As a kind of energy storage device, supercapacitors have attracted the attention of researchers, and the development of high-performance electrode materials is also the focus of attention. In this paper, template synthesis and pyrolysis were combined to prepare high performance porous carbon electrode materials. The carbonized electrode material effectively increased the capacitance storage capacity and charge transfer rate. The results revealed that the derivative had a relatively low charge-transfer resistance and high specific capacitance of 1059 F·g−1 at a current density of 1.0 A·g−1 in a three-electrode system. To further exploring practical application, a device based on the derivative and hemp-activated carbon asymmetric supercapacitor was assembled in 0.1 M Na2SO4 neutral electrolyte, which exhibited an energy density of 20.35 Wh·kg−1 at a power density of 400 W·kg−1. Interestingly, it showed capability retention of nearly of 91.7% and columbic efficiency of 100% even after 10000 charging/discharging cycles in the neutral electrolyte.

We created a simple electrodeposition method of preparing Ni3S2 nanosheets deposited on 3D hemp-activated carbon supported by a Ni foam. We selected three optimized deposition cycles because of high capacitances of 3D hemp-activated carbon/Ni3S2 electrodes (2,797.43 F g−1 at 1 A g−1) in a 6 M KOH solution. Meanwhile, the capacitances' retention rate is 82.13%, indicating an excellent cyclic stability. To evaluate the further performance of 3D hemp-activated carbon/Ni3S2 electrodes materials in a full cell, the self-assembled all-solid-state supercapacitors device 3D hemp-activated carbon//3D hemp-activated carbon-Ni3S2 have the energy density of 55.32 Wh kg−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, and a great cycle ability (it retain approximately 83.47% of the initial capacitance after 10,000 charge/discharge cycles).

The T9W is a variant of pig myeloid antimicrobial peptide-36 (PMAP 36) that displays efficient and specific activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It may represent a promising agent for anti-pseudomonas therapies, so a large quantity of T9W is needed for pharmacological study and clinical use. Recombinant T9W was successfully produced by Bacillus subtilis WB800 N using the maltose-inducible promoter Pglv. After 36 h of induction by 5% maltose, 6×His-SUMO-T9W was directly secreted into culture medium. Then, 6×His-SUMO-T9W was purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography, and then 32 mg/L of fusion peptide was obtained. Then, the purified 6×His-SUMO-T9W was digested by SUMO protease, thus releasing the recombinant T9W. Recombinant T9W showed high antimicrobial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and extremely weak activity against other gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium) and gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus). When the concentration of recombinant T9W reached the maximum (256 μM), no hemolytic activity was observed. Recombinant T9W has similar activity to synthetic T9W. These results suggested that this method provided an economical and environmentally friendly approach to producing anti-pseudomonas agent T9W in Bacillus subtilis.

This paper is the first study of the application of non-metallic element modified metal-organic frameworks in supercapacitors. Three-dimensional metal-organic frameworks modified by non-metallic element have a novel flower cluster structure, which effectively improve the structural stability and the electrochemical performance of the supercapacitors. The electrochemical performances of the materials modified by the vulcanizing agent are particularly significant with a high specific capacitance of 1453.5F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1 and excellent cycle stability (retention rate of 89.23% after 5000 cycles). In addition, the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor S@Ni-MOF//AC also shows a high energy density of 56.85 Wh kg−1 at power density of 480 W kg−1 and good cycle stability with a capacitance retention of 86.67% after 20,000 cycles at current density 5 A g−1. As a result, metal-organic frameworks materials modified by the non-metallic element make up for the crystal defects, which can be used as promising electrode materials for practical applications.

In this work, a Co-ZIF material and the derived nanoporous cobalt-rich carbons by direct carbonization of this Co-ZIF material were synthesized and used as electrode materials for supercapacitors. This ZIF material exhibited a high specific capacitance of 160.3 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, an excellent rate capability (73.72 F g−1 at 10 A g−1), and a good cycling stability with 100% of its initials specific capacitance after 8000 cycles. In addition, the obtained derived nanoporous carbons displayed ideal capacitor behaviors and were promising electroactive materials for supercapacitors at low current density. The nanoporous carbon obtained at 650 °C possessed a highest specific capacitance of 393 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and a wide potential application range of −1.0–0.33 V. In addition, a symmetric supercapacitor device consisting of Z-C-650 and activated carbon exhibited a maximum energy density of 61.23 Wh Kg−1 at a power density of 700 W kg−1 and predicted that Z-C-650 could be used as a potential energy storage material.

