Background: Symptomatic osteochondral lesions of the talar dome (OLTD) represent a real therapeutic challenge. In the absence of appropriate treatment, these lesions can evolve into tibiotalar osteoarthritis. Stage 3 lesion of the SFA classification and resistant to medical non-operative treatment may require surgical treatment. The results of the membrane-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC®) technique in the knee have been previously reported. At the ankle, few publications exist. Our objective was to evaluate clinical results of the AMIC® technique., Hypothesis: AMIC® technique is clinically effective for the treatment of LODT with a minimum follow-up of 12 months after surgery., Material and Method: This was a multicenter (5 centers) retrospective study including patients operated on for an OLTD stage 3 of SFA between January 2019 and March 2021 using the AMIC® technique with a ChondroGide® membrane. A functional assessment by questionnaire (AOFAS, EFAS, FFI scores), clinical (VAS) and return to sport were carried out., Results: 21 patients (10 men and 11 women), aged 16-69 years (mean age 34 years) were included. The average follow-up was 34 months (min 12 months; max 72 months). The average loss of substance was 1.83 cm 2 (min 0.6 cm 2 ; max 6 cm 2 ). The results showed a significant improvement in the AOFAS functional score which went on average from 71 [CI = 64; 77] to 90 [CI = 82; 97], EFAS which went from 15 [CI = 10; 20] to 32 [CI = 10; 20] = 26; 38], FFI which went from 28% [CI = 19%; 38%] to 10% [CI = 2%; 18%] and the EVA which decreased by 4 [CI = 3.9; 4.7] to 1 [CI = 0.5; 2.4]. 60% of patients returned to sport at the same level and 80% of patients were satisfied with the surgery., Discussion: AMIC® method improved the functional results of patients with SFA stage 3 OLTD at an average follow-up of 34 months post-operatively., Level of Evidence: IV; retrospective observational cohort study., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest M.P has received speaker and consultant honoraria from Geistlisch® Pharma. Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome, especially when bilateral, may be associated with amyloid deposits, a precursor of systemic amyloidosis. Systemic amyloidosis affects various organs, cardiac involvement having the poorest prognosis. Diagnosis is often delayed. Current treatments are only effective in the early stages of the disease. The primary objective of our study was to evaluate the incidence of amyloidosis in patients with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome; the secondary aim was to screen for cardiac forms., Material and Methods: Between 2019 and 2023, we conducted a single-center prospective observational and diagnostic study to investigate the anatomical pathology of amyloid deposits in tenosynovial samples taken during open nerve release surgery on the median nerve. The tenosynovial biopsy was sent to a specific laboratory for analysis, and typing if positive. If amyloidosis was detected, the patient was referred to a specialist for a specific work-up., Results: We included 54 patients, with a mean age of 67 years (range, 51-89 years): 16 men and 38 women. Sixteen analyses were positive, 12 of which were transthyretin and 4 non-typed., Discussion/conclusion: Bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome was predictive of amyloidosis. As synovial biopsy during surgery is simple and rapid, it should be implemented to identify amyloidosis at an early stage. Introduction: Prospective randomized controlled trials (RCT) have a robust methodology, but some distortions may occur during the course of study. Some protocols may not be available at the time an article is reading. Some authors may change the methodology between the time the protocol was submitted and when the trial results are actually published. Others may distort results to favor more attractive findings and draw conclusions that support prior hypotheses. This has rarely been investigated and none explored the RCTs published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS). Therefore, we did a retrospective investigation aiming to determine: (1) the proportion of trials with a protocol deposited and accessible to the reader, (2) whether the trials scrupulously followed the filed protocols., Hypothesis: Protocols were available in over 80% of cases, and these protocols were followed in over 80% of trials for the primary endpoint., Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective study of articles published in the JBJS between January 2010 and November 2023. Differences in primary and secondary endpoints between protocols and articles were sought., Results: Of the 206 RCT articles studied, 113 (54.9%) described clear and identifiable endpoints, and 93 (45.1%) were not identifiable and were inferred in the results; 184 (89.3%) articles identified a trial protocol. For the 184 articles (89.3%) declaring a trial protocol in the text, 23 (11.1%) protocols were not accessible. In all, 45 articles (21.8%) thus had no protocol available on the Internet (i.e., not available to the reader either because it was not cited in the text or because it was not accessible) so we analyzed 161 articles. The primary endpoint remained unchanged in 97 articles (60.2%) out of the 161 studied, was changed in 64 articles (39.8%), and was lacking (protocol not accessible) in 45 articles (21.8% of all articles). Introduction: The planning step that precedes a total hip arthroplasty (THA) procedure is crucial. Digital planning software programs are being increasingly used, although few studies have reported on the reliability of such tools. Furthermore, no studies have been conducted on the mediCAD® software, despite it being widely used in France. This led us to conduct a retrospective study to: (1) assess the accuracy of this planning software, (2) determine the intra- and inter-rater reliability, (3) determine how obesity affects the accuracy of planning., Hypothesis: THA planning is accurate and reliable when using the mediCAD® software., Patients and Methods: This was a single center, retrospective study. One hundred one consecutive cases performed by a single experienced surgeon were planned retrospectively by two blinded surgeons on two separate occasions. The acetabular cup was cemented in 90 hips (89%), cementless in 11 hips (11%). A dual mobility cup was used in 21 hips (21%). The femoral stem was cemented in 60 hips (59%). The endpoint was the number of exact plans, defined as the same size as the actual implants. An acceptable match was defined as a difference of one size. The match was unacceptable if the planned and implanted size differed by more than 2 for the acetabular cup or by more than 1 size for the femoral stem. The intra-rater and inter-rater reliability were calculated using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) with 95% confidence intervals (CI)., Results: Exact agreement was found by the first rater for 15 planned acetabular cups (15%) and for 45 planned femoral stems (45%) relative to the implants used. The second rater reached exact agreement for 20 planned acetabular cups (20%) and 50 planned femoral stems (50%). The intra-rater reliability for the acetabular cup was average (ICC = 0.57; 95%CI [0.43-0.69]) and poor (ICC = 0.38 95%CI [0.20-054]) for the 1st and 2nd rater, respectively. The intra-rater reliability for the femoral stem was poor for the 1st rater (ICC = 0.47 95%CI [0.30-0.61]) and the 2nd rater (ICC = 0.45 95%CI [0.29-0.60]). The interobserver reliability was low for the planned acetabular cup (ICC = 0.39 95%CI [0.21-0.54]) and the planned femoral