Background: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are vulnerable to some psychological disorders. Here we describe the psychological impact of a COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in patients with IBD., Methods: This multicenter prospective cohort study included 145 patients recently diagnosed with IBD. Data on clinical and demographic characteristics, anxiety and depression scales, and IBD activity were collected in two telephone surveys, during and after the first COVID-19 lockdown in Spain. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated., Results: During lockdown, 33.1% and 24.1% scored high on the anxiety and depression scales, respectively. Independent factors related to anxiety (all values ORs; 95% CIs) during lockdown were female sex (2; 1.2-5.4) and IBD activity (4.3; 1.8-10.4). Factors related to depression were comorbidity (3.3; 1.1-9.8), IBD activity (6; 1.9-18.1), use of biologics (2.9; 1.1-7.6), and living alone or with one person (3.1; 1.2-8.2). After lockdown, anxiety and depression symptoms showed significant improvement, with 24.8% and 15.2% having high scores for anxiety and depression, respectively. Factors related to post-lockdown anxiety were female sex (2.5; 1.01-6.3), Crohn's disease (3.3; 1.3-8.5), and active IBD (4.1; 1.2-13.7). Factors associated with depression were previous history of mood and/or anxiety disorders (6.3; 1.6-24.9), active IBD (7.5; 2.1-26.8), and steroid use (6.4; 1.4-29)., Conclusions: Lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant psychological impact in patients with IBD. Objective: To identify Spanish funded paediatric research published in general paediatric journals included in the Web of Science (WoS) from 2010 to 2014) and those published in the Anales de Pediatría. To examine the relationship between funding and the prestige of the journals. To describe the journal conditions to meet the open access criteria., Material and Method: Spanish funded paediatric articles (FA) were identified by using the WoS Funding Agency field, and by reviewing the original documents for the Anales de Pediatria (AP). For the FA published in AP the number and kind of funding agencies were identified. The possible differences in citations between FA and non-funded was assessed for articles published in this journal using the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. For general journals, the patterns of distribution of FA and non-FA were investigated according to the quartile of the journal. The journal's self-archiving conditions were described using Sherpa/romeo database., Results: Funding was received for 27.5%, being 16.6% for those published in AP. In these, 105 funding agencies were identified, with 80% being national. The FA published in AP did not receive significantly more citations. In general journals, the presence of FA is greater in Q1 and Q2 journals. More than half (56%) of articles were published in subscription journals. All journals that publish FA allow self-archiving in repositories, but with embargos of at least 12 months., Conclusions: The role of AP in the dissemination of FA is still limited. Embargos in self-archiving permits compliance of Spanish open access mandate, but may hinder compliance in Europe., (Copyright © 2016 Asociación Española de Pediatría. Objective: To describe the role of Anales de Pediatría in highlighting Spanish paediatric research, and to identify the journals with which it competes internationally., Material and Method: Spanish paediatric articles, including those from Anales de Pediatría were identified using the Paediatrics category of the Science Citation Index (2010-2014), and their volume and document type was analysed. For original articles and review articles, the year, the citation and journal of publication was studied. The journals were classified as general and specialised. The productivity of general journals was analysed according to their language, JCR quartile, and article access., Results: A total of 2,701 Spanish paediatric papers were identified, accounting for 2.8% of the paediatrics world output. More than two-thirds (68%) of papers were articles that received an average number of 4.97 citations per article. The 965 papers published in Anales de Pediatría accounted for 38.7% of the Spanish paediatric output, and for 1% of the paediatric world publications. A mean of 1.03 citations per article were received for 439 (45.4%) articles and reviews. Of the 106 journals identified, 82 were classified as specialised (1,196 articles) and 24 as general (741 articles). Anales de Pediatría published 60% of the articles in general journals. The rest of articles (309) were published in general journals published in English (82.8%), with a best position in the JCR ranking (83.4%) and mainly by subscription (73.8%)., Conclusions: Anales de Pediatría plays an important role in providing international visibility to a large volume of Spanish scientific production in paediatrics. The results presented are a still only a snapshot of this role that could be used in the near future for assessing its evolution and the changes that could be made in order to improve its quality, positioning and competitiveness., (Copyright © 2015 Asociación Española de Pediatría. Objectives: To examine whether there is adequate available information in hospital discharge records (HDR) to retrospectively evaluate the adequacy of medical care to patients suffering from ischemic heart disease (IHD) and to relate care quality to physicians' decisions., Material and Methods: Cross-sectional study in which a total of 690 HDRs of patients admitted to three university teaching hospitals in Seville, Spain, on account of ischemic heart disease. The fulfillment of 15 parameters representing an adaptation to the CMBD regulation to IHD. The criterion of adequate information was set at 80% of data., Results: Only 2.8% of HDRs contains adequate information. According to the analysed data, relevant fulfillment variability was observed. There were significant differences in fulfillment depending upon hospital and type of patient, with more information among younger patients and comorbidity., Conclusions: HDRs contain inadequate information to evaluate medical care.

