bir faktördür. Ftalosiyaninlere karboksilat, sülfonat ve kuaternize edilmiş amino gibi hidrofilik grupların eklenmesiyle onların su ve DMSO gibi polar çözücülerde çözünmelerini sağladığı bilinmektedir. Genellikle, PDT çalışmalarında singlet oksijen oluşturma kapasitesi yüksek olan silisyum ftalosiyaninler kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, N-metil pirolidin-2-ol, N-(2-Hidroksietil) hekzametilenimin ve N,N,N-trimetilamonyum metil fenoksi yapılarının, silisyum ftalosiyaninato diklorür ile kuru toluen içerisinde NaH varlığında 24 saat reaksiyona sokulmasıyla eksenel konumları farklı fonksiyonel gruplara sahip silisyum ftalosiyanin bileşikleri elde edilmiştir. Bu yeni silisyum ftalosiyaninler dimetil sülfatın aşırısı kullanılarak kuaternize edilmiştir. Elde edilen bileşiklerin yapıları UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, floresans ve kütle (MALDI-TOFF yöntemi – dihidroksibenzoik asit matriksi kullanılarak) spektrumları ile elementel analiz sonuçları yardımıyla karakterize edilmiştir. Bunlara ilave olarak agaroz jel elektroforez, UV/Vis ve floresans DNA-Pc titrasyon spektrumları, bir DNA boyası olan SYBR Green I ile DNA kompleksinin floresansını sönümlendirme spektrumları, KDNA bağlanma sabitleri ve DNA termal denaturasyon eğrileri kullanılarak DNA’ya bağlandıkları tespit edilirken diğer yandan literatürde yaygın olarak kullanılan ve ticari olarak satılan singlet oksijen tuzakları kullanılarak hem nötr hem de suda çözünür kuaternize ftalosiyaninlerin singlet oksijen ürettikleri ortaya konmuştur., Phthalocyanines (Pcs) have been one of the most extensively studied classes of organic functional materials because of their aromatic 18-π electron system which is closely related to that of the naturally occurring porphyrin ring. Phthalocyanines have a long-wavelength band with a large extinction coefficient (~105 M-1cm-1) and generally a low dark toxicity. Some are efficient 1O2 generators, and are easily obtainable in pure form. Some phthalocyanines are promising second-generation photosensitizers. Based on the extensive biological research done on photosensitizers, some of the desired properties of second generation photosensitizers have been established. They should be, for example, chemically pure and maintain a constant composition during the treatment; they should exhibit minimal photobleaching and have minimal dark toxicity; they should be preferentially retained by the target tissue (to minimize damage to healthy cells); they should be quickly cleared after PDT treatment; they should have a high quantum yield of long-lived triplet states (to produce a high yield of 1O2); and they should have a large extinction coefficient in the region of 600-800 nm (for good light penetration into tissue). These desired properties have provided major guidelines for designing new photosensitizers, although no photosensiter can be expected to meet all these criteria. One of the important aims of research on the chemistry of phthalocyanines is to enhance their solubility in various solvents. In this case non-aggregated and water-soluble phthalocyanines are important and potentially useful materials for many applications. Phthalocyanines have been used as dyes and pigments traditionally. During the last few years, phthalocyanines (Pcs) have been intensively studied due to their applications in many scientific areas such as photoconducting agents in photocopying devices, chemical sensors, electrocatalyst, electrochromism agents. In addition to their conventional use in industry, phthalocyanines are also used in photoinactivation of bacterias and photodynamic therapy (PDT). Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising cancer treatment utilizing a photosensitizer, visible light and oxygen. Usually PDT is carried out in three stages. First, the PDT drug is administered by an appropriate method, intravenous injection is a common one. Then, a drug-biodistribution interval is allowed. Finally, the tumor is irradiated with visible light. In a key step of PDT, a photochemical reaction generates singlet oxygen, 1O2. This is strongly cytotoxic because of its great oxidizing ability. Phthalocyanines are particularly promising photosensitizer for PDT because of their intense absorptions at about 680 nm (about 2 orders of magnitude larger in intensity than porphyrin long wavelength absorptions) and their ability for generating singlet oxygen. The ground state of the PDT drug is excited to its singlet state with light of suitable wavelength. This state can relax to its ground state by non-radiative decay or by emitting a fluorescence photon, or it can be converted to a triplet state by intersystem crossing. The triplet state can relax to the ground state by emitting a phosphorescence photon, by electron transfer to a surrounding substrate with the generation of hydroxyl or superoxide radicals (a Type-I photoreaction), or by energy transfer to triplet ground-state oxygen with an accompanying production of singlet oxygen (a Type-II photoreaction). Type-II photoreactions dominate during normal PDT. Generally the outcome of PDT is the combined result of three processes, direct cell killing, tumor vascular effects and immune system effects. The direct cell effects involve damage to organelles such as lysosomes and mitochondria, and to cell membranes. These lead to tumor hypoxia and cell death. The immune effects can include inflammatory cell effects and the generation of long-term anti-tumor responses. These too can cause cell death. However, Phthalocyanines are well known for their high tendency to aggregate in aqueous solutions, which can significantly decrease their photosensitizing ability through self-quenching. The central metal ion and peripheral substituents play an important role in the photophysical properties of phthalocyanines. The ligands or the metal in these macromolecules can be varied in an easily controlled manner to facilitate an individual application. When a diamagnetic ion is in the center of the ring (e.g., Zn, Al, Ga), the phthalocyanine generally possesses a high triplet state yield (φT > 0.4) with a long lifetime (τT > 200 μs) and enough energy (110-126 kJ/mol-1) to generate 1O2 (94.5 kJ/mol-1 is required). The triplet-state lifetimes of an axially substituted silicon phthalocyanine typically vary from 100 to 200 μs and the yields from 0.2 to 0.5. Some phthalocyanines (e.g., AlPcX, SiPcX2) have one or two axial ligands. The peripheral substituents and axial ligands govern to an important extent the physical and chemical and biological properties of these compounds (e.g., stability, solubility) and make it possible to prepare satisfactorily optimized phthalocyanines for use as photosensitizers. The solubility of Pcs is very important for the investigation of their chemical and physical characteristics. To increase the solubility of Pcs some different kinds of solubility-enhancing substituents like alkyl, alkoxy, phenoxy groups can be added to the peripheral and axial positions of the Pc ring. Amphiphilic phthalocyanines which incorporate polar and non-polar groups at the same time are significant especially in photodynamic theraphy. The sulfonated silicon phthalocyanines were expected to have higher solubility in polar solvents than their unsubstituted phthalocyanine analogues. This property has the potential to make it easier to disperse these phthalocyanines in surfactants where phthalocyanines can serve as photobleaches. They were also expected to provide good candidates for photodynamic therapy studies. It is known that cationic Pcs form complexes with nucleic acids. Recently, cationic phthalocyanines which bind to DNA have been used on cell culture experiments for the purpose of PDT. It was seen that these phthalocyanines produce singlet oxygen and cause the lysis of cell. Water solubility is an important factor for medical applications. It has been known that, phthalocyanines which are substituted with hydrophilic groups such as sulfonates, carboxylates or quaternized amino groups can be soluble in polar solvents such as water or DMSO. Generally silicon phthalocyanines are used in PDT due to their high singlet oxygen quantum yields. In this work, silicon phthalocyanine compounds with different functional groups in axial positions were obtained by reacting N-methyl pyrrolidine-2-ol, N-(2-Hydroxyethyl) hekzamethyleneimine and N,N,N-trimethylamonium methyl fenoxy groups with unsubstituted silicon phthalocyanine in the presence of NaH in dry toluene for 24 h. Thus, they have