stem (ICC = 0.42 95%CI [0.24-0.57]). Overall, when combining the two raters, exact prediction of the acetabular cup was achieved in 31 hips (19%) in non-obese patients and in 7 hips (21%) in obese patients (p = 0.62)., Discussion: This study found acceptable reliability of the mediCAD® software. Experience level, radiograph magnification affected the planning outcome in this study, but obesity did not. We currently do not have the ability to incorporate a reliable radiological scale for two-dimensional templating. Some surgeons prefer using a CT scan, but this costs more than conventional radiographs and exposes the patient to more radiation. Background: A mobile polyethylene liner enables the dual mobility cup (DMC) to contribute to restoring hip joint range-of-motion, decreasing wear and increasing implant stability. However, more data is required on how liner orientation changes with hip joint movement. As a first step towards better understanding liner orientation change in vivo, this cadaver study focuses on quantifying DMC liner orientation change after different hip passive movements, using ultrasound imaging and motion analysis., Hypothesis: The liner does not always go back to its initial orientation and its final orientation depends mainly on hip movement amplitude., Methods: 3D ultrasound imaging and motion analysis were used to define liner and hip movements for four fresh post-mortem human subjects with six implanted DMC. Abduction and anteversion angles of the liner plane relative to the pelvis were measured before and after hip flexion, internal rotation, external rotation, abduction, adduction., Results: Liner orientation changes were generally defined by angle variation smaller than 5°, with the liner nearly going back to its initial orientation. However, hip flexion caused liner abduction and anteversion angle variations greater than 15°. Except for hip adduction, only weak or no correlation was found between the final angle of the liner and the maximal hip joint movement amplitude., Discussion: This study is the first attempt to quantify liner orientation change for implanted DMC via ultrasound imaging and constitutes a step forward in the understanding of liner orientation change and its relationship with hip joint movement. The hypothesis that the final liner abduction and anteversion angles depend mainly on hip movement amplitude was not confirmed, even if hip flexion was the movement generating the most liner orientation changes over 15°. Background: Treatment of scaphoid waist fractures is generally conservative in children but surgical in adults, given the relatively high risk of non-union in adults. In adolescents, the required therapeutic strategy is less well defined. The objective of this study was to compare the radiographic and clinical parameters, and the rate of complications, between non-surgical orthopedic treatment (OT) and surgical treatment (ST) by percutaneous screw fixation of these fractures in adolescents approaching skeletal maturity., Hypothesis: ST of non-displaced scaphoid waist fractures in adolescents allows radiographic union, a functional result and a complication rate comparable to that of ST., Methods: This single-center retrospective study included patients who presented with a non-displaced scaphoid waist fracture, with a chronological age (CA) and a bone age (BA) between 14 and 18 years. Clinical and radiographic parameters and complications were analyzed during the trauma and at one year, including functional scores, between two groups of patients; OT and ST., Results: Thirty-seven patients had OT (63.8%) and 21 had ST (36.2%). The median CA was 16 years [14.25-16]. The median BA was 16 years [15;17] according to the Greulich and Pyle method and corresponded to R9 [R7-R10] and U7 [U7;U8] according to the Distal Radius and Ulnar (DRU) classification system. All non-unions were found in the OT group (23.4% vs. 0%, p=0.019). The duration of immobilization (8 weeks) and the number of consultations were higher after OT than ST. Functional scores were lower in patients with non-union after OT (p≤0.002) CONCLUSION: OT of scaphoid waist fractures in adolescents results in a higher rate of non-union than ST, similar to the rate found in adults. Oral cavity metastasis from renal cell carcinoma is rare with poor prognosis. Recently immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have shown promising outcomes in the treatment of advanced RCC. Herein, we report a case of palatal lesion mimicking vascular tumor in a 60-year-old woman with locally advanced kidney cancer (T3aN0M0). She underwent an excisional biopsy, and histopathological examinations revealed an oral metastasis from clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The patient was treated with a combination of two ICIs with nivolumab, a programmed death 1 (PD-1), and ipilimumab, a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA4). After 3 cycles of systemic immunotherapy, the palate was completely well healed and after 13 months of follow-up, there was no evidence of recurrence. Regarding treatments, radical surgery is often recommended due to a high local control in case of solitary lesions or oligo-metastases. However, this option therapy is associated with a poor quality of life. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case to suggest the benefits of ICIs in the treatment of oral metastases from ccRCC. Introduction: Cosmetic concerns are one of the main complaints of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Several studies have shown a significant improvement in self-image scores after thoracoplasty. However, the effects of thoracoplasty on pulmonary function and clinical outcomes remain debated. The objective was to analyze the benefits and risks of thoracoplasty during AIS surgery using a hybrid construct with sublaminar bands., Material and Methods: In this monocentric prospective cohort study, 68 patients with thoracic AIS were consecutively included between 2016 and 2017. All patients had low-dose 3D radiographs. Surgical correction was performed via the posterior approach, using the posteromedial translation technique with a hybrid construct (thoracic sublaminar band and lumbar pedicle screws). A thoracoplasty was proposed in cases of severe rib hump (more than 3cm). Pulmonary function was assessed by pulmonary function tests (PFT) with forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1 second and total lung capacity). Radiographic parameters and PFT were compared between patients who had or had not had a thoracoplasty preoperatively and 2 years postoperatively. The SRS-22 score was collected at follow-up., Results: The average age was 15±3 years. Nineteen patients (27%) had a thoracoplasty. The demographic, radiographic and respiratory data of the 2 groups were comparable preoperatively. The correction was similar between the groups on sagittal and coronal views. At 2 years, the PFTs were comparable to those performed preoperatively and no difference was found between the groups. None of the 12 patients who had a pleural effusion had it drained. The total SRS-22 score and the cosmetic subscore were higher in the thoracoplasty group (p<0.03)., Discussion: The association of a thoracoplasty with AIS surgery improves the self-image of patients without altering the PFTs at 2 years postoperatively. Background: Botulinum toxin has proven effective in treating persistent myogenous temporomandibular disorders (M-TMDs) unresponsive to conservative therapies. While the usual injection sites are the masseter and temporalis muscles, the deeper lateral pterygoid muscle (LPM) is often overlooked due to its