Abstract

Satisfactory results in the identification of trace rubber residues have been achieved from the relative retention time (RRT) and the relative content percent (RCP) obtained by Curie-Point Pyrolysis gas chromatography (Py-GC) using a two column system and a rigid-tape lifting technique. Marks left by more than ten different types of common rubber-soled shoes in climbing or brushing and twelve different brands of tyres in braking were examined. The minimum detectable amount was 10 μg.