less capacity to aggregate with their macrocycles close to each other, and more capacity to hydrogen bond. Because of this, they have more potential to be taken up by cells and less to have short triplet lifetimes. Thus, they have the promise of being good PDT agents. The new compounds are quaternized with the use of excess amount of dimethyl sulfate. The structures of these compounds were characterized by using UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, fluorescence and mass spectroscopic (MALDI-TOFF method- using of dihydroxybenzoic acid matrix) techniques. In addition, while the interaction of these compounds with DNA was evaluated by agarose gel electrophoresis, UV/ Vis DNA titration spectras, fluorescence DNA-Pc titration spectras, quenching spectrums of DNA with SYBR Gren I which is a dye of DNA, KDNA binding constants and DNA thermal denaturation curves on one side, on the other side the generation of singlet oxygen of all species was determined by the using of singlet oxygen quenchers which are using generally in the literature and commercially avaliable. For the evaluation of the results of both UV/vis titrations and gel electrophoresis, it was shown that high water solubility of the complexes makes them suitable for biological investigations under different solution conditions. Not intercalative but electrostatic interactions between pcs and DNA were the main factors for binding. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sıvı fazda gerçekleştirilen fotokatalitik karbondioksit indirgeme testlerinde karşılaşılabilen sorunları araştırmak ve gözler önüne sermektir. Fotokataliz çalışmalarında test koşullarının sonuçlara etkisi, ortamda kütle aktarımı kısıtlamalarının olmadığı varsayımıyla sıklıkla hafife alınmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Pt/TiO2 ve Cu/TiO2 katalizörleriyle gerçekleştirilen karıştırma hızı ve gazın sıvı içinde kalma süresi deneylerinin yardımıyla sıvı fazda gerçekleştirilen fotokatalitik deneylerde kütle aktarım hızının önemli etkisi gözler önüne serilmiştir. Deneylerde 12 ve 19.5 kJ/mol olarak bulunan düşük aktivasyon enerji değerleri testlerin difuzyon hızıyla sınırlandığını gösterir niteliktedir. Difuzyon hızı sınırlandırmalarının, reaksiyon veriminin düşmesine sebep olan ters reaksiyonları tetiklediği düşünülmektedir.Doğal fotosentezin sahip olduğu gelişmiş taşıma ve zar sistemlerine sahip olmamakla birlikte fotokatalitik karbondioksit indirgenmesi Suni Fotosentez olarak adlandırılır. Doğal ve suni fotosentez arasındaki benzerlikler ve farklılıklar, güncel fotokataliz hızlarının gelistirilebilmesi amacıyla irdelenmiştir.Karbondioksitin bakır yüzeyler üzerinde indirgenerek metanole dönüşmesinin kinetik ve mikrokinetik modellemesi, fotokatalitik sistemlerde hız belirleyen basamakların açığa çıkarılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Hesaplamalar fotokataliz sıcaklık ve basınçlarında yapıldığında, suyun metanol üretimi hızı üzerindeki negatif, basıncın ise pozitif etkisi gözlemlenmiştir. Reaksiyon basamaklarının hıza etkisi araştırıldığında ise, karbondioksit indirgenmesinde H atomlarının ve de dolaylı olarak su ayrıştırma aşamasının önemi vurgulanmıştır. The aim of this study is to investigate and reveal challenges in photocatalytic CO2 reduction tests performed in liquid media. Effect of test conditions in photocatalytic studies are often underestimated with an assumption of negligible mass transfer limitations in observed rate results. In this study, effect of mass transfer limitations in liquid phase photocatalytic tests was revealed with stirring rate and gas hold-up time experiments performed with Pt/TiO2 and Cu/TiO2 catalysts. In addition, apparent activation energies of 12 and 19.5 kJ/mol found with Pt/TiO2 and Cu/TiO2 catalysts respectively indicate diffusion limitations which favor back oxidation reactions resulting in low reduction yields.Photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction is named as Artificial Photosynthesis even though present artificial system does not have sophisticated transport and membrane systems which natural systems have. Similarities and differences between artificial and natural photosynthesis are studied in order to present ideas to improve present photocatalytic rates.Kinetic