Background Approximately 25% of people with diabetes will experience diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) during their lifetime. The present study was designed to determine the type of microorganisms isolated from the DFUs and their antibiotic resistance pattern, and to determine predisposing factors contributing to antibiotic resistance at the authors’ wound care clinic in Qazvin, Iran. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from May to December 2017. One specimen for microbiological studies was obtained from the deep tissue. All demographic, clinical, and laboratory data and results of ulcer culture were collected for each case. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing to different agents was carried out using the disc diffusion method. A p value Results 95 aerobic microorganisms were isolated from 105 specimens. Among Gram-positive and negative bacteria, Staphylococcus spp. and Escherichia (E). coli were the most frequent organisms isolated, respectively. Multidrug resistant (MDR) organisms constituted up to 48.4%, with 37.5% of isolated Enterococcus spp. being VRE, 48.8% of Staphylococcus spp. being methicillin-resistant, 77.8% of isolated E. coli being ESBL and 66.7% of isolated Pseudomonas being MDR. The minimum and maximum prevalence of resistance in Gram-negative bacteria were 17.6% and 87.5% for imipenem and ceftazidime, respectively. The prevalence of Gram-negative bacilli was higher in older patients (p value = 0.039) and rose markedly in patients with a higher number of hospitalizations (p value = 0.015). Conclusion Due to emergence of antibiotic resistance pathogens, culture specimens and antibiotic sensitivity testing are essential for correct management of the DFU infections and the selection of appropriate antibiotics.

This data article investigates cadmium removal efficiency using garbage ash as a cheap and effective adsorbent. Influence of different parameters, such as initial cadmium (II) concentration (mg/L), contact time (min), adsorbent dose (gr/L), pH and temperature (°C) were investigated. The characterization data of the garbage ash was determined using SEM analysis. The experimental data indicated that the adsorption of cadmium on garbage ash follows pseudo second order model and Langmuir isotherm model with R2 = 0.99. Also, the maximum adsorption capacity of adsorbent was 100.25 mg/g. Thermodynamic data showed that cadmium adsorption on garbage ash was a spontaneous and endothermic process. Based on acquired data, garbage ash could be proposed as an efficient and low-cost adsorbent for the removal of cadmium from aqueous solution. Current study aimed to evaluate the effect of vitamin D supplementation on flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), oxidized LDL (oxLDL) and intracellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM1) in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension.In a double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial, 44 patients were randomly divided into vitamin D group (2000 IU/d, n = 23) and placebo group (control, n = 21) for 12 weeks. Vascular function with FMD, Serum 25-OH vitamin D, oxLDL and ICAM1 were assessed at the baseline and after the intervention. This clinical trial was registered at Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials (IRCT20191223045861N1).In intervention group serum level of vitamin D increased from 32.42 ± 10.56 to 40.45 ± 12.94 (p 0.001). In the vitamin D group, oxLDL and ICAM1 significantly decreased and FMD increased significantly in both groups (p 0.001). The level of oxLDL (p = 0.017) and ICAM1 (p 0.001) were significantly lower in the vitamin D group than the placebo group and FMD (p 0.001) was significantly higher in the vitamin D group.Vitamin D supplementation of 2000 IU/d for 12 weeks can improve endothelial function and decrease ICAM1 and oxLDL in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension.

The evaluation of various measures on the thermohydraulic conditions of the circuit and especially the fuel conditions of the reactor in order to minimize the accident effects is vital. Therefore, this work examines the effect of the operator's actions on controlling loss of heat removal through the turbine condenser accident with failure of feedwater supply to steam generators. The BNPP parameters during this accident has been analyzed considering two scenarios (with and without operator action) using the RELAP5 code. The simulation results showed that in case 1, the fuel cladding temperature has risen to 1200 °C within 11,000 s, which is more than the allowed temperature. The operator's actions in case 2 maintain the fuel cladding temperature in the permissible range level. Moreover, these results determine the available time for the operator's actions to prevent further core damage under the conditions that have been considered in the selected scenarios.

This study was conducted to investigate the histological structure of testis and hormonal changes during prepubertal Ghezel ram lambs. Histometrical evaluation of the testis was performed in 36 Ghezel lambs from one to 9 months of age. Lambs were allotted into nine groups, and surgically castrated each month from 1 to 9 months of age (n = 4 lambs per group). In addition, blood samples were taken from six animals from 1 month of age to adulthood to measure plasma levels of testosterone. Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels which is involved in migration, growth and differentiation of endothelial cells. This process regularly occurs during growth and development in children however, in adults is usually part of a disease process such as cancer. The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a vital player in the vascular development and angiogenesis in physiological and pathological processes. Camelid's immune system has unique antibodies which are composed of only a heavy chain homodimer and the variable domain (VHH, Nanobody). Nanobodies are small, around 15 kDa and stable. In this study, we engineered and constructed a new Nanobody-Fc fusion protein (fusionbody) composed of an anti-VEGFR2 Nanobody and an Fc fragment of human IgG1 antibody. The recombinant vector was transfected into NS0 host cells. Stable producer clones were developed and the recombinant fusionbody was expressed and purified. Functional assay showed the anti-VEGFR2 fusionbody could bind to VEGFR2 on cell surface via VHH part and could mediate killing the targeted cells through direct cell death and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC).

