Pd-WO3/C ternary hybrid was designed as a high-efficient catalyst towards formic acid electrooxidation. WO3/C hybrids were first prepared with two different synthesis order, and then used as the supports to synthesize two kinds of Pd-WO3/C catalysts by a quick and facile microwave-assisted ethylene glycol method. Compared with Pd/C, the catalytic performances of two Pd-WO3/C catalysts towards formic acid electrooxidation are significantly enhanced. We elected the better synthesis order and optimized the best proportion of WO3 and C in the hybrid catalyst. When the mass content of WO3 is 20% of the mass of the support, Pd nanoparticles with narrower particle size distribution are more uniformly dispersed on the surface of WO3/C support than the other counterparts, resulting in the highest performance in terms of activity and stability towards formic acid oxidation among all the samples. The reasons for the performance improvement may be: first, Pd nanoparticles in Pd-WO3/C catalysts are of small size and evenly distributed; second, there may be the catalyst-support interaction between Pd and WO3, substantially improving the catalytic capability of Pd-WO3/C catalysts; finally, the hydrogen spillover effect produced by WO3 significantly expedites the dehydrogenation of formic acid on the surface of Pd-WO3/C.

The human body has a remarkable ability to regulate inflammation, a biophysical response triggered by virus infection and tissue damage. Sirt6 is critical for metabolism and lifespan; however, its role in inflammation is unknown. Here we show that Sirt6-null (Sirt6(-/-)) mice developed chronic liver inflammation starting at ∼2 months of age, and all animals were affected by 7-8 months of age. Deletion of Sirt6 in T cells or myeloid-derived cells was sufficient to induce liver inflammation and fibrosis, albeit to a lesser degree than that in the global Sirt6(-/-) mice, suggesting that Sirt6 deficiency in the immune cells is the cause. Consistently, macrophages derived from the bone marrow of Sirt6(-/-) mice showed increased MCP-1, IL-6, and TNFα expression levels and were hypersensitive to LPS stimulation. Mechanistically, SIRT6 interacts with c-JUN and deacetylates histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9) at the promoter of proinflammatory genes whose expression involves the c-JUN signaling pathway. Sirt6-deficient macrophages displayed hyperacetylation of H3K9 and increased occupancy of c-JUN in the promoter of these genes, leading to their elevated expression. These data suggest that Sirt6 plays an anti-inflammatory role in mice by inhibiting c-JUN-dependent expression of proinflammatory genes.

ObjectiveTo compare the effects on the body surface of different kinds of placebo/sham acupuncture with that of traditional needling sensation acupuncture.MethodsPoint Neiguan (PC 6) of 29 healthy subjects, 19 males and 10 females, was stimulated with needling sensation, shallow, placebo and deep acupuncture at the non-acupoint. After stimulation with different methods of acupuncture, the change in perfusion of the micrangium in the skin surface around the elbow joint, with Point Quze (PC 3) as its center, was observed with laser Doppler blood-flow imaging.ResultsJudging from the absolute value of perfusion of the skin surface micrangium, several methods of acupuncture can cause change in blood flow. The ratio of blood-flow perfusion in the meridian area in and around Quze declined before and after needling insertion in needling sensation acupuncture and shallow acupuncture. This observation did not occur in placebo and non-acupoint acupuncture. Resveratrol (RSV) is a naturally occurring polyphenol that has been found to exert antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. However, how RSV exerts its beneficial health effects remains largely unknown. Here, we show that RSV inhibits insulin- and leucine-stimulated mTOR signaling in C2C12 fibroblasts via a Sirt1-independent mechanism. Treating C2C12 cells with RSV dramatically inhibited insulin-stimulated Akt, S6 kinase, and 4E-BP1 phosphorylation but had little effect on tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor and activation of the p44/42 MAPK signaling pathway. RSV treatment also partially blocked mTOR and S6 kinase phosphorylation in TSC1/2-deficient mouse embryonic fibroblasts, suggesting the presence of an inhibitory site downstream of TSC1/2. Knocking out PDK1 or suppressing AMP-activated protein kinase had little effect on leucine-stimulated mTOR signaling. On the other hand, RSV significantly increased the association between mTOR and its inhibitor, DEPTOR. Furthermore, the inhibitory effect of RSV on leucine-stimulated mTOR signaling was greatly reduced in cells in which the expression levels of DEPTOR were suppressed by RNAi. Taken together, our studies reveal that RSV inhibits leucine-stimulated mTORC1 activation by promoting mTOR/DEPTOR interaction and thus uncover a novel mechanism by which RSV negatively regulates mTOR activity.