and microkinetic modeling of catalytic methanol production from CO2 hydrogenation on Cu surfaces were performed in order to have an idea about kinetic limitations at photocatalytic systems. Calculations were performed at temperatures and pressures at which photocatalytic studies are conducted. The results indicated that water has an inhibitory effect on methanol formation rates and higher pressures could be implemented in photocatalytic systems for higher rates. Another implication drawn from degree of rate control calculations is that H formation step plays an important role underlying the importance of water splitting in CO2 reduction reactions. 154

The modification of polymers after the successful achievement of a polymerization process represents an important task in macromolecular science. The ?click?-type reactions, among them the metal catalyzed azide/alkyne ?click? reaction (a variation of the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction between terminal acetylenes and azides) or the Diels-Alder reaction (DA), [4 + 2] system, generally consists of a coupling of a diene and a dienophile by intra- or intermolecular reaction represent an important contribution towards this endeavor.This approach brings an enormous potential in material science. The key features in ?click? chemistry is represented by quantitative yields, high tolerans of functional groups, simple product isolations, lack of by-product, superior regioselectivity, and mild and simple reaction conditions. Since their fast growth, click chemistry strategies have been rapidly integrated into the field of macromolecular enginering and extensively been used in the synthesis of polymers ranging from linear to complex structures.The ?click?-type reactions, 1,3-dipolar azide-alkyne, [3 + 2], or Diels?Alder cycloadditions, [4 + 2], were applied ,as a novel route, for the preparation of well-defined graft copolymers, photoinitiating systems with improved properties and reactive precursors for obtaining inorganic?organic conducting composites. 148

Bu çalışmada, kalkon türü doğal bileşiklerin analogları olan metoksi substitue azakalkonlar (1-9), bunların N-oktil, N-dekil ve N-dodekil türevleri (10-27) ve fotokimyasal [2+2] siklokatılma ürünlerinin (28-39) sentezi gerçekleştirildi. Elde edilen otuz dokuz adet bileşik ile ilgili yapılan literatür araştırmasında, 1, 4, 7-9 nolu bileşiklerin bilinen olduğu tespit edildi ancak, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10-39 nolu bileşikler ile ilgili herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmadı. Bileşiklerin yapılarının aydınlatılmasında NMR (1H NMR, 13C NMR, APT, COSY), FT-IR, UV, LC-MS/MS ve elementel analiz teknikleri kullanıldı. Fotokimyasal reaksiyonların oluşumuna açıklık getirmek amacı ile Hyperchem 7.5 programı kullanılarak teorik hesaplamalar yapıldı ve elde edilen hesaplama sonuçlarının sentezlenen bileşikler ile uyum içinde olduğu görüldü.1-39 Nolu bileşikler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen antimikrobiyal aktivite çalışmalarında, 1-9 ve 22 nolu bileşiklerin, 0.45-123.7 µg/mL aralığında Gram Pozitif bakterilere ve mantarlara karşı etkinliklerinin olduğu belirlendi. N-Oktil, N-dekil ve N-dodekil türevlerinden olan 10-21, 23-27 nolu bileşiklerin ise tüm test mikroorganizmalarına karşı 0.42-58.7 µg/mL aralığında oldukça yüksek seviyede antimikrobiyal aktivite gösterdikleri ve aktivitelerin karbon zincirinin uzaması ile arttığı tespit edildi. Fotokimyasal dimer ürünleri olan 28-39 nolu bileşiklerin ise test edilen mikroorganizmalara karşı çok etkili olmadıkları, sadece 38 nolu bileşiğin Gram pozitif bakterilere karşı etkinlik gösterdiği belirlendi.1-27 Nolu bileşikler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen antioksidan aktivite çalışmaları sonucunda ise bu bileşiklerin antioksidant etkinliklerinin çok iyi olmadığı, en iyi aktivitenin ise 23 nolu bileşik tarafından gösterildiği belirlenmiştir. In this work, methoxy substituted azachalcones (1-9), which are analogs of the natural chalcone-type compounds, their N-octyl, N-decyl and N-dodecyl derivatives (10-27) and photochemical [2+2] cyclo addition products (28-39) were synthesized. Although compounds 1, 4, 7-9 were found to be known, compounds 2, 3, 5, 6, 10-39 were