Objective: To examine the availability of information in the clinical records (CR) to evaluate care quality in ischemic heart disease., Material and Methods: A total of 722 clinical records of patients admitted because of ischemic heart disease were evaluated. Based upon a bibliographic review and the criteria of an expert panel necessary data to evaluate care quality were selected. A CR was considered adequate when at least 80% of data considered necessary by the expert panel were available., Results: 78.5% of CR had adequate data. The elderly, clinical presentation as ischemic equivalent and one of the hospitals studied had most deficient CR., Conclusions: The CR is valid to retrospectively evaluate medical care. Differences between hospitals were important and should be taken into consideration before studies on clinical quality are performed.

Objective: To analize the number, characteristics and content of the articles on quality evaluation of health records and information systems published by Spanish authors in biomedical journals (1983-1992)., Material and Methods: Sources were IME and MEDLINE databases, journal summaries and bibliographies from the retrieved items. Originals or review articles and communications were included. Variables analyzed were: publication date; kind of document; coauthorship number; authors/items ratio; institutions where the authors work; journal of publication. The content analysis included the main aspects studied and the kind of document or system investigated., Results: 87 documents were retrieved, 74 being original papers and 13 communications. Along the period a gradual growth was observed and a maximum was reached in 1991 with 18 items. The total number of authors was 370, 5 authors with three or more items. The maximum number of items per author was 6. The ratio authors/items was 4.1. The most productive institutions were hospitals and governmental centers. Twenty four different journals were identified, 5 publishing the 74.4% of papers. 61 (82.4%) of the 74 articles correspond to evaluative research and 13 (17.6%) dealt with questions related with quality but were not evaluative researches. The questions more frequently evaluated in the 61 articles were the completeness of data in clinical records (22 articles); the accuracy of data recorded in the documents used for death certification (7 articles) and the accuracy of data recorded in the Hospital Patient's Logbook (5 articles)., Discussion: An increase of scientific production in this field and its concentration in a reduced number of magazines has taken place in Spain in the past few years of study. The content in most of the articles is about formal aspects of clinic and sanitary information.

Objectives: To describe a systematic procedure for exhaustive retrieval of Spanish articles about evaluation or health information systems (1983-1992); to analyze the useful terms, the item contribution and the retrieval failures of the sources., Methods: As sources for identification of articles, data base Indice Médico Español (IME), contents of journals and references of the retrieved items have been used. As analysis variables, coincidence of terms in search profile, item's titles and key words; item contribution, specific contribution and overlap indexes; hindsight analysis of failures., Results: 94 items have been retrieved, 83 of them have, at least one term related with the subject. Referred to sources contribution, IME gives 74 items; journal contents 75 and references 33. Specific contribution of IME was 16 items, contents 12 and references 2. Overlap between sources was 25.5%., Conclusion: The three sources are complementary. Complete retrieval of the literature requires systematic use of the abstracts and references of the papers, where the perception of its contents are less dependent of the terms used in the titles.

The case of a 42-year-old woman with no previous disease admitted for abdominal pain and ascites is presented. Analysis of the ascitic fluid demonstrated high concentrations of amylase with normal lipase. The diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma was obtained by laparotomy. This association has not been previously described. The authors suggest that this diagnostic possibility should be considered in patients without pancreatic disease and high amylase levels in ascitic fluid.