difficulty of access and the risk of local complications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of botulinum toxin-A injections (BTX-A) in the LPM with MR-guided navigation of patients with persistent M-TMDs., Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 34 patients suffering from M-TMDs despite conservative therapies with a total of 51 injection sessions. All of them were treated by BTX-A injections in the LPM using MR-guided navigation, masseter and temporalis with clinical guidance. The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated with measures of maximum pain-intensity scores of breakthrough and background pain, maximal interincisal mouth opening (MIO), and the presence of joint sounds. The assessment was conducted before injections, and subsequently, at 1 and 3 months postoperatively. Adverse events and perception of improvement with the treatment were also reported for each injection sessions., Results: BTX-A injections in the LPM significantly improved pain scores intensity with a reduction of 65 % and 49 % respectively at the 1- and 3-month follow-ups, with peak effectiveness at 1 month. This study showed also a statistically significant improvement in mean MIO at 3 months post-injection and a decrease in joint sounds with persistence in 9,7 % of cases at 3-month follow-up compared to 41,2 % at baseline. No significant adverse events were observed. Patients treated with BTX-A injections in the LPM had a subjective complete improvement in their perception of treatment efficacy in 63 % of cases at the end of the follow-up period., Conclusions: This study reports clinical experience on the use of MR-guided navigation to perform accurate, reliable, and safe BTX-A injections in the LPM. Although our results appear to be encouraging regarding symptom improvement of patients suffering from persistent M-TMDs, this approach may not be feasible as a primary standard procedure for managing M-TMDs. The vascularized periosteal free flap transposes a non-irradiated soft tissue with neoangiogenesis, bone induction, and osteogenesis qualities. A surgical technique using a humeral periosteal free flap is described for the treatment of recurrent osteoradionecrosis of the lower jaw. The humeral periosteal free flap is a technique associated with low morbidity. The procedure described avoids sacrificing major vessels as seen in other common flap procedures. Introduction: The management of periprosthetic femoral fractures is particularly complex in an elderly, frail population, with an increasing incidence due to the increase in femoral prosthesis surgery. The use of locking plates is now widely recommended. The primary objective of this study was to present the results of NCB-PP® locking plates in the management of periprosthetic femoral fractures. The secondary objective was to determine the influence of weight-bearing time on morbidity and mortality and on walking ability. The hypothesis of this study was that NCB-PP® plates would provide radio-clinical results equivalent to those reported in the literature with no influence of time to re-weighting on complication rate and walking level at 1 year post-operatively., Materials and Methods: 89 patients (mean age 81 ± 11.9 (28-99), with a female predominance 62/89 (69.7%)) underwent 89 periprosthetic femur fractures (74 THA, 11 TKA and 4 interprosthetic) and treated with NCB-PP® plates were retrospectively included between January 2014 and September 2022. Patients were then divided into 2 groups according to the time to postoperative full weight bearing: "immediate" (n = 30) and "delayed" (n = 59) (a minimum of 6 weeks post-operatively)., Results: The mean follow-up time was 14.6 months. At 6 months post-operatively, 91.8% of patients were consolidated. At 1 year, 36.2% had resumed independent walking, 8.7% required one crutch, 13% two crutches, 33.3% walked with a walker and 8.7% were considered non-walkers. There were 12 complications (13.5%), including 7 mechanical (7.9%) and 5 infections (5.6%), with 10 patients (11.2%) requiring a revision surgery. Mortality at 6 months and 1 year was respectively 9 and 12.4%. There was no significant difference between pre- and post-operative walking levels (p = 0.45). There was no influence of the time to reweighting on the level of walking at 1 year (p = 0.874), on complications (p = 0.17) or on mortality at 1 year (p > 0.99)., Conclusion: This study confirms the initial hypothesis and the results of preliminary studies on a smaller sample size regarding bone union of periprosthetic femoral fractures with NCB-PP® plates, with a low rate of mechanical complications. Background: Length variations of the lower limbs after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) constitute a poorly evaluated parameter and can be associated with worse functional outcomes. The objectives of this study were to: 1) describe the variations in the lower limb length after TKA according to the digital accuracy of the computerized navigation system used for prosthesis implantation, 2) describe patient sensation of limb length modification at 3 months postoperatively and to identify its risk factors, 3) identify factors affecting lower limb length modification and to analyze the predictive value causing in the patient the sensation of lower limb discrepancy., Hypothesis: We hypothesize that there may be a lower limb length discrepancy after TKA, which may cause some distress to the patient., Patients and Methods: This prospective study included 100 TKAs implanted with navigation gap-balanced adjusted mechanical alignment. Were compared the length of the lower limb before and after implantation and the patient's changes in leg length perception at 3 months postoperatively. A subgroup analysis was performed according to preoperative knee deformities: varus knee was an HKA < 177 °, normal knee was an HKA between 117°-183 ° and valgus was an HKA >183 °., Results: Ninety-seven out of 100 patients experienced lengthening compared to the preoperative ipsilateral length, and twenty-three experienced lengthening greater than 10 mm. The mean lengthening was 7.3 mm (maximum 24.8 mm). Lengthening was significantly greater in valgus knees 9.9 mm [range, 2.0-24.8] than in varus 7.2 mm [range, 1.46-19.4] and normal knees 4.11 mm [range, 0.4-11.4] (p < 0.05). The correction of frontal and sagittal deformation were risk factors for limb length modification (OR = 0.595; 95% CI (0.544-0.816) (p = 0.001), OR = 0.396; 95% CI (0.351-0.653) (p = 0.001)). Twenty-two patients reported a sensation of limb length change: 11 (50%) reported equalization, whereas the remainder reported lengthening with a leg length difference. The preoperative sensation of lower limb length inequality was the unique factor affecting the patient's perception post-surgery (OR = 37.50; 95% CI (9.730-144.526) (p = 0.0001)). A threshold value of 6.6 mm was identified for the sensation of limb length modification., Conclusion: Navigation is a tool for describing ipsilateral leg length variations after TKA. These variations are significant and perhaps explain some patient dissatisfaction. Introduction: The objectives of this study are to establish normative nasalance values in European French for children aged 8-10 years, to study the factors likely to influence nasalance values, and to ensure that the nasometer allows the differentiation of control subjects from subjects with velopharyngeal insufficiency., Methods: Nasal balance scores were calculated using the Nasometer II 6450 (KayPENTAX) for 50 control subjects producing 31 verbal stimuli specifically designed for the French language. Nasalance scores were analyzed and