synthesized for the first time in this study. Identification of compounds 1-39 were done by spectroscopic methods using NMR (1H NMR, 13C NMR, APT, COSY), FT-IR, UV, LC-MS/MS and elemental analysis techniques. In order to explain the photochemical reactions, theoretical calculations were performed by using Hyperchem 7.5 programme, and products were found to be in harmony with the results obtained from the calculations.In the antimicrobial activity studies of compounds 1-39, compounds 1-9 and 22 showed antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. Compounds 10-21 and 23-27, which are N-octyl, N-decyl, and N-dodecyl derivatives, showed high antimicrobial activities against all test microorganisms, and it is seen that activities were increased with carbon chain elongation. Photochemical dimer products 28-39 were not effective against the tested microorganisms. Only compound 38 showed activity against Gram positive bacteria.As a result of antioxidant activity studies on the compounds 1-27, it is estimated that antioxidant activity of these compounds were not very good. The best activity was determined with compound 23. 225

Bu çalışmada tiyosemikarbazit ligandının, VIB ve VIIB grubu metal karbonil [metal hegzakarbonil (Metal=Krom; 1, Molibden; 2, Wolfram; 3); Bromo pentakarbonilrenyum(I) ; siklopentadienil trikarbonilmangan(I) kompleksleri ile fotokimyasal tepkimeleri sonucunda bir seri orjinal karbonil kompleksleri; cis-[metal tetrakarbonil(dihapto-N,S-Tiyosemikarbazit)] (Metal= krom; 1, Molibden; 2, Wolfram; 3); facical-[brom trikarbonil Renyum(I)-(dihapto-N,N-tiyosemikarbazit)], 4 ve [siklopentadienil monokarbonil Mangan(I)(dihapto-N,N-tiyosemikarbazit)],5 sentezlendi. Sentezlenen komplekslerin yapıları, elemental analiz, FTIR, 1H NMR ve LC-Mass spektrometri yöntemleri ile aydınlatıldı. Spektroskopik bulgulara dayanarak, VIB grubu metal karbonil komplekslerinde (1-3), tiyosemikarbazit ligandının kükürt ve terminal amin azot atomundan bidentat olarak koordine olmasına rağmen, VIIB grubu metal karbonil komplekslerinde (4-5), ligandın terminal amin ve tiyoamid azot atomlarında bidentat olarak koordine olduğu açıklanmıştır. A series of metal carbonyl complexes of VI B and VII B groups having the general compositions cis[metal tetracarbonyl-(dihapto-N,S-thiosemicarbazide)], [Metal= Chromium; 1, Molybdenum; 2, Wolfram; 3] and facial-[bromine Rhenium(I) tricarbonyl bromine -(dihapto-N,N-thiosemicarbazide)], 4 and [Manganese(I) monocarbonyl cyclopentadienyl-(dihapto-N,N-thiosemicarbazide)], 5 with thiosemicarbazide (TSC) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, LC-mass spectrometry, FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The spectral data suggest the involvement of sulfur and terminal amino nitrogen of TSC in coordination to the central metal ion for VI B metal carbonyl complexes whereas the terminal amino nitrogen and thioamide nitrogen of TSC in coordination to the central metal ion for VII B metal carbonyl complexes. On the basis of spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for all of the complexes. 91

Bu deneysel çalışmada, ticari önemi yüksek bir boyarmadde sentez kimyasalı olan, içerdiği 3 adet sülfonat grubu nedeniyle oksidatif ayrışmaya son derece direnç gösteren K-asidin (KA) Foto-Fenton (Fe2+/H2O2/UV-C) ileri oksidasyon prosesi ile arıtılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Prosesi etkileyen başlıca parametrelerin (giriş KOİ içeriği, başlangıç H2O2 ve Fe2+ konsantrasyonları, ayrıca fotokimyasal arıtma süresi), arıtım verimleri (KA, KOİ, TOK) üzerindeki etkileri söz konusu kirleticinin tam ve kısmen oksidasyonu için ayrı ayrı olarak Yanıt Yüzey Yöntemi (YYY) ile modellenmiş ve optimize edilmiştir. Deneysel ve istatistiksel tasarım çalışmaları sonucunda, KA içeren atıksuları için tipik olan 450 mg/L giriş KOİ değeri için optimum deneysel koşullar tam oksidasyonu için (H2O2)0= 37.5 mM, (Fe2+)0= 0.8 mM ve tr= 83 dk. ve kısmen oksidasyonu için (H2O2)0= 20 mM, (Fe2+)0= 0.4 mM ve tr= 55 dk. olarak bulunmuştur. Farklı giriş KOİ değerleri ve oksidasyon dereceleri için polinomal regresyon modeli tarafından belirlenen optimum reaksiyon koşullarında Foto-Fenton arıtımına tabi tutulmuş KA çözeltilerinin sentetik olarak hazırlanmış evsel atıksuya aklime