The coupling of the Z boson to quarks is studied in a sample of about 3.5 million hadronic Z decays collected by the L3 experiment at LEP from 1991 to 1995. The forward–backward quark charge asymmetry is measured by means of a jet charge technique. From the measured asymmetries, the effective weak mixing angle is determined to be sin2θW=0.2327±0.0012(stat.)±0.0013(syst.)., Facultad de Ciencias Exactas

A determination of the number of light neutrino families performed by measuring the cross section of single photon production in eqey collision near the Z resonance is reported. From an integrated luminosity of 100 pby1 , collected during the years 1991–94, we have observed 2091 single photon candidates with an energy above 1 GeV in the polar angular region 458-u -1358. From a maximum likelihood fit to the single photon cross section, the Z decay width into invisible particles g is measured to be G s498"12 stat Ž . Ž. "12 sys MeV. Using the Standard Model couplings of neutrinos to the Z, the inv number of light neutrino species is determined to be N s2.98"0.07 stat Ž . Ž. "0.07 sys., Facultad de Ciencias Exactas

We have searched for scalar muons μ , scalar electrons ẽ, and winos W from the reactions e + e − → e + e − , μ + μ − , W + W − at √s ∼ 91 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 157 nb −1 . We have searched for μ + μ − , e + e − , or e− μ final states with missing transverse momentum P T > 6 GeV. These final states are signatures for the production of ẽ, μ , and W. We found no events. Our results are M μ > 41 GeV , M e > 41 GeV , and M W > 44 GeV at the 95% confidence level.