SummaryUnder various conditions, mammals have the ability to maintain serum glucose concentration within a narrow range. SIRT1 plays an important role in regulating gluconeogenesis and fat metabolism; however, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we show that SIRT1 forms a complex with FOXO3a and NRF1 on the SIRT6 promoter and positively regulates expression of SIRT6, which, in turn, negatively regulates glycolysis, triglyceride synthesis, and fat metabolism by deacetylating histone H3 lysine 9 in the promoter of many genes involved in these processes. Liver-specific deletion of SIRT6 in mice causes profound alterations in gene expression, leading to increased glycolysis, triglyceride synthesis, reduced β oxidation, and fatty liver formation. Human fatty liver samples exhibited significantly lower levels of SIRT6 than did normal controls. Thus, SIRT6 plays a critical role in fat metabolism and may serve as a therapeutic target for treating fatty liver disease, the most common cause of liver dysfunction in humans.

The synthetic paper was tested by anion detector, SEM, AFM, etc. Tensile strength, elongation at break, right angle tear strength of the polypropylene synthetic paper reached the GB 13022 or QB/T1130 Standard. The synthetic paper was water and oil resistance, and released anions 10,530 cm −3 . It was environment-friendly, and a kind of good material for human's health.

In mammalian spermatogenesis, the X and Y chromosomes are transcriptionally silenced during the pachytene stage of meiotic prophase (meiotic sex chromosome inactivation, MSCI), forming a condensed chromatin domain termed the sex or XY body [1–3]. The nucleosomal core histone H2AX is phosphorylated within the XY chromatin domain just prior to MSCI, and it has been hypothesized that this triggers the chromatin condensation and transcriptional repression [4, 5]. Here, we show that the kinase ATR localizes to XY chromatin at the onset of MSCI and that this localization is disrupted in mice with a mutant form of the tumor suppressor protein BRCA1. In the mutant pachytene cells, ATR is usually present at nonsex chromosomal sites, where it colocalizes with aberrant sites of H2AX phosphorylation; in these cells, there is MSCI failure. In rare pachytene cells, ATR does locate to XY chromatin, H2AX is then phosphorylated, a sex body forms, and MSCI ensues. These observations highlight an important role for BRCA1 in recruiting the kinase ATR to XY chromatin at the onset of MSCI and provide compelling evidence that it is ATR that phosphorylates H2AX and triggers MSCI.

Objective To investigate and compare the effects of Electrothermal Bian-stone moxibustion and traditional box-moxibustion on capillary blood perfusion in the body surface. Methods Twenty healthy subjects, 18 females and 2 males, aged averagely 36 years, were enrolled in this experiment. The traditional box-moxibustion and electrothermal Bian-stone moxibustion were respectively given on the hypogastrium around Guanyuan (CV 4), and the changes of local capillary blood perfusion in the body surface were investigated with Laser Doppler Perfusion Imaging (LDPI). Results The traditional box-moxibustion was superior to the electrothermal Bian-stone moxibustion in the transient increasing effect in whole body and the long-term increasing effect in the local area of moxibustion on capillary blood perfusion; but for both methods, the increasing effect on the capillary blood perfusion in the local area of moxibustion was same. Conclusion Electrothermal Bian-stone moxibustion can not completely take the place of the traditional box-moxibustion; but for some disorders with local pain, they possibly have the same effects.
