Günümüzde, mimarlık kuramlarının yerini anlık söylemsel pozisyonlar almıştır. Bu pozisyonlar, ağırlık olarak, bir anlam ve meşruiyet krizi ile karşı karşıyadır. Mimarlık kuramlarının tarihlerinin incelenmesi, bu çağdaş anlık söylem pozisyonlarının, 18. yüzyılda ortaya konan mimarlık kuramlarına dayandıklarını göstermiştir. Bu çalışma kaspamında 18. yüzyıldan geriye doğru yapılan araştırmalar, bugün yaşanan anlam ve meşruiyet krizinin arkasında, 17.yüzyıl sonunda yaşanan ve mimarlığın, antik çağlardan bu yana bilgisinin kaynağı olarak görülmüş olan, metafizikten ayrışması olduğunu ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu ayrışma, mimarlık kuramı ile kuramın hakiki kökleri arasında, kuramın kavramsal bütünlüğünü bozan, içerik kaybına neden olan bir uzaklaşmaya neden olmuştur. Oysa o bilgi, 17.yüzyıla kadar mimarlığa dair bazı önemli tekilleri tanımlamıştır. Köken, anlam, karakter, beğeni ve biçim bu tekiller arasında sayılabilir. Bu tez, yukarıda adı geçen tekillerin mimarlığın evrensellerini oluşturduğunu, bu evrensellerin özgün köklerinin ve onları açımlayan dilin ise milattan önce 1.yüzyılda yaşamış Romalı mimar Vitruvius tarafından, düzen, düzenleme, simetri, orantı, uygunluk ve ekonomi kavramları üzerine inşa edildiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında bu kavramlar, kök ve dil bağlamında, mimarlığın kendi üzerine düşünmesinin aracı olarak yeniden ele alınmış ve eleştirel bir yöntemle yeniden tanımlanmıştır. Gelecekte, anlam ve meşruiyet krizine çare olabilecek sağlam ve geçerli mimarlık kuramlarının bu dil aracılığı ile kurulabileceği öngörülmüştür. Today, architectural theories are replaced by instant discoursive positions, which are mainly overwhelmed by a crisis of meaning and legitimacy. The examination of the history of architectural theories showed that those instant positions are based on the architectural theories of the 18th century. The reverse-chronological investigation of the theories of the 18th century has revealed the emancipation of architecture from its metaphysic knowledge, which distanced the theory from its origins dissociatively, in the 17th century as the reason that crisis. That knowledge was defining the particulars of architectural theory, such as origin, meaning, character, taste, and form from antiquity to the late 17th century. The research showed that those particulars constitute the universals of architecture. Their genuine origin and language defining them were structured by Vitruvius in the 1st century BC on the basis of six essential concepts: order, arrangement, symmetry, eurhythmy, propriety and economy. Those concepts have been revisited and redefined in order to reflect upon the domain itself by means of its own terminology, rather than imported concepts. This reflection, considered as a further study, would proceed towards solid and valid architectural theories corresponding the crisis of meaning and legitimacy. 178

Mimarlıkta temel eğitim, mimarlığın toplumsal yaşam içerisinde özelleşmiş bir bilgi alanı olma mücadelesi içerisinde, bu özelleşmiş alanın temel bilgisini, bir tasarım ideolojisi ve mimarlık söylemi bağlamında, hem tarif etmeye hem de aktarmaya çalışır. Bu bilgi, fiziksel/görsel çevreyi algılama, kavrama ve ifade etme biçimlerinin onu yeniden üretebilme ve manipule edebilme becerisi ile zenginleştirildiği bir alanı kapsar. Evrensel bir tasarım kültürü ortaya koymaya çalışan temel eğitim paradigması, kavramsal ilkeler ve soyut elemanlardan oluşan sistemi, bağlamı yadsıyan tavrı ve karşı- tarihselci tutumu ile Modern Mimarlık Eğitimi içinde bir köşe taşı olmuştur. Toplumsal bağlarından arındığı söylemi ile kurgulanan bu pratiğin, Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü'nün eğitim programındaki yerini anlamak için onun tarihsel, ekonomik, politik ve pedagojik kökenine, üzerine atfedilen kimliklere, ve nasıl uygulandığına bakılmış, bunu gerçekleştirmek için hangi içeriği, nasıl formüle ettiği araştırılmıştır. Temel Tasarım Eğitimi'nin Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi pratiği, Türkiye'de kurumsallaşan ilk örnek olarak özel bir önem taşımaktadır. Bauhaus pedagojisi, Türkiye'de mevcut eğitim sistemi ve estetik ile bir hesaplaşma, karşı duruş geliştirme çabasına dönüşmektedir. Bu çaba farklı toplumsal pratikler ve değişen yüksek öğrenim koşullan altında, farklı formlarla yeniden üretilmektedir. Temel Tasarım Eğitimi'nin toplumsal pratikler, yapı üretimi ve mimarlık eğitimi ile olan ilgisi, yürütücünün mesleki ve toplumsal ideolojisine bağlı olarak geliştirdiği, eğitim formunu biçimlendiren söylemlerin etkileşiminden öteye geçmekte zorlanmaktadır. Yani içerik değişen toplumsal modeller ve mimarlık söylemlerine paralel bir biçimlenme göstermemiş, ama içeriğin örgütlenme biçimine dair söylemler, kurgulayıcı referanslar değişmiştir. The first year in architectural design education as the unique and basic experience of education make an effort to define and convey that knowledge that covers a certain mode of perceiving, conceptualizing and expressing the visual/physical world. This experience is enriched by the skills to reproduce and manipulate it, according to a design ideology and architectural discourse. Its content, the abstract and conceptual code system of the Basic Design, aims to put forth a universal design culture. Because of its denial of the social and cultural context and the a(nti)historical attitude, the Beginning Design Education consequently Basic Design Pedagogy became a corner stone in the history of the modern architectural education. In order to develop a comprehensive understanding on the contemporary practice of the beginning design education in the Middle East Technical University Department of Architecture, the historical, philosophical and peadgogical roots of the program were surveyed. The social, political, cultural and professional reasons of existence were analyzed. In this respect the identities attributed by the intelligentsia, professional and academic circles was investigated. The content and its pedagogical organization were examined with respect to the objectives of the Department through the assignment sheets, General Catalogs, lecture notes as the other channels of institutional representation. The discourse behind the Bauhaus originated Beginning Design Education, which rejects the Beaux-Art tradition in the education of art, design and architecture, and searches for a synthesis between the changing means and conditions of production and the social transformation, became the discourse of a critical and opposite stand against the existing aesthetic and education system in Turkey. This discourse is reproduced in different forms within the changing conditions of the social-political-pedagogical practice. It could be possible to state that the relation of the Beginning Design Education to the other social^practices, building industry and architectural education could not exceed the interactions between the the instructor's pedagogical and professional discourses and ideologies. In spite of the shifts in the constructive discourses and references related to the mode of organization of the disciplinary knowledge, that content do not display a remarkable change parallel to the changes in social paradigms and architectural discourses.