edilmiş heterotrof biyokütlenin oksijen tüketim hızına başlangıçta zaten az olan olumsuz etkinin fotokatalitik arıtma süresi sonunda tamamının giderilebildiği ve reaksiyon süresi sonunda proses oksidasyon ürünlerinin ekotoksikolojik bir risk oluşturmadığı bulunmuştur., Naphthalene sulphonates are polar, hydrophilic and extremely resistant to oxidative (biological, chemical and photochemical degradation) reactions due to the functional sulphonate group which is included in their structure. In this experimental study, the treatability of K-acid (KA) that is used for the synthesis of dyes, has also utmost economic importance and resistant to oxidative degradation due to the presence of three sulphonate groups is investigated with Photo-Fenton (Fe2+/H2O2/UV-C) advanced oxidation process. Main parameters (initial COD values, initial H2O2 and Fe2+ concentrations and photochemical treatment time) affecting the treatment efficiency (KA, COD, TOC) are individually modeled and optimized for the ultimate and partial oxidation of the aforesaid pollutant by using Response Surface Methodology. As a result of experimental and statistical design studies, wastewaters containing KA with a typical COD value of 450 mg/L, optimum experimental conditionals are found for the ultimate advanced oxidation and for the partial advanced oxidation (H2O2)0= 37.5 mM, (Fe2+)0= 0.8 mM ve tr= 83 min., for; (H2O2)0= 20 mM, (Fe2+)0= 0.4 mM ve tr= 55 min. respectively. Aqueous KA, which are subjected to Photo- Fenton treatment in optimum reaction conditions, determined by polynomial regression model for the different initial COD values and oxidation degrees, do not have any negative effect on oxygen utilization rate of the heterotrophic biomass aclimated to synthetic domestic wastewater at the end of the photocatalytic treatment process, while having a low negative effect at the beginning. Son yıllarda blok kopolimerlerinin sentezi için bir çok metot önerilmiştir. Bunlar içerisinde dönüşüm polimerizasyonu, değişik polimerizasyon mekanizmalarının birleştirilmesine imkan veren alternatif bir metottur. Bu yöntemin kullanılmasıyla, farklı kimyasal yapılara sahip çok sayıda monomerin kullanılmasıyla, ilginç özelliklere sahip blok kopolimerler sentezlemek mümkündür.Bu çalışmadaki amaç, bir dönüşüm polimerizasyon yöntemi olan ?Fotokimyasal Katyonik Polimerizasyon ve Atom Transfer Radikal Polimerizasyon yöntemlerinin birleştirilmesi? ile poli(siklohekzen oksit) (PCHO)-polistiren (PSt) blok kopolimerlerini sentezlemektir.Çalışmanın birinci aşamasında, başlatıcı olarak kullanılmak amacıyla 2-okso-1,2-difenil-2-bromo-propanoat (B-Br) bileşiği, benzoin (B) ve 2-bromopropanoil bromürün kondenzasyonu sonucu sentezlendi. Elde edilen ürün CH2Cl2 de çözüldü ve etanolden kristallendirilerek saflaştırıldı. In recent years, there have been various methods proposed and used for the synthesis of block copolymers. Among them the transformation polymerization is an alternative method that allows combining various polymerization mechanisms. By using this way many monomers with different chemical structure can be polymerized to yield block copolymers with novel properties.The aim of this study is to synthesis of poly(cyclohexene oxide) (PCHO)-polystyrene (PSt) block copolymers by using a transformation polymerization, namely ?combination of free radical promoted cationic and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) methods?.In the first step of this study, 2-oxo-1,2-diphenylethyl-2-bromopropanoate, shortly bromobenzoin, (B-Br), as a initiator, was prepared by condensation reaction in the presence of benzoin (B) and 2-bromopropanoyl bromide. The product obtained was purified by dissolving in CH2Cl2 and finally crystallized from ethanol. Product was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV, and 1H-NMR tecniques.In the second step of study, bromine terminated poly(CHO)s (PCHO-Br) were prepared by free radical promoted cationic polymerization of CHO monomer in the presence of bromobenzoin, (B-Br), initiator, and onium salts (1-ethoxy-2-methylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate (EMP+SbF6-) and Diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (Ph2I+PF6-)) as oxidizing agent. Polymer solutions were precipitated in methanol, filtered off and dried in vacuo at 40 oC, and characterized by IR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and 1H-NMR tecniques.In the third and last step, the bromine functionalized polymers thus prepared were used as macroinitiators in ATRP of St, in bulk, in conjunction with CuBr /2,2?