In this study a non-parametric method of DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) and MOGA (Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm) were used to estimate the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reduction of wheat farmers in Ahvaz county of Iran. Data were collected using a face-to-face questionnaire method from 39 farmers. The results showed that based on constant returns to scale model, 41.02% of wheat farms were efficient, though based on variable returns to scale model it was 53.23%. The average of technical, pure technical and scale efficiency of wheat farms were 0.94, 0.95 and 0.98, respectively. By following the recommendations of this study, 3640.90 MJ ha−1 could be saved (9.13% of total input energy). Moreover, 42 optimal units were found by MOGA. The total energy required and GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions of the best generation of MOGA were about 23105 MJ ha−1 and 340 kgCO2eq. ha−1, respectively. The results revealed that the total energy required of MOGA was less than DEA, significantly. Also, the GHG emissions of present, DEA and MOGA farms were about 903, 837 and 340 kgCO2eq. ha−1, respectively.

Vanadium oxide nanoparticles (VO2-NPs) were synthesized and utilized as an adsorbent against methylene blue (MB) from aqueous environment. Three substantial variables, pH, mixing time, and VO2 dose, were considered in the process modeling accomplished by Box-Behnken design (BBD). The quadratic model revealed that the VO2-NPs dose plays the most significant role. The model optimization predicts a 96.3% MB removal when pH, VO2 NPs dosage, and contact time were adjusted to 6, 0.5 g/L, and 30 min, respectively. The sorption capacity of VO2-NPs raised rapidly from 49.6 mg/g to 235.7 mg/g by increasing the initial MB concentration from 25 to 200 mg/L, respectively. The best fitted kinetic model was the pseudo-second order, while the well fitted Langmuir model showed a qmax of 240.5 mg/g. The study of the temperature effect revealed that increase of the temperature had a positive impact on the removal efficiency.

Collecting water from the atmosphere has been studied to address the global water shortage. One main challenge in this method is designing a patterned surface to maximize the water collection efficiency. In this work, we propose a bioinspired categorization method for the types of surfaces based on leaf venation patterns that are fabricated by direct laser writing. Our method introduces three categories from simple to complex intervals that include: completely linear, a combination of linear and network, and completely networked. Results show that our design-inspired pieces of venations suggest superior performance compared to the simple non-planar surface by boosting the efficiency of about ∼200−400% at the best venation pattern at 60° while making it possible to have enhanced effective and controllable transport of liquid through channels.

Power performance of a straight blade vertical axis wind turbine augmented with a flat plate deflector was studied. A design of experiment method based on Taguchi’s L 16 orthogonal array was employed to optimize the position, orientation, and dimensions of the deflector. Five parameters, including the horizontal distance of the top edge of the deflector from the axis of rotation of the turbine (X), the vertical distance of the top edge of the deflector from the bottom of the blades (W), the length of the deflector (L), the width of the deflector (W), and the angle of the deflector with respect to the axis of rotation of the turbine (φ) were investigated. 16 three-dimensional numerical experiments were conducted to assess the effect of theses parameters on the power output of the wind turbine. Analyzing the results showed that the level of the influence of these five parameters can be ordered as φ > W > X > Y > L, which means that φ has the strongest impact on the performance of the wind turbine and L has the weakest impact. Utilizing the deflector with optimum parameters increased the efficiency of the wind turbine by 16.42 % compare to the bare turbine.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) continues to be one of the most complex reproductive and endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age. Recent reports have identified close interaction of Vitamin D deficiency and oxidative stress (OS) in exacerbating the pathophysiology of PCOS. This current study aims at assessing the combine effect of MitoQ10 and Vitamin D3 on dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) induced PCOS. Following successful induction of PCOS using DHEA, mice were organized into five groups (n = 8) namely: Negative Control (NC), Vitamin D3 Vehicle (VDV), Vitamin D3 (VD), MitoQ10 (MQ), Vitamin D3 plus MitoQ10 (V+M) and DHEA, ethanol and distilled water, Vitamin D3, MitoQ10 and Vitamin D3 plus MitoQ10 were respectively administered for 20 consecutive days. The study also included positive control (PC) group (n = 8) in which no treatment was applied. Treatment effects were assessed using hormonal assays, biochemical assays, Real-Time PCR, western blotting and histological analysis. Combination of Vitamin D3 and MitoQ10 significantly reduced levels of estradiol, progesterone, FSH, LH, LH/FSH, SOD and MDA. The expression rate of mRNAs of 3β-HSD, Cyp19a1, Cyp11a1, StAR, Keap1, HO-1 and Nrf2 were also significantly low in V+M group. Moreover, the histomorphological inspection of ovaries from this group revealed many healthy follicles at various stages of development including few atretic follicles, pre-antral and antral follicles and many corpora lutea. The characteristics observed in this group were in many ways similar to that of the PC group. Professional ethics of employees is an effective Factor in the growth of spirituality and reducing administrative corruption in organizations. One factor that influences employees on Professional Ethics is personality. The overall goal of this research is to study the link between personalities of employees (Neuroticism, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to experience) and their Professional ethics (responsibility, Competitiveness, honestly, respect to others, respect to values, justice, Sympathy to others, Loyalty) in Medical Sciences University of Bushehr. To study the correlation between personality style and Professional ethics of employees, five hypotheses were proposed in this project and the objective was to find the ones that were supported by the collected and analyzed data. Two sets of questionnaires titled “Form NEO five factors personality test” and “Professional ethics” questionnaires were distributed among 270 employees. Population of this research was 690 employees. The sorted data was analyzed using in SPSS and Lisrel software. While designed to test the hypothesis, based on the results, Findings show that, Between personality traits and PE, there is a positive relationship (0.445), Between personality traits and PE, there is a negative relationship(- 0 .251) some recommendations for developing Professional ethics in the organization, as is the end of the study
