The article focuses on the restoration of Pearl Harbor natural habitat in Hawaii. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is restoring subtropical dry forest and the anchialine pools. Invasive plant species are removed in habitat restoration efforts. Habitat degradation and destruction, over-collection of the shrimp for the aquarium trade are effecting the anchialine pools. Eleven anchialine pools have been restored as of September 1, 2009. It also lists the endangered flora and fauna.
