A novel ultrasound-assisted magnetic solid-phase extraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (US-MSPE-GC/MS) was developed to detect trace amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in tomato paste, using a magnetic biochar adsorbent derived from nectarine cores. The highest extraction recovery was attained under 10 mg adsorbent mass, 30 min extraction time, 9 % ( w / v ) sodium chloride, and elution with 200 μL of dichloromethane. Under optimum conditions, the method demonstrated excellent linearity (R 2  > 0.992) across a wide concentration range (0.01-100 ng g -1 ) with high sensitivity (LODs: 0.028-0.053 ng g -1 , LOQs: 0.094-0.176 ng g -1 ) and good repeatability (RSDs <5.96 %). The application of the US-MSPE-GC/MS method was tested on four brands of real tomato paste and no PAHs were detected in unspiked samples, indicating no background contamination. Background and Objective: The Covid-19 pandemic could compromise the quality of care by impacting nurses' intention to provide care. Hence, investigating nurses' behavioral intentions when caring for patients during epidemics is essential. This research aims to assess the psychometrics of the "Nursing Care Behavior in Epidemics of Emerging Diseases" questionnaire, based on the constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior., Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 311 nurses working in Covid-19 wards of selected hospitals in Ilam City, all of whom were enrolled through a census in 2021. The questionnaire underwent initial translation from English to Persian, followed by evaluations of its face, content, and construct validities. The nursing caring behavior questionnaire, comprising 46 items, was designed to assess behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs, control beliefs, behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and nurses' intentions to care for Covid-19 patients. Data were analyzed for face, content, and construct validity using the Theory of Planned Behavior and Pearson correlation. Reliability was determined by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient., Results: The intention to care dimension demonstrated an inverse correlation with the behavioral attitude dimension (p < 0.001). The most robust correlations were observed between the following paired dimensions: behavioral attitude and perceived power (p < 0.001), subjective norms and intention to care (p < 0.001), perceived behavioral control and subjective norms (p < 0.001), care intention and behavioral beliefs (p < 0.001), behavioral beliefs and behavioral outcome evaluation (p < 0.001), and normative beliefs with motivation to comply (p = 0.001). Background and Objective: Although several studies have assessed the effect of folate supplementation on lipid profiles among patients with metabolic diseases, findings are inconsistent. This review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to summarize the evidence on the effects of folate supplementation on lipid profiles among patients with metabolic diseases., Methods: Randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) published in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Library databases up to until 20 August 2017 were searched. Two review authors independently assessed study eligibility, extracted data, and evaluated risk of bias of included studies. Heterogeneity was measured with a Q-test and with I 2 statistics. Data were pooled by using the fix or random-effect model based on the heterogeneity test results and expressed as standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI)., Results: A total of thirteen randomized controlled trials were included. Folate supplementation did not affect systolic blood pressure (SMD -0.87; 95% CI, -1.83, 0.09) and diastolic blood pressure (SMD -0.59; 95% CI, -1.55, 0.37), and lipid profiles including triglycerides (SMD 0.10; 95% CI, -0.42, 0.63), total- (SMD 0.06; 95% CI, -0.31, 0.43), HDL- (SMD 0.04; 95% CI, -0.36, 0.44), VLDL- (SMD 0.08; 95% CI, -0.24, 0.41), and LDL-cholesterol (SMD -0.14; 95% CI, -0.55, 0.28)., Conclusions: Folate supplementation did not affect blood pressures and lipid profiles among patients with metabolic diseases. Additional prospective studies regarding the impact of folate supplementation on blood pressures and lipid profiles in patients with metabolic diseases are necessary., (Copyright © 2017 Diabetes India.