compared with 7 subjects with velopharyngeal insufficiency., Results: This study provided nasalance norms for each verbal stimulus. The phonetic content of the stimuli (nasality, vowel height, voicing) was a major factor influencing the nasalance score. However, the characteristics of the speaker (gender and age) had a non-significant effect, with the major exception of the presence or absence of velopharyngeal insufficiency., Conclusion: This study confirmed the need to use established normative values in the patient's language and for each verbal stimulus. Although the effect of vowel height on the nasalance score has been demonstrated, this study is the first to show an effect of voicing. Once normative nasalance scores are established, a validation study with a larger pathological population will be necessary. Objective/background: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of orthognathic surgery combined with soft tissue surgery with that of soft tissue surgery alone as curative treatments for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome., Patients/methods: This retrospective cohort study included 50 patients aged ≥18 years who underwent orthognathic surgery combined with soft tissue surgery or soft tissue surgery alone for OSA syndrome (apnea-hypopnea index [AHI]: >15). The primary outcome was the improvement in AHI measured by overnight in-laboratory polysomnography before and at 6 months after the surgical treatment by. The secondary outcome was the postoperative AHI., Results: Twenty-eight (56 %) patients underwent orthognathic surgery combined with soft tissue surgery, while 22 (44 %) underwent soft tissue surgery only. There were no significant between-group differences in sex (p = 0.53), age (p = 0.08), body mass index (p = 0.42), and preoperative AHI (p = 0.17). The mean improvement in AHI at 6 months after surgery was significantly greater in the orthognathic surgery group than in the soft tissue surgery group (32.18 vs. 10.41; p < 0.0001). Objective: Currently, fetal monitoring during labor is based on visual analysis of the fetal heart rate (FHR). This test is imperfect, with high intra- and inter-observer variability and a moderate to poor prediction of the occurrence of neonatal acidosis or anoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy. In situations where there is an intermediate risk of acidosis, it is possible to use second-line tests such as blood scalp sampling (with pH or lactate measurement) or ST segment analysis of the fetal ECG. However, these invasive tests have many limitations and their place is debated. Some authors suggest a more physiological approach to FHR assessment. The main actor in maintaining fetal homeostasis is the autonomic nervous system (ANS). Its activity can be assessed by analysing heart rate variability (HRV). The aim is to assess whether HRV can be used to identify situations at risk of acidosis., Materials and Methods: Our team has developed an index, the Fetal Stress Index, to measure HRV. To test it in a situation of acidosis, we used a pregnant ewe model. We also developed in parallel a human fetal ECG recording system., Results: In our experimental model, we have shown that this index reflects variations in the parasympathetic system and correlates with the onset of acidosis. As its use in clinical practice requires the acquisition of a beat-to-beat FHR signal, we have also developed an abdominal patch that allows highly accurate analysis of the fetal ECG., Conclusion: The future is therefore to validate the FSI as a marker of acidosis in a prospective cohort using the signal obtained from our patch. Introduction: For over 10 years, the RM Pressfit cup™ has been used in our department. This is a one-piece, elastic, cementless implant designed with standard polyethylene (PE), covered with a thin coating of titanium particles. To date, there is no French study evaluating this cup after more than 10 years. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study in order to: (1) evaluate the survival of the implant with a minimum follow-up of 10 years, (2) evaluate the functional scores at the last follow-up, (3) measure the wear of the PE, (4) identify radiological loosening, (5) search for risk factors for cup removal, (6) identify complications that required management in the operating theatre., Hypothesis: The working hypothesis was that the survival of this implant was greater than 95% at 10 years' follow-up, in accordance with the criteria of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)., Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective monocentric study, including adult patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) with an RM Pressfit cup™ (28 mm friction size) for coxarthrosis (primary or secondary) or femoral head osteonecrosis. Exclusion criteria were a follow-up period of less than 10 years, the placement of an RM Pressfit cup™ as a secondary intention for a THA (n = 5) or following a trochanteric fracture (n = 1). In total, 163 patients (182 hips) with a median age (Q1-Q3) of 63 (56-68) years, and a sex ratio (M/F) of 1.7 were included. Functional scores were evaluated using the Harris and Oxford scores. Radiographs were analyzed in the immediate postoperative period and at the last follow-up., Results: The median follow-up was 10.5 (10-11.5) years. Of the 182 included hips, 7 cups were removed, corresponding to a 10-year survival rate of 96.1% (95% CI [93.3; 96.9]). The median Harris and Oxford scores at 10.5 years were 95 (90-98) and 19 (17-23) points, respectively. The median PE wear rate was 0.058 (0.039-0.087) mm/year. Univariate analysis showed that male gender was associated with PE wear (OR = 3.6; 95% CI [1.3; 12.9] [p = 0.012]). Ten cups (6%) showed radiological instability with migration greater than 3 mm and/or variation in inclination greater than 8 °, and only 9 hips (6%) showed bone resorption. No preoperative or perioperative factors analyzed were associated with cup removal. Dislocation accounted for 71% (n = 5) of the causes of cup removal. Additionally, 6 hips experienced at least one dislocation episode requiring reduction by external maneuvers in the operating room, bringing the overall dislocation rate in the series to 6% (n = 11). Increased cup inclination was the only risk factor for prosthetic dislocation (OR = 1.2; 95% CI [1.09; 1.4] [p = 0.0003]). Overall complications requiring surgical intervention included 15 (8.3%) implanted cups (7 removed cups, 6 dislocation episodes requiring reduction by external maneuvers in the operating room, and 2 hips reoperated for washing and changing of mobile components due to early infection)., Conclusion: The RM Pressfit cup™ gives good long-term clinical and radiological results with an overall survival of 96.1% and a low complication rate over 10 years. Introduction: With increasing experience in high-volume centers, age alone should not be an absolute contra-indication to lung transplantation (LT) but be considered as part of the patient's initial characteristics. The objective of this study is to provide early and long-term outcomes of LT in recipients aged 65 or older, compared with their younger counterparts., Methods: This is a retrospective study, including all patients undergoing LT in Bichat Hospital (Paris, France) from January 2014 to March 2019. Two groups were defined depending on the patients' age when they were transplanted: patients older than 65 were defined as the "elderly group" and patients younger than 65 years old were defined as the « younger group ». Primary endpoint was 90-day mortality. Secondary endpoints included 1-year mortality, 1-year FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in one second), and 5-year overall survival., Results: From September 2014 to March 2019, 22 patients were included in the "elderly group" and 213 were included in the « younger group ». The elderly group had more single LT (SLT) (82% vs. 29%, p < 0.001), with a shorter cold ischemic time (243 min vs. 310 min, p = 0.001) and a lower rate of early humoral rejection (9% vs. 30%, p = 0.045) compared to the younger group. Ninety-day mortality was not significantly different between elderly and younger group (9% vs. 14%, p = 0.95, respectively), nor were 1-year mortality (23% vs. 25%, p = 0.9, respectively) and 5-year overall survival. Six months after LT, FEV1 was significantly better in the elderly group compared to the younger group (77.0% vs. 65.5%, p = 0.037 respectively), but the difference did not reach statistical significance after one year (78.5 vs. 68.3%, p = 0.18 respectively)., Conclusion: Elderly patients underwent more frequently single LT, and achieved similar short and long term postoperative outcomes compared to their younger counterparts. Objectives: The development of 3D computer-assisted technologies over the past years has led to vast improvements in orthognathic surgery. The aim of the present study was to evaluate differences in maxillary position between 3D virtual surgical planning (VSP) and surgical results., Materials and Methods: We assessed data from 25 patients who underwent bimaxillary non-segmented orthognathic surgery with 3D VSP. Each patient underwent a postoperative CT scan within 40 days after surgery. We compared the STL (Standard Triangulation Language) file from the VSP with that obtained from the postoperative CT., Results: According to our comparative analysis, the postoperative and VSP 3D models did not statistically differ. The Lin concordance correlation coefficient was always >0.95 for each landmark, but in 21 patients (84 % of the sample) we identified at least one point with a difference of more than 1.5 mm between the postoperative and VSP 3D model on at least one axis. Objectives: Botulinum toxin is used in human in repeatedly masticatory muscles injections. A single BTX injection in animal induces mandibular bone loss with a muscle enthesis hypertrophic metaplasia. Our aim was to evaluate mandibular bone changes after unilateral repeated injections of BTX in adult rats., Study Design: Mature male rats were randomized into 3 groups: one, two or three injections. Each rat received injections in right masseter and temporalis muscles. The left side was the control side. Microcomputed tomography was used to perform 2D and 3D analyses., Results: Bone loss was evidenced on the right sides of alveolar and condylar bone. Alveolar bone volume increased in both control left side and injected right side whereas condylar bone volume remained constant in all groups, for both sides. Enthesis bone hypertrophic metaplasias were evidenced on the BTX injected sides without any modification with the number of injections., Conclusion: BTX repeated injections in masticatory muscles lead to major mandibular condylar and alveolar bone loss that does not worsen. They lead to the occurrence of an enthesis bone proliferation that is not dependent on the number of injections. Minimally invasive procedures have recently seen an increase in the treatment of pelvic ring disruptions and select acetabular fractures. Similar to ilio-sacral screws, the superior pubic ramus screw is becoming a preferred method for treating unstable pelvic ring fractures. While the osteology of the superior pubic ramus is well understood and has inherent variability, standard screw insertion techniques work effectively in most cases. If the anatomy prevents the standard approach, there are alternative methods that can be employed for successful screw placement, or there might be a need for an open reduction and internal fixation with plates. Such techniques can be material-intensive and time-consuming. In this paper, we introduce a straightforward method that utilizes the Metaizeau nail as a guide wire to facilitate screw insertion in most instances, termed the "Metaizeau trick". Introduction: The purpose of this European multicenter study was to describe the general characteristics and risk factors of MRONJ lesions as well as their clinical diagnosis and management at different European Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery centers, in order to minimize selections biases and provide information about the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, and the current trends in the treatment of MRONJ across Europe., Materials and Methods: The following data were registered for each patient: gender; age at MRONJ diagnosis; past medical history; indication for antiresorptive or antiangiogenic therapy; type of antiresorptive medication; local risk factor for MRONJ; MRONJ Stage; anatomic location and symptoms; treatment; surgical complications; recurrence., Results: A total of 537 patients (375 females, 162 males) with MRONJ were included. Statistically significant associations were found between patients with metastatic bone disease and recurrences (P < 0.0005) and between advanced MRONJ stages (stages 2 and 3) and recurrences (P < 0.005). Statistically significant associations were also found between male gender and recurrences (P < 0.05), and between MRONJ maxillary sites and recurrences (P < 0.0000005)., Conclusions: A longer mean duration of antiresorptive medications before MRONJ onset was observed in patients affected by osteoporosis, whereas a shorter mean duration was observed in all metastatic bone cancer patients, and in particular in those affected by prostate cancer with bone metastases or multiple myeloma. Introduction: After rotator cuff repair (RCR), return to work and return to sports is affected by various psychosocial factors. The role of one of these factors - mood and anxiety disorders (MAD) - is still not clear. The primary objective of this study was to determine the influence of prior MAD on the return to work and return to sports after RCR. Our hypothesis was that patients with a history of MAD would take longer to return to work and to sports after RCR, and the rate of return would be lower, than for patients without MAD., Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective single-center study of patients who underwent arthroscopic RCR (distal supraspinatus tear). Patients who were employed and those who participated in sports before the surgery were included in the "working" and "sports" groups, respectively. The primary outcomes were the time to return to work and return to sports after surgery. The secondary outcomes were the ratio of patients returning to work and to sports at 3, 6 and 12 months; rate of return to same level of sports; need to change or stop working or sports. The effects of prior MAD on these various outcomes were determined using Bayesian multivariate analysis., Results: The "working" group consisted of 158 patients (of which 16.5% had MAD) and the "sports" group consisted of 118 patients (of which 17.8% had MAD). In those with a history of MAD, return to work was 21±11 weeks later and the return to sports was 17±8 weeks later than in those without MAD. There was a 98% probability that return to work or return to sports was delayed by at least 4 weeks in patients with history of MAD. Introduction: Calcaneonavicular coalitions (CC) affect approximately 1% of the general population. CC or Too-long anterior process (TLAP) result in "repeated sprains" that can be associated with foot and/or ankle chronic pain. The main objective