-bipyridine as catalyst gave well-defined block copolymer of cyclohexene oxide (CHO) and styrene (St). Precipitated products were precipitated in methanol, filtered off and dried in vacuo at 40 oC. Block copolymer formations were evidenced by IR, 1H-NMR spectroscopoic and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) measurements. 87

Bisiklik terpenler doğal madde olmalarının yanı sıra organik kimyada da önemli bileşik sentezlerinde kullanlmaktadır. Bu bileşikler özellikle biyolojik aktif madde sentezi ve boyar maddeler gibi yaygın kullanıma sahiptir. Özellikle ?-pinenin sentezi ile ilgili güncel çalışmalar devam etmektedir. Ticari öneme sahip ?-pinen türevlerinin etkili yollarla yapılan sentez çalışmaları gittikçe önem kazanmaktadır. ?-Pinen bileşiği, tat ve koku monoterpenoidlerinin üretimi için substrat olarak kullanılan doğal bir monoterpendir. ?-Pinenin asit katalizli hidrasyonu ve asetillenmesi parfüm ve farmasöptik endüstride uygulanabilir değerli terpenik alkoller ve esterlerin önemli sentez yollarındandır.?-Pinen bileşiği üzerine literatür çalışmalarında düzenlenme ürünlerinin oldukça büyük miktarlarda oluştuğu görülmektedir. Çalışmamız da ?-pinen bileşiğinin türevlendirilmesi için etkin ve seçici bir yöntemle brominasyonunu hedeflendi. Farklı parametreler sonucunda düzenlenme ürünleri yanı sıra normal katılma ürünleri de elde edildi. The compound of ?-pinene is a natural monoterpene which is used as a substrate for the production of flavour and flavor- monoterpenoids. The hydration and the asetoxylation of ?-pinene with the acid catalysis are the important ways for the synthesis of the terpenic alcohols and esters, which can be used in the perfume industry and pharrmasoptik industry.It can be seen that the arrangement productions about the literature workings on the compound of ?-pinene , are widely formed. In our work, we aimed the bromination with an effective and selective method for the derivation of ?-pinene-compound. After the different parameters applied the arrangement products and also normalcontribution productions. Bu çalışmada, blok ve aşı kopolimer gibi çeşitli makromoleküler yapıların hazırlanabilmesi için yeni sentez yolları tanımlanmıştır. Farklı polimerizasyon tekniklerinin bir araya getirilmesi uç grup modifikasyonu ile başarılmıştır. Uç grup modifikasyonu için kullanılacak öncü polimerler, kontrollü polimerizasyon teknikleri kullanılarak hazırlanmıştır. Bu polimerizasyon yöntemleri molekül ağırlığı ve fonksiyonaliteyi kontrol edebilmekte kolaylık sağlamaktadır. Dönüştürme reaksiyonları, N-alkoksi piridinyum tuzları, morfolin-4-dithiokarbamat sodyum tuzu ve hidroksil fonksiyonlu benzodioksinon bileşikleri kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öncü polimerlerin bu bileşikler ile direk ya da sonradan foksiyonlandırılması ile fotoaktif polimerler elde edilmiştir. Son olarak fotobaşlatılmış blok ve aşı kopolimerizasyon aşaması tanımlanmıştır. İlgili ara ürünler ve sonuç ürünleri 1H NMR, UV, FT-IR, GPC ve AFM ölçümleri ile karakterize edilmiştir. In this study, novel synthetic routes for the preparation of various macromolecular structures such as block and graft copolymers were described. The combinations of different polymerization technique were achieved by end group modification. Precursor polymers for the end group modifications were prepared via a range of controlled polymerization methods. These polymerization methods provided benefit of controlling molecular weight and functionality. Transformation reactions were achieved using N-alkoxy pyridinium salts, morpholine?4?dithiocarbamate sodium salt and hydroxyl functional benzodioxinone compounds. Direct or postfunctionalization of the precursor polymers with these compounds yielded photoactive polymers. The final photoinduced block or graft copolymerization steps were described in detail. Related intermediates and products were characterized by using 1H NMR, UV, FT-IR, GPC and AFM spectral measurements. 168

Bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, kalkon türü doğal bileşiklere alternatif azakalkonlar (1-9 nolu bileşikler), bunların N-desil türevleri (10-15 nolu bileşikler) ve fotokimyasal dimerleşme ürünleri (16-24 nolu bileşikler) olmak üzere toplam yirmi dört bileşik sentezlendi. Fotokimyasal reaksiyonlar sonucu oluşması muhtemel onbir izomerin enerjileri, Hyperchem 7.5 programı kullanılarak teorik olarak hesaplandı. Yapılan literatür araştırması sonucunda; 1-9 nolu bileşiklerin bilinen, 10-15 nolu alkil türevlerinin ve 16-24 nolu dimerlerin ise yeni olduğu tespit edildi. Sentezlenen bileşiklerin yapıları NMR, FT-IR, UV, LC-MS/MS ve elementel analiz teknikleri kullanılarak aydınlatıldı.Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde ise sentezlenen yirmidört adet bileşiğin antioksidan ve antimikrobiyal özellikleri incelenerek 1, 3 ve 15 nolu maddelerin oldukça iyi antioksidan, N-desil türevi olan 10-15 nolu bileşiklerin ise yüksek derecede antimikrobiyal özellik gösterdiği görüldü. In the first part of this work, total of twenty-four compounds, including azachalcones (1-9), which are alternative of the natural chalcone-type compounds, their N-decyl derivatives (10-15), and photochemical dimerization products (16-24) were synthesized. The energies of the eleven possible derivatives obtained by photochemical reactions were calculated using Hypechem 7.5 software, theoretically. Compounds 1-9 are found in literature though alkyl derivatives (10-15) and dimers (16-24) were synthesized first time in this study. The structures of the synthesized compounds were identified using NMR, FT-IR, UV, LC-MS/MS, and elemental analysis.In the second part of the work, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of twenty-four compounds synthesized were investigated, and then it is seen that compounds 1, 3 and 15 were highly activite antioxidant and N-decyl derivatives of 10-15 have highly antimicrobial activity. 254

However, the products were not purified sufficiently to determine their structure. All of the products had spectroscopic analysises. n-Butyl benzyl ether was synthesised succesfully and purely. In Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Özgül Koçak January 2000, 113 pages In this study, pyrene derivatives of 3-hydroxypyrene, 1-aminopyrene and 1-cyanopyrene and the systems formed with pyridine or triethylamine have been selected. The complex formation of 3-hydroxypyrene-pridine, 1-aminopyrene- pridine and 1-cyanopyrene-triethylamine systems has been investigated by using both absorption and emission spectroscopy. The changes in the absorption and emission spectra by hydrogen bond and complex formation, the equilibrium constants at different temperature values and thermodynamic properties related to the equuibrium (enthalpy, free energy and entropy changes of complex formation) have been calculated. A shift to longer wavelengths and differences in absorption and fluorescence intensities in the absorption and emission spectra have been observed. Moreover, hydrogen bond formation in various solvents having different viscosity was investigated and the rate constants related to diffusion-controlled hydrogen bond formation have been determined. In addition, the fluorescence lifetime values were measured in 20 °C for 3-hydroxypyrene, 1-aminopyrene and 1-cyanopyrene systems in different solvents. Hence, the rate constants related to excited state equilibrium reactions of the systems have been calculated. Experimental radiative lifetime value of 3-hydroxypyrene has been obtained by the fluorescence quantum yield and actual lifetime values and it has been compared with the calculated lifetime of 3-hydroxypyrene. 113

SUMMARY The attempted synthesis of a cyclobutane derivative from reaction of an a, p-unsaturated alcohol with maleicanhydride in acetone and acetonitrile was carried out. The products mass have been obtained, but in very low yield, as shown in mass spectra analysis result. A possible reason for the low yield is that excitation of the a, P-unsaturated alcohol is in efficient. Furthermore, some other types of photochemical reactions, such as, photodecomposition, photo dimezitation and photoreduction were examined. Reactions were fallowed by TLC method during the reaction time.
