La necesidad de realizar buenos procesos de contratación de personal, es una preocupación que recae principalmente en el área de Gestión Humana de las diferentes empresas de seguridad, hecho que ha incrementado y popularizado el uso de herramientas que permitan obtener un nivel alto de confiabilidad en los aspirantes, generando un importante apoyo en la toma de decisiones para posteriores vinculaciones. Dentro de estas herramientas, el presente ensayo, presentara a dos de ellas, su historia, bases científicas y las diferentes características que posee cada una de ellas, para lograr la obtención de resultados que permitan contratar personas confiables a partir de la veracidad, aspecto importante para la prestación de un óptimo servicio de seguridad. The need to carry out good personnel recruitment processes, in the security sector, is a concern that falls mainly on the human management area of the different security companies, a fact that has increased and popularized the use of tools that allow obtaining a high level of reliability in the applicants generating support in decision-making for subsequent connections. Withing these tools in this essay, two of them will be presented, their history, scientific bases and different characteristics that each of them has, in order to obtain results that allow hiring reliable and truthful people, a vital aspect for the provision of an optimal security service. Realizar pruebas de poligrafía en la actualidad ha ganado un papel importante al interior de las compañías, cuyo objetivo es el de generar cultura de confianza y confiabilidad en sus empleados, es allí donde los resultados acordes a la necesidad del cliente y basados en la normatividad se vuelven prioritarios al momento de la contratación, seguimiento o posible investigación de una situación específica. Encontrar que las compañías año tras año realizan de manera constante exámenes de poligrafía tanto preempleo como rutina, muestra que dicha práctica llegó para quedarse y que lo encontrado fortalece el nivel de satisfacción del cliente final; es gratificante encontrar que los porcentajes de aplicación crecen y que se eliminan mitos y falsas especulaciones sobre dicha herramienta. Dejando como principal mensaje la evidente necesidad de apropiarse del examen de poligrafía, incluirlo en sus procesos y darle de manera acertada la utilidad para la cual está diseñado. Es importante contextualizarnos acerca de los diferentes métodos tecnológicos usados actualmente en los estudios de confiabidad en uno de los sectores mas vulnerables como lo es la vigilancia privada en Colombia, pero aun mas importante es el comprender en gran medida sus fortalezas, limitaciones, métodos de aplicabilidad, para fortalecer nuestras bases a lo hora de tomar decisiones, e interpretar de una mejor manera los resultados obtenidos en una prueba poligráfica. Analizaremos mas a fondo los procesos de poligrafía y diversos métodos usados para obtener resultados mas confiables y veraces a la hora de llevar a cabo nuestros procesos de selección o investigación, focalizándonos en nuestras necesidades; buscaremos definiciones mas precisas del polígrafo y hablaremos tangencialmente acerca de otros métodos y sistemas usados para la búsqueda de la confiabilidad; estableceremos diferencias claras del por que no pueden comparase con el polígrafo. En la actualidad se ha convertido en una prioridad para las organizaciones contar con un equipo de colaboradores que tengan los más altos estándares de honestidad, credibilidad y confiabilidad, por esta razón el uso del polígrafo se ha posicionado como una herramienta complementaria y de apoyo en los procesos de selección de personal, en la búsqueda de un buen equipo de trabajo y así evitar posibles irregularidades por parte de ellos que ponga en riesgo los activos de las empresas, su actividad económica, así como su reputación, es en ese sentido que cobra importancia la coordinación y precisión de los intervinientes en el proceso de selección, mediante el análisis de caragos críticos, los riegos que estos representan para la organización y la selección adecuada de los temas a discutir dentro de un examen de polígrafo tipo preempleo.