of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of surgery using the AOFAS score., Hypothesis: Functional results after surgical treatment of CC or TLAP are not as good as expected., Materials and Methods: A single-center prospective study was carried out at our University Hospital from 01/01/2019 to 06/01/2021. The patients included were operated on in the pediatric surgery department for CC or TLAP resection by direct approach after MRI confirmation and failure of non-operative treatment. A survey evaluating the AOFAS score as well as the number of ankle sprains and the intensity of pain was undertaken at the preoperative consultation and then at three and twelve months postoperatively., Results: A total of 17 feet in 16 patients (14 girls and 2 boys) comprising 12 TLAP and 5 CC were included. The AOFAS score was statistically significantly increased (58.6 vs. 82.9; p<0.001) postoperatively. No statistical difference was noted between the follow-up visits at three and twelve months. At the twelve-month follow-up, 9 out of 16 patients (56.2%) still reported activity restrictions; mainly linked to the persistence of chronic pain, and 10 out of 16 patients (62.5%) reported a feeling of instability., Discussion: CC and TLAP surgery rapidly improves function but it does not dramatically reduce foot pain and activity restrictions. Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a rare benign bone tumor adopting an aggressive behavior, representing a challenge for clinical and radiographic diagnosis. This case report focused on a 31-year-old man with a large mandibular lesion with severe displacements of the mandibular teeth. Only a combination of paraclinical findings allows a definitive diagnosis to be made. Cervicofacial MRI revealed a low T1 signal intensity with peripheral enhancement after Gadolinium, and T2 hyperintense signal, while PET scan showed a moderate metabolism. Bone biopsy with immunohistochemical analysis allowed for definitive diagnosis of DF after eliminating the main differential diagnosis (fibrous dysplasia, fibrosarcoma, desmoid tumor, and osteosarcoma). Introduction: Carcinoma cuniculatum (CC) is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Lack of awareness of this tumor and its difficult diagnosis delay management and complicate treatment. The aim of this study is to describe the clinical and histological features, predisposing factors, treatment and survival rate of oral carcinoma cuniculatum., Material & Method: All patients with histologically confirmed CC of the oral cavity treated between January 2013 and August 2022 in a specialized center were retrospectively included. Patients were identified using the database ADICAP ("Association pour le Développement de l'Informatique en Cytologie et Anatomie Pathologique"). Once identified, the charts were reviewed., Results: Ten patients were included. CC lesions were mainly located in the mandibular or maxillary gingiva, while the 2 remaining lesions were located in the mobile tongue. The tumor showed local aggressiveness: mandibular or maxillary osteolysis was systematically found for gingival CC, while tongue lesions were classified cT3. Fifteen biopsies were performed in these 10 patients, histological diagnosis is difficult on a limited tissue sample. All patients underwent curative management with oncological excision surgery combined with neck lymph node dissection, and adjuvant radiotherapy (except one patient)., Discussion: The main problem is the difficulty of diagnosis when biopsies are performed, which leads to a significant delay in diagnosis compared with SCC. The objective of this study is to utilize the Nasometer to objectively assess velopharyngeal competence, specifically through the quantification of nasalance. Initial calibration of the nasometer was conducted on American adults. The objective of this study was to validate the use of the nasometer for the objective diagnosis of velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) in French children born with a total cleft lip and palate and to select relevant verbal stimuli for clinical practice., Material and Methods: The nasalance scores of 42 children aged 8 to 10 years old, born with a cleft lip and palate, were collected and compared with 50 control children. The scores were then analyzed in relation to 31 verbal stimuli from the French corpus created for this study (sentences and syllables). The most relevant threshold values were determined by receiver operating characteristic curves, which exhibited the highest sensitivity and specificity., Results: The results demonstrated statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) in the mean nasalance scores of the control and cleft groups for all verbal stimuli containing oral phonemes. Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) after acetabular fracture is typically performed months or years later for posttraumatic arthritis after initial conservative treatment. But THA can be performed earlier after open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of the fracture. The aim of this study was to determine which strategy is best. The primary outcome measure was the radiological restoration of the hip's center of rotation (COR). The secondary outcome measures were the incidence of complications and the hip's functional scores., Materials and Methods: A multicenter cohort was analyzed by splitting patients into three groups: group A (THA within 3weeks of fracture); group B (THA deferred after early ORIF); group C (THA more than 3weeks after fracture, without ORIF). Group B was separated into two subgroups: B- (THA less than 1year after ORIF) and B+ (THA more than 1year after ORIF). The demographics, surgical techniques, COR superior and lateral migration coefficient and functional scores (HHS, HOOS-PS and FJS) were recorded. The functional scores were gathered using PROMs., Results: In all, 367 patients were included: 108 in group A, 69 in group B-, 113 in group B+ and 77 in group C. The mean follow-up was 5.8years [3.4 months-35years]. The mean age of the patients was 69.2years [SD 15; 26-101], 52years [SD 16; 19-83], 49years [SD 16; 16-85] and 58.1years [SD 17; 13-94], respectively (p<0.01). The mean ASA score was 2.13 [SD 0.70], 1.84 [SD 0.65], 1.67 [SD 0.63] and 1.79 [SD 0.60], respectively (p<0.01). A complex Letournel fracture was present in 63 patients (61%), 46 patients (71%), 48 patients (49%) and 38 patients (62%), respectively (p<0.01). A reinforcement cage was implanted in 38 patients (69%), 16 patients (62%), 5 patients (12%) and 19 patients (66%), respectively (p<0.01). Cement was used in 45 patients (45%), 23 patients (35%), 19 patients (18%) and 21 patients (32%), respectively (p<0.01). A graft was needed in 46 patients (46%), 35 patients (53%), 17 patients (16%) and 21 patients (48%), respectively (p<0.01). Posterior ORIF was done in 40 patients (46%), 32 patients (55%), 64 patients (61%) and 9 patients (82%), respectively (p<0.01). The COR lateral migration coefficient was significantly higher in group C with a mean of +0.17 (SD 0.85) [-0.27 to +6] compared to the other groups (p=0.02). The COR superior migration coefficient was comparable between groups, with a mean of +0.77 (SD 2.26) [-0.99 to 27], p>0.05. There were complications in 10 patients (9.2%), 6 patients (8.7%), 6 patients (5.3%) and 3 patients (3.9%), respectively, with no significant difference between groups. The PROMs were completed by 51% of patients. At the final review, the mean HHS was 79.2 (SD 21.8) and the mean HOOS-PS was 77.7 (SD 20.1) in the entire cohort, p>0.05. The mean FJS by group was 55.9 (30.2), 47.7 (SD 36.4), 66.1 (SD 30.4) and 65.8 (SD 30.3), respectively (p=0.02)., Discussion and Conclusion: The B strategy (B+) yielded good outcomes in terms of function and COR restoration. When using this strategy, anterior ORIF preserves the native hip for a subsequent THA through a posterior approach. Strategy C also produces good functional outcomes but shifts the COR laterally. This study confirms the poor results of strategy A in previous publications. When the prognosis is poor, immediate mobilization after anterior ORIF followed by THA within 1year appears to be a good strategy (group B-)., Level of Evidence: IV, observational study., (Copyright © 2024 The Authors. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether the shape of the first metacarpal head influences metacarpophalangeal hyperextension, and to evaluate the influence of metacarpophalangeal hyperextension on hand pain and function in patients with trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis., Methods: 362 patients with painful basal thumb osteoarthritis were evaluated over a 2-year period. Pain rating on a visual analog scale, trapeziometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal motion, and grip and pinch strength were evaluated. The shape of the metacarpal head was assessed on strict lateral radiographs using the "A/r" ratio., Results: Round metacarpal heads had significantly greater and more frequent metacarpophalangeal hyperextension than flat heads (28° vs. 8°, and 78% vs. 29%). Metacarpophalangeal hyperextension adversely impacted trapeziometacarpal motion in antepulsion (27° vs. 32°), abduction (25° vs. 30°) and pinch strength (3.6 vs. 4.6 KgF)., Conclusion: Our findings indicate that the shape of the metacarpal head influences metacarpophalangeal hyperextension in trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis. Introduction: Mandibular advancement devices (MAD) are an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of a custom-made monoblock MAD for the treatment of OSAHS., Materials and Methods: We carried out a monocentric retrospective observational study including patients with OSAHS (mild, moderate or severe) or isolated ronchopathy from January 2005 to March 2023. The primary objective was to evaluate the overall efficiency of the MAD assessed by the percentage of patients successfully treated. The secondary objectives included the global efficiency of the device in the treatment of snoring, the report of side effects, and the identification of predictive factors for efficacy or failure., Results: The medical records of 586 patients were collected, and 293 patients (229 OSAHS and 64 isolated ronchopathy) were included in the analysis. After a mean 2.9 years follow-up, 72.5 % of patients were successfully treated by MAD. We observed a significant improvement in ronchopathy, both in terms of intensity and percentage of time per night. Regarding patients with isolated ronchopathy, 87.5 % reported an improvement in their symptoms and satisfaction with their treatment. Objective: Distraction osteogenesis is one of the treatment options in patients with severe maxillomandibular abnormalities to treat morphological and respiratory problems (obstructive sleep apnea syndrome). The study aimed to evaluate the effect of Le Fort I, II and III distraction osteogenesis (DO) on upper airway dimensions and respiratory function., Methods: Electronic search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Google Scholar and Cochrane databases. Studies that only involved two dimensional analyses were excluded. Besides, studies that performed DO in conjunction with orthognathic surgery were not considered. NIH quality assessment tool was used to evaluate the risk of bias. Meta-analyses were performed to assess sleep apnea indices and the mean differences in the airway dimensions before and after DO. Gradings of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation were used to analyze the evidence level., Results: Among the 114 studies that went under full-text analyses, 11 articles met the inclusion criteria. Results of the quantitative analyses showed that maxillary Le Fort III DO significantly increased the amounts of oropharyngeal, pharyngeal and upper airway volumes. However, apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) showed a non-significant improvement after this procedure. Besides, the dimensions of the airways increased with Le Fort I and II DO, according to a qualitative analysis. Considering the design of the included studies, our results had a low level of evidence., Conclusion: Maxillary Le Fort DO does not significantly impact AHI, while it significantly increases the airway dimensions. Introduction: Pediatric idiopathic pes planovalgus can correct itself with growth. Otherwise, in the event of functional impairment and after failed conservative treatment, surgery can be considered. Based on a multicenter retrospective study, we report the functional and radiographic results obtained after subtalar arthroereisis., Hypothesis: We hypothesized that this surgery improves functional and radiological parameters in childhood., Material and Method: Forty-eight medical records of children (78 feet) operated on between 2010 and 2019 were studied. Functional (FAOS score) and radiographic (Djian angle, calcaneal slope, lateral talocalcaneal divergence and calcaneus/M5 alignment, talonavicular coverage measurement, AP talocalcaneal divergence) results were studied. The analysis of these different criteria was carried out between the preoperative period and the last follow-up., Results: The functional outcome was satisfactory with an average FAOS questionnaire score of 95.5 out of 100 total points. All the radiographic parameters studied were significantly improved (p<0.001). The average age at the time of surgery was 11.3 years (range: 7 to 16) with a mean follow-up of 35 months (range: 18 months to 84). Spontaneous screw expulsion and subtalar pain were the main complications found., Discussion: The results obtained are consistent with those in the literature. The age at the time of the surgery is an essential factor to consider with the goal of optimal correction., Conclusion: This technique is reliable and effective in the short term. It can be offered as first-line therapy in the management of symptomatic pes planovalgus in children. The follow-up is short, which necessitates longer term studies of this population. Background: Revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be complex, and assessing possible difficulties is important to predict the operative time. No simple score for predicting difficulties has been assessed prospectively. We therefore developed an original score for the pre-operative evaluation of extraction and reconstruction difficulties. The objectives of this prospective study were to (1) assess correlations between score values and operative time, (2) determine whether the score predicted the need for revision implants and/or filling material, (3) determine whether the score predicted intra-operative and post-operative complications, and (4) evaluate the inter-observer and intra-observer reproducibility of the score., Hypothesis: The score is reproducible and correlates well with the operative time, thereby allowing prediction of this parameter before surgery., Material and Methods: A prospective study of 103 revision THA procedures performed between March 2018 and August 2023 was conducted. The primary outcome was operative time and the secondary outcomes were use of a revision implant, use of filling material, and intra-operative and post-operative complications. The score was determined by four observers to allow evaluation of inter-observer