Abstract

We explore theories of dark matter in which dark matter annihilations produce mono-energetic gamma rays ("lines") in the context of effective field theory, which captures the physics for cases in which the particles mediating the interaction are somewhat heavier than the dark matter particle itself. Building on earlier work, we explore the generic signature resulting from SU(2)xU(1) gauge invariance that two (or more) lines are generically expected, and determine the expected relative intensities, including the possibility of interference between operators., Comment: 11 pages, 0 figures

Abstract

This brief review outlines some of the most attractive theoretical motivations for particle dark matter, and illustrates how they fit into the bigger context of physics beyond the Standard Model. Particular emphasis is given to the generic properties of theories of dark matter, and how the mechanism by which it interacts with the Standard Model particles influences its phenomenology. Brief descriptions of the most popular models, including supersymmetric theories and theories with universal extra dimensions are discussed.

With the LHC up and running, the focus of experimental and theoretical high energy physics will soon turn to an interpretation of LHC data in terms of the physics of electroweak symmetry breaking and the TeV scale. We present here a broad review of models for new TeV-scale physics and their LHC signatures. In addition, we discuss possible new physics signatures and describe how they can be linked to specific models of physics beyond the Standard Model. Abstract

In four–generation models Higgs masses of 115–315 GeV are perfectly allowed by electroweak precision data. In this mass range we find dramatic effects on Higgs phenomenology at hadron colliders: production rates are enhanced, weak–boson–fusion channels are suppressed, angular distributions are modified, Higgs pairs can be observed, and Higgs decays to Majorana neutrinos can lead to exotic signals.

Abstract

The large mass of the top quark, the only fermion to have a mass of the order of the electroweak scale, makes its study very important. This large mass implies that top is important for precision electroweak physics in the Standard Model, and it may be the first indication that physics beyond the Standard Model may be evident in the detailed properties of top. This report, one of the plenary talks at the HCP 2007 conference, summarizes our understanding of the top quark as of the year 2007, and shows how the current run II of the Fermilab Tevatron and the future planned CERN LHC experiments will, through detailed specific measurements, greatly improve our understanding of the top quark.

Abstract

This document a59Summary of the discussions and conclusions following from Dark Matter @ LHC 2014, held at Merton College, Oxford, on September 25-27, 2014. outlines a set of simplified models for dark matter and its interactions with Standard Model particles. It is intended to summarize the main characteristics that these simplified models have when applied to dark matter searches at the LHC, and to provide a number of useful expressions for reference. The list of models includes both s-channel and t-channel scenarios. For s-channel, spin-0 and spin-1 mediations are discussed, and also realizations where the Higgs particle provides a portal between the dark and visible sectors. The guiding principles underpinning the proposed simplified models are spelled out, and some suggestions for implementation are presented.