Polygonatum sibiricum, known as "Huangjing" in Chinese traditional medicine, of which functions include invigorating Qi and nourishing Yin, tonifying spleen and kidney, which are considered to replenish energy, and strengthen immunity. However, both the active components and mechanism of the immune-enhancing effect of Polygonatum sibiricum have not been clarified. To evaluate the immunoregulation effects of PSE30 (Polygonatum sibiricum ethanol 30) and PSE75 (Polygonatum sibiricum ethanol 75). The gut microbial and activation of RAW264.7 cells were also evaluated for exploring the mechanism of PSE75.Female ICR mice were randomly divided into different groups, which were pretreated with 0.9% saline, Yupingfeng granules, different dosage of PSE30 or PSE75. And the immunosuppressed mice model was constructed using cyclophosphamide. And the total duration of the experiment was 15 d. After that, the serum Immunoglobulins G (IgG) and Immunoglobulins M (IgM) antibody, regular blood testing, assessment of natural killer cell activity, and histological observation of spleen in immunosuppressed mice were measured to evaluate the immunoregulation effects of PSE30 and PSE75. Besides, effects of PSE75 on gut microbial were evaluated using 16s rRNA sequence. And the mRNA expression and cytokine secretion of RAW264.7 cell were evaluated to analyze the immunoregulation mechanism of PSE75.The content of serum IgG, IgM was significantly elevated by PSE75 (P<0.05, P<0.001). The NK cells killing activity in splenocytes against K562 cells induced by PSE30, and PSE75 was pronounced higher than that of the model group (P 0.05). Both mRNA expression of Th1 molecular markers including interleukin (IL)-2, interferon (IFN)-γ, and signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) 4, and Th2 molecular markers including IL-4 in splenocytes were markedly enhanced by PSE30, and PSE75 (P 0.05, P 0.01, or P 0.001). Besides, the result of 16s rRNA sequence indicated that PSE75 could recover the gut microbial community disturbed by cyclophosphamide. PSE75 could markedly promote the secretion of IL-6, IL-10, and IL-12 p40 from RAW264.7 cell (P<0.01, or P<0.001).PSE75 was proved to be a more promising immunomodulation agent, of which may enhance the immunity of immunosuppressed mice by improving gut microbial and activating macrophages. And PSE75 could be developed as a good immune booster in the future.

Three water-soluble polysaccharide fractions (GSP-1, GSP-2 and GSP-3) were obtained from Gentiana scabra Bunge roots by DEAE-Sepharose CL-6B and Sepharose CL-6B column chromatography. Their chemical characterizations were determined by high performance gel permeation chromatography (HPGPC), high performance anion exchange chromatography coupled with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAEC-PAD) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer. Moreover, their in vitro anticoagulant activities were evaluated by activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT) and prothrombin time (PT) assays. GSP-1 and GSP-2 were composed of rhamnose, arabinose, galactose, glucose and galacturonic acid, while GSP-3 consisted of rhamnose, arabinose, galactose and galacturonic acid with a weight-average molecular weight of 5.8×10(4)Da. In comparison with the control group (saline), GSP, GSP-1, GSP-2 and GSP-3 could prolong APTT and TT, but not PT. Overall, GSP-3 exhibited potent anticoagulant activity and would be expected to be a potential source of anticoagulant.

The heating rate during solution treatment exerted great influence on the final grain structure of AA 7075 alloy processed by thermo-mechanical treatment (TMT). In case of rapid heating rate, particle-stimulated nucleation (PSN) of recrystallization occurred and fine equi-axed structure with an average grain size of ~9 μm was obtained. On the contrary, when a slow heating rate was adopted, the resulting recrystallized grains were rather coarse and elongated (average grain length > 100 μm). After peak-ageing treatment, the mechanical property and corrosion resistance of 7075 sheets were closely associated with those grain structures. Specifically, two kinds of sheets exhibited equivalent strength while the ductility of fine-grained sample is considerably increased to 18.5%, 49% higher than that (12.4%) of coarse-grained sheet. Meanwhile, inter-granular corrosion (IGC) and exfoliation corrosion (EXCO) tests certify that the fine-grained sheet exhibited significantly enhanced corrosion resistance. Effective grain refinement induced by rapid solution treatment accounts for the notable increment in both ductility and corrosion resistance. Our results demonstrate that the comprehensive properties of 7000 alloys might be tailored by adopting proper heating rate when the alloys are subjected to solution treatment.

Two-dimensional metal-organic frameworks and nanoflowers of the MoS2 form a composite structure as an electrode material for high-performance supercapacitor application. MoS2 expands in the accordion-type Ni-MOF layers, and -S- joins the two materials to form a Ni-MOF coating MoS2 composite structure. The composite material MoS2@Ni-MOF combines the structural characteristics of the Ni-MOF and MoS2, and effectively improves the electrochemical performance. The basic skeleton structure of the MoS2@Ni-MOF material remains unchanged, showing a remarkable specific capacitance of 1590.24 F·g−1 at a current density of 1.0 A·g−1 and an excellent cycle stability (retention rate of 87.97% after 20,000 cycles at current of 5.0 A·g−1). Due to the special composite structure of MoS2@Ni-MOF, the as-assembled MoS2@Ni-MOF//AC assymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device exhibits a maximum energy density of 72.93 Wh·kg−1 at a power density of 375 W·Kg−1. These excellent electrochemical properties indicate that the MoS2@Ni-MOF has potential applications in energy storage devices.

Background In recent years, codeine-containing cough syrups (CCS) have been reported as substances of abuse, especially in adolescents. Chronic CCS abuse can induce physical and psychological dependence. However, the potential brain impairment caused by chronic CCS abuse has not been reported previously. The present study was designed to determine if the striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) levels measured by 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) brain scans were altered in CCS-dependent subjects and to explore the CCS-caused brain impairment. Methods SPECT brain scans were acquired on 22 CCS-dependent subjects and 27 healthy age matched controls. The volume ( V ) and weight ( W ) of bilateral corpus striatum as well as the 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 uptake ratio of corpus striatum/the whole brain (Ra) were calculated using mathematical models. Results It was displayed that DAT availability of striatum was significantly decreased and the V , W and Ra were greatly reduced in the CCS-dependent group compared to controls (for each comparison p Conclusion Taken together, these results suggest that chronic CCS abuse may cause serious damage to the brain and the neuroimaging findings further illustrate the mechanism of CCS dependence.