agreement. Intra-observer agreement was assessed by having one of the observers determine the score a second time after inclusion of the last patient. The score has a maximum value of 20 and allows classification of the procedure as very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult., Results: Mean operative time correlated with the score value: 136.0 ± 33.9 min in the very difficult group, 102.0 ± 34.8 min in the difficult group, and 75.4 ± 65.5 min in the moderately difficult group (p = 0.0002). The score predicted the use of a reinforcement ring (40 procedures: 12/17 [70%], 11/25 [44%], and 17/61 [28%] in the very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult groups, respectively; p = 0.01) and of a long stem (20 procedures: 8/17 [47%], 7/25 [28%], and 5/61 [8%] patients in the very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult groups, respectively; p < 0.001). The score did not predict the use of filling material (42 procedures: 10/17 [59%], 9/25 [36%], and 23/61 [37%] in the very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult groups, respectively; p = 0.250). The score predicted both intra-operative complications (5/17 [29%], 4/25 [16%], and 4/61 [6%] procedures in the very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult groups, respectively; p = 0.028) and post-operative complications (4/17 [23%], 0/25 [0%], and 6/61 [9%] in the very difficult, difficult, and moderately difficult groups, respectively; p = 0.15). Inter-observer agreement was strong according to Landis-Koch criteria, with kappa values ranging from 0.70 to 0.79 [0.57-0.90]. The kappa value for intra-observer agreement was 0.74 [0.63-0.85]., Discussion: This score predicts surgical difficulties by adding criteria to bone destruction, in contrast to widely used classifications for revision THA. Introduction: Long-term enophthalmos and diplopia resulting from orbital bone loss pose significant challenges in reconstructive surgery. This study evaluated the effectiveness of patient-specific porous titanium implants (PSIs) for addressing these conditions., Materials and Methods: This retrospective study involved 12 patients treated at Croix-Rousse Hospital, Lyon, from April 2015 to April 2022 who underwent late reconstruction via PSI for unilateral complex orbital bone loss. These implants were customized via 3D mirroring techniques on the basis of high-resolution computed tomography (CT) scans of the patients' unaffected orbits., Results: All 12 patients presented with significant preoperative enophthalmos, with an average displacement of 3.24 mm, which was effectively corrected postoperatively to an average of 0.17 mm (p < 0.001). Orbital volume notably improved from a preoperative average of 3.38 mL to 0.37 mL postsurgery (p < 0.001). Functional improvements were evident as both enophthalmos and diplopia resolved completely. Background: Etiology of hip osteoarthritis (OA) and survival of hip arthroplasty in the young (below 40-years-old) remains poorly described. Furthermore, joint survivorship mid to long-term and PROMs according to the etiology are unclear. The study aims were to 1) identify the indications for arthroplasty in the below 40-years-old cohort; 2) define hip arthroplasty outcomes in the young and 3) test whether patients with sequelae of pediatrics hip disease have inferior outcome compared to other patients., Hypothesis: Our hypothesis was that hip arthroplasty is a viable option for managing hip disease in patients under 40, with excellent survival rates and outcomes., Material and Methods: This is an IRB approved, retrospective, consecutive, multi-surgeon, cohort study from a single academic center. Indication for hip arthroplasty of 346 patients (410 hips) below 40-years-old were studied; 239 underwent THA (58%) and 171 hip resurfacing (42%). Patient, surgical and implant factors were tested for association with implant survivorship and functional outcome for hip arthroplasty performed with a follow-up of more than two years. Pediatric hip sequelae patients were compared for survival and PROMs with the rest of the cohort., Results: The most common etiology of OA was FAI (47%), followed by pediatric hip sequelae (18%). The 10-year survivorship was 97.2% ± 1.2, mean OHS was 45.1 ± 6.3 and mean HHS was 93.4 ± 12.6. The pediatric hip sequelae subgroup demonstrated no differences in 10-year survivorship and better PROMs compared to rest (OHS: 46.6 ± 3.8; HHS: 96.0 ± 8.5)., Discussion: The most common aetiologies amongst the young with hip OA is FAI and pediatric hip sequelae. Background and Research Question: S. maltophilia infections are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Little is known regarding its presentation, management, and outcome in lung transplant recipients., Study Design and Methods: This retrospective case control study reviewed S. maltophilia respiratory tract infection in lung transplant recipients (01/01/2011-31/01/2020) and described the clinical, microbiological and outcome characteristics matched with lung transplant recipients without respiratory tract infection., Results and Interpretation: We identified 63 S. maltophilia infections in lung transplant recipients. Among them none were colonized before transplantation. Infections occurred a median of 177 (IQR: 45- 681) days post transplantation. Fifty-four (85.7 %) patients received trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (400/80 mg three times a week) to prevent Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP). S. maltophilia strains were susceptible to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, levofloxacin, minocycline and ceftazidime in respectively 85.7 %, 82.5 %, 96.8 % and 34.9 % of cases. Median duration of treatment was 9 days (IQR 7-11.5). Clinical and microbiological recurrence were observed in respectively 25.3 % and 39.7 % of cases. Combination therapy was not associated with a decrease in the risk of recurrence and did not prevent the emergence of resistance. S. maltophilia respiratory tract infection was associated with a decline in FEV-1 at one year., Conclusion: S. maltophilia is an important cause of lower respiratory tract infection in lung transplant recipients. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole use as prophylaxis for PJP doesn't prevent S. maltophilia infection among lung transplant recipients. Objective: To determine the indications for neck dissection in the management of parotid, submandibular or minor salivary gland cancers depending on the clinical situation: i.e., clinical lymph node involvement (cN+) or not (cN0); low or high risk of occult nodal metastasis; diagnosis of malignancy before, during or after surgery., Material and Methods: The French Network of Rare Head and Neck Tumors (REFCOR) formed a steering group which drafted a narrative review of the literature published on Medline and proposed recommendations. The level of adherence to the recommendations was then assessed by a rating group according to the formal consensus method., Results: In cN+ salivary gland cancer, ipsilateral neck dissection is recommended. In cN0 salivary gland cancer, ipsilateral neck dissection is recommended, except for tumors at low risk of occult nodal metastasis. If definitive pathology reveals a high risk of occult nodal involvement, additional neck treatment is recommended: ipsilateral neck dissection or elective nodal irradiation., Conclusion: The rate of occult lymph node involvement, and therefore the indication for elective neck dissection, depends primarily on the pathologic grade of the salivary gland cancer., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Masson